Don't want to lose my FreeSpec - Storm/Elec build help
Try this build out for size. I skipped short circuit. Although I don't run hurricane 24/7 myself, you would have to shut it down too often for using short circuit. I didn't pick up Aim because you have freezing rain for the defense and resistance debuff. I don't usually take the snipe on defenders. I like to have both gale and O2; you could easily switch which one take first though. I like Thunderclap as a quick follow up to freezing rain, to help it hit, and then if/when I cast tornado, the stuns will stack.

I had really hoped for more than one response though. This is a concept/role play toon and one of the first I ever made. Part of the reason I have such a dud build right now (can you say 3 slot Swift.) Is Storm/Electric just not played much, or considered an inferior combo?
This is my only defender and so I am pretty much still a noob as far as this AT is concerned. What study I did do leads me to believe I want an Offender if that is possible.

You get the idea. Just saying, "I need a new build" doesn't give us a whole lot to work with and asks us to do a lot of work. If all you want is some Storm/Electric builds you can find them with a little bit of searching as in this thread. Without additional information there is no reason to post anything except for builds which are already out there.

Draggynn, under time pressure I did ask for some outright builds. I will point out that the Storm/x guides are all very out of date or the link is broken. I also invite you to search Storm/elec or various permutations thereof. With only my own limited understanding of defenders in general (just got my 9 month badge - have just the one mid level defender) I asked for more substantive help.
If you would care to observe my essentially identical post in the Tanker forum you will see the result from a little bit of meaningful help and current guides. I did try to clarify my thoughts on the type of defender build I would prefer in my earlier self reply.
Of course this is all meaningless now as apparently I am the only person on these forums who somehow missed the announcement of the early release of I18.
So all the freespecs I hoped to use tonight are GONE. The 3 days I just spent the majority of in preparing six new builds (note the 4 ATs I did not ask any help with) and the 10 solid hours I spent today are not wasted, but there is now no safety net of new freespecs.
The build I had to do with virtually no help from this forum will be posted here in due course as time is no longer an issue.
Do I feel like a fool? Yes.
Do I feel bad because I look like a Fool. You bet!
Am I sad because I lost all those respecs? Empahtically Yes. On Justice lately it has been taking me 10-14 days to catch a respec trial.
Do I particularly regret wasting everyones time asking for the special favor of QUICK detailed help on multiple forums? On the Tanker forum I most certainly do.
On this forum I do not.

Please understand that I appreciate your well meaning and certainly correct advice, and do not hold you or anyone in else in special enmity.
I should have been ahead of this.
I should have completed all the builds last week, and appealed for help then.
I should have made my appeal for quick and detailed build help on this forum more lucid to begin with.
I should have thrown up any ragtag piece of crap build for consideration, as this is not the first time I seen the admonition to submit a build for critique rather than ask for random examples.
I will plead the excuse of being under what I thought was a deadline.
And I should have been born in 1974 in stead of 1954 so I would be 36 and healthy and not be a broken down cripple with nothing better to do than play this game, and whine about something so really trivial. If the tone of this post seems unjustifiably bitter, chalk it up to a nasty surprise for me that everyone else is cheering about. I sure when I creep into Gamestop tomorrow and pick up my 2 copies of Going Rogue I will feel all more better!

Yes, saying you want an offender provides some more guidance, but all Storm Defenders are basically offenders. Information that would have been useful (and yes, it's hard to know that this is information that is needed before hand):
solo/group/pvp play? (roleplaying generally means group, but isn't entirely clear)
Leveling build or Level 50 build (how well does the build need to exemp?)? (your final post makes it sound like you're still leveling him up, which requires very different advice than tweaking a lvl 50)
What price range were you looking for? (Break the bank with PvP IOs, Just cheap IOs, or SOs)
You'll notice that PsyonicBlast included all of this information and was much more successful in getting responses.
Also, there's no reason to get horribly upset about a lost respec. You didn't really lose a freespec, you just failed to gain another one. Were you really planning on respeccing him twice with the freespecs in short succession, anyway? If I were in your position I would provide more information and hopefully someone will post a build that more closely resembles what you are looking for and then you can use the freespec that you still have to change to the build that you most admire. Yes, there's no safety net of another freespec, but their given out with some frequency, and you'll have vet specs soon.
