  3. Welcome to CoX and to Freedom! I am relatively new to the game myself (6 months roughly) and friends are not hard to come by around here. The vast majority of people I've met are very friendly and helpful. If you ever need a teammate, shoot me a tell @Guardian Irish-Fury. Feel free to add me to your global friends list. I am a major altoholic and never know from day to day which toon I'll be logged in to.

As far as SGs go, I will take this opportunity to plug the one I am in. It is called Valhalla's Guard. We are a very active and large SG consisting of all play styles from the casual to the powergamer. We have a core group of 5 leaders who are very approachable, friendly, and helpful. We don't take things seriously, it is just a video game after all. We have a large fully functional base with TPs to all zones and worktables, storage, etc. We even have private quarters available for officers in the SG if you aspire to such a thing. Check out our website www.valhallasguard.com or shoot me a PM or in game tell anytime with questions, or if you would like a base tour. Again, welcome to the game!
  4. My buddy and I have made up a list of characters to level and a schedule for the weekend for each character. We have roughly 7 toons each that we want to get from the 20s into their 30s, and he is pushing for his second lvl 50. Most likely, we will be demon farming most of the weekend.
  5. I got your tell last night, but was logged in to a Praetorian and unable to invite you. I asked an SG mate to send you an invite, but never got confirmation that you got it and joined up. I'll be in game for a bit tonight, feel free to shoot me a tell and I'll show you around the base and such if you wish.
  6. Since all my char slots are full on Freedom, and there is not one that is delete worthy, I've decided to use Virtue as my experimenting grounds. I rolled up a Peacebringer last night, and plan to try a couple different MMs, as well as possibly a stalker, and a spider.
  7. Thanks so much for the MM advice. It is an AT that seems like it would be a lot of fun, and I really want it to work. Is there any powerset combo that you would recommend for a MM newbie? I've heard bots is the best damage wise, but I'm open to anything. I also don't have a clue about synergizing the primary with a secondary. My last bots MM was /FF, which I found unbearably boring to play solo. I'll give it another go and work on strategies a bit more.

    Very strange!

    It's a Nemesis plot!

Thats my only complaint with the melee Mastermind pets. I like playing my Necro but it can be a pain sometimes.
This is one of many reasons I don't play masterminds. I made a necro, deleted at lvl 10. I made a bots, deleted at lvl 28. I made a demons, deleted at lvl 16. I prefer to do the fighting myself, and got extremely frustrated with the AI. I am willing to concede that it was likely my own lack of skill that made this AT unplayable to me, but no fun nonetheless.
  10. A good time was had by all in Praetoria last night. I got my dp/kin corr, Cobalt-Cowboy, from lvl 7 to 14!

You will hear a 'bing' sound that indicates your purchase is complete. If you don't see the jetpack in your tray, click on Powers. From the Temporary powers list, drag the Raptor pack to your tray and you're good to go!
For quick cash, open a few presents to get a candy cane or do a mission from FatherTime. Candy canes sell for 50-100k a piece.

After six months playing red side, I had given up on finding the jetpack supplier. Thank you so much for this tid bit.
  12. I hit a similar wall on my energy/energy blaster around lvl 20 as well. Are you playing primarily solo, or on teams? In a solo situation, the best advice I can offer is try to 1on1 as much as possible. If there is a large group, snipe the guy closest to you and drop him asap. Sometimes dropping one baddie in the mob before you get hit makes all the difference. Second, don't be afraid to run. when your health hits half, look for an exit strategy. My blaster turned the corner at about lvl 30 and is one of my favorite toons now, so don't give up.

If you're teaming, be careful of aoe attacks as they can pull aggro away from the melee characters who are designed to take hits. Try targeting through the lead tank, that can help limit the amount of aggro you are taking.
  13. I've never played a Warshade, but my buddy and I were going to make a Khedian duo and give them a try. Let me know when you get ready to roll your Warshade, and the three of us can run some stuff. I have a lvl 7 dual pistols corruptor in Praetoria right now named Cobalt-Cowboy, and he is a blast so far. I've seen a lot of people say DP is underpowered, but it sure is fun. I have all 14 character slots filled, so I know all about altaholism, lol.

If you haven't made a Praetorian character yet, I would recommend it. The story arcs are very good, and it's a nice change of pace from hero/villain. I jotted your global name down, so I'll add you tonight and shoot you a tell if I see you and we can run some stuff if you like.
  14. I am not a PvPer either. I can't justify the investment it takes to be competitive in PvP zones.

It is tough to choose one side over the other. I started on hero side, just because I am a Superman freak, and wanted to have that iconic hero experience, but I have since gotten into playing villain side a bit more. Both have their pros and cons, but I tend toward hero side, if only because of the higher population.

If you go to Villain side first, Dark Kingdom seems to be a fine group. I don't have any toons in their SG, but have teamed with some of their members and had a grand ol' time. My main prolem with villain side is that the zones seem to be harder to navigate unless you have fly or super jump, but I am sure that is a result of my own deficiency.
  15. While we do have a few "powergamers" in our SG, it is a very casual play friendly group. The only activity rule we have is that you log in to your toon at least once every ten days. Beyond that, it's your subscription, play it as often as you like. Aside from very early in the morning, and very late at night, it is extremely rare for us not to have more than a few players on at all times. At peak times being somewhere around 6-11PM est, it isn't uncommon for us to have 15-20 people logged in. We generally do some kind of SG activitly every evening whether it be TFs, Trials, or sometimes just casual radio missions. We are mainly a PvE group, but recently we have had a spike in PvP activity. We started up about 6 months ago (after migrating from Liberty) and are currently ranked #11 on the server, a feat we are very proud of . We have a core group of 5 leaders who are very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and easy to approach, as well as a vent server that is very active and full of comedians. We do NOT take this whole thing seriously. It is a video game, and we are here to have fun. If you are going to be in game tonight say 7ish, I'll be happy to give you a base tour. Check out www.valhallasguard.com for more details and info.
  16. Welcome back to the game, and to Freedom. I started on Liberty and moved to Freedom when my SG migrated during the Going Rogue free server transfers. Freedom is a good place and very active. We have our share of idiots, but they seem concentrated in Atlas Park for the most part . Red side tends to be a bit friendlier (ironic) but it is harder to find a team as most people seemed to have switched to blue side. My global is @Guardian Irish-Fury, feel free to shot me a tell or an invite anytime. I am in a large and very active hero side SG called Valhalla's Guard if you are interested, but I'll leave the hard core recruiting for another time.
  17. Welcome to CoH and to Freedom! Happy to have a new face! Most of your questions have been answered very well. I will say that hero side is far more populous, but I tend to go to villain side when I want good teams. It is more difficult to find a team on red side, so I think people are a bit more forgiving when it comes to teamwipes, mistakes, etc. As a new player myself, I have never gotten a rude comment from a fellow villain when I did something stupid. Villains are nicer than heroes, go figure.

As far as SGs go, allow me to take a minute to advertise. On Villain side my friend and I started a brand new, and very small SG called The Metanoia Project. We are both new to the game and wanted to learn the SG system a little. We are not powergamers by any means. We just wanted a funcional base and a place to store our alternate characters, of which we have many. We play a few nights a week, and mostly just run missions and put together PuG teams. Right now, we only have three members and about 11 total toons in the group. You are welcome to join us anytime.

Hero side is a different story. I am a member of a large and very active SG, Valhalla's Guard. Currently ranked #11 on the server, we have been around for about 6 months. We are a very friendly and mature SG. Everyone is extremely helpful and generous. Our base is huge and fully functional with TPs to all zones and worktables, storage, etc. Check out www.valhallasguard.com for info.

I know those two options are on extreme ends of the spectrum, but there ya go. Send me a tell @Guardian Irish-Fury, or PM me with any questions. I am always looking for a teammate, so feel free to shoot me an invite anytime.
  18. After i19, i was prompted on the log in screen to update the driver for my video card. It directed me to the nvidia website and I did as advised. Since I did this, I've had the exact same issue you are describing, and I'm on a PC. I'll try to run in full screen and see if that helps.
  19. I would be interested to hear solutions to this, as my buddy and I have the same issue.
  20. My suggestion for boards, copied and pasted from a similar thread:

I like the idea of boards. If we get power pool customization, we could perhaps have ice boards, fire boards, etc. In my mind it would fuction like a cross between fly and super speed. Perhaps in between the two in terms of speed, but more limited than fly in terms of height. It would be cool if they could implement some kind of system that would limit the movement speed as you gain altitude. Essentially slowing you to fly speed at higher altitudes and moving at close to super speed when you are close to the ground. I'm not even sure if that is possible. This might be a little overpowered, virtually making super speed and fly obsolete. Perhaps not having the stealth component that SS has and making it a little more end heavy would help balance the utility of the power. Anyway, here's my new travel pool.

    Boards
Tier 1: Hover board- Similar to hover in that it gives a slight def buff, but limited ariel movement. Perhaps not allowing the player to hover above normal jump height.
Tier 2: Board smack- Single target, minor damage/stun
Tier 3: Surfing- The Actual travel power
Tier 4: Planted- KB protection. Only works while close to the ground.

    Not sure about tier 4...

I was including the STF, and that is what caused me to wonder if it is possible. Can the towers that buff Recluse be taken down solo without him killing you first?
  22. I successfully solo'd my first TF last night and was filled with self pride. (It was only the Positron TF but I was proud nonetheless ). After reading the boards I see that many people have succeeded in soloing higher end TF's as well, and this got me to the question: Would it be possible, given the right build and unimited funds, to solo from 1-50, doing every TF along the way without ever joining a team? If so, what AT/powerset would be ideal? Not that I want to undertake such a task, I'm just curious if it has/can be done.
  23. Ebil Farmers -1 (because of what they(we) create.)
Ebil Marketeers +1 (because profiting of lazy people is fun)

    Ebil Marketeers- 21
    Ebil Farmers- 19
