Quote:Just loaded up one of my characters. Level 23 Corruptor, 1 L25 SO in each Swift and Hurdle, Sprint (no run enhancement) and Ninja Run on...Two in each seems slightly excessive, Ninja run with 1 level 50 IO in swift, according to mids, puts you at 41.5 MPH, a second puts you at 43.6 (a second IO in Sprint will do more then a second IO in Swift). Ninja run and a single IO in Hurdle 59.3 MPH jump speed and 41.7 ft with the second, 66.6 MPH and 44.4 ft.
Running Speed: 51.19mph
Jumping Speed: 54.95mph
Jump Height: 34.55ft.
So my numbers in my previous post are probably a bit off. So are yours/Mids', however. -
ONLY on teams and when your concern is speed over all. Grab Stealth and, when you have enough Reward or Alignment Merits, a stealth IO. Then you can head into the middle of most spawns, lay down the Time Bomb, then back off and ready yourself to snipe a hard target or start casting your traps (such as a Trip Mine in case something survives and actually reaches you) when it's about to go off.
Yes, it's slow, but does massive damage (in a safer manner than most attacks), and doesn't crash you like the blast set nukes do. -
If it's to be your actual travel power (regardless of Super Reflexes), going with two SO/IOs each in Swift & Hurdle is the way to go - it'll get you to 55-60mph, roughly, for both run and jump speeds and, IIRC, around 40ft jump height.
-
That's because the weak is pretty much limited to Empty Clips - and then only because of its activation time compared to the other Blaster cones (its damage is the same as Howl & Buckshot, for example) - and its mostly Lethal damage (a late-game concern).

Quote:Er, no, Controller defaults are mag 3 (+1 if Overpower kicks in) for both single target and AoE mezzes, and therefore mez Minions and Lieutenants with no problems - as long as the attack hits (which, at 0.9x Accuracy for a lot of them, isn't a sure thing). You are right, there are for the Controllers/Dominators mostly AOE mez attacks that can be used, but lets n ot exagerate their effectiveness.
If you delve their MAG potencies, as a rule they are only MAG 2, as opposed to the MAG 3 single target effects.
In fact, looking at the data, I can't find any primary mez that's not mag 3. Can't be arsed to check for Dominators or for the (pseudo-)pets, so if they've a mag 2 in there somewhere... *shrug* -
"buying what i can afford". Hint: Run around and open presents. Take the Candy Canes and sell them at the Trading House for 100,000 Inf each. Your money problems will disappear.
For Health & Stamina, you'll probably want 2 slots total in each of them, with Healing & Endurance Modification, respectively.
For attacks, 1 each Accuracy & Endurance Reduction and, as you add slots, 2-3 Damage and a Recharge.
With melee foes being a problem, you might want to pick up Hover at the next opportunity - outside of caves and office & tech map corridors, it's generally 100% protection against melee foes. -
That'd be the effect of the Smoke Grenade and Super Speed's -100% threat rather than any of the stealthing.
-
The Organic Sword, if you haven't seen it. And, yeah, it's only in the Broadsword category, which does suck.
-
There's another solution, if you've given up hope (ie, failed at -1 and no AVs) - exit the mission and go back to Mender Ramiel and choose the completion option. The rest of the arc (another talk and one more non-AV EB fight) is quite easy.
-
Quote:If you've already started a story arc from a contact (ie, they've got the open book icon), then you'll be able to finish it no matter what your level. However, the arc won't scale up and will be at the cap for that contact, so you could easily be fighting greys for it...*I'm new back, played for years took a couple years off*
For the Heroes side how do you play the story arcs that you out leveled?
When I left you just had to clear all your missions and then go back and talk to the person that started the story arc missed to get the low level mission/arc.
How do you do it now? (Or is it still the same and I'm just doing something wrong).
Thanks
(For example, you could stop Stephanie Peebles' L20-24 arc somewhere in the middle and come back at level 40 to finish it, and everything would be grey. My Arch/NRG Blaster stopped to do tips and stuff at level 22 and came back last night at 25 to finish it and the missions are L24, so lots of blues and whites, with a couple of greens here and there)
If you haven't started the story arc(s) from a contact and you've outleveled them, then you're stuck with doing them through the Crystal of Fire and Ice in Ouroboros or your Super Group's base (if they have it). -
Quote:And that's why you fail at this thread - you keep on insisting on bringing in other things that have NOTHING to do with Blasters and Devices.Again not its not pick on Bosstone day, but speaking of his Fire / Device. I see Silverado using his Fire Traps corruptor taking out AVs solo. Yea I understand blaster forum. But we have to be talking about performance and efficiency here and not theme, otherwise all these posting and threads don't mean a thing.

Quote:*sigh* No, it isn't. Go look up the values at City of Data. Overall, it's about the same level as Sonic Attack, just with KB/extra DoT/minor slow/slightly lowered monster damage instead of the -res (which is all that gives Sonic its edge). The only power that is actually weak is Empty Clips with its 2.5s activation time (.17 slower than the weaker Howl cone of Sonic, but a full 1.33s & 1.6s slower than the equal-damage Fistful of Arrows & Buckshot), though it's more balanced if you take into account Swap Ammo.I love the animations, the ammo change, the weapon customization but is underpowered and thats a reality.

The other keys are picking & choosing the enemy groups you fight solo (ie, avoiding the ones with lots of mezzers - knowing is half the battle, after all
, and to carry Break Frees (there is no shame in using inspirations to make up for your build's weaknesses!).

Quote:No, the only bad part about Repulsing Torrent is that it's not affected by Power Siphon, thus taking up time that could be adding to your +dam%.Repulsing Torrent. On the AT's that get it (all but Stalkers) it's pretty much a hindrance. It will knock enemies out of your taunt/damage aura, which can be a death sentence to sets like /Will or /Inv, or even /Dark with it's heal. It's damage is also pitiful.

I would! But I'm weird - I actually like having most of the spawn go bye-bye in a single blast with me waiting in perfect safety to pick off any remaining LTs and Bosses with a couple of more standard shots. Those who like the "Go! Go! Go!" lifestyle should choose a different set. Devices is almost fine as it is for those of us with a smidgen of patience. (the ONLY changes it needs are for the snipe bonus on Targetting Drone to apply to ALL sniper attacks, and for Taser to have some range like the real thing does (35' range for the police/military model would be out of the question, I think, for balance purposes, but the 15' maximum legal civilian range should be fine))
-
Quote:There are no crap powers in Devices, unless you only think in terms of teaming and speed over safety (I'll gladly take 30s to lay a Time Bomb and follow up with Full Auto just as it's about to explode to wipe out all Minions and LTs, and severely weaken any Bosses, before anything can start to damage me while I'm soloingI like Devices because a lot of my blasty-types are meant to be 'natural' origin and Defenders and Corruptors don't get LRM. It's the only real choice. Plus, it has so many crap powers that I don't have to worry about 'finding room' for concept powers.
).
Yes, we know. But Blasters can't take Traps, so we don't care. -
The main problems with Kinetic Melee are that you don't get a spike like you do with Build Up (but, once you have a chain, overall you'll have a higher +dam% for longer with Power Siphon than you will with BU, at the cost of a lower to-hit bonus), and that it LOOKS far slower than it actually is (much like tai-chi, which seems to be the inspiration for the animations).

Quote:Oh, you do go back to Hidden after maybe 5 seconds of not being hit - and not attacking. But doing so for your Assassin's attack will severely lower your damage output and any Stalker who stays out of battle long enough to re-Hide before attacking again tends to be severely hated once they're spotted doing this (using Placate once your Assassin's has recharged is a different matter, of course). Thanks everyone for the feedback - I guess my question had come from a fundamental misunderstanding of both Stalker and Dual Blade mechanics. I thought you automatically went back into "Hidden" status after a set period of time of not being hit, and that to maximize your damage you'd want to use Assassin Strike at that time and maybe interrupt your combos.
-
Quote:That won't be a problem. Regardless of what you do, you have 5 seconds to use the next power in the chain, so you can generally fit in a quick power use (like Placate; maybe not Smoke Flash, though) between attacks if you need to. Or you could change your style a bit and re-stealth *after* the combo's done. Stalkers are quite capable of standing toe-to-toe for a few attacks, after all, even if they're a bit more fragile than Scrappers & Brutes.Hi folks,
I'm going to be rolling my first stalker, but first I wanted to check and make sure my build makes sense. I was thinking with restealthing so often from ninjitsu I wouldn't get a chance to finish any dual blades combos, so it's not really worth it to pick Dual Blades in particular. Anyone have experience with this? -
Quote:Makes perfect sense. You aren't hitting them with a big massive attack - just like snipes, you are attempting to use a precision attack against vital portions of the body. That takes careful aim and concentration, hence why they're interruptable.AS could not be interrupted, and presumably, if it was coded right, you will not lose any damage as long as you clicked it before some AoE dropped you out of hide. And if you were desperate for another single target attack, you could use it as such. Honestly, the animation should be LIKE a regular attack. Stalkers are not blasters, why would it take forever and a day to line up a strike against a target your standing right next to ? Doesnt make much sense really.

Back to the original topic of free-to-play, it seems that they're doing pretty good with it over at Turbine, what with LotRO's profits tripling since the move to F2P... And I hear that SOE's quite happy with how EQ2 is doing after introducing their F2P version of it, EQ2 Extended (well, F2P if you don't want to be able to chat with other people or have a mount or anything resembling inventory space :P).
Personally, I hope CoH stays subscription with the occasional new cash shop goodies pack. -
I mostly go with Technology origins, mainly robots and cyborgs - so easy to get a unique name when you call 'em "NounBot" or "NounBorg" and attach a model number, such as PowerBot-6942, my Ele/Ele Dominator. Sometimes I'll get a bit fancier, though, such as my Dual Pistols/Radiation Emission Corruptor, a street thug that was captured by Crey who then implanted him with microcircuitry and radiation emitters (which just happen to make him look like his face and arms are heavily tattooed, but leave him otherwise normal), but that sort of thing is rare.
When I'm feeling really lazy, I go with Mutation - pretty much a catch-all for the majority of costumes & possible power set combinations and doesn't require even the slightest justification for why the Super is spewing out lightning bolts while surrounded by a field of fire... -

You also don't benefit from (or use it up) from defeats within Mission Architect missions.
