Update: I just respecced and got rid of Scorch, grabbed Hasten and gave it 3 slots, then gave another recharge to Build Up and Fiery Embrace, and put the 6th slot in CJ for LOTG recharge.

It is not possible to not lose Momentum according to the devs. It is a design choice.
-
The entire point of the whole set is about the Momentum mechanic, which is what you are complaining about.
Not only has it been mathematically proven to not be slower than other sets, Titan Weapons actually has two sets of animations for all but two of the powers because of the Momentum mechanic.
...although, I do kind of agree that it is silly that you don't get Momentum if you miss when it comes to theme. I don't think the set would be OP if it always granted Momentum after a slow attack if it misses or not. -
Quote:Gravity is getting a bunch of changes in issue 22, not all of which have been listed yet. Poison just got a whole bunch of changes, one of which was in the newest Live patch this week.Poison needs buffs and serious developer attention. Gravity needs buffs and serious developer attention. These three sets are vastly under-performing compared to their peers.
I think Poison could get a little more adjustment but it sure is a lot better than what it was. -
Quote:That's how it was for me on a stone/dark, and then I respecced into superior conditioning and physical perfection - along with recovery bonuses and two perf shifter procs, I added Vigor Radial to help with the end. I doubt you have ever built anything with dark that is as end hungry as when coupled with stone melee. I currently finally have zero end issues but yes, it took plenty to get there. It has never been about the toggles, even considering CoF - it's always been about how tough your toggles make you in order to prevent constant use of dark regen, which is the real blue bar destroyer.I have done dark armor several times over the course of CoH, the one build that I felt comfortable with was the stalker build which was dm/da but it has IOs and accolades. Basically every possible way of getting more endurance recovery and reduction I could find. On the characters where I could not level to 50 were brutes and scrappers. Dealing with the end drain was just not worth it. The reason it worked for a stalker is because there are 2 less toggles to deal with that use end. I would post those builds but I do not have mids installed on a work computer. It just amazes me how you guys think having to play a powerset with asthma inhaler is just fine when its not. This is the only powerset in the game thats an end hog on this level. I cant think of anything else that uses this close to the amount of end and recovery management.

I left it open intentionally, looking for advice, so hearing about building for far less damage and going for defense instead is something I expected but don't have a goal for.
Recharge makes sense - since I can become tougher just by being able to spam Healing Flames more often.
I suppose I could eliminate Scorch and go for Hasten and toss the other slots from it onto Build Up and Fiery Embrace. -
Quote:Oh, I didn't realize he failed to actually play a set, as in, he has never created one. I thought you were saying that he fails due to his skills and/or build ability. My video has nothing to do with his failure to play the set.
The set is fully capable on SOs. My video characters were not made with IOs from the start.
Yeah, all power sets are fully capable using SOs. That was never the argument - it's always been about WHAT is capable on SOs compared to other sets. -
Quote:Laugh if you wish, I am just telling you the truth. The reason they won't do a whip set is because of their extremely painful experience making the 3 attacks in Demon Summoning.HAHAhAhahahahaha. They dont want to add something that looks visually stunning? Hmmm.
I've only worked briefly with 3D, including modeling with Blender, Cheetah, and some lower end pachages, so i dont think 40 to 50 cylinders should be a big deal.
Your set idea would have the exact same problem - it was never about the difference in polys for the models though. -
Yeah, I sent a PM to Arbiter Hawk before even finding this thread today.
It doesn't seem right that Scrapper Burn does the LEAST damage of any other version. I know it is a pet, but it seems there should be some way to flag it as the scrapper version.
What about increasing the target cap and making it do even more damage up front?
I doubt that they can flag it to have the AI work differently without major headaches.
It just seems unfair that Scrapper's Burn is the only version that doesn't have tools to cause it to deal all of the damage. -
Quote:Done.Protip: you'd get more help if you posted the data chunk.
Personally I'd focus more on recharge and +hp than regen on a fire aura toon (in my case defnse too but I see you're not worried about that), I'd ignore regen altogether because of healing flames. But I don't plan my builds around incarnate stuff so ymmv. I just thing you're getting too little recharge for all this investment.
Well, that is why I went Spiritual Core, and I typically use Cremate, Incinerate, Greater Fire Sword, Fire Sword Circle, and Burn without having much of a break. Oblits would give me a little more recharge so maybe I will go that route, although spending all those millions for 12~% recharge doesn't seem worth it to me. I would get the advantage of smashing vs lethal procs though.
I'm a proc lover obviously -

Yep, this was CONSTANTLY brought up in beta. Supposedly someone mentioned at the most recent dev gathering that a stealth patch was put in to increase the audio hits, but then I immediately showed video recordings before and after the patch with zero differences.
...and I assume you mean audio fx. -
I always thought Traps were the worst defender set even though it is great on other ATs.
That said, I agree with your Poison Gas and Acid Arrow changes. I can see the end cost issue being fixed on Disruption but not the increase to the debuff simply due to the changes to Acid Arrow. That's 40% -res, which is higher than any other defender primary, if I recall. -
Quote:So other than Oblits, you would roll a brute with the same build? I may do that for fun down the line but naturally I am not going to delete this character for that reason.Reroll as brute... You will do better, specially FA.
But, ok you got T4s so... Well, pretending burn does not exist sucks, its one of the best powers in the set so yes, slot it as 6 slots Oblits.
Burn for brutes is awesome, the mobs keep burning just so close to you is awesome MUAHAHAHAHA!
I love it. -
Damage auras shouldn't be ignored either.
-
Would you replace the Scirroccos with Oblits? etc.
-
Actually no, Resilient is now up to 33% resist at tier 4.
...having said that, it's a little tough to say since we don't know your build. On my fire/fire scrapper, I went with physical perfection instead and grabbed Spiritual Core at tier 4, to get FSC/Incinerate/Healing Flames boosted a bunch. -
OP: you missed some stuff.
Lift is not getting changed for doms because it was actually doing correct damage already - controllers were not.
Dimension Shift will stay as it is for a reason, and the reason Arbiter Hawk gave is that it is great in PVP. -
Quote:I use Tier 4 Vigor Radial for my stone/dark.Incedentally, I have two DA incarnates. Neither use cardiac or ageless.
End cost is a big issue and it fixes that, plus adds accuracy for cloak of fear, plus adds fear, plus adds to health and dark regen and physical perfection. -
I asked Arbiter Hawk about EM changes on the stream today and he said it is too early to tell right now.

Quote:Ah yes, clarity. I meant to list it in order of commonality, not how heavily they are resisted WHEN they are resisted.Just for clarity, as I think there's some confusion here in wording:
Lethal and Smashing remain the most commonly resisted damage types. A large portion of the enemies in game usually have 10-30% resistance to these, especially Lethal (teh sad).
But Psionic and Toxic are the most heavily resisted. It's not as common to run in to something with Psionic or Toxic resistance as it is the other types in the game (especially pre-level 40), but most things with resistance to either usually has a lot of resistance to them, especially Toxic (which I remember some things had 100% resistance to). -
If toxic isn't the least resisted in the majority of the game, then something is broken. It initially was a no-name type of damage when introduced, then renamed to toxic later. It was designed to be less resisted. Like I said, I am intentionally ignoring the iTrials since they are such a small part of the game world.
-
Quote:Ah ok (regarding the Avoid discussion.)Actually, no. Psionic and Toxic are resisted quite a bit by mobs, as every robot gets large resists to them. It's actually something more like:
Lethal
Smashing
Energy
Psionic
Toxic
Cold
Neg
Fire
And to be more clear about burn, all versions of the power had avoid removed. However, that avoid was on top of the natural game avoid for damage patches, and thus some avoid remains. Scrappers, who don't have taunt in their aura, don't have anything couteracting this natural avoid affect, so enemies run.
I don't think I can agree with your list, because if you noticed, I referenced 'for the majority of the game.' I understand that lately people have been arguing about psionic/toxic because the iTrials severely weaken that type of damage, but again, that is such a tiny portion of the game compared to your entire career.
