Again, you misunderstand griefing. Intent is relevant. Which is why your mugging analogy is PURE FAIL. Whether the mugger got anything or not is irrelevant - a crime still occurred.

I have two defenders that need the component from the ITF (empathy and dark). However, I'm typically logging off around 10 EST. Any chance of doing this earlier or on the weekend?
-
I left the launcher running when I went to work. When I got home, the patch was downloaded and ready to apply. That took 70 seconds.

I was talking to a couple of players who spent a lot of time in the beta and they weren't seeing these crashes. Something is behaving differently now that it's on the live servers. Or maybe they were just lucky in beta. I dunno. But this kind of stuff does happen. You can test from now until the cows come home and not find bugs that will nail you in the 'real world'.

I see. This is a misunderstanding of what "griefing" means. If everyone on the team agrees to do the trial in a specific manner, and they all proceed in the manner agreed, then just who is getting griefed?

Quote:No. The reason I asked is that I know it's more than 10. I logged in to check, and I'm on 11 global channels. I joined another, just to check, and that worked fine. So now I'm on 12 global channels. How high is it now? It used to be 10, but they increased it, didn't they?
So... does anyone know what the current limit is?
Edit: ParagonWiki says 10, which is obviously wrong. -

I don't see anything in the hardware that would explain the crashing (and I wouldn't know what to look for in the HijackThis log).
Having said that, I would think your system is starved for RAM and bogged down by writing to the hard drive. You've got a high-end 6 core CPU. I see the BOINC application (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing, for everyone else reading this) running. How many threads are you letting that use? I have it running 8 threads and that's taking over 1.5GB of RAM right there.
I ask because you have only 4GB of RAM and, on top of that, the system can't access all of it because you have a 32 bit version of Windows. You've got a race car engine in the family minivan.

As stated, this is true. Keep in mind, though, that you may be experiencing BOTH server-side and client-side lag in situations like a Mothership Raid.

Quote:I'm guessing this was in Atlas Park. Freedom is a fine server and it's very active. However, the Atlas Park AE building is where the farmers congregate and they broadcast to the entire zone.I am mostly on freedom but truthfully all I ever see are people farming for money
Go to the Freedom Server section of the forums and see what the good global channels are for teaming. -
The white square with a red X means it is unable to load an image. Both of your problems are about being unable to connect. Do you have a firewall/router/anti-malware that might be blocking the software?

Quote:You've changed what he said entirely. He was saying "red means server load" and "red does not mean the server is in danger of bad things happening". (e.g. monumental lag, etc.)<shrug> I was on one subject at all times and I did try to clarify it. You're not the only one giving up.Quote:Well that was the meaning I got from it. I did ask how it wasn't a contradiction giving him a chance to reword it but he just seemed to be talking about an entire different subject so I gave up on it. :P
To be fair, I think most of the people are 'attacking' the CONTENT of your posts. I choose to stay here because I see things being posted that are factually incorrect. When I see that, I correct them so that new players do not receive wrong information.Quote:Your the ones attacking me in my topic and if you don't like the conversation here I'm not forcing you to stay. Just walk away or stay and try to actually have a civil conversation. It's your choice. -
Quote:<ahem> And Brickstown. The first hunt in the Manticore task force does not say Brickstown in the mission objective, but it DOES say it in the mission text and the defeats MUST be in Brickstown (unless this was recently changed). The current Weekly Strike Targets have hunt missions in Creys Folly and Nerva Archipelago.
It is worth noting that enemies in the vicinity of a player will not despawn. We had just started the hunt in Brickstown when the event hit the zone. I was on top of the parking garage behind the train station and was able to find enough Crey to finish the hunt on the various levels of the garage.Quote:When these events run they will despawn all the creatures in the zone. This will cause a team to be unable to complete the hunt mission until the event has ended. -
I'll be there with Al Pine - level 19 plant/cold controller.

You don't really need to be "firm and decisive". You're not a manager affecting peoples careers. You're not a general leading troops into battle.
This is a game. People play it to have fun. Therefore, a "good leader" is someone who increases the amount of fun people are having. What does this mean? Well, the people who enjoy organizing a team and keeping them moving are already out doing that. Those aren't the people who joined your team. The people who joined your team are the ones who DON'T enjoy organizing a team and getting everyone moving in the same direction. They joined someone else's team so someone else can handle the 'drudgery' for them.
Let's also keep in mind, the people who don't like running a team could also be soloing - but they chose not to. Instead, they joined your team. So you need to maintain the 'teaminess' of teaming.- A team has more than one person - the more, the better.
You need to keep the team 'team-sized'. You don't have to have 8 people but, if you drop below 5 or 6, you need to find more. - When you're on a team, someone else decides what you do next.
You need to know what you're going to do next. Do you have missions ready? Maybe an Ouroboros arc? Does someone on the team have a mission they want to do? - Keep it moving.
No one needs a team if all they want to do is sit around and wait for something to happen. If they joined your team, they want to DO stuff.
Now, a challenging aspect to all of this is that not everyone has the same goals and not everyone finds the same things to be 'fun'. One person may prefer stealthing missions. One person may hate exemping below their actual level. One person might be working on a badge for defeating a specific enemy type. These issues are why I don't run a lot of regular teams. I mostly run task forces. All you need to do is determine HOW you are running the task force (speed run, defeat all, etc) and make that clear to people. Once you have that, everyone is on the same page. - A team has more than one person - the more, the better.

Quote:Well.... basically it's a worthless comment and doesn't really mean anything in the big picture. That thread migrated to super high end builds and using spreadsheets to analyze survivability. If it makes sense for your character, take it and ignore snarky comments on the forums.one poster mentioned that some regard a Tanker using Manuevers as a 'failed build'. Why? It seems great to me and also buffs my team mates.
Having said that, it really is a TINY bonus. I have Maneuvers on exactly two tanks:
- my stone tank, who never turns it on and only has it to slot LotG +7.5% recharge and GotA +7.5% run speed
- my shield tank who also has Grant Cover and gives his teammates a lot of defense -
hmm... can we switch this around and find me a tanker to take to my office to deflect the drama there?

On the off chance that it was to seek other peoples opinions of the situation: it sounds to me like you were the biggest problem on that team. Your attitude was rude and insulting right from the beginning. Your behavior was appalling and is the kind of thing that gives new players a bad impression of the community.Quote:It is here that the value of having quality members is shown to be a much better jewel than a legion of morons. -

Rial's text in yellow and mine in white, to avoid stacking lots of quote boxes.
It's exactly as I stated. There is no contradiction.
A contradiction is two opposing statements, one which states that something is true...
red means a certain "server load"
...while the other states that it isn't...
you can't assume that red means 'danger' or 'overloaded'.
Can you explain how this is not a contradiction?
If you can't grasp the BASIC ERROR in your argument, then this is all probably pointless, but I'll try anyway. With only 3 gradations of load, equating red with 'danger' or 'overloaded' is an ASSUMPTION BY YOU. You're attributing a condition that you have no basis to assume.
I would agree that is complete nonsense but you did in fact say it.
Frankly, I can't even figure out what you meant by this one. The nonsense is wall-to-wall in your post.
So to the average player, Freedom is in fact overpopulated as population, though not the only reason for lag, does play a major factor in how much lag the average player experiences.
Simply put if the average player is still the one complaining about lag all the time, the sever is overpopulated.
No. Every server has location congestion at various times and places. If a particular player has lag issues, then they need to avoid crowds.
If the server has such high load that EVERYONE has lag, THEN it's overcrowded. Not before.
And now your contradicting yourself again. You said "no" as if to say I'm wrong but then the following is in agreement with everything you said no to.
And I'll say "No" again. Now I have to question your reading comprehension.
As an aside, you don't get to speak for the "average player". You only get to speak for YOURSELF. YOU say that the average player has lag on Freedom, yet people still flock there in droves. Apparently they're not having problems with their enjoyment of the game.
As I said, the server would be overloaded when lag is a widespread and common occurrence. Since large numbers of people play on Freedom without mention of any problem, we can safely conclude the server is not overloaded. With all due respect, the fact that you say otherwise means nothing. You are one person. -
