  1. Ranged attacks are useful when the mobs are running away with a sliver of health and you don't want to have to chase them down. I've recently taken Luminous Detonation for the first time and it definitely has its uses, especially when on a team.

I must confess that it's a big difference when I switch over to my PB from my Spines Scrapper in terms of damage dealt but then Scrappers don't have anywhere near the versatility of Kheldians. I love them precisely because while best at no single role they can do so much; whether healing, to blasting, to being an off tank, or backup scrapper, or mini-controller--It just never gets boring.

Not getting why people think PBs don't do much damage either. Having no problem taking down even level EBs when solo or doing lots of damage to AVs when teamed and the dps from Nova and Human form seems just sick. I guess I do sometimes need damage inspirations to help out but that's what they are there for. You all playing with your difficulty ranking set for +4 level mobs or what?

Warshades definitely seem to be the harder AT to master as far as I can tell. From a game designer perspective that might mean that they are the ones that need a buff if the goal is to make them easy to play for the largest number of people.
  3. I get the feeling I"m playing a different game than the people who insist that PBs need a buff. Usually when I team with a Warshade he or she ends up dying while my PB remains upright and happily plugging away. I've certainly never been on a team where I've felt out performed by a WS.

It's a pretty big risk (mez) for very limited benefit (2-3 attacks worth of +72% damage buff). If you don't have to worry about mez, why did you dwarf to start with?

A +damage build is unlikely to yield more than +25-30% damage buffing... and as they say, a billion times zero is still zero. Or a house is only as good as its foundation. White dwarf's DPS has a terrible foundation.
The base damage has also been greatly improved from what it used to be too. Back in my day we had to walk to school and it was uphill both ways!

There's plenty of reason to use Dwarf even if you have a break free or mezz protection from a teammate. It still gives you better damage resistance than human form when LF is recharging not to mention the ability to teleport and another heal and an AOE melee power that rocks. In my experience if I"m shifting forms rapidly in a fight it translates to an I win button.

If you already have most of your powers maxed out for damage plus what bonus damage you get from IO sets and Cosmic Balance (I usually get around +40-60% bonus on most teams) and Dwarf form still isn't working for you then I doubt Musculature is going to satisfy you either.

    Essence Mastery

Some really great ideas in this thread. I never thought Kheldians even needed an ancillary pool until reading it. One epic power I'd like to have for both Kheldian AT's is a way to get an Air Superiority clone since we are locked out of taking the Flight pool.
  6. How is Pulsar awful? I never tried it until recently on test and was shocked to find that it's very useful in stunning Rikti mobs and even Chief Mentalists or whatnot before they could mezz you. All in all it seemed like a great power that recharges relatively fast and provides some much needed mez protection. Also I thought the problem the OP had with SF was mainly that you can't use it while flying. The knockback has never bothered me although I do make the effort to try to use it on the edge of a fight to push mobs towards my teammates rather than away from them.

Here's an example of a build I'm currently using on my PB that spends a lot of time in all four forms. The three blank enhancement slots in Health are for when I19 hits with its inherent Fitness as I'm gonna take Radiant Strike. I also need to free up a couple of slots for Pulsar and maybe switch out SF for Luminous Detonation as the OP suggested. Even though it still needs lots of work and is nowhere near fully IO'd out it makes for a very effective Scrapper in human form as is. Naturally it can also be a Blaster in Nova Form and Tank in Dwarf so yes, the perfect jack of all trades.

  7. My Triform PB on live just doesn't seem to need any more damage or suvivability when in Dwarf considering that it's quick and easy to set up a bind or macro to drop into human form and activate Build Up (or Hasten or whatever) and then switch back to Dwarf very quickly which I can usually do in the middle of a fight without getting hit. Not that I often need to as it seems to be able to defeat most foes pretty quickly for a tank even without upping its damage. We can now get damage increases from IO sets and the Inherent damage boost applies to forms. Don't we have to stop complaining about supposed meager Kheldian Dwarf damage at some point?

By the way, Warshades actually have 4 attack powers in Dwarf form (5 if you count the proc they can slot into Antagonize) and a way to buff their damage output via Mire without shifting form.
  8. Wow! You should be a monster in Nova or Dwarf with that build. You would probably be better off putting a Freebird +Stealth into Energy Flight and then a Karma KB protetion into Combat Flight. In any case the plus stealth you get from the Freebird IO pretty much means you don't need to take Stealth or Quantum Flight unless you employ a strategy that demands them a lot. Pulsar would be a great addition if you decide to drop either of those powers or CJ, which taken at level 47 isn't exactly gonna be a game changer for you.

Impervius Skin: Status Resistances in each of your optional shield powers are also nice to have when in Human Form as they can stack to significantly reduce the amount of time you spend mezzed.

Were you planning to PvP? Cause with PVE the most KB protection IOs you need is probably two (-8) and that might actually be overkill most of the time. Procs are also nice to have in your weaker/faster recharging attacks including the ones from the forms (I'd put one in BN Bolt before BN Detonation the way you have). You can even put a proc into your Dwarf taunt to make it an attack that can do some damage.

I guarantee that a level 50 PB could easily do the same thing to a bunch of level 49 Rikti, provided you can find some somewhere. In the RWZ they seem to jump pretty much from 46 to 51-54 with few in between of course and you can't level your toon past 50. On the other hand I've never run into a PPD Transcended that my PB couldn't stomp into the ground. Even when using that AE feature that allows you to fight an identical copy of yourself, you are going to come out on top every time cause the AI just doesn't seem to use Kheldian powers very effectively.

You are on! I think I can manage to fit that in for one of my 3 builds.
  11. The idea of a personal nemesis is a great one. Maybe they will add it in at some point and not just for SOAs although their arc could use serious some fleshing out compared to the Kheldian one in my opinion.
  12. I went for the Cardiac Boost because my human only PB on beta already seems to do enough damage with Build Up and Photon Seekers and Solar Flare/or Dawn Strike. Not to mention big single target damage from Incandesent Strike and Radiant Strike or the damage boost from CB. I've already got Tactics for the + to hit and Assault for increased damage plus it is just great to have them as well as Maneuvers for teaming. 3 slotted Hasten increases my recharge adequately. So the one thing I need most of is reduced endurance cost to keep my 6 toggles running when not in Light Form. Even the extra damage resistance seems to help with survivability (probably as much or more than extra healing would) for an SO enhancement build anyway. Not sure why I would need more defense debuff either when so many of my attacks have high levels of it already.

She transformed from burning up endurance inspirations quite heavily to an awesome unstoppable killing machine which almost never needs them. Many of her toggles keep running even after firing off Dawn Strike or the crash from LF, so much so that I wonder if it's not a bug?

Well, I can get up to 38 miles an hour jumping speed (23' jumping height!) from Hurdle with a SO Jump enhancement in the form and 21 mph running speed with single slotted Swift. If you can stand the noise it's pretty awesome. Who wants to organize the first Lobster race in Perez or Steel Canyon to celebrate?

I thought they fixed that in a non retarded way so that instead of stunning yourself (hilarious!) or just not working (sucks!) it simply granted the target a temporary aura (unless they already have one from a previous application of the proc) which has a chance of stunning any enemy in melee range or even at some greater distance. Apparently not though and I guess that would require a different proc to be created for slotting in offensive powers. Regardless, Human Form only PBs can still have mad control skills.

It's not a big help but since it's always on in Stamina it fires enough to be noticable. With it and the other control procs available you can turn your HF into a Scraptroller. The point was the OP was trying to find something different to set the human only build apart from the other forms.
  16. Instead of thinking of your human form only as only a scrapper you might try to use IO procs like Devastation: Chance of Hold in both Glinting Eye and Gleaming Blast and Energy Manipulator: Chance to Stun in Stamina along with Pulsar to give it a different feel and utility than what the forms provide. These kinds of controls are mostly useful against minions of course but I still find them fun to have.
  17. Won't this change remove most of the reasons to have a human form only build? I've just been playing around with Mids and it looks like with the help of IO's my triform PB will be able to pick up and 4 slot another human form melee attack which means it will go from being a good scrapper to a great one (especially when those Alpha Slot Cardiac things which give another 20% damage resistance become available!) and it can already blast and tank pretty effectively.

Also, Group Energy Flight and Quantum Flight actually might be worth taking now, amazingly enough.
  18. I'd like to nominate Library Restoration Project - When Astoria Fell: Arc ID # 331736 by Witty Librarian because it's part of one of the funnest multiple arc storyline I've seen done in MA and I'm really curious to see what the author would do with another MA story slot. The other Library Restoration Project arcs are also fantastic and I would encourage anyone searching for a good AE experience to try them all out.
  19. Thanks for doing this great contest again! Totally looking forward to playing everyone's nominations. There is one MA author that immediately springs to my mind as being vastly underappreciated and more than worthy of any and all honors, namely one Witty Librarian of Champion renown. I went ahead and nominated the latest arc from said author as both a heroic and villainous arc because; Pirates! It's also very funny and has a wicked custom group. Do yourself a favor and play Witty Librarian's other arcs if you haven't already and are looking for a real treat.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Khelds! You life will be much easier if you set up a bind or macro to help seek out your nemesis Something like:

/macro QVS find "target_custom_next enemy alive quantum$$target_custom_next enemy alive void$$target_custom_next enemy alive cyst$$target_custom_next enemy alive dwarf$$target_custom_next enemy alive nova"

Also useful is having a bind or macro set up to alert your team mates with an attention getting battle cry whenver one of them nasty buggers is sighted so they can help out. There are guides at the top of this forum that show you how to do it all better than I am explaining it and provide much other lifesaving information.

Yeah, that works. Which is why I'm currently spending I don't want to think about how many millions of influence in a vain attempt to give me some useful status protection. They should just increase the amount of protection you get from teaming was the point because what's being offered now is too weak to help much most of the time.
  22. I do often find it annoying that you can't use Solar Flare when flying. This thread has inspired me to try out Luminous Detonation instead in my alternate build. Thanks.
  23. Having played a PB to 50 I can honestly say that I've never had WS envy. Usually when I team with a WS he or she ends up dying while my merry PB keeps right on chugging. Even if Warshades are better at end game stuff it wouldn't be fair to buff Peacebringers when they seem to have the advantage on survivability at the lower levels.

I've never minded the crash from Light Form either cause three minutes is a very long time in game terms and you usually have plenty of opportunity to get into a position where popping Essence Boost or some other of your heals will get you safely back into the fight. Only changes I'd make to either Kheldian is to somehow increase Mez protection for Human and Nova (at least while grouping) and maybe also give Dwarf form a slight damage increase from CB/DS.
