    *pokes server*

God! About to get a Winter Lord badge, and then bam...

I really freaking detest how this server is behaving this weekend.

  3. Boy, I guess the Oxygen Destroyer would finally have a use outside of being the butt of radio mission jokes. How else are you gonna put out a giant flaming monkey?
  4. Hmmm, that's not too bad of an idea now that I think about it.

Handy advice, certainly. A Six slotted lockdown should be easy, too.
  5. So I finally decided to go back and look at my slotting, and I've realized that Power Surge isn't doing me any good with five slots.

A lot of builds that I've seen have been three slotted for recharge, but is there any point in placing anything in it besides three recharges?

Your petitions may not be descriptive enough.

Stupid question, but you're checking your EMail to see the follow-ups for your petitions, right?
  7. Hmmm, handy to know, and good food for thought. I'll have to analyze my potential build and see what I can move around...

EDIT: One more question, how well does Burn work for a /Fire scrapper? I'd think that, without an AE taunt, it would probably be a wasted power.

I'm taking combat jumping for the immobilize protection, so I'm not terribly worried about immobilize protection, and I'm going to invest in a knockback protection IO, so I'm not worried about going all the way for Acrobatics in the jumping pool either.
  8. Good evening, everyone.

What with the Martial Arts Booster being released, and some interesting looking DB options being provided (To say nothing of the sweet looking flame robes), I've decided I wanted to try a DB/Fire Scrapper.

It seems to me that it comes into a lot of its best powers really early, which pleases me, but it also leaves me wondering.

With Healing Flames and Consume, how efficient would fire be if I just passed on the Fitness Pool entirely? I know I can certainly do it, but will it be a serious challenge, or will those two powers be enough that I won't even miss Health and Stamina?

Also, as this is my first time with BOTH of these power sets, are there any tricks that I should know? Powers I should avoid?

    Thanks in advance!
  9. Thank you very much for the assistance! I appreciate it! Hopefully this will be resolved.
  10. Got'cha.

Best way to do it: Petition or EMail?
  11. Nope, I didn't. I paid for ninety days in June, and then when NC soft announced the bonus time, I bought another full year plus two months at the beginning of September, prior to the subscription lapsing.
  12. But that's just it. I've been playing for ninety days since my last reward was earned. July 6th -> August 6th -> September 6th -> October 6th.

Heck, technically, I should have gotten the reward on October 4th.
  13. Hello everyone, I've got a slight problem, or at least a discrepency.

Aside from a couple months at the beginning of CoH's life, and a couple of days last year where I was out of town when my account was set to expire, I've been constantly subscribed to CoH.

So why is my veteran's reward time a month off?

    42 months - Fervent Jul 1, 2008
    45 months - Eternal Oct 7, 2008
    48 months - Battle Hardened Jan 6, 2009
    51 months - To Be Announced Apr 8, 2009
    54 months - To Be Announced Jul 6, 2009
    57 months - To Be Announced Nov 6, 2009

I should have gotten my next reward today, but it's a month off.

Any idea what could cause this? And furthermore, who should I contact to get this resolved?
  14. Evening everyone.

With I16, I'm quite pleased to have the opportunity to make one of the characters I've visualized since Beta. Thing is, I'm not QUITE sure if this build is where I want it to be. It's a little slot-heavy, and I'm kind of disappointed with how late some slots come into play.

However, getting into specifics would be nitpicking, so here's the build.

Now, of course, a couple of notes.

One, it's a theme build, hence why I took Teleport. I plan an alternate build for things like Hami Raids and the like, but that's still a ways away.

Two, I know the enhancements themselves are expensive, this is just an ideal to work towards.

And three, this is my first time playing a rez-based scrapper, or Rez-based anything really. (I've had a lot of luck with a peacebringer in Dwarf, but that's kind of a different beast.) Any advice I can get for slotting, power-order, etc. I'd be grateful for.

Yep. I'm sitting here staring at a near constant "Lost Connection to Mapserver".

Ah, it really is double XP weekend.
  16. I can't seem to find a way to reproduce it, but it's happening quite frequently.

A LOT of NPCs are stuck doing the sped-up "Hit their fist into their palm" then "Yell" emote loop, rather than whatever emotes they have been directed to use. This is most obvious in architecht maps, but I've seen it happen in non-Architect Missions and the city zones as well.

So, I got my Blood Widow to level 24 today (after only a week of soloing!) and jumped-shift to the Night Widow branch. But after doing a couple missions solo, something definitely doesn't seem right.

When I was a Blood Widow, I was soloing bosses fairly easy. All I needed was one purple inspiration and I would just go to town. But now it seems as a Night Widow, even after the critical hit with build up, I'm using two purples, and numerous greens. I'm also being sent into the orange/red HP level in regular groups. I never had this problem as a Blood Widow. All I did in the respec was swap Follow Up with Build Up and Foresight with Mask Presence.

My current night Widow build is as follows.

If I could get some advice here, or right here in this thread, I'd be immensely grateful.

Let's see: Ramblings as I do the missions...

Mission 1: The Glowie was around the first corner, I literally walked in, clicked it, and completed the mission. Might be helpful to move it to the back, or add the boss' defeat as a requirement (cute name on him, btw, though I'd look into removing the "@" signs in his name, maybe switch those out for the number "4"? Just to make it visually pleasing. Plus, what makes the Freakshow server so special? I didn't see anything mentioned that should make their base any more important to attack then any other.

Mission 2: Placeholder? I can't tell if that's what it's supposed to be, or something that hasn't been finished yet. The turn in text has a slight typo, "the diagnostic reports from Crey' computers" needs an 's' for Crey's.

Mission 3: Maybe involve the original server somehow? Perhaps as a destructible item. Again, the name of the Freak boss is good, but those "@" signs just don't feel right to me.

Mission 4: The Extra supplies in the mission could be more 'useful' to the mission. Perhaps attach an ambush to them (a Longbow ambush maybe?), because they feel entirely unimportant and skippable.

Mission 5: Dr. Aeon should probably show up alone, not with NPCs around him. I know that's probably not doable, so having his spawn contain Arachnos troops instead of the Custom enemies might be the next best thing. He did spawn at the front of the mission, which is totally acceptable, as that's where he should be if he were a 'normal' ally. Alternatively, you could have him as an Ambush that shows up when you "upload" him by activating a glowie in the mission. The final boss shouldn't use the "$name" or "$himher" for inactive text, as she doesn't have anyone to target to use it on. Save those things for the Active text, or mid-fight. Thugs seems to be a strange set for her, but I can't complain, my WS was insta-capped on resistance, accuracy, and damage thanks to Posse. I'd probably look into Robots instead, but that's me.

Over All: I like it, and the Contact was enjoyable. I'd like it more if the AI advanced each time, going up in number and getting more powers / powerful. The clues were decent enough, and the ending was good. I guess I would like more of a sense that the AI was growing each time it was fought, with a different costume / look. But in the end, I liked it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you for the critique and advice! That's exactly the sort of thing I've been looking for.

I'm still trying to figure out WHY the server is spawning at the beginning of the first mission. As near as I can tell, having the optional boss spawn at the back of the mission seems to be kicking it to the front. (I'd like them to spawn close to each other, but... that doesn't seem like it's going to happen.)

All of your other observations are definitely things I'll be taking into consideration. I really appreciate you taking the time to give me that feedback. (I really like your idea about destroying the original server in mission 3. I'll have to make that happen somehow if I can figure out the placement issues.)

  21. Rats. I was afraid you might say that.
  22. So, I've got a boss that's got a rather voluminous speech in his unaware text.

Is there any way I can make him produce two speech bubbles for everything?

At the risk of sounding ungrateful...

Is there really nothing that can be done about the spirit spawn rate before the end of the event? It will be a full year before we've got the chance to get the badge associated with them again, so being told that it won't be fixed in time to apply to this event is more than just a little disheartening for badge collectors.

Don't get me wrong, I love this event! I just love badges too, and having a "collect them all" mindset being confronted with not being realistically able to is disappointing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hi JChaos,

We completely agree that it would be great to fix the issue with the Spirits. A number of people here are upset as well about the badge for their own characters (yes, we play too!). However, getting such a fix out there would impact the schedule for Issue 13. We'd totally do that for an exploit fix, but for this issue we felt, that while painful for those interested in it, is something we'll have to leave as is.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

PVP RUINED HALLOWEE.. wait, somebody already made that joke?

Seriously, though... if it's that big an issue, then it's understandable. I'll just be sure to farm extra hard.

    As you wish!

And then, one day, Texas_Justice realized that when Castle was saying, "As you wish," what he really meant was, "I love you."

(Sorry, couldn't help myself. ObOP: Yeah, I'm a little disappointed that we only get two issues this year, too, but with it being late July and only starting to get teasers, I'd already figured that out.)

Koschej: I promise I will not mod you until you reach the end of the thread.
InfamousBrad: That's VERY comforting, but I'm afraid you'll just have to wait.
Koschej: I hate waiting. I could give you my word as a Moderator.
InfamousBrad: No good. I've known too many Moderators.
Koschej: Isn't there any way you trust me?
    InfamousBrad: Nothing comes to mind.
Koschej: I swear on the soul of my manager, Lightingo Housetoya, you will reach the end unmodded.
InfamousBrad: Throw me the scroll bar.

Ok, back on topic now please.

BAB may have won the thread, but Koschej just took home the gold in the Nerdlympics.
