I'm hoping for a LOT of free time at work tomorrow to incorporate all these great suggestions into one build
It'll be tough with alll the different feedbaack but thanks everyone for the help!!!!If anyone can come up with the build encorporating the best points of ALL these suggestions AND keep what I have in mind for the final game of this toon and WANTS to post a build I know I would be greatly appreciated...my Brute mind is too slow to put the puzzle together

In regards to the most recent build you posted, your slotting is all kinds of weird and I'm not really sure what build goals you're aiming for. In the recharge department anything past 40% or so starts to get DR'd pretty heavily so it's not really worth spending more to get past that. Building for regen doesn't seem terribly important either as you're not a Regen or WP melee build or a /Pain. I doubt you'd be able to stack meaningful regen and should be relying on greens and teammate heals to keep you alive when phase or Hibernate isn't up.
Just looking at that build - you need more hit points and a lot more knockback protection (shoot for 35-40 points). Infrigidate should be slotted for defense debuff not for slow (or otherwise a mix of the two). Snow Storm will do a decent enough job keeping your target slowed, especially since offensive toggles on an opponent will keep that target under essentially permanent travel suppression. Work a damage proc into Shriek, such as the Apocalypse proc or the Gladiator's Javelin proc. Benumb needs more accuracy slotted. The Kismet should be in a power you'll always be running, such as Stealth (or CJ if you do that). In regards to a patron pool you have several options - leadership + Leviathan, or concealment + Soul (for Power Boosted debuffs), or the old standby of concealment + Mace (for Web Envelope and now Focused Accuracy). -

Oh and about the phase AND hiber thing, I would personally not get both seeing as you can only use one every 90 seconds due to NoPhase, so you really only need one. Yes there may have been times when I died in phase from a DoT that I MIGHT have been able to regen if I had hiber, but there are much more times when I would have been ganked when hiber is over. I would follow along the lines of Macskulls build in confidence, no offence but his build looks more solid than yours in the slotting department.I posted for feedback and help....it would be complete SUCK of me to post and not accept feedback. I just want to make sure the power choices for PvP are solid. Some of his power choices looked PvE IMO and not PvP...I don't want to waste a single power choice that could be better served for PvP.
That aside, slotting might be the issue then? -

It's annoying but that's the playstyle of the AT that runs from me. I would think the person a novice if they had the opportunity in PvP to not take the chance to Phase or Hibernate away in a battle and did not.
I use every "trick" in the book to stay alive in PvP and I would expect my opponent to do as well. It's what makes PvP so challenging and fun. Using EVERY opportunity and power you can to win the fight. It's PvP, it's not dishonorable or chaeting IMO to use every thing at your disposal to win the day...
I have had 6 Heroes make me faceplant at the same time...did I begrudge them their win in /Broadcast...never...I should have brought friends or not been so stupid as to be caught off gaurd by 6 Heroes...was it cheating for them to be 6 vs 1? Nah....it's PvP.... -

Food for thought.I was ALMOST going to roll Dark/Cold....Trust me, I was SOOtempted. Actuallly, I can't recall now what tipped the balance in favor for me to go Sonic....
My n00b is still only level 6 so I might need to look at Dar/Cold again...

Thanks, I was wondering about where to focus. I was originally considering Concealment line but couldn't decide which would be more beneficial, Concealment or Leadership. I completely agree with your assessment and have altered the build accordingly.

Thanks a lot for posting your build. I do have some questions about it. Is that a PvE build? I notice you have both shields and the Spirit Shark Jaws and Coralax pet whihc don't seem very necessary in PvP.
Can you offer any improvements on my build which I am trying to focus on PvP for?
My build has a lot more Status Protection but yours is definitely a lot more Regen heavy. Should I be concentrating more on Regen than Status Protection? -
I posted this build in the PvP section without a single reply. Either the build was so horrible no one wanted to be mean enough to tell me or it was so great there was no room for improvement (HIGHLY UNLIKEY). So, I'm throwing it out to the Corr forums
A VG mate wishes to make some Corr's for Rv and other PvP. This is my 1st attempt at a PvP Corruptor and would really appreciate some helpful feedback on this build.
Before anyone suggests any other powersets (like Elec/Therm) please know I really want to stay with these powersets work and see what I can make of them.
As well, I mostly play Brutes/Tanks so some of that mentality might have trickled into this build, if so, please forgive me and help me see the error of my ways. I was trying for a balance between Status Protection, Survivability and Recharge (I know none of these are maxed and that might be a major flaw, if so...help) but I was shooting for "balance" within the build.
All your help/advice/guidance is greatly appreciated

Gang,
Hoping for some solid feedback from the Pros here in the PvP forums. A VG mate wishes to make some Corr's for Rv and other PvP. This is my 1st attempt at a PvP Corruptor and would really appreciate some helpful feedback on this build.
Before anyone suggests any other powersets (like Elec/Therm) please know I really want to stay with these powersets work and see what I can make of them.
As well, I mostly play Brutes/Tanks so some of that mentality might have trickled into this build, if so, please forgive me and help me see the error of my ways. I was trying for a balance between Status Protection, Survivability and Recharge (I know none of these are maxed and that might be a major flaw, if so...help) but I was shooting for "balance" within the build.
All your help/advice/guidance is greatly appreciated

My Mind/NRG Dom is now 40 and was thinking about taking him into PvP.
I have never IO'd a Dominator so I am very unfamiliar what sets I should be looking for or what I need to concentrate on as it pertains to PvP for a Dom and IO sets.
The following buiild is just with Invention: enhancers but would love to see something with (or build something) with IO's sets.
Any help with power selection, slotting or IO's is greatly appreciated or heck ....if you have a solid PvP build I wouldn't mind even seeing that.

Pretty sure the title of this thread was asking for the best PvP Brute not a debate on the role of a Brute, especially as it compares to MM's.
To the OP: One thing I noticed is that every archetype is going to have some weakness to at least one other power type/archetype. There is just not a good way to say which is the best as it depends on the type of PvP and as the game evolves what strategy or archetype was dominant a year ago may not be so today.
If I HAD to role a Brute for PvP I would probably roll Dark/Willpower, Dark/Dark, Dark/Fire or Fire/Fire. Not too many holes.

Add to that Footstomp has the same 10 target cap as many of the other AoEs so, if your farming, a lot of the time that extra range is wasted.
Crowd Control is a better AoE for mine. -

DM/SD appears to have this really great synergy on serveral fronts:
Defense + Self Heal
Defense + -ToHit
SD End use countered by End Tap
Two PBAoE + Shield Charge for great threat if tanking
SD's AOE Strength + DM's ST Strength & Self Sufficiency = Balance
As discussed, the ability to augment anyAoE hole with Patron Powers
(and I probably missed some!)
How hard is it to get Shadow Maul to work in packs? I really have traditonally hated trying to make it work, but in AE sized packs, I assume its going to hit some stuff.
I am super excited about this char to be honest, look forward to trying to make this work.
I'm currently working on a DM/WP Brute and the thing I worry about is the AoE. I LOVE Shield Charge and will miss it a lot I'm sure...Hopefully there will be enough room to get a Patron AoE -

You might want to read about defense and how levels are incorporated into it.
As for range AoE is most definitely not the most dangerous. Many 'AoE' attacks are actually flagged as ranged and much of the most dangerous stuff (Ring Mistress, Sapper) are also ranged tagged. You can check for yourself at the Paragon wiki what kind of attacks enemies use.
I have played my brutes at lower than soft cap and at soft cap and over soft cap and at or over has always had better results. Just been my experience.

Thanks for taking the time to post that build. I am surprised that you stated the builds were wierd. If they are, that's my fault since Paladin was using my original power choices...which was great since I liked the choices I had made and he showed me a few things with the same build to wring out a few improvements.
I actually find your build strange in some of the power choices. 1st...that build doesn't even hit soft cap for any defense type...not very surviveable in my opinion. 2nd...Mu Lightning? Not sure where the benefit in that is? Hoping you see something there I am missing and can enlighten me
As for my Endurance, well...I'm almost ALWAYS with a /kin (not hard to find a couple LFT and have a few in the VG) and when I do find myself solo I'm smart enough to take some blues and keep combining as the mission progresses so I have a good amount. Honestly not too big a worry.
If my Defense is below Soft cap I'm DEAD! At that point it won't really matter if I have endurance -
I would have to just say that picking EM/ you need to just accept the fact that you are a single target king and not an AoE monster like other sets. If AoE SMASH is what you really want then I would roll a different Brute primary.
I thouroghly enjoy Mace...it's feel real nice and SMASHy and it has a nice mix of Cone and Single target damage. -

Money isn't too big a deal for me. This toon is already 50 and I just feel like I still have some holes. I'm definitely going to take your advice and slot the LotG +Recharge and see if I can't "break the bank" and get the Gladiator's Armor +3% to all defense PvP IO
Just wish I had a self heal for when the random number generator decides I need to be hit with 50% of the alphas thrown at me and I'm on a PUG where I don't know the skill level of my support

I love the feel...easily the most fun Brute I have played so far. That being said, I'm already partial to Brutes so my suggestion may not help if you just aren't melee orientated.

Based on your information...my 2 most fun brutes I run are:
Mace/Shields: I LOVE Shield Charge. You have to wait until level 35 to get it but totally worth the wait. And as for Single Target AND some AoE loving Mace rocks! Clobber, Shatter, Jawbreaker and Pulverize do awesome single target damage. If you find yourself in a situation where AoE is merited then Whirling Mace, Crowd Control and Shield Charge are PERFECT. Not much makes you feel the SMASH as much as Mace.
Dark Melee/Super Reflexes: Like another poster said...it takes awhile to come into its own but once it does, WOW! With the right build and IO's you WILL solo AV's. If that isn't single target awesomeness I don't knwo what is -

LOL!! That was a joke. Sorry, I forget that sarcasm just doesn't have the same effect in type! My 50 IO'd out DM/SR Brute has a better chance than my Tank (due to him being DM/SR)
