And Aggie is using the term "huge" loosely. He's one of the smallest GM's. I think only the Ghost of Scrapyard is smaller.

Quote:I was thinking of Doc Hollerday for a sonic/DP. But I already have a sonic/sonic so anyone can feel free to use it.I was teamed with a Doc Holladay (spelled wrong I know) the other day, but unfortunately he was empath/energy, not empath/DP. I said with that name he desperately needed to be empath/DP.

I would say neither. You're listing a dual core and a 'faux' quad core (2 dual cores on the same chip - not a true quad core). Plus, those are both old technology at this point. I would go to the newer generation and get either a Core i5 or i7 (depending on your budget).
-
I've seen that on other TF's. Logging out resets it. Sometimes only the leader needs to log, sometime everyone needs to log out. Usually only the leader though, in my experience. (Seen this 3 or 4 times. Only had to have everyone log once.)

Well, upon reviewing the badge rankings, I have grown a goatee.
If I kill you, we all move up one step in rank.

I would put an exploration badge on a moving object - specifically the blimp in Atlas Park.

The names become available faster than I can remake a toon, even when I know the powersets in advance and have the costume file saved.

There isn't. This question gets posted a few times a year.

I went the easy route - I did it on an earth/rad controller. Accelerate Metabolism is good for 30%.

Quote:Of course, you CAN play that way. And many people do, particularly those coming over from games that are set up that way. It's what they're accustomed to and they stick with it.Being able to do almost all content with a variety of archetypes sounds really good, I have to admit I thought it would be more the traditional approach of tank, healer, dps so hearing the opposite is quite refreshing for me.
Or, you can take other routes. A team of all tanks is pretty much indestructible. In this game, 'healer' is just one sub-category of 'defender'. Some defenders heal, some make it harder for the enemies to hit you, some make you do more damage more often (yes, they can boost your damage AND make your attacks recharge faster). In fact, a team of all defenders is really really nasty. You can also go 'all damage' and nothing will live long enough to hurt you. Lots of variety here. -
Quote:Yes, yes, no. Not only will you encounter both new and experienced characters across the level range, unlike most games, differing levels are not an impediment to teaming. If you're level 8 and I'm level 40 and want to join you for your missions, the teaming system will automatically scale me down to level 8 but I can still earn normal rewards, including XP. Or we can do it the other way around and the system will temporarily raise you to level 39 to do my level 40 missions.1) Is this game easy for new players to get into? Will I encounter players while leveling or is it a wasteland until I reach max level?
As I noted, anything you can do from level 1 to 49 is still available at level 50. There are also some large-scale raids and these don't require you to be max level. The 'mothership raids' will allow someone level 1 to attend (but you'll be pretty darn useless). The 'Hamidon raid' becomes available at level 45.Quote:2) What is there to do at max level, are there instance runs, or perhaps even full blown raids?
Yep. PvP is really not big in this game and is restricted to certain zones. Figure that 95+ % of the game is PvE. As for teaming, get in an active 'supergroup' (guild). Also, we have 'global chat channels' that facilitate teaming in general or particular types of teams.Quote:Finally, I'm a huge PVE geek so will this game please my urge to play together with like minded people while mowing down the enemies? -

There is a second one in Croatoa - at the end of the final arc. You have to lead the 3 mages to the stones then defend them for 15 minutes against waves of attackers.

eh, we did this a while ago. Not counting any computer hardware, about $1400. That's one account approaching 5 years and a second account a bit past 2 years, plus every extra edition and pack excluding the Wedding Pack.
P.S. Not depressing at all. As a monthly average, it costs less than my phone bill, DSL bill or cable TV bill. Quite the entertainment bargain. -

Quote:Only by logging in and looking for yourself.I am just curious to know if there is a source to find out the average activity level of the servers per day/week/month?
At the server listing, they are listed as follows: the last server you visited is at the top. All of the others are listed in order of 'server load' with the heaviest load at the bottom. In general, 'server load' is a decent proxy for 'people online'. -
Sure does.
You should be able to find the Good vs Evil version for just over $15. Since it includes one free month of game time (value $15) and free stuff it's a bargain. You should be able to find the Architect Edition for around $20, which also comes with free stuff plus one free month.
I would start with the Good vs Evil edition. If, after a month, you think you'll stick around, buy the Architect Edition next. You can apply one of EACH version of the game. When you apply the code, it gives you the free goodies and one free month.
I had the original game, then added City of Villains, then Good vs Evil, then Mac Edition, then Architect Edition. Each gave free stuff plus one free month of game time. -
Quote:Minimum? I wouldn't want to play on an integrated chipset any more (I did when I first started playing). I know people still using 7600 cards who play just fine with the graphics turned down a bit. I have a 7950 with everything turned up a decent amount past the default settings and it runs fine on a 1920x1080 widescreen monitor. My brother sold my computer after I told him not too, and I was wondering what would be the minimum graphics card/chipset for CoX?
I don't personally know anyone playing on less than a 7600 (that I know of). You should be able to find a good one for $70-80 or a cheaper (less powerful) one for under $50. -
Bingo.
I took a brute to 50 with no travel power except the temps from the mayhem missions. And, please note, this was BEFORE we had Ninja Run or a jetpack vendor in Grandville (or the Day Job jetpack).
P.S. I'm leveling a sonic/sonic defender currently and PLANNING not to take a travel power at all. In the Fitness pool, he took Hurdle to complement Ninja Run. He is currently level 30. -
Quote:Seriously.Admittedly, if I were you, I wouldn't be so concerned about prepurchasing in light of your mentioned circumstances (in which, I'm sure, you're not alone). You'll get dual pistols and demon summoning (in April). That's it. That's all you'll get.
Your call.
Pre-order version: $30
- Going Rogue content
- early access to Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning
Complete Edition in July: $40
- Going Rogue content
- bonus 'goodies' which will be available separately for as yet unannounced fee
- ONE FREE MONTH
It's a no-brainer to me. I'm patient. I have two accounts and will not be pre-ordering for either of them. I will, however, buy two copies of the complete edition in July. -
I continue to be surprised by names that are available. I was making a technology defender, a real brainiac nerdy sort of guy and assumed my first choice of name would be taken. Shockingly, Numbers Guy was available.

I have precognitive dissonance.
I have clairvoyant paranoia.
