  1. I agree. The devs have show that they do not want people to afk farm. They have made a lot of changes in the last 3+ years to get rid of afk activities. So why allow them to continue?

I know badges do nothing for you (with the exception of a few). So why have them so high? I understand the accomplishment part but really? Some of the parameters for the badges are ridicules.

Rikiti monkeys were dropped because of the farming methods people had to use. Why not some of the other "epic" badges? I like badges but really some of them are too much, and require afk methods to get.

I would like to see a change.
  2. I will miss you Cuppa. I have always enjoyed your posts and fairness. See you over at Tabula Rasa. So I guess I won’t miss you after all. We will just be in a different colored forum.
  3. I know what you mean and I agree 100%. The new animations are ok but really feel slow. I also liked swipe and have had it on all my claw scrappers. I don't care about DPS it's all about feel for me.

So my advise is too play with it a lot and try too find an attack chain that feels good too you. Me I think I am going with Swipe, Slash (btw this power got the best up date), Follow Up, Focus, and Spin. To me if feels about as good as my old chain of Swipe, Strike, Spin, Focus, Eviscerate.

    Boss Changes

Thank you for your response on this issue, but I have (as have others) noticed a few problem with you general statements. First as a solo player I have noticed that boss spawn in just about every one of my missions so far (level 27). Add to the fact that the mission text says nothing to this extent. Not only that but a lot of the time I will have more than one. Add another player and it gets even tougher. As for increasing the bosses to +1 of there normal state Are you sure? It seams to me that they are a lot tougher now (i.e. doing more damage, more hit points, better acc., and better def) all that stuff. I play a scrapper as my main and I am having a really hard time. I think I am a good player and I have a decent build (not the "best" but good). I like soloing my mission because I get a chance to read the clues and other things. In a group it's all about the exp, and killing things as fast a we can. Not a lot of time to read especial if I have to be more on guard because a team of 8 can spawn a lot of bosses. I like teaming because things do get tougher, and yes a good 8 player team can run through things rather quickly. But I thought the difficulty for the solo player was just fine. I had a lot of fun fighting two bosses (Tsoo and The Family) at the same time. It's was the end of a story arc and one of my favorite memories. Now if I see one boss and I don't have full inspirations I have to run like a girl (no offence to girls just an expression) back and forth until I kill him. It can take up to 10 min to beat a boss that's +2 level which in reality is +4 (if I understand what you are saying that math should be right if not I am sorry). I only tried to take +4 bosses with a group and even them I found it not to be worth it at all. Bosses now are making my game not as fun an a lot more teadus.

Now I think you can see where I am coming from. I see where you are coming from. So let me make a few suggestions. First Bosses should be bosses and they should last longer in a fight. But I think the increases across the board are a little harsh. Toning down the damage and the HP would help. Second if solo missions (except for named boss and end of story arcs) are not to spawn bosses I think you should check the data on that because they are spawning in mission and at around +0 to +2 in my experience. I am sure you have seen the boards to know that I am not the only one experiencing this problem which according to you per your statement it is a problem. Third why not just up the difficulty of named bosses and such and leave the regular bosses alone or give them a small increase? Or have the boss’s difficulty ramp up according to the number of team mates? Fast fights are fun, and I like them to be challenging but right now they are taking too long (solo or grouping). I don’t mean taking too long as in I am not getting x amount of exp per min, but the fights are boring. I love this game and I love what you have done with it. I just think theirs an issue with the bosses right now. You have a vision of how they should be but I don't think it's working quite the way you want it, but I could be wrong. All I am asking is you take a look at it and give us an answer as to whether you think any thing is going to change. If things don't change I am not going to leave I just think that the fun of fighting bosses has been sucked out of them. Like you said fun is the name of the game. Thank you for your time, and sorry for being a pain in the boot.
  10. 2. What is the “Vision” for CoH?

Our vision for City of Heroes is to deliver an enjoyable game experience to players regardless of their MMP experience. A person should be able to log into City of Heroes, play an hour, have fun and accomplish something. A player should be able to find something to do solo, while team ups should be enjoyable & rewarding. City of Heroes is meant to emulate the world of comic book heroes as much as possible within the constraints of a MMP.

    5. Why did you incorporate a mission slider to make some missions more difficult and increase the boss difficulty level when bosses make up such a large percentage of missions?

We’ve found that as players go up in level, minions and lts. become much easier to defeat – to the point where it’s boring. Players instead resort to street sweeping in order to find something tough enough that’s both fun and rewarding. Missions, however, are a great part of the game! So we wanted to give players an ability to raise the level of the spawns within a mission so that they could make missions as fun & rewarding as their skill dictated.

Well the first question is answer much the same way it was when I first found this game. He even says we should be able to find some thing to do solo. I like the missions because of the story. I really don't street hunt that often unless I am just taking a break from the normal game for some fun. So this seems like a good statement. Now take a look at the second question. Ask's about the mission slider and the bosses. Ok good question lots of people have been wondering about it. Now the answer has nothing to do with bosses. All he says is we added the mission slider because people like to fight harder minions and lieutenants. What about the second part Jack? I under stand the minions being to easy and even some of the lieutenants, and for that reason I like the mission slider. The bosses on the other hand were a challenge especial because they had minions and lieutenants with them. You see a group with a boss and he has underlings. Now you can take the underlings out first or you can take out the boss first. If you go with the underlings then you have to worry about the boss kicking the crap out of you. I have found that the bosses are best fought and taken out early that way you aren’t one hit killed. That was fun and a challenge pre I3. Now we have these uber bosses with underlings and they regularly one or two shot any one. Scrappers, Tankers, Defenders, Blasters, Controllers doesn't matter who you are the uber bosses kick the crap out of a lot of them. I like a tough fight but an impossible one is no fun. Now I do more street hunting because it’s easer to kill groups out side than it is in my own missions. Skipping content just the opposite of what you wanted. So please address the real issue of the bosses and don't ignore it like you did. Thank you.

  12. I thought it was cool to go through a ton of small stories with good plots and fun fights. After two or three story arcs come up agenst an AV. Call the SG and say hey I found such'n'such AV and need help. It was cool and fun. Now it's like this. I get thru one mission in an arc and the next one I call my SG because I can get past the one boss that wasn't mentioned in the text just to continue the story. Not fun.

What if since you go through story arcs to get to AV and such the bosses became more difficult as you progressed in the story? That would make more since.
  13. Well I have read through this post from page one up to this point, and it looks to me people aren't asking for much. Just one thing.

The bosses are too tough and need to be toned down. Not to the level they were just not as tough as they are now.

Looks to me like we as the players are asking for a compromise from the devs. Now I know there are some people that like the bosses the way they are but the majority of them seem to be really high level (45-50). So maybe the bosses should scale up in difficulty starting at level 25 or maybe we should be able to use the difficulty slider for this. We all pay to play and I don't think we are asking too much. I know the dev's have a "vision" of the game, and that’s fine. What they need to realize is they let their vision fall so far behind (game has been fun for 8 months with out changes) that this sudden change is alienating their player base and make us feel as if we aren’t being lessoned too except when the "vision" is in line with what we say. At that point we still aren’t being lessoned too. I think the dev's do a great job but this sudden change after so long is a little tough on us and not fair as the game was a lot more fun pre I3 patch. I don't want a lot and from what I have read neither does the rest of the community. Bottom line don't force grouping and let us have fun with out being slaughtered because at that point this game will be just a another clone of EQ with min/max builds of uber leet players while the casual gamer get stuck in a dark murky corner.
  14. You make a lot of very valid points, and even if you could buy inspirations on a TF or the respect trial you can't just leave in the middle of all those mob attacking to go get inspirations.
  15. I don't think that the devs are really that bad, but I do feel they are changing the game from what it was in beta. I wish they would have stated that they wanted higher level content to force grouping. I really don’t like that. I left FFXI just because you had to group to do any thing. I really love this game because I can solo and feel like a hero or I can group and feel like a hero. I have a choice and I choose to do both but I want to choose to do them when I feel like it not because such and such a contact is only going to give me missions that need another player. Being two or even one shoted by a boss is not really that fun. I like a challenge but not a slaughter. I think bosses should be though but I think right now they are a little overboard. Running from a fight is not very heroic or fun. I had a mission last night that was the finish to a story arc and it had no less than 8 or 9 bosses (CoT, Warriors, Banished Pathogen) they were all yellow or orange. I have a claws/SR scrapper and the first boss I find used all my inspirations. After that it got ugly. The warrior boss two shoted me like I didn't have any secondary powers up. After that I had to run every other second to rest and then run back to take a little more life off. Every boss in that mission I had to run from at least 4 times. That is note very fun and it ended up being very boring. I liked the story that I got to read but it really wasn't worth it. I don’t mind if a boss fight is tough and I have to rest afterwards or it's a really close fight and I almost die, but to run more that once is not very fun to me. I would suggest that they tone the bosses down or revert them back to their original stats and just make missions spawn bosses at +2 your level. That with the difficulty slider will make things more challenging for people who want a challenge. So far the majority of people liking the boss changes are people who are level 45 to 50. That right there should say some thing. Maybe they should scale bosses starting at 25 and then making them as tough as they are now at 45 or 50 that way bosses are still tough to people 25 to 45 and really tough to people above 45. I don’t know what needs to be done but I think some thing should.
  16. [ QUOTE ]

I am left to wonder how horribly i would be absolutly slaughtered if i would change my difficulty lvl even a slight bit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would like to raze the difficulty to have a little more of a challenge in my missions but I am afraid of getting a boss that I can't take. I have a level 26 Claws/SR scrapper and I am having a really tough time with bosses. In fact tonight I was running around Talos Island and I spotted a group I have never seen before (ghosts) All were level 24 1 minion, 1 lieutenant, and 1 boss. I couldn't beat them I have to run because they were killing me like it was nothing. I have FF, FS, PB, Hasten and CJ all on, and it was like they weren’t on at all. Hopefully things will change as I don't want to be forced to group.
  17. I have now changed my mind about the bosses they are really tough. I think that if they were toned down just a little then it wouldn't be so bad but as of now they just aren’t fair. I have noticed that they seam to have been given an increase in just about very thing including acc. which for a SR scrapper that's just murder. I am not asking them to make them super easy but I think they do need to be toned down just a little.
