  1. I've got 3 dmg procs in DF on my earth/time and it has helped my damage output quite a bit. I'm able to deal with larger spawns a lot quicker that I was able to before (I'm not using Stone Cages).

If you decide to go Spiritual for your Alpha, you'll be able to have perma Hasten with the base slot and perma CS with 3 slots instead of 4 (using 2 endmod/rech and a rech IO). Something to keep in mind if you wanted some slots for another power.
  2. Infini

    mind/thorn help.

From the mind side of things, everything is 'needed' except for Levitate, Total Domination, and Telekinesis. Any of those can be taken if you want them, of course, but skipping them won't really affect performance. While leveling, Confuse is your friend. Use and abuse it. Mass Hypnosis and, later, Terrify are your bread and butter mezzes for groups. Mesmerize can sleep bosses in 1 hit, also.

I'm not familiar with Thorny Assault, unfortunately.

As to your concerns for Perma Dom, getting basic levels of it isn't too difficult/expensive. Requires at least 75% global recharge and Hasten with 3 slots filled with Recharge Reduction IOs. I personally recommend shooting for 90% global recharge, at the least, as this gives you a decent buffer in case you forget to click domination or hasten.

Getting that global recharge can be pricey depending on how you go about it. Easiest way is to make sure you have 5 powers in the build that can take a Luck of the Gambler: 7.5% global recharge IO. there's 37.5% right there. This IO is really expensive if you get it off the Market. However, if you're diligent, you can just take the time to earn the various Merits the game uses as currency to get it that way.

If you don't have it yet, Google Mids Hero Designer. Download it, learn it, throw something together, and post it on the forums. The forumites will be able to help you evaluate cost and effectives of the build to fit your needs.
  3. Alright so made an alternate build that uses a lot of damage procs in the Location AoEs (QS, DF, VG, and EQ).

Funny thing is I was also able to trim off some Rech IOs from some powers and still maintain Perma everything with T3 Spiritual Radial (T3 is more practical for me to get, anyway).

    Time Manipulation is ridiculous

  4. What if Propel were at Targetted AoE? I mean sometimes you're tossing cars at something. Surely a car would hit more than one thing in a mob. They could even keep the activation time as is if this were the case. Doesn't have to be a large AoE, either. 10-12ft?

Dimension Shift needs to be changed, at the very least. I've seen here on the forums the various suggestions for a change. My favorite being a pseudo pet patch that has a random chance to apply various mez effects on targets in the field.

Or perhaps a 'polarity shift' for Singy depending on where you are. If you're within Melee range, Singy would act as he does now - repelling foes who come into range. Outside of melee, what if Singy's repel turned into a taunt? Gravitational forces pulling foes towards the Singularity.

Actually, you and I were both incorrect on damage procs. DF can take up to 5. Impeded Swiftness, Neuronic Shutdown, GW's Embrace, Unbreakable Constraint, and Gladiator's Net.

Additionally, there's the Lockdown +2mag hold and 2 -rech procs from Pacing of the Turtle and Basilisk Gaze.

I'm starting to lean towards damage proc'ing it with 3 of the ones listed above (non purple/pvp) and a rech IO or two.
  6. I don't normally do this, but I already had this build because I was planning on making one for myself. Then MA got ported over to tanks and I went with it for Storm Kick's +def.

This build does have the Glad. Armor +3% def but you could do well without it while you're earning to get it (if you can't right away).

  7. Build looks ok - too expensive for my tastes.

Only real gripe is the whole "I tend to play in melee but have slotted for range defense"

    Doesn't really make sense >.>

And you might as well keep CS on all the time since the +rech portion is perma.

Lockdown also has that great chance for +2 mag hold, as well as the set bonuses help me soft cap ranged def.

So what are you folks doing with slotting Distortion?
On my Earth/Time troller I'm looking at either 4 Basilisk Gaze and the Lockdown proc OR damage procs. DF takes up to 4 of them (1 from Slows and 3 from Holds).

If you're goal is to softcap range and you need that % from Lockdown to get it, I'd just stick with Lockdown. That said, 42% range def will serve you just as well, so you could probably do without the set, too.

Basically it depends on the rest of your build and if you can achieve your goals with it or not.

My goal is to keep this as cheap as possible so keep in mind that while I do have a bit of Inf to spend, I also have like 100 alts so not a great ton to spend on any one. Anyways, here goes with my first attempt at posting up a build.

With Ice/ your first goal is to softcap defense to s/l/e/n without the use of EA. It's a pretty trivial thing to do with /Ice (I'll post my build in a sec). After you finish that goal you should strive for a mix of +hp/regen/recharge. Not in any particular order but you would 'like' to have enough recharge to have at least perma Hoarfrost. The +hp/regen bits will help to offset your lack of resists (1 lucky shot gets you and you're healing it back while subsequent hits miss). I try to get at least 1% hp/sec on regen.

You've got the right idea for slotting EA, though, which is great. Save up for the LotG: +rech IOs though. You have several types of currency to utilize nowadays. Influence, Reward Merits, Alignment Merits, AE tickets, and Astral/Empyrean Merits (from iTrials). So getting those more expensive pieces for your build isn't so much a matter of the amount of Inf you have, but the amount of time you're willing to invest to earn those things.

Here's my Ice/Ice/Soul's build. IMO, Soul Mastery is way better than Artic in order to 'maximize' the build because you're stacking damage debuffs with CE. Additionally, Gloom completes /Ice's lack of a good ST attack chain (GIS is poo).

Also, Hibernate can survive on just the base slot. Enhancing the recharge does diddly squat for you now because of the No Phase effect it puts on you, forcing you to only be able to use the power ever 2min. It sucks, I know.

Anyway here's my build for you to use as a reference. It is more expensive than yours, but as I said, there are many many ways to acquire what you need in the current game.

On WP it becomes a 'bit of each' system, bit typed, bit location defense, but they nulify eachother.

And Crane kick, i hate that power, luckely 1 power that you can skip

Btw, Mid's say Eagle Claw gives a 33% dmg bonus, thats correct?
Storm Kick was originally designed for +10% to positional defense but was changed in Beta to be +10% Def(all but psi). So it CAN work with all sets.

And EC does give a 33% dmg buff. there's like a 2.5sec lag to it, though, after EC connects.

Cardiac will give you the extra resistance, but the extra end reduction will be wasted. It seems to me you're already overflowin on endurance management tools.

You armors that are three slotted with Aegis - do they cap out your resistance? If not, does replacing the triple with a Rech/Res do the trick? It would be a shame to lose a few points since Electric Armour has such good resists. I doubt you need the extra end reduction. I doubt you need Physical Perfection even, but I'm a low maintenance endurance player who doesn't mind my bar dropping quite a bit.

For the Gladiator's Armor, save up your Hero Merits. Run weekly task forces and convert the merits, and race through the signature arc each week. It can be a long term goal if you like.

    Otherwise, loooking good.
I think the resistances are pretty good where they are. I haven't really stress tested it yet need to get on an ITF sometime). Swapping out the triple Aegis for res/rech only adds about 2% enhancement value.

Spiritual, it is, though! And I'm thinking Rebirth to use when Energize is recharging.

And I was completely unaware you could convert reward merits to alignment merits. Exciting! Thanks for the insights!
  13. I wonder if damage procs would be better... DF could take 3 procs (4 if you include the purple Hold set). Of course I'm not sure how often the power pulses. Going to assume once every 10sec, which is 4 chances to proc per use. However, if the hold sets' procs only have a chance when DF lands a hold, then I don't see it as worth it.

I agree with the EPP/PPP revision. Level 32 would have been a nice place to start as I have builds that skip that power, but not level 35/38.
  14. That is a pretty cool build, Tex! I really have no idea what incarnate slots I would choose for this guy. From play experience so far, I don't really get attacked all too often unless I'm in the middle of the mob so I was more concerned with getting mezzed, which is why I grabbed IW.

Other concerns was damage, which I think gets remedied with Mental Blast for ST and Psi 'Nado for AoE since it recharges so quickly.

For those Lockdown procs - are you using them currently? I was curious as to their performance in both VG and DF since I haven't gotten them, yet.

But huge fan of your build! Only gripe I had was when you mentioned the possibility of the Devs making Farsight unaffected by PB. That would be such a letdown if they did it after you completed the build.

I'm pretty excited to finish this guy. I've been putting more time/effort into my elec/ma tank but that project is already 90% finished or so. Should be able to finish this troller before the end of the year once I get back into ticket farming for the IOs.

Different ATs doesn't even have a bearing when discussing simple build mechanics. I was trying to point out using Mako's for +range instead of Red Fortune. Or even using Crushing Impact in your attacks for the +rech. You don't need all of those slots in the toggles/passives when it is ridiculously easily to hit the softcap with tanker SR.

But thank you for pointing out that glaring flaw. I'll be sure to go back and read the game manual for clarification on AT roles. /sarcasm

  16. So with the new Mids I'm finally able to look at this build (the troller is already level 39) and my immediate thought was to go for pure recharge in order to toss out the 4 LAoE patches often and to have things like perma Hasten and Farsight.

I am sticking to level 33 IOs for exemping and I'm set on using Basilisk Gaze where I have them. Insight to the rest of the build is welcome as I'm not too versed in Earth Control and Time (since it's new).

With Spiritual Radial pretty much everything is perma: Hasten, IW, Farsight, and CS as well as the 4 location AoEs. If I'm looking at it right, should also be able to keep TS on 4 people, too.

  17. Hi all. Finally able to create an official Elec/Ma build in Mids. This tank is currently level 44 and has a majority of the IOs listed in the build. Things like the positional defense I don't want to deviate from as I have all of those IOs, already. So far she has been a very successful tank. Solo she's able to take on AVs (except ones like Marauder with higher smash resists) and on teams she's been quite survivable using just lucks and storm kick to emulate the final build's defense numbers.

A note on that Glad. Armor. I'm most likely not going to get it and just settle for ~40% defense as I feel it will be sufficient solo and team buffs would easily make up the difference. So if you feel I could use that slot elsewhere, I'm open to suggestions.

Finally, I'm still debating Incarnate slotting. Alpha is a toss up between Spiritual Radial for more Energize uptime and more Acc from FA or Cardiac Core for endredux and pushing s/l resist over 80%. The other iSlots I have no idea what to do with. Thoughts?

    SR/MA build

overslotted the SR/ side while underslotted the /MA side. you'll get better numbers if you switch that. 6 slot your attacks with sets that give bigger defense bonuses and just ED cap your defensive powers.

look at my dm/sr scrapper for example

This. Darkest Night would be way more beneficial to you. Tohit debuffs to stack with any defense you have and Dmg debuffs to lessen the hits you do take.
  20. They mean that you SHOULD take Terrify.

As for your hoarfrost concern. Move Invis to the 40s and start Ice Mastery at level 35 with Sleet. After that you take Hoarfrost, then Ice Storm, and Frozen Armor last. Putting Invis at level 49.

    so:
    35 - Sleet
    41 - Hoarfrost
    44 - Ice Storm
    47 - Frozen Armor
    49 - Invisibilty.

That should allow you to maintain your slotting.

You have 0 imob to keep them in place, your team on the other hand is almost certain to have a metric ton of AOE flying around that wrecks your sleep and your terror.
Never had this problem on teams... minions are dead after the first team volley and LTs/Bosses are only able to attack every few seconds while feared and being damaged. I've never had runners being an issue on the teams I run with.

PUGs... that could be a different story.
  22. Thanks for this. Now I'm able to see how much recharge I can cram into my Earth/Time troller. Hooray for Perma Hasten, Indomitable Will, Farsight, and Chrono Shift! Also, Location AoE patches - soooo many patches!!!
  23. Drop Levitate and get Terrify.

MH and Terrify are your bread and butter AoE controls because they recharge much quicker than TD and MC.
  24. Finally figured it out. It was a pathing issue as I was unaware my game decided to start running from C: instead of F: where I had installed it.

    Thanks for the help, everyone!
  25. I'm running an elec/ma tank (lvl 42 atm) and it has been quite fun.

As Dechs said, take SK and EC and use them all the time. Thunder Kick, too, for Bruising.

For EC's dmg buff, there is a bit of lag before it kicks in (say the amount of time it takes for you to use TK and SK).

After finally noticing that, I run my ST attack chain as EC>TK>SK>CAK>CS. With Hasten running, this is seamless. Without Hasten I just have to toss in an extra TK at the end of the chain.

For AoE using Dragon's Tail you'd EC>TK>SK>DT>Filler until EC recharges.

My build is IO'd already (started at level 30 with ALL level 33 IOs) and is probably about 15 or so IOs from completion. So far I've solo'd the CWK, Anti-Matter and Neuron (twice each), and Adamastor. As AVs, of course. I tried Marauder but his smashing resist was too much and I couldn't even dent him.

I'm just building enough positional defense to softcap with SK. Using purples to do the same, right now, and it has been very effective.
