Quote:Ah, but some people IO earlier. Most of my IO builds are done in the 34-37 range. Even at 35, and without IO's, my invuln could have handled them. I mean, he's got 90% vs lethal and IO's have nothing to do with that.Melee people, though.... er, nuts to that. I have not researched it at all, but Cimerorans seem to have fantastically high smashing/lethal resistance, and they hit like Peterbuilt semis. My Tank did not appreciate them AT ALL until he got some IOs under his belt, and he didn't start seriously working on that till 50.

Quote:blah blah blahquit complaining. If people want to pl themselves. let them do it, Just go play the drating game. they pay $15 a month too. just like you. you are no more deserving than they, and visa versa.
Their $15 per month doesn't let them break the rules. Someone always brings up this silly argument about griefers, too. "Gee, they're paying customers too. If they enjoy harassing people, they should be allowed." -
If I can teleport, I go under the floor, into the containment pool.

Quote:I'm glad you were able to provide a definitive answer on this.Feel free to show me a robot that can do anything other than respond from a pre-selected set of responses

Machines can never have an imagination - they're too limited - the best they can ever do is respond to things based on the stuff we've programmed into them - they can never have emotions.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go consult a caveman about a problem with my car. -
Quote:That's not what I consider as building "from drops".@ Ironblade. You say i lie about building a toon from IOs that are dropped? Please, create a build, play it to 50. ONLY slot what falls. Whether it be TO, DO, SO or IOs. Please, please, please do it and post you build in 10 level increments. I'd be VERY interested in seeing what drops you get that AREN'T from WW. GL with that, sir.
I include SELLING stuff that drops (at WW or vendors) so I can BUY stuff from WW. Seriously, what do you do when you get a drop you can't use? Throw it away? Only a fool would do what you're suggesting, when there are so many resources available.
I contend that crafting for inf is not necessary. Flipping is not necessary. Farming is not necessary. You can IO a toon using only the VALUE of the stuff that drops. Sell what you can't use so that you can afford stuff you want. -
Quote:Then they don't get them. Period.Small effort to afford the goodies? Get real. If someone isn't playing the market hard or farming their tail off, it's not doable. Period.
If you want the rarest items, you have to put in the effort. It's like that in every MMO.
Wow, two utter lies in such a small amount of text.Quote:Fourspeed is spot on. If you want to IO a toon, it's not going to happen from drops. So, people are forced to use WW, which is manipulated by everyone looking for a "niche",
Firstly, IO'ing a toon is CHEAP. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP.
Now, if you want purple sets and PvP IO's, that's different. But you can IO a toon, for an incredible performance improvement, cheap. My scale of "cheap" is "under 50 million inf" (sometimes WAY under, depending on the powers).
Secondly, WW as a whole is not manipulated. Will someone, on occasion, be messing with an item? Sure. At any given time, there might be a dozen or more items where price/supply is aberrant. Out of THOUSANDS. If something is being 'messed with', go buy the other 39 out of 40 things you need and come back to that one in a few days.
Oh, we know it happens. But we also know that it's only stupid people doing it. They choose to deal with shady/criminal 'businesses'. Most people don't buy inf to get the stuff they want, because it's so easy to get inf in this game.Quote:You have people buying inf with real money to afford the game pieces. If you think it doesn't happen, you're just wrong. Ive been told to hold on by a plyer before so he could go meet someone to get some inf. that he had just bought. -
Quote:No, he's not wrong. Basically, every issue you've raised has been addressed, explained or refuted. At this point, it sounds like you've decided absolutely not to buy, which is fine. You don't need to keep posting explanations and rationalizations that are all BS.No in another post about this I said I could not afford it already and your wrong it was not 12 hours, I did not find out until that night, did you ever consider I went to work and came back after I asked? Of course you didnt, no one went out of there way they spammed a simple link come on, that is nothing and I thanked those people but there where a few others who where not helpful at all and I will continue to delude myself thank you very much have a nice day.
So, yeah, good-bye and have a nice day. -
Quote:Ouch. You didn't have to lose it and you didn't have to wait. Too late for you, but this may help others.I can tell you that you lose them when you change alignments. I forgot I had one to spend until I was looking at the "do you really want to do this?" prompt. I wasn't going to go through two more days of waiting for that merit's value, especially on a character swimming in Reward Merits, so I switched, and lost it.
My main character was villain alignment and I had done all the missions to switch to Rogue, including the Morality mission. When the pop-up appeared, asking if I really wanted to change alignments, a thought occurred to me. Didn't I have 2 villain merits? I checked and, yes, I did. What to do.
Well, thinking back to the days of speed Katie runs when you would leave the reward window open until you could claim another reward, I decided to try that.
I left the pop-up alignment window untouched, went to the Crucible, used my 2 merits to buy a recipe, then clicked the reward window button to change my alignment. I changed from Villain to Rogue while standing in the Crucible with no problem. After I left, though, it wouldn't let me back in. -

In theory (and in my experience), Rogues and Vigilantes can't even get in.
In practice, there may well be some exploit that lets you do it. Maybe Recall Friend will get you in. I have not tried that. I only tried the front door.
Edit: Well, duh. I logged in to try and test this and was immediately reminded that Fort Trident and the Crucible are separate ZONES, so Recall can't work.
Anyway, from what we have been told, it is not possible for Rogues and Vigilantes to even HAVE alignment merits. I most definitely have not tried to test that. I made sure to use up any A-Merits before changing alignment. -

Quote:But, on the way out, you're going to lecture people on their behavior?I clearly stated these things, it is not my fault you have issues jumping to conclusions on the internet or do not know correctly how to interact with others, anyways I am done with this thread and no longer going to waste my efforts trying to prove anything else to you.
Priceless. -
Okay, one for Kahn, one for STF and one for either.
Anyone else have a preference? -
Quote:Support with protection is not stupid.Support with protection is just stupid. As is melee with guaranteed unbreakable protection.
Also, melee characters do NOT get unbreakable protection.
Making statements that are flat-out false does not help your case.
(I am referring to the 2nd sentence since your first sentence is opinion.) -
Only heroes can get into Fort Trident and only villains can get into the Crucible, so, no.
Interesting fact: If you convert from villain to rogue while standing inside the Crucible, it does not kick you out. Once you exit, though, it won't let you back in. -
Okay, our official task force organizer is skipping this weekend. Well, some of us have no lives.

What do we want to do this Saturday? -
Quote:Well, it's certainly not her fault if you don't have a craving for shredded squirrel."Help" of this kind is irritating and unwanted, but the most annoying part is that the person doing it honestly thinks they did you a FAVOR. It's like when my cat brings home a dead animal in its mouth and drops it on my doorstep. I know she means well. In her mind, she saved me from a trip to the grocery store to get dinner...

Quote:hmm..... the 90s "dork age" of comic books?Furthermore, you're assuming American comic books released somewhere between 1950 and 1980. The 90s dork age of comic books, by contrast, saw PLENTY of killing super heroes, like our friend Pitt, the Young Blood and practically everything else Rob Leifeld ever made.
Wow, that's a serious Freudian Slip there, eh?

Quote:I see an extremely small number of people whining here about the system. Furthermore, the overwhelming majority of the players do not visit the forums at all.Engaging for you maybe. But judging from the complaints you hear about the Blind Bidding system it seems you are in the minority.
The available evidence does not support your conclusion. -

I am not sure where to go, what to do, or what my objectives are in this game. Is everyone driving to 50 as fast as possible?
Some are. Many are not. I know people with over 100 characters and I know people with exactly TWO (one hero and one villain).
Your objective is to have fun. Fun means something different to each person. I have one character who has been 50 for YEARS. He was my first 50 and I still play him. I collect badges and also plan to get every possible mission souvenir. I also have other characters that I am currently leveling. I have a controller at 25 and a tank at 40. When the tank hits 50, I'll make a new character. I like to have two 'work in progress' characters at any given time.
Is there an end game? I recently came from Everquest 2 which I have been playing for years in a Raiding atmosphere.
Sort of. There is content that you can't even access until you hit 45. There are several 'raid style' events (i.e. requiring more than one team of 8 people to complete it). Also, we are going to be getting quite a bit more 'end game content'. I suspect this is due to the fact that a lot of people come in here and ask about end game content.
Also important, in my opinion, is that almost all the content in the game is still accessible to you once you hit 50. You can do mission arcs that you missed; you can team with someone 40 levels below you, and the game will automatically scale your powers and abilities down so that you are on par with your teammates (or the mission, if you are solo).
I guess my question is do I just run mission after mission following the story arcs?
Sure, but after a while it's the same missions each time. However, the missions SEEM different with a different team, or when you are playing a different character. Teaming is a big deal in this game and there are systems in the game (supersidekicking, global channels, etc) that really do a great job of enabling teaming.
Also i see alot of talk about I/o's for builds and purple recipes. When should I be concerned with this stuff?
Short answer: Never. Plenty of people pay it no attention.
Another short answer: When you feel like it. If you're bored one afternoon, start taking a look at it. If you have a character that would be oh so much fun if he just had a little more endurance, look into IO sets.
Sorry about the wall of text, but I am enjoying this game and I feel like I am starting to spin my wheels.
Cool. I've been spinning my wheels over 5 years and they haven't fallen off yet.

Actually, it's better to fight them out in the hall. Reichsman won't leave his room, so you don't have to fight without the tank & healer.

Quote:It will. It worked like that for hundreds of thousands of other players. One comment: if you like the characters you created on the trial account, you need to UPGRADE the trial account - not create a new account.what happens if I input my game code and it still doesnt work?
A new account will start with no existing characters. Upgrading the trial will keep all the characters you have already created.
