  1. Here follows a short guide to Radiation Blast and Kinetics (my all time favourite set) and my experience in playing them both. Obviously if you're reading this, you're interested in my opinion, though if by the end of the guide you disagree with me, feel free to do so- though I do appreciate constructive criticism. So without further ado, I shall be as succinct as possible...

    Radiation Blast
An excellent blast set, not only does it come with an excellent disorient (Cosmic Burst), the defense debuffs it provides lessens the need for accuracy.

    Neutrino Bolt
Some love it, some hate it. No one can argue that it's fast, and carries a defense debuff like all your other attacks-10% for 3 seconds. If you do happen to set it on auto fire, or use it almost as often it might be worth investing in a proc IO like a Chance for Build Up or Chance to Hold.
Recommended slotting: 1 Accuracy, 2-3 Damage

    X-Ray Beam
A more powerful attack, and of course more fun (who doesn't love shooting laser beams from their eyes?)Also 20% defense debuff for 6 seconds.
Recommended Slotting: 1 Accuracy, 3 Damage

    Irradiate
Your first AOE attack. The damage may be low, but the defense debuff it carries is 30% for 10 seconds! Not to be overlooked.
Recommended Slotting: 1 Accuracy, 2-3 Defense Debuff

    Electron Haze
A nice cone attack, decent damage,20% defense debuff for 8 seconds and 25% chance of a knockback. Corners are your friend with this power, as is a team mate who can immobilize.
Recommended Slotting: 1 Accuracy 3 Damage

    Proton Volley
Your Sniper power, it has the same defense debuff as Irradiate(30%) for 12 seconds, and deals a nice chunk of damage. Remember however that it IS interruptible, and will cost you a decent amount of endurance if you're interrupted.
    Recommended Slotting: 1 Accuracy,3 Damage,1-2 Interrupt

    Aim
A considerable to hit buff (42.5%) and the same buff to your damage. Always worth taking.
    Recommended Slotting: 3 Recharge

    Cosmic Burst
My favourite power in the set. Another high defense debuff (30%) for 12 seconds, an 8 second Mag 3 stun and high damage to boot. Do yourself a favour and pick this power up as soon as it's available.
Recommended Slotting: 1 Accuracy, 3 Damage, 1-2 Stun

    Neutron Bomb
Targeted AOE, moderate damage and 20% defense debuff for 16 seconds. Pretty self explanatory, and I love the animation too =D
Recommended Slotting: 1 Accuracy, 3 Damage

    Atomic Blast
Slightly less damage compared to the other sets novas, though it carries a 40% defense debuff for 20 seconds as well as an 11 second Mag 3 hold. What it lacks in damage it more than makes up for in its secondary effects-if anything is still standing after you hit this, they'll likely be staggering around while you recover =)
Recommended Slotting: 1 Accuracy, 3 Damage, 2 Recharge (if you use it often)

    Kinetics
My personal favourite secondary EVER! Not only is it self sufficient, it goes from strength to strength in teams.

    Transfusion
Your first kinetics power, the equal first largest heal in the game! It also has a small -regen debuffs which comes in handy for fighting EBs/AVs. Remember, that as with most kinetics powers, the AOE effect is centered around the targeted mob, so get up close and personal =P
    Recommended Slotting: 2 Accuracy,2 Heal, 2 Recharge

    Siphon Power
A nice buff/debuff to damage, though in this case the AOE is centered around you. Practice can lead you to place yourself in a good position while teaming to pass this buff on to your teammates.
Recommended Slotting: 1 Accuracy, 1 Recharge

    Repel
A toggle knockback power, I have tried it, and can see its potential, though in the end I decided as most do that it doesn't suit my playstyle.
    Recommended Slotting: 1-2 Endurance Reduction

    Siphon Speed
A mini travel power available to you early on, it also provides excellent maneuverability in combat where I personally use it most. Not to mention the 20% recharge boost it offers.
    Recommended Slotting: 2 Accuracy,1-2 Recharge,1-2 Slow

    Increase Density
Mez protection for your teammates, especially good in the 40-50 levels. Handy to have though there's no rush- I tend to pick this power up at level 30.
    Recommended Slotting: 1 Damage Resist

    Speed Boost
Most people love it for the 50% recharge, it also adds 50% Recovery and a significant boost to run and flight speed. It'll make you popular in teams, though be mindful that some people do not want his buff.
    Recommended Slotting: 2-3 Endurance Modification

    Inertial Reduction
It's essentially Super jump, though since I'm not a fan I usually skip it. A single recharge will ensure that it overlaps and you won't be left stranded.
Recommended Slotting; 1-3 Jump, 1 Recharge

    Transference
This excellent power drains a considerable amount of end from the targeted foe, buffing anyone's end within the AOE.
Recommended Slotting: 2 Accuracy, 2 Endurance Modification, 2 Recharge

    Fulcrum Shift
A considerable damage buff, it buffs your damage 40%, as well as an additional 20% for each target hit within the AOE. Remember that you have to stand in the AOE to get the additional 20% buff/s.
Recommended Slotting: 2 Accuracy, 3 Recharge

    Pools:
    Fighting
Not much use for a corruptor

    Fitness
MANY people recommend fitness purely to get stamina. I will chime in and recommend it, though I also advise that it isn't necessary- my current build does not include it.

    Flight
I love to fly, and the prerequisite power Air Superiority is just excellent for kinetics =)

    Invisibility
Quite nice to be able to stealth missions, Phase Shift is especially useful for getting past Rikti Drones

    Leadership
Potentially useful if you have power choices to spare, I manage just fine without it though

    Leaping
Not much point in taking this, unless you're after the toggles as you already get a version of Super Jump in your secondary

    Manipulation
I don't see much use for this pool, especially for a corruptor

    Medicine
Nice for the rez power, or for an additional heal between fights

    Speed
Hasten stacks nicely with Siphon Speed, and Super speed is of course a fast travel power- beware of buildings and stray cardboard boxes though...

    Teleportation
Recall friend is handy, especially if you've taken invisibility. Teleport self CAN be the fastest travel power, provided you have no lag issues.

    Playing a Rad/Kin

I'll tell you now, that my playstyle is rather different from most other people's. I buff first. When heading into a fight, especially in a team situation I open up a fight focusing on keeping everyone speed boosted, using Siphon Speed for myself, spamming Transfusion/Fulcrum Shift and Transference as required. Then I launch into an assault at the appropriate moment- I find I get the most out of my blasting by waiting for scourge to start kicking in (50% of target's health), especially if I plan on using Atomic Blast.
As far as using said Atomic Blast, kinetics offers a most excellent combo that is quite commonly used; Hitting Aim, followed by Atomic Blast, and if there's any mobs left standing pop a Blue Inspiration and use Transference. All going well, you've all but destroyed a mob, and have your endurance bar topped up to keep going.
Use Cosmic Burst liberally on anything that looks at you the wrong way while you tango with whatever else is thrown your way. Your kinetics powers should be sufficient at keeping you alive and on top of most fights.

Well, that's my guide for now, I hope you all like it, and as I said above I do appreciate constructive criticism, so feel free to do so.
  2. I see a niche- I'll start writing one right away

    Smoothing the XP Curve
One thing that we constantly examine is the rate of advancement in the game. In a future version, we intend to smooth out the leveling curve by changing how much experience is given out for defeating opponents. The intent is to smooth out the “bumps” where players typically get stuck leveling up their characters. Keep an eye on coming patch notes for specifics.
    Real Numbers
As a general quality of life improvement we will be adding new functionality in a coming version of the game to display the “real” numbers behind your characters and their powers. This includes a user configurable display of important characteristics such as movement rate, regeneration rate, resistances and many more! Additionally, you will be able to see how those statistics are affected in real time by buffs and/or debuffs affecting your character.
    Issue #12
While we’re not announcing the specifics of what will be included in the next free expansion, Issue #12, we do want to reiterate that we will continue to add great new free additions to the game in 2008. The team is working hard to ensure our next free expansion will be an exciting, feature-filled addition to the game.

I thought (and I could be wrong) SPIDER was based out of Italy and was a fascist regime run by Weaver before Recluse took it over.

Edit - CaptainAmazing types faster than I do.

I have read The Web of Arachnos like..five times :P Don't feel bad I correct people irl when they talk about recluse..or I would if..anyone would...most just run away when i start going on about this game :<

Speaking of...I've never read Web of Arachnos, though I'd love to- where might I find a copy?
  9. 70 years huh? Manti and Recluse eh?...WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?!!!
  10. head on out to Sydney next =D
  11. I actually use myspace on a semi-regular basis and don't see the harm in trying. More people knowing about CO* is a good thing IMO =)
  12. er, perhaps I missed something in the 47 pages...what power sets won?
  13. hoorah, looks like my hero will be getting some love, maybe even level 50.....
  14. [quoteDensity Control or Vibration I'm not sure of.

    [/ QUOTE ]
for density i'm imagining powers like rooted/granite armour for massive defense/res, but then on the flip side perhaps something akin (pun intended) to Inertial reduction perhaps? A mix of both could be feasible I guess...
As for vibration I'm imagining Synapse and breakneck from the comic, superspeeding so fast they can "vibrate" and save themselves some damage-or get themselves out of cuffs if the situation requires =P

<-- will take a mekman and several badge pls

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you poke around the Europe site, they display some most excellent looking Enamel Badges. I've been trying to figure out a way to get me some.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll have one of those arachnos badges thanks
As an aside, I like the idea of having comic artists to draw your toons for you. While I live in Australia and likely won't be able to come along (unless of course someone wants to venture out to Supernova next time it's on) I'd imagine that this would be a lovely addition to any kind of convention/roadshow/whatever happens to eventuate
  16. what about australia? It seems apparent that EB games here have recalled all their current COV timecards and no-one knows what's happening. Please tell me that it's because they're getting these new time cards...
  17. speaking of khelds, I still want one, and next issue! I was disappointed when i read that little Q&A response that stated:
Matt Miller: Epic Archetypes (EAT) are never easy. Even simply opening up Kheldians to Villains is ripe with unforeseen consequences and problems. And designing one from the ground up, creating the new powers, animations, FX, sounds, and mission content starts getting expensive development wise. Then there is the game balance factor to consider.

EAT’s have been on the features list of most of the issues since Issue 4. The problem is, when determining workloads and schedules, they are unfortunately some of the first things that are cut. From a production standpoint, when given the choice between an expensive feature 10% of the players will get to see and enjoy, and one that 90% of the players will get to see and enjoy, it’s almost a no-brainer.

That being said, EAT’s will remain features to add to the game. We are not abandoning the concept (I’d have told you if we were). We just need to get them into a schedule and have them stick.
  18. can the trenchcoat tails be fixed? They move beautifully if I jump, fly, turn around or lie face down in the sewer- but the second i start to run my trenchcoat tail sticks out, rigid as cardboard. I think it deserves the same flowing animation the other movements allow it. Thanks ya =D
