Predicting a new tank armor set.

I recall one of the rednames saying that they deliberately restricted the color saturation for the ice armor colors so that it didn't start looking like gemstones.

I predict a new armor set, called either Gemstone or Crystal Armor, which will introduce a new combat mechanic involving reflecting a portion of the damage.

Sound interesting?

It certainly would be interesting, but I recall reading a Castle post saying that this kind of mechanic is strictly outside the bounds of our current engine's capabilities.

Where to now?

Personally I feel like they need a new mitigation mechanic, not just yet another mix of defense, resistance, and regeneration.

I've proposed "ablative" armor, where the powers create pseudo-pet-like "bags of hit points" that enemies blast off you while your power recharges to refresh your armor. But the post in which I did so was years ago, and did not propose specific powers in detail.

I'd play that if they made the tier 9 "Ablative Absolute". (If you don't know, don't ask....)

Sounds interesting and if a reflected portion of the attack was sent back at the attacker it could count as the aggro/damage aura as well.

I'm still hoping for Radiation Armor and Melee.

I think they don't want it to look like crystals because of Rock.

I vote for Ablative armor only if it comes in the form of Carp.

I would like to see a more active primary.

I have no idea how they would incorporate this but one thing I always think about when I think about tanking is ninja tanking in FFXI... for anyone not familiar with it I'll sum it up as the most challenging tank to play in any MMO I've ever played.

You had provoke (taunt) and your only mitigation were shadows (Utsusemi). You had to cast them and time them just right between hits and when you got hit rather than getting hit one of the shadows would absorb it. If you had no shadows up and started getting hit you were likely to end up dead.

this

/gignore @username is the best feature of this game. It's also probably the least used feature.

I think ablative armor would work best if it were similar to, but different from, Super Reflexes.

Basically, you'd be a damage resistance set, all bulky and heavy with your ablative armor. At first your damage resistance would be high but as it chipped off, you'd have scaling defenses that got higher as you got lighter (read: as your damage resistance was chipped away).

Might not be worth the effort though. Also set bonuses that increase def would possibly make it feel too much like a def-capped invulnerability tanker.

rad armor/rad melee. I would roll a new tank for that. I said the same thing for electric and was disappointed though.
