/t Dead Calm, so you want a duel then?
[/ QUOTE ]
I remember seing a low level baster running very slowly from meteor to meteor in Bloody Bay.
Unfortunately for him, SR Stalkers get +Perception quite quickly. -

The mighty Melon has resorted to bouncing around Siren's slapping Tanks? You disgust me!*
[/ QUOTE ]
And me! I keep chasing her around and slapping her with my Claws, but will she come to say hi?Nope, she keeps bouncing away and trying to touch up Tanks. Utterly disgraceful.
[/ QUOTE ]
Who are you then? I don't recall bouncing away from Syn in the zone, which means you have some nom de guerre that I don't know. -
[ QUOTE ]
But mellon is easy to beat
[/ QUOTE ]
Ha! You be quiet. Or.. or... I'll run away even faster next time! -
[ QUOTE ]
You're not allowed to defeat me on a Friday (this changes depending on the day of the week).
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't really kill things in PvP any more. Now I hit the Disruptor badge I've moved on to new sport. Mostly I find tankers and have fun bouncing around brawling their toggles off.
A big scary ice tanker stomped up to the Villain base yesterday. I got very lucky with my first two brawls and then it was only a question of if I could get out of the way of the feeding frenzy of incoming villains or be trampled under foot.
You don't have any toggles, do you, Sis... *cough* -
[ QUOTE ]
Ah, but you're a girl, Jackal. You do away with anyone who knows that, and they're going to come up with some sort of excuse.
[/ QUOTE ]
You should come into PvP, Sis. I need a new sig. -
Just another voice in the mix here to say that you did nothing wrong, Wuffles and should keep on keeping on.
The thing that really grates on me at the moment is all the crying in broadcast when people die, even in a fair fight.
"You can't beat me unless it's 2-v-1!"
"That was 6-v-1 you gankers!"
"I only had 10 hit points!"
"I was resting!"
and yesterday, having never seen the excuse before, I twice saw "You can only kill me when I'm running a long animation!"
It's PvP. If you're in the zone, you're a target and you may well be a target for multiple enemies.
I can't turn broadcast off, because some heroes are absolutely worth talking to, but I just hate the endless crying on and on. I understand totally the "I'll get you!" mentality, but it's just so refreshing to meet people who die in the "right" spirit.
I'd rather people [broke the EULA and] swore at me and told me how they were going to render me into minced meat than generated reason number one million about how their death wasn't fair. -
Once you get build up, (or similar), and placate then the running becomes a lot less.
Once you can do build up > AS > [Scrap] > Placate > AS then you can start cutting through three-man mobs quickly. -
I have two +3 SOs, (thank you, Sirens Call), and an =DO on PB and it recharges before it runs out, so I keep it on auto.
The only issue is that it kills momentum when it switches on, so if you're leaping from rooftop to rooftop, or chasing down a fleeing hero it can be a bit annoying when it kicks in and you're frozen for the animation. -
[ QUOTE ]
You get REALLY sick on there at times though Jaq
[/ QUOTE ]
When someone who has been face down six times in 10 minutes gets on /b while he hides under an Ice Tank's skirts and says how invincible he is, I get a little.... frisky. Yeah. -
I get into trash-talk a little bit, usually in response to someone saying something daft on /b though.
I make sure I balance it all out by giving out a "Well done. That hurt, I'll get you!" whenever someone splats me.
I expect a bit of banter back and forth and none of it really bothers me. -
[ QUOTE ]
I hear it helps a bit with AS? Is this correct?
[/ QUOTE ]
You can hover up, out of the range of ground-based stalkers. But those with fly/hover can still get you and spines stalkers will be able to impale you down to the ground and then placate > AS you.
So it helps... a bit. But, (I'd hope), most Stalkers have an answer for airborne heroes. -
Assassin Strike!
Runours abound of a sighting of Mellon Orasi in Bloody bay yesterday, although claimed witnesses were unavailable for comment, due to their untimely death.
To be fair, a level 50 blaster survived a couple of attempts on his life, but others fell repeatedly. Favourite of all was a Warshade who tried my own /tell trick of pretending to be on my side in an attempt to lure me into a trap. A cunning plan that had only three flaws...
1. I'd already seen him, as I bounced around BB.
2. He was showing on /whoall
3. I could see through his stealth, but he couldn't see through my hide.
After I killed him he sent me a message saying "haha! At least I fooled you."
So, I woke up early today to look at the snow and so I'll be bouncing around Bloody Bay for a while now, if anyone wants to come put me in my place... -
[ QUOTE ]
CM is a huge help but not a failsafe, a good stalker can still sneak up on someone who can see themjust because you can see them doesnt mean you will
[/ QUOTE ]
That's right. There's little better than seeing someone standing around basking in the purple glowing head going "I am all that is man!" as you stand next to them and AS them anyway. -
[ QUOTE ]
I just think that no AT should be killed in under 1 second of a fight starting, it's no challenge for the stalker and without it being a challenge it's not fun for either...
[/ QUOTE ]
This is the biggest misunderstanding of the stalker class and the one I try to redress most often - even though this misconception is *not* really the fault of the hero.
To explain, I have a couple of examples.
Firstly, in Sirens a friend of mine entered the zone on the hero side - A scalp I really, really wanted.
I found this particular hero, near to two other heroes at the back and I tried various different angles, but couldn't really find one that looked good. I spent six or seven minutes bouncing around buildings, getting close to the trio and then backing out again, when it didn't look right.
Finally, on looping around a building I found the three heroes standing over a fallen villain. A second later a couple ran off, while the third, my target, stayed, hovering nearby but now alone.
In the next ten seconds I went in, hit build up... impale to shoot down the hovering hero, then placate and AS to finish him off.
Now, our "duel" had lasted almost ten minutes, but because the hero was only aware of the last ten seconds of it, he complained about how "easy" the fight was for me and how little he'd been able to do about it. He'd been successfully "fighting" me for several minutes through his movement, positioning and teaming, but he had no idea about that.
The same happened again in Bloody Bay - A group of level 50s showed up, with a lvl 37 and a lvl 39. They were joined by a level 17 blaster who had been in the zone when they arrived.
They played very well together, using stealth and clear mind to hide from me and attempt to stop me hiding from them. They moved as a group, popping in and out of sight as they moved out of the Dark Scrapper's stealth range.
As they moved from the hero base, to the main island, in toward Ground Zero I kept bouncing around, trying to remain on the edge of their circle, so I could see opportunity should it appear, but not get caught in the middle if I was exposed.
I kept bouncing and falling back, before their Tanker with mudpots on went one way and their Troller with clear mind went the other and I went right down the seam, found the blaster and killed him. Then used break frees to escape the Troller's holds and some superjump skipping to get out of range and back under hide as soon as possible.
Once I was safe the team started complaining about my "cheap" kill and how easy it was for Stalkers and how I should come fight them one on one, if I was any good. Blah blah blah.
The fact is that I worked my butt off for both of those kills, but all I heard in return was how easy life was, because neither hero involved saw any of the work I'd had to do to kill them. All they saw was Assassin Strike! and so they get the impression that any monkey can do this.
Both of those kills were a "challenge" for both me and the hero. The only problem being that I was the only one enjoying the challenge because the hero doesn't get a "lock on" warning that says "YOU ARE BEING STALKED" in red letters on the screen. -
Yeah, I've lost count of the number of times someone has challenged me to come and "fight fair!" then gone on to say I wasn't allowed to use hide or AS.
What!?
I just don't answer people who say things like that. You have to get to the point where people who say daft things like that are entertaining to you, not annoying.
"Fight fair... Don't use any of your powers!" -

You can't go directly to Tactics though, can you? You have to pick something else from the Leadership pool first.
[/ QUOTE ]
Assault is also an option, but tbh I dont know which is better, assault or maneuvers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Assault, I think. I don't think the defensive buff from Maneuvers is enough to make it worthwhile. -
[ QUOTE ]
Dont listen to her!
Its tactics you want, not manouvers, and yellow inspirations are chewy, not crunchy.
Never used yellows much to help, i think the idea is use one after an AS. Hammer said something about igniting the ground. Assuming thats a targetted AoE you can save time by binding it to the shift key+right mouse button. You can also hear the noise buildup makes to know when your likely to get attacked.

Okies, just wondered why the issue of flying heroes was raised, presumably he doesnt have fly.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know why it was raised either - I'm guessing Foamy doesn't know about flying Stalkers.
There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding about what Stalkers can and cannot do. -
[ QUOTE ]
Is there anything in the AR/Eng set to help with perception? Or is it just manuveurs?
[/ QUOTE ]
Maneuvers, (Tactics), is a good place to start as is teaming with an empath Def/Ctrl who can give you clear mind. If you're teaming with someone else who has tactics, then staying close to them will help and there's always those crunchy yellow insps. If you're in Sirens and heroes have the ball, then you can pick up Infra Red Goggles too.
From the now completely useless bin of information, if you'd gone */Dev, then Targeting Drone would increase your accuracy and perception too. -
[ QUOTE ]
Cant you AS a flying hero or something?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, you can. If you can fly too. I can't.
As I have Impale I decided to do without fly and have become pretty useful at hitting someone with impale and judging where they're going to crash land, so that I can be there waiting with placate and AS. -

I WOULD LIKE A SLICE. -
I take a delight in some of the things that I get called over broadcast. I like to play "Stalker bingo" with points awarded for each of the names, on a sliding scale by frequency.
So coward = 1 point, while [censored] [censored] [censored] stalker [censored] [censored] = 10 points.
