Quote:<shrug> I guess the key word there is "explicitly"?We were actually never told it would be Tuesday, just that Celestial would go out on Tuesday (6/5). Of course, which followed that Mecha would go in (and with it, I23 launched). But we were never explicitly told Tuesday would be I23.
We were told Celestial Armor would depart with Issue 23.
We were also told Celestial Armor would go away on June 5.

<sigh> The launcher really leaves a lot to be desired.
I left it running while I was at work, so it could download the patch. I get home and it says ready to update. I have it update and it says ready to play.
"Oh, really?", says I. "Let's try a repair/consistency check anyway."
Launcher: "Ah, you got me! Gonna download another 94MB."
Launcher: Ready to apply update.
Launcher: Ready to play.
<load game - game crashes>
Repair AGAIN and there's yet another 226MB to download.
What is so difficult about this? It should be able to download one batch of files, apply them, then be ready to go. Why do I have to get all the way to loading the game to find out that it's just jerking me around?
So just keep trying to repair until it says there's nothing to repair and then try to load it and maybe it will work.
If it's failing repeatedly, see if you have a directory called ~PS in your CoH directory. If so, delete it and try again. Sometimes the update process leaves that directory behind and makes all subsequent operations fail. The ~PS directory should be automatically deleted during the update process. -
For a full tower? Not offhand. I only buy mid towers. I'm currently using an Antec 900. It was a great deal with an Antec 650 watt power supply already installed - since that was the PSU I was going to buy anyway. It's a relatively wide case, which was important since I have a really tall HSF mounted.

Quote:Let's be clear here, *YOU* are calling it bad.How wonderfully condescending.
I know full well of retcons. They can add and they can take away. When a retcon removes what was, that is what they call "bad".
I haven't seen anyone else have a problem with it.
I certainly don't. -

A smaller HSF and this mobo doesn't crowd the CPU socket so much. Looks like you should be fine there. I actually downloaded the mobo specs for mine to make sure the HSF would fit.
I think the case is hideousbut the inside layout looks good and they definitely get good reviews.
Top name brands on all the components. I've got an Asus mobo and Crucial SSD in mine.
Can't comment on the video card (aside from saying EVGA is a good brand, which I've bought in the past). Video cards change fast enough that I don't bother paying attention - I just research it when I'm planning a build.
Assuming you checked compatibility between the RAM and mobo, all should be fine. -
Quote:For you, at least.Well, it seems I have confirmation that the game is getting worse.
Quote:I really just want to play smoothly. I don't care if there is less to do, less powers and lower graphical quality.
I just want to play without being completely annoyed and frustrated with the poor performance of the game.
When will these developers learn that performance matters more than the shiniest graphics and most sparkles? -
Are you walking on sunshine?
Sounds like a graphics glitch at your end. Can you check to see what other people see when they look at your character on the carpet? Also, what do you see when someone else is using the carpet? If you're the only one who sees (um... doesn't see) the carpet like that, the first thing I'd try is repairing the files. It's one of the options in the launcher - Repair/Consistency Check. -
Are you monitoring temperatures? Problems with drivers and software incompatibility often give error messages. Overheating often does not and this game definitely stresses a system.
Also, please check this thread for what kind of information is helpful for people trying to come up with some answers for you. -
Despite my paternal grandmothers maiden name being McCoy, and actually being descended from THOSE McCoys..... nope, didn't watch it.

Quote:hmm.... go to this thread, around page 12, and take a screenshot? How do you take a screenshot of manipulating other players into laughing?

I think you're a little confused. The Mastermind enhancements are not on sale. What's on sale is the Mastermind ARCHETYPE itself - i.e. the 'class'. And you can't buy it because you're VIP so you already have access.
-
Extremely unlikely, otherwise we would have a major percentage of the forum-goers being affected. I've always had a dynamic IP and never had a problem - from three different locations, plus my brothers house (plus my office, which *IS* a static IP).
-
By 'different location', do you mean somewhere in 'Program Files' or 'Program Files (x86)'? If so, the point is to avoid those directories completely to bypass the onerous permissions. My game is in c:\CoH

Comments about that HSF.
1) Never heard of the brand. Of course, that could just be me.
2) One of the reviews specifically states it's too wide and low to use with Corsair Vengeance RAM on certain motherboards. I think you should do some careful measuring/calculating to see if it will fit. I have a honking big heatsink myself (from Zalman) but it sits very high and my mobo doesn't crowd the CPU too badly.
3) I WAS going to say it seemed kind of pricey, but noticed your total says Canadian dollars..... and just looked up the exchange rate and see they're only like 3 cents apart... so it does seem pricey.
P.S. The site has the HSF I have and it's only $49.99. -

I think a problem here is that the definition of flipping CAN include manipulating the market but it doesn't have to.
If someone buys a low volume item, drives the price up, then sells what they bought, they are both flipping AND manipulating.
If someone buys a high volume item, waits for the price to go up on its own, then sells what they bought, they are flipping but NOT manipulating.
I'm not going to try to guess which scenario is more common, mainly because I don't care. I flip, but don't manipulate. The price ranges for the items I flip have been steady for *YEARS* at a time. The patient buyer can get the items just as cheaply as they ever could because I'm not trying to hoover up the supply. My goal is to NOT have a noticeable affect on the market.
There's probably also an issue of scale. If you're trying to generate a trillion inf, you probably can't avoid affecting the market - possibly quite dramatically. In my case, I have three multi-billion-inf builds and don't spend more than 200-300 million on the rest of my toons. I deliberately do just enough marketeering to meet my needs, plus some extra in case we finally get new purple sets introduced and I want to buy them nao. -
Wow, gotta be 10 times by now that you or someone else has made a stupid comment along these lines. Flipping increases the lowest price for an item while simultaneously lowering the highest price; i.e. it narrows the price range.

Usually it's helpful to post what the solution was since this is not an uncommon problem.
Typically, the problem is being in 'task force mode', either from an actual task force, an AE arc, a signature story arc, etc. Under those conditions, you can't talk to other contacts and that includes tip missions, so they simply don't show up in your window. -

The MegaMech Cometh (AKA Ernesto Hess TF)
Level 25+
Requires 6 to start.
Contact is in Striga Isle.
Note: This task force requires the leader to have the contact unlocked. I have Hess unlocked on my character. Hopefully we'll have someone else with the contact unlocked if we end up with more than 8 players (which we usually do).
1. Ironblade - Dark Lord Darkness (dark/dark controller)
2. AngelicaVenger - anyone BUT Auxano
3. reButters - somebody
4. GATE-keeper - Statesdude (brute)
5. Asgardian Blade - Kyrybdys (rad/dp defender)
6. Saint Jon - Hawaiian Glory (brute)
7. Mystery Inc - Tachyon (blaster)
8. Simian Stalker - whoever needs the badge
9. Doctor A Science - 'someone'
10. Flux Overlord - probably a scrapper or brute
11.

No, that's correct. Getting annoyed about something and going off half-cocked with a post of imagined slap-in-the-face. Classic nerdrage.

Quote:Seriously, pick some random numbers out of thin air and that proves your point? I can create hypothetical examples too, but it doesn't serve a purpose.Short answer you are wrong.
Extended answer
A flipper finds an item that generally sells for 20 million but people still list at below three.
He buys at 3 million and change
He sells somewhere between 15 and 20.
Short answer: you really have no clue. -
Quote:Small elaboration here: the timer is PER CHARACTER. If you have 10 toons high enough to run this, you can get 10 Alignment Merits per week.2. Purchase the Signature Story Arc #1.1. The blueside is the quickest to speed through at about 8-10 minutes. Do it twice a week for the free Hero Merit and then the bonus Reward Merits (both on a one week cool down). You have to reinforce Hero Alignment before the Hero Merits start dropping here.
