Quote:What you MEANT is that it has not happened to YOU.Well, I can't say that I agree with you, on what 'might' happen, if set bonuses could exempt farther than they do.
As someone else pointed out, you don't even need the IO's sets to play the PvE game, and I can definitely attest that you indeed DO NOT need them. (for PvE)
I think it's a pretty big stretch to say that people wouldn't invite you to a TF because you didn't have a specific set bonus. It's almost laughable.
People don't do that now, they certainly wont do it if the rule changed.
It DOES happen now. It's certainly an uncommon event, but it does happen. -
Quote:No, no, no. Dogbert explained to Ratbert how it works. Everyone has read the same books you have and knows the same things you know. If they disagree with you, it MUST be because they are stupid.Look here, if everyone who replies to you doesn't quite think what you are writing makes sense, it is tempting to assume they are all too stupid to understand it. But there is an alternative explanation, which is that it _doesn't_ make sense.

Quote:MAYBE.Here is what I do Gunn Tharr.. Wait 14 days past the due date they send. Paying on that day ensures the power never shuts off so your members never go to base and discover teleporters, workbenches, etc don't work. Using this method, as mentioned, also extends the deadline before it's due again you end up making about 8 or 9 rent payments a year instead of 26 (once every 2 weeks).
Paying two weeks past the due date isn't good enough. Paying on that day might result in paying every 4 weeks or it might be every 6 weeks. As I said, the due date is accurate TO THE MINUTE. If you pay 1 minute before they cut the power, you pay every 4 weeks. If you pay 1 minute after they cut the power, you pay every 6 weeks. -
Two more points worth making:
1) The progress bar does not update immediately when you log in to a toon. Say I create a new toon and log out by the base portal. I log in 10 hours later and the progress bar will show zero progress UNTIL I ZONE OR RELOG. Dunno why it does this, but it does.
2) Per Positron, the time is tracked in crazy small increments (seconds). So you don't need to log out for a full day, or even a full hour, for it to count. Having said that, the smallest increment that the mouseover numbers can show is about 3 minutes. Anything under that, the progress is tracked, but you won't see a change in your display. -
One additional point: the auto powers will automatically appear on your buff bar. The clickie powers will not automatically appear in your power tray - you have to open your powers list, find the vet section, and drag them to the power tray.

Oh, don't encourage him. He's already told us that his account is canceled. He's just hanging around until it expires, posting doom and gloom in various threads.

Once upon a time, Norton was very good and not a resource hog. That changed and I stopped using it. I hear it has gotten better again, but this is only hearsay. I don't plan to give them another chance.
I was using AVG for a while, and was quite happy with it, until a new version came out that had 'issues' with certain games.
So, I switched to Avast, as I had heard good things about it. Seems okay so far, but I have only had it a short time. -
Pretty much. If it's an open PvP area, I'll treat it like RV. I spent as much time as necessary in there to get all the badges and then left, never to return.

I recall one of the rednames saying that they deliberately restricted the color saturation for the ice armor colors so that it didn't start looking like gemstones.
I predict a new armor set, called either Gemstone or Crystal Armor, which will introduce a new combat mechanic involving reflecting a portion of the damage.
Sound interesting? -
Quote:Kick major butt.
Fire/Fire..What to do!?!?
One of the biggest factors in your defense is Healing Flames. You want more recharge. Conveniently, boosting your recharge also boosts your damage output. -
Quote:You really have no clue, do you?More contradictory information. Is it a well guarded secret or public information? Some say we just need to know the right people on the right server, some say it is all over the boards (we've seen examples of methodology in this very thread, in fact). Of course, no one in this actual thread seems to have much success doing it.
LOL. Assume whatever you want. It is happening. I've seen it and done it.Quote:We're left to assumptions that it "must" be happening, based on metaphors and second and third party responses, with the few first hand accounts in this thread suggesting it is slow and inefficient.
Slow and inefficient? Interesting. If it takes no effort on your part (being AFK) and happens while you're doing something else, how are "slow" or "inefficient" even RELEVANT?Quote:We already know AFK farming has gone on forever (what isn't put in this thread is that it actually was once a very lucrative activity, before changes were made to the rep timer). We already know farming (as a generic) is a good way to gather rare drops. What we don't already know is that AFK farming is suddenly efficient enough, despite (to my knowledge) no recent changes to the rep timer structure to cause such a catalyst in the market.
In fact:
1) It's fast and efficient because you can get your kills about every 5-1/2 minutes and, since you're AFK it's effortless.
2) The rep timer is pretty much irrelevant. And, of course, the reduction from 10 minutes to 5 was a tremendous boon to any farming of PvP IO's and/or rep.
3) My *impression* is that the forced trip to the hospital at the 2 minute mark was instituted to address AFK farming. It didn't. -
LOL is right. Try reading the thread title. The OP is asking about the philosophy/idea behind the mechanics. This refers to the devs THOUGHTS and STATE OF MIND when creating the system. I guess our cadre of telepaths might be able to give an answer.....

Quote:So nice to see you again! We missed your melodramatic doom and gloom.I'd surmise that Matt Miller was not meeting managements expectations, and due to stress and health didn't think he could, despite the PR spin that there was no demotion.
Personally I think the i13/i14 debacle, the ridiculous over the top AE leveling response, and the woefully enept job Marking has been allowed to do for multiple years now, are all signs of poor overall leadership.
My guess is the brass has given management level ultimatums after reviewing last Quarters subscription numbers and the project status of Going Rogue and or i17.

Quote:Hey! We don't work up a good, cranky snit in order to be cute! So, uh... Could we shut up about "Going Rogue information" please? The game is already good stuff. If it's not good enough for you, then you're some kind of foolish glutton who feels the need to pay a subscription fee just to whine about nothingness. It's not cute.

Quote:Actually, it would have shown *ALL* of them as recipes. There is no other way a costume part can appear in Wentworth's. You would just drag and drop the recipe into the WW window, just like any other recipe.Hmmm, so when I did view the inventory at Wentworth's, it did show some being sold as I believe as recipes. One Wing Boot Costume Piece was selling for 100K of influence. I guess the thing I need to try and figure out is "how" to get my costume piece into that recipe area. Normally in the past, I would just craft it then drop it in the Wentworth's tray, but if it's a recipe, how is that done as there is nothing to drop?

Quote:You know you can shrink quite a bit, right? The Science booster pack lets you change character scales (waist, legs, chest, physique, etc) and size (height) and even gender.I am trying something similar. My character has insect powers so when she wants to fly she shrinks down and grows wings. I can't shrink to insect size,
If you go from max height to minimum, it's a pretty dramatic change.
You can go from a tall person with 'normal shape' and change into a tiny person with wings, bug eyes, etc. -
But starting a new thread is SCARY!

Quote:And that was your mistake. Please note, the rent system is idiotic. Here's how it works. When I logged on during the end of Jan I would see the message saying 400 prestige rent is due by Feb 1st. I paid the rent on 31 Jan at the NPC in City Hall, where I first established the base, with my SG leader hero.
You get the message, rent is due February 1, 12:05 PM.
1. If you pay BEFORE that time, you end up paying rent every two weeks.
2. If you pay AFTER that time, even by a single minute, you end up paying every four weeks.
3. If you wait until two weeks beyond that time and let them cut the power, you pay every six weeks.
Please note, that 'rent due' date/time is accurate TO THE MINUTE. I make a note of it so that I know to pay AFTER the power cut-off time. Pay the rent just 1 minute after they cut the power and you pay every six weeks. -
Quote:The power taunt is autohit in most instances against PvE opponents. Except for AVs. A taunt can miss an AV. The reason you can slot acc in your taunt is to make you more effective against AVs and in PvP taunt is not autohit.Wait, what???Quote:Yes, but that's primarily for PvP. As Largo said, Taunt is autohit in PvE, except in a few circumstances.
Two people are saying that Taunt is not always auto-hit (outside of PvP). To the best of my knowledge, that is wrong. I am under the impression that TAUNT (the actual power with that name) is always auto-hit in PvE. Am I wrong? Please note, I'm not talking about taunt AURAS or taunt EFFECTS - just the power 'Taunt'.
Specifically, I'm saying that Taunt *IS* auto-hit against AV's and GM's. -
Lots of useful information here.

I'll have to take notes and start working the contacts to get to the right missions.
Thank you.

Quote:No, May is the MIDDLE of the 2nd quarter. Second quarter is April-May-June so May is in the middle.I don't think they ever said it would be Q1. Didn't they say Spring? That's at least Q2, and if it's May, that's pushing Q3.
Personally, my money is on end May to coincide with the game anniversary. -

With one exception, the answer to all of your questions is "We don't know."
The item below is the one exception.
When someone leaves a SG or VG, the group loses NOTHING. The prestige stays with the group. Therefore, there is no reason for a prestige gift. -
Quote:One comment here: this should be done between level 5 and *NINE*. If you wait until level 10, you have a 50/50 chance of getting the Atlas Park safeguard *OR* the Kings Row safeguard. So you should do the first one by level 9, then do the next one when you are 11-14. This way you guarantee you get the right safeguard mission and you can get TWO travel powers, each with 2 hours of use.2) If you run 3 scanner missions in Kings row, or 3 newspaper missions in Port Oakes you will be given a safeguard (hero) or mayhem (villain) mission. Complete the mission successfully and you will be given a Raptor Pack with 2 hours of use for free. You must do this between levels 5 and 10, however.
And, please note, that is 2 hours of actual time having the power turned on. I've had characters who still had at least one of these powers at level 40 and who never took a travel power.
