Quote:I guess you missed my post further up on this page, so I'll just quote part of it.Are you all certain they took 'your' names with intention of griefing?
Quote:Because that's what people complained about - not that someone else is USING their 'favorite name'. The issue is that people get the names with the specific intention of holding them for ransom.
BTW, this did NOT happen to me personally. I logged in early and got Ironblade on Exalted. I doubt anyone would have tried to sell the name to me (and that possibility never even occurred to me), I just wanted the name. -
Quote:Maybe if it was even POSSIBLE for me to get on the beta or test servers. The character copy tool has been broken for months.Maybe if people who go on the Beta server actually did beta testing and left forum feedback & bug notes instead of just looking at the shinies and then never logging on again, well, then maybe we wouldn't have so many bugs make it Live.
Just a thought, y'know.

On a related note, don't expect to copy any characters over from the live servers. The copy tool is broken, and has been for months.

Quote:Did you miss the part about someone getting a name on Exalted, and then contacting someone who uses that name on another server, to try to SELL them the name?It seems like I heard of this before on the forums but didnt think it was that big of a deal...
- people move around servers and use the same names of their main toons?
- if that name is used by someone else, it taints the playing experince?
Im honestly intrigued by this, no snark intended.
You don't see anything sleazy in that?

You know, at first I didn't read it that way, but I went back and I'd say you're exactly right. It looks like he's a VIP and wants to 'test drive' a set before buying.

Quote:I had this happening once. Someone posted a fix for it, which I can't find. From memory: the patcher creates a temporary directory. If the patcher crashes, the temporary directory stays there and will mess up any subsequent patch attempt. The temporary directory needs to be deleted manually. Unfortunately, I can't remember what the name of the temp directory is.I click on the repair option, the progress bar spins thru in about 10 seconds, then says a new patch has been downloaded and the files need to verify. The verify process gets to about file 52, then crashes and tells me to run the repair check. in a viscious circle. Any thoughts?
And had to browse back through 8 pages of threads since the search tool wasn't helping. Look in your game directory and see if you have a directory named ~PS. If you do, delete it and try again. -

So, I'm doing Signature Arc #4 and get to the part where my character is referred to as Mr. Daniels...
WHOA! This guys secret ID is Daniel Frost! How did they.... oh, just a coincidence I guess.
For a minute there, I thought it was some new dialog tech that checks your bio to see if you mention a secret ID name in there...... -

And I have a very limited spam filter. It simply moves suspect spam into another folder where it stays until I review it. -

So far all the ones I've seen or heard of are horrible. There's the council world, the 5th column world, the Devouring Earth world, the Psychic Clockwork King world, the Rikti world, the Circle of Thorns world, Praetoria, etc.

Quote:Yeah, like TOMMY ARCANUS! "oops"Also, going by the Mercedes Sheldon arcs, Darrin Wade arc, Vincent Ross arc, and Mortimar Kal SF, the second part of the SSA arc, the Midnight squad is A LOT worse about losing things, and when they lose things, they are IMPORTANT things. Like Mortimar Kal's daughter, a soul cage, the Devil's Timepiece, the Crown of Glory, countless other unknown artifacts,

They broke the respec - apparently when they changed the levels at which you are able to take pool powers.
I was respec'ing a dark/dark scrapper and the issue was with the Fighting Pool. I zipped through the respec and got a little pop-up window after completing it: "RESPEC FAILED". I made sure I had no funny powers running, and zoned. Failed again. I shut the client down completely and tried again - failed.
So.... I gave it some thought. I had been taking the powers from the Fighting Pool (specifically Boxing, Tough and Weave) as soon as it allowed me. I did the respec AGAIN, ignoring when they became available. I took Boxing after level 6, Tough after 14 and Weave after 20. And the respec worked.
Now, I don't know if this problem only exists with the Fighting Pool and I don't know at what levels you have to take the powers to make it fail. And I'm not BUYING respecs to test it. I would have copied over to the test server to figure the details out, but the Character Copy tool is STILL BROKEN.
Anyway.... putting the detailed info here and PM'ing a link to this thread. I didn't feel like typing all of this in the little in-game pop-up bug report window. -
Quote:Relevant passage bold and underlined.
The Underground Incarnate Trial will always award a Rare or Very Rare component after successful completion of the Avatar of Hamidon encounter for players who participate for the entire event's duration.
So now CS can just say, "Well, if you didn't get the reward, you must not have participated enough."
Working As Intended.
It sucks, but there you have it. -
Quote:The Hollows was only popular while it was the 'only game in town'. It was never popular because everyone loved it. Most of the missions are as mundane as the radio missions. Only a handful are actually interesting.1) The Hollows and the radio missions have become neglected as characters level past them after a few runs through the sewer trials.
As for the radio missions, I don't see them being neglected. Certainly, they are less popular now that we have the tip missions which are newer/better. But the radio missions have the appeal of the bank missions (which are pretty good), which offer powers all the way up to the 45-50 range. The radio missions are not 'low level content'.
Quote:2) Making a Villain ("red-side") character is now pointless, causing all of that content to now be neglected. I have yet, even during peak periods, to see anywhere near the volume of traffic in the Rogue Isles that I once saw before Issue 21/Freedom.
Quote:3) The Tutorial now has less meaning. The run-up to the release touted it as a more "streamlined" experience. It certainly is more brief, but it lacks the informativeness of the original. -
The Kheldian War Task Force is up next. This task force is good for working on the Slayer and Silver Bullet badges. There is a mission populated entirely with vampyri and one filled with warwolves.
