  1. There is a problem with Defense Debuff Resistance, at least on scrappers.

    It looks like Mids is not applying ED when computing DDR numbers.
    Katie V's numbers are more revealing than mine as the build Katie V checked has all SR defenses at 3 or more slots whereas my build had only two powers with more than 2 slots, those being Focused Senses and Evasion.

    I would be interested in having some tankers also check their live build vs Mids to see if this is a problem in other archtypes with DDR.

    I notice you also wanted No Purples in your Aid Self. Pulling them out of the reworked Iggy build is a simple one for one with other sets. Still 95% recharge if you use Decimation in Focus with compromised damage, or 88.8% Rchg with Thunderstrikes as shown.

  3. I suspect the OP wants to avoid Weave as that is about the only way to fit in the Medicine Pool he mentioned. I took the liberty of a quick redo of the build Iggy just posted, losing Super Jump and letting Combat Jumping mule the BotZ set. Thus adding Aid other and Aid Self.

  4. I have been playing a Claws / SR almost exclusively for the three months prior to GR and have tinkered her build ad-nauseum as some may have noticed. I have tried to read all the SR posts on this forum, as much as time allowed, and know I still have a ton to learn.

    My observations about SR are:

    1) Gee Whizz I like it! Compared to any other toon I have played in my 9 months it has the best feel of being really Super-Heroic. It is a Claws so sometimes I feel a little Damage shy compared to my only other really useful toon a S/L soft capped Rad/MM Blaster, but taking slightly longer to finish x8 mobs in pretty much complete safety is really nice.

    2) Green pills are fine for an unlucky streak, but if you have a useable Tough as I do at 17+% then one or two orange seem to pull the teeth of almost all mobs, barring PSI. This leads too --

    3) The scaling damage resistance just seems useless untill you are so low in the red that any boss or leut. hit may one shot you. If I were to suggest a change to SR I would join in saying to allow resistance slotting in some or all of Dodge, Agility and Lucky. Or, as has already been mentioned in Practiced Brawler, allowing that to also affect the scaling resist.

    Oh, does anyone know if orange pills affects the Scaling Damage Resist,
    perhaps that is why orange pills seem so extra good?

  5. That would explain why Lucky, Agile and Dodge appear ok in my builds since I usualy 2 slot those. Thanks for the confirm and I will update my post on the Mids board. I wonder how long this has been happening?

  7. I recently did a Claws/SR respec and was somewhat dismayed to find my DDR was not even close to the softcap. I reversed the actual build I had vs the idealized build in my posts (some of the LotG pieces were 1 number off the build ie 31 vs 32 etc.) and found I was 5% shy pending a Hami O purchase. Even with th HO there is no way I am going to get to the cap. Posted a description of the problem on the Mids tech Support forum but with Stony leaving I doubt that anything will be done for a while. Just a heads up to put some cushion in you DDR so you don't get a nasty gotcha like I did.

  9. Thank you all so much for your help.

    Of course this is all meaningless now as apparently I am the only person on these forums who somehow missed the announcement of the early release of I18. So all the freespecs I hoped to use tonight are GONE. The 3 days I just spent the majority of in preparing six new builds and the 10 solid hours I spent today are not wasted, but there is now no safety net of new freespecs.

    Do I feel like a fool? Yes.
    Do I feel bad because I look like a Fool. You bet!
    Am I sad because I lost all those respecs? Empahtically Yes. On Justice lately it has been taking me 10-14 days to catch a respec trial.
    Do I particularly regret wasting everyones time asking for the special favor of QUICK detailed help on multiple forums? On the Tanker forum I most certainly do.
    Am I a FOOL? For Today the answer is (drum roll plz) Damn Straight!

  10. Draggynn, under time pressure I did ask for some outright builds. I will point out that the Storm/x guides are all very out of date or the link is broken. I also invite you to search Storm/elec or various permutations thereof. With only my own limited understanding of defenders in general (just got my 9 month badge - have just the one mid level defender) I asked for more substantive help.

    If you would care to observe my essentially identical post in the Tanker forum you will see the result from a little bit of meaningful help and current guides. I did try to clarify my thoughts on the type of defender build I would prefer in my earlier self reply.

    Of course this is all meaningless now as apparently I am the only person on these forums who somehow missed the announcement of the early release of I18. So all the freespecs I hoped to use tonight are GONE. The 3 days I just spent the majority of in preparing six new builds (note the 4 ATs I did not ask any help with) and the 10 solid hours I spent today are not wasted, but there is now no safety net of new freespecs. The build I had to do with virtually no help from this forum will be posted here in due course as time is no longer an issue.

    Do I feel like a fool? Yes.
    Do I feel bad because I look like a Fool. You bet!
    Am I sad because I lost all those respecs? Empahtically Yes. On Justice lately it has been taking me 10-14 days to catch a respec trial.
    Do I particularly regret wasting everyones time asking for the special favor of QUICK detailed help on multiple forums? On the Tanker forum I most certainly do. On this forum I do not.
    Am I a FOOL? For Today the answer is Damn Straight!

    Please understand that I appreciate your well meaning and certainly correct advice, and do not hold you or anyone in else in special enmity.
    I should have been ahead of this.
    I should have completed all the builds last week, and appealed for help then.
    I should have made my appeal for quick and detailed build help on this forum more lucid to begin with.
    I should have thrown up any ragtag piece of crap build for consideration, as this is not the first time I seen the admonition to submit a build for critique rather than ask for random examples.
    I will plead the excuse of being under what I thought was a deadline.

    I had really hoped for more than one response though. This is a concept/role play toon and one of the first I ever made. Part of the reason I have such a dud build right now (can you say 3 slot Swift.) Is Storm/Electric just not played much, or considered an inferior combo?

    This is my only defender and so I am pretty much still a noob as far as this AT is concerned. What study I did do leads me to believe I want an Offender if that is possible.

    Re-read the Stone/Fire Guides, and studied all the builds here and in the other recent thread. Came up with this for a Tanker with Teleport. It has enough global recharge to have a slight bonus even under Granite. It has a lot of run boost also at 18mph with Granite on and Rooted off. Hopefully I might not have to use teleport too much.

    Would that be playable? My tank is only like lvl 15 so I have no real feel for this AT.

    I enjoy exploring the no movement power builds using just Ninja Run. This is pretty much the same build with no Teleport . It has the same 18mph without rooted and 58 mph NR for zone travel. Would this be useable, if I cycle between Rock and Granite? I could use a bind to turn on sprint NR and Rock at the same time?

    Thanks for the understanding and commiseration.

    I am only going to move 1 toon, probably Lizzz, since you all hate to run with her anyway. She is going to be the the best all around, and strongest solo, which is not a group issue either. I doubt you will even know she left.

    If the SG ever does want semi-uber help that will still leave Zev who is a lot more fragile and not such an over-achiever.

    I was trying to be non-explicit about our home server as I did not want to dis Justice, I really really really like the community there, but the drop off from last fall when I started is just huge. If it turns out that all the missing peeps were in the beta all the time of course I'll stay, but that seems unlikely. Justice used to be one of the three servers with two lights lit but never anymore, not even on I17 release.

    Painful Decision

    Thanks Fulmens,
    I have read your guide on the market, Fury Flechette's, and at least 3 others. I read the market and invention forum everyday now. I have tried crafting and selling but it just seems to take a long time to get everything done. Too much time as far as I am concerned.

    In the 9 months I have been playing I have tried every form of recommended random roll (silver this, bronze that, gold whatever) and I guess I am just under the curse of the RNG fairy as it has been a dissapointment every time but once. I am talking 9999 AE tickets at least 3 (30,000 plus tickets) times and every attempt at random would have been exceeded by just buying and merching the flavor of the moment rare salvage. My random rolls with merits are too painful to describe. At least when you spend 200 merits on a perfect LotG 7.5% you by god have a perfect LotG 7.5%, or Numina's or Miracle and it will sell for a decent amount. I have dropped a large number of good recipies playing, got the inf for the defeat and still had merits and tickets untouched. So my experience is play as much as you can and spend the absolute minimum time possible in Wentworths or at a crafting station.

    This is one of the things I notice talked about time and again across the forums. There are so many valid ways to play the game and enjoy it.

    Painful Decision

    Thank you Emberly, for your excellent and responsive post. I will certainly consider Virtue, but in preparing for this post I scanned the Server Forums. Is the stability issue on Virtue stickied by red name Avatea on August 5 resolved yet? I just checked and saw no red name update in that thread.

    To all others who have responded thank you as well.

    Naturally, I am already a member of the TF etc. channels on my home server which is why I asked about them in the OP. During regular hours there is moderate activity, and there are scheduled Hami raids but usually only 1 a week. The RL problems I mentioned mean I have missed every one of the raids for the last 6 weeks. Before the transfers I was averaging two out of the three raids every week and an ITF every day along with plenty of other TFs.

    The overall lack of action I mentioned has been evident for some months, ever since the anniversary free transfers. I do not attribute it to players spending time in beta tests and such as this is a multi-month observance. I have tolerated the lapse of merit opportunities because I can barely afford to keep my and my spouse's account going, and could not justify even the modest fee for a transfer, particulary as I had to scrape up the cumshaw for 2 x GR.

    The announcement of the upcoming free transfers is the circumstance that has prompted this thread. It is unthinkable that I would emigrate as several RL friends got us into the game and naturally we are all on the same server. I hate to pull one of the only two really good all-around toons I have out of our guild, but I can't make any more without some form of income and I just really dislike marketing.

    Painful Decision

    I need advice. My preferred way to make inf is to PLAY. I enjoy TFs and hami raids, etc. and using the merits to get what I need for my toons. Due to a variety of RL issues my hours are highly variable. My present home server just does not have enough action, particulary at off hours, since the last round of free transfers.

    I will never leave my home but I feel I have to move one of my fully slotted all around Lvl 50 toons to a server that is really active for TFs, hami raids, etc. and has action all day or as close as possilbe. A play for merits oriented SG recommendation for such a server and/or channels to join there would be great too.

    Kismet +Accuracy

    Well apparently I am still Mystified.
    Since I always put that darned thing (the Kismet) in an early defense power and the power is always on I never have seen it not shown in the powers stats. If I ever knew it was a Proc 120 I forgot and assumed it was a Global. Thanks for setting me straight.
    Just shows how steep the learning curve is for some of us.

    Kismet +Accuracy

    This is not exactly on topic for the OP but,
    The nifty (get one Today) Kismet Accuracy is NOT a Proc, there is no % chance in it.

    It is a Set bonus equivalent IO, and acts like a one slot Set. In addition it will complete what ever set bonus you have for other Kismet pieces with it, if any. No other piece of Kismet is required, it stands alone just fine for the +To-Hit.

    The word Accuracy in the IO name is extremely misleading and was one of several things that confused me greatly when I started playing last year. The word Accuracy is used incorrectly in place of the much more desirable To-Hit bonus in a lot of other places as well, so always double check the WIKI for power descriptions, etc. that mention an Accuracy bonus.

    A SET IO is always on as long as you are at its level, or exemplared no more than 3 levels below the Level of the IO, regardless of the level the power it is placed in. Full IO sets work the same way.

    An extreme (albeit silly) example would be to place a level 10 Kismet Accuracy in a level 49 Combat Jumping set mule along with a Level 25 Luck of the Gambler 7.5% recharge. Both IOs are minimum level for their set and will work just fine at very low exemplar levels. The Kismet from lvl 7 up (Positron TF, etc.) and the LotG recharge from Level 22 up.

  23. Recently I asked a question about Perma Hasten in the General Forum.
    I would post a link but being a real Forum potzer I can't figure out how.

    Using the excellent information from the many replies I modified the Lizzz build I have been working on to what I hope is a good Perma Hasten suitable for end game only play and farming. I left the AOE and Cone attacks fully slotted to speed large spawn take down. The slot with the proc in Shockwave could be moved to Focus for single targets if that would be smart. Tough is slottted and I would plan to only farm S/L mobs so I would have resistance backup (Battle Maiden warriors, etc.)

    I don't number crunch very well, what would be the optimum attack chains for Groups (I hope to do +4 so shockwave is a knock down only,) and for single target?

    Will I have enough To-Hit and Accuracy for +4 farming?

    This build has almost no defense in attacks and should be able to easily switch Primaries. Would something like Dark Melee with it's self heal be a wiser choice for an end game farmer? This version would require all new IO's anyway so a totally new toon would not be a problem.

    I only want to take the troubel to Purple one build so I really am trying to get it right. As always any advice gratefully accepted. If I have done something stupid, you won't hurt my feeling if you say so.

  25. Thanks Doomguide. I think I'll keep the Kismet until I purple (if ever) as it is obvious this build is designed to be able to exemp to lvl 30 (or 29 when the game hiccups - I have had it happen several times.)

    Speaking of Purple---

    Playing around with the final choice and taking note of the build chunk Werner posted in a newer Claws/SR thread yesterday I implemented the 3 obvious purple sets (giving up the melee defense overkill.) I also unslotted Strike as shown in the Werner chunk (Lizzz almost never uses it already without any bells and whistles yet) and converted to Red Fortune in two powers in an attempt to get a perma Hasten. I achieved a 119.5 sec recharge for Hasten. Is that enough if I keep Hasten on autofire and stay aware of the time?
