While I agree that people ought to be able to lock leagues if they want to, I think the reason most people are pre-forming their leagues is because it's the only way to guarantee that you'll get a FULL league. Every time I've tried to use the queue "as intended", it's thrown me into the trial with a minimum- or near-minimum-sized league. I know that the trials are supposed to scale to the size of the league, but in practical terms, covering the spawn points in BAF or gathering temp powers in Lambda is a lot easier if you have more bodies (plus more players means more buffs and debuffs stacking). If the queue filled leagues to the maximum instead of the minimum, I would be more willing to use it.

Quote:Agreed. I think the queue has a lot of potential, but these trials -- which require a certain amount of coordination and strategy -- are not a very good use for it. Which is why so many people are working around it by forming their leagues in advance. The trouble there is that the queue starts groups with the minimum number of players, and it's a little tough to handle something like Lambda with a random group of 8
The queue would be great for things like Rikti invasions or Mothership raids, which tend to turn into chaotic free-for-alls anyway. -
Quote:That might be significant. Or she might just be lamenting that conventional weapons never seem to work in these situations. Or as the Brigadier once put it, "Just once I'd like to meet an alien species that wasn't immune to bullets."River does say after firing at the Astronaut in part 1, and not killing/hitting it, "of course not".
On the other hand, that does raise the question of why she'd even bother trying to kill the Astronaut with the six-shooter, instead of the high-tech blaster gun she uses later to mow down the Silents... -

"We're gonna go through those Praetorians like crap through a goose!" -
Will anything be happening in Praetoria itself? If all the dimensional barriers are weak, maybe the Rikti or Rularuu could show up over there for a change.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who remembered Noctropolis -- awesome game. Now I want to make a Stiletto homage who's battle-cry is "Don't look at me, you're the city's new hero."

The LFG would be awesome for things like zone events, where you need to get a team together quickly, and don't much care who you end up with. But it's too much of a crap shoot for something as tricky as the incarnate trials.

Not long after I started playing, I was in a PUG going through an office map. The leader decided he wanted to change the difficulty, and told everyone to exit. Everyone else dashed for the door, but I somehow got turned around, and for the life of me, could not figure out how to get to the exit. I was running around in circles, while team chat filled up with polite but firm "Please exit so we can reset" messages. Too embarrassed to admit my dilemma, I finally just said, "Sorry, gotta go!" and quit the team.

I haven't had any crashes during the trials. But the last two BAFs I did, after the trial was completed, and I zoned back into Pocket D, I got a "lost connection to mapserver" message and got kicked back to the login screen. Judging by the Broadcast chatter I saw when I logged back in, the same thing happened to the entire League I was in.

More to the point, if you find ITF too tough, you can go off and do other things to build up your character's power and then come back and try again. With the trials, there's really no alternative -- if you can't hack it, you just have to repeatedly beat your head against the wall until you collect enough "consolation prizes" to boost yourself up. Obviously, some people don't mind that, but for others it's extremely annoying, if not downright depressing (and the usual suggested alternative: "Just find an uber team and leech off of them" isn't exactly thrilling either). It's like throwing lvl 1 characters into Peregrine Island and expecting them to street-sweep their way to 50.

Quote:That's the problem...they're sending mixed messages. "These Trials are extremely tough, and require expert coordination and tactics. So we set up the LFG tab that tosses casual players together in minimum-sized PuGs. Good luck!"Actually they said they want the content to be accessed by many players as possible that wanted to advance.

"Cool World" puts Pitt out of the running, I think (and Gabriel Byrne, for that matter).

Quote:Only if you believe him. Obviously, that 8th guy is part of a Nemesis plot, and should be kicked from the team immediately. If 7 people on the team have never done that TF, but the 8th one has, the 8th one even mentioning that he has done this before breaks the story right then and there, because it's not supposed to have happened yet.
Quote:Likewise, there's no reason they couldn't keep trying the same scheme over in the B.A.F. each time figuring that there's only so many Primal heroes to stop us and maybe we'll get lucky this time. -
Not a "comic book movie" per se, but Jack Lemmon did play a cartoonist in "How to Murder Your Wife".

Quote:Except that once you introduce PvP, it's not the same game anymore. The things I like about PvE -- being able to control the pace and difficulty of the game -- go out the window once you introduce human opponents. The point I'm making is that I like playing games period. And I find it nuts to not play a game that I like with friends because I might find myself up against them in a match. It just doesn't make sense to miss out on doing something I love because all of a sudden I may be trying to score points against *gasp* another human.

I don't like PvP because it's too much pressure. Gritted teeth and frenzied button-mashing are not on my agenda. I keep my difficulty set low and my pace leisurely. I'm here to lower my stress, not raise it.

Salvage - If you're not in the mood to mess with the market, it's ok to just dump stuff at the nearest vendor. Yes, you might sometimes be missing out on a big payday, but there's plenty more salvage where that came from.
Enhancements - Common IOs are a good compromise between convenience and power. They don't expire, and you can buy the recipes directly from the Invention Table, so all you have to worry about it the salvage. This will make you plenty powerful enough for any ordinary task in the game. After a while, you might notice particular weaknesses in your build, and then you can think about maybe slotting in some Set IOs to cover what you lack. But it's entirely optional.
Basically, don't worry about being "bestest with the mostest" right out of the gate. You can keep up just fine with minimal time/inf investment. You don't have to dive headfirst into every aspect of the game at once. Explore the more complicated options at your own pace. -
It's not a big deal to me, but I am a little surprised at how often a teammate will stop to read your fortune in the middle of a fight. I always think, "Really? Is that the most useful thing you could be doing at this moment?"
I admit, I hardly ever cast the fortune myself. I don't play a lot of support characters, so I'm not in the habit of buffing teammates, and half the time I forget the power is even there. -
I'm guessing this is a problem with a particular office map, not the Ice Mistral SF per se. It's probably happening in other office missions too, it's just that we don't notice a missing enemy unless it's a "defeat all" mission.

...realized that it's not true that the Devs hate villains. They just hate me, personally.
