  1. Time has 3 heals.

The first one you get is and it isn't very strong until mixed with heal 2 or 3. Temporal Mending - PBAoE, Ally +Heal, Heal Over Time, +Res(Slow, Regen Debuff)

    The second is Temporal Selection
    Ally, +Damage, +Recharge, +Regeneration

You distort time around an ally, selecting a period of time where their abilities are at their highest. Their damage, attack rate and regeneration rates are dramatically increased for a brief period. This power places the Accelerated effect on the target. While this is in effect, the target has any healing and healing over time effects from Temporal Mending or Chrono Shift significantly increased. Recharge: Very Long

Designer's Comments: Temporal Selection is another pivotal power. Not only does it significantly boost the target's damage, attack rate and regeneration, but it also applies the Accelerated effect. This special effect will cause affected allies to receive a 50% bonus from Temporal Mending and Chrono Shift.

The 3rd heal is sort of a god mode for a short time for your team Chrono Shift
PBAoE, Team +Recharge, Heal, +End, Moderate Healing over Time, +Recovery

You cause nearby allies to act more quickly by allowing them to slip through the time stream seamlessly. When Chrono Shift is activated, you and nearby allies will immediately recover a portion of your health and endurance. Chrono Shift will greatly increase the Recharge Speed of nearby allies for the duration of the power, additionally for a short while the flow of time will constantly undo a portion of your allies' wounds causing them to periodically recover health and recover endurance. An ally affected by Temporal Selection will recover additional health from Chrono Shift. Chrono Shift will apply a regeneration bonus instead of heal over time for a short while if the user is in a PvP zone. Recharge: Very Long

Designer's Comments: Chrono Shift is a tremendously useful buff for all nearby allies. It can help you recover from a nasty situation where massive damage has been dealt or your team's endurance has been sapped. Alternatively it can be used preemptively so your allies have a heal over time effect when they enter combat. Regardless of how you use it Accelerated targets will gain a +50% bonus to the healing they receive and all targets will receive a hefty bonus to their recharge. This includes the caster. This can really take the sting out of the long cooldown on this and other powers within the Time Manipulation set. However, this power has a very long cooldown time.

The other important power while not a heal is a strong buff - Farsight
    PBAoE Team, +To-Hit, +Defense(All), +Perception

You give your allies a brief glimpse of the future and what is to come. This provides you and your team a moderate increase to your chance to hit and defense for a short period of time. Recharge: Very Long

Designer's Comments: Farsight is the quintessential buff power for the set. It provides a good sized boost to defense to all nearby allies as well as a moderate increase to chance to hit, what's not to like about that?

You know the rezzing doesn't really matter.

Drop the rez power and just run it again!
  3. Fire/Time if you don't mind them being angry at you for being too good

The buffs are very good the controls exceptional and once you get to 32 the damage is also very good.

Smoke + Time Juncture + Hot Feet + Fire cages + Fire Flash + Time Distortion and nothing moves. Then you still have Cinders and Time Stop and Time Crawl for the next group, that is just at level 22.

Edit* - I just read you never played a controller before! Ok, a more hands on how to guide.

Approach the mob and at distance use Smoke, as the team goes in use Flash Fire and drop Time Distortion. You will have Time Juncture and Hot Feet toogled on. Then immediately Fire Cage to freeze everything from wandering. Bosses hit with Time Crawl and then Time Stop and it generates a Mag 4 Hold that stops any boss.

Use You single player heal on a blaster or your melee that takes the alpha as it caused increased regen and also it boosts the level of your regular AoE heal.

Then save Cinders for the next group!

But you see it isn't abusive because I can still farm the map with blasters, controllers and even some defenders. Tanks and Scrappers can do it easily and I even had a Stalker join me in one run from 1-22 and it took the two of us about 2.5 hours or so.

The real bonus for me is the ticket drops. I can cash them in when I feel lucky and doing just 5 runs netted me a recipe that sold for 3 million for my controller at level 10.

Yes, I die often on squishies but the ticket drops far outweigh the levels earned. To be honest if they cut the XP in half I wouldn't care one whit. The ability to fill many IO slots with stuff I got myself and didn't have to buy is a great advantage.
  5. I have one question about this arc - it is very enjoyable and you face some stiffly fought battles and foes.

However why is the first arc which is very long only worth 2 merits? I got done with the first arc and felt completely underwhelmed when I had fought so hard and so long and got 2 merits............

The Midnighters arc is much shorter and easier and it is 8 merits!

Do they have a wheel that they roll to determine the points or is it a straight out dart board selection?
  6. Infernus_Hades

    Cebr

In fact this arc should not be in any "grey" area. You are at threat of defeat and often do die. This is the penalty they use to balance the game - the threat of failure.

You are fighting, in most cases solo as more are less effective. The XP gain is not as outrageous as some of the fire farm types where you doorsit.

I guess it was the open and honest appraisal of this that wee-wee'd in someone's cornflakes.

If we had a Dev step in and actually say what THEY thought was fair we would have a guideline. Otherwise we have to guess at some vague and threatening big brother standing over us with a stick to penalize us.
  7. I often build characters based on Synergy - the combining of 2 or more items to make it far stronger than each individual power can be.

So as I pondered Sloe D'Jinn was born.

Now to build synergy - Smoke, Flashfire, Hot Feet, Time's Juncture, Distortion Field
and Fire Cages create a world where you the controller can pause and sniff the roses as you melt everyone back to their component elements.

You can slow the world down for you and your team and with further powers in your chain Time Stop and Chrono shift you become a Medusa in a world full of statues. Then your imps wander in and smash the statues
  8. I logged in this morning for the first time on i21 (had network issues at work and so a couple of very long days to resolve it) and I was happy with the new content. I did see a few things that made me feel like Charlie Brown.

I decided to make a new Beam/Time corruptor. I wanted to build her on Exalted so I did and Heart of Glass entered the world of CoH on a new server.

Looking through the new stuff I see Beam powers and buy them out of my 1750 points. I then decided the Heart chest piece looked nice and fitted the theme and bought that. I went through and created the character and while it was odd to be spending points everytime I turned around I had plenty for now.

Then I noticed a few real problems and feel they should be mentioned.

First, if you have a single item that is a part of a pack - like the Bridal items - when you go to buy the single item please also list the full group and its cost as that would definately be helpful and feel less like nickel and dime your players.

Something like Bridal gloves - 40
Entire Bridal pack with all items 200

The other issue and the title of the thread is that as I started to play and saw emails with things to buy, costumes to buy and basically everything in the City now appearing to be for sale - I felt like Charlie Brown looking around and expecting to see price tags on the villians and the ability to buy their defeat with points. Maybe having to pay per bullet for my gun. I expected the Sham Wow guy to step out and offer me a deal for winding my watch in Time Manipulation.

In short I felt that Christmas was suddenly commercialized.

The game was cozy and full of cheer and now it had a cash register where cheer now can be purchased for 200 points - per character. I like many of the changes in the game and it is a fresh and exciting look. I fear that the heart is gone in some way - that a MacDonalds was built in the Shire.

I wonder now as I travel if I destroy something am I going to get charged points to repair the stuff I damage? It feels like Mr. Incredible did when sued for rescuing someone without permission.

Perhaps that needs to be my next Villian - Crass Commercialism.
  9. The most amusing thing is the number of people who violated the TOS by personally insulting the OP.

So if the mods are doing their job this thread is about to ASPLODE!
  10. Ever see the Winchester house?

    http://www.winchestermysteryhouse.com/thehouse.cfm

The complete randomness and design is surreal and I expected a somewhat surreal zone where all the normal designs and conventions were throw out the window.

Instead I see a design and concept in the chaos of villainy's headquarters.

It is too clean and yet depressingly dark. I expected Mad Max and got Mad Men.
  11. Fire/Fire blaster.

I just always come back to setting stuff on fire is so much fun.
  12. I watched both on my daughters graduate high school

I watched my youngest daughter get her Masters Degree in 5 years

I sold my 1955 Ford pickup to pay for my daughters college - she said dad you love that truck! I said I love you more, we cried and hugged.

I lost my dad to cancer and had to decide whether he was to die on the table trying to remove it (90% likely it was wrapped completely around the large artery on his right kidney) or came home to die. He came home and died a week later and was happy to be with the family.

I watched my 2 year old grand daughter become 9 and can tell you Papa is the best word in the world.

I watched my oldest daughter provide me with 3 grand children

I moved to keep my job

I fought in 3 SCA Crown Tournaments and finished 2nd each time!

I put my best friend Qantaqa to sleep (15 year old malamute) and in rescuing a dog from an abandoned house I found another malamute Taq who helped heal my heart.
  13. I have had only fairness in spite of at times taking things too far myself. I have had polite emails explaining why my post was deleted.

I recently violated the rules by posting about the dangers of microtransactions that another game had.

The Mod deleted the post and said in all fairness I was not discussing the other game but this game in light of possible future changes. He/She said it was being removed but it was a good positive converstion and I could repost without the offending name of the game and be quite alright.

    Seemed pretty fair to me.
  14. Thank you folks - it was great fun (I was Horus Harmakhis) and I even got an Honorable mention!

My first of your costume contests and it was light-hearted and fun. I type way too slow to win the trivia!
  15. I usually do the opposite - if I have exercised I get to play!

It really is a great motivator to say - if I put in 45 minutes - I can go and play the next 2 hours.
  16. Believe it or not a Fire/Fire blaster on the CEBR farm - I ran it a bit lower 0 x 8 but still so fast and so much crazy fun.

    Horrible Lag

I know in the past some lag issues can be tied to a hard drive that hasn't been defragged lately.

The fact you are getting repeatable spikes makes me even more strongly to suspect it.

Try downloading the Auslogic drive defragging tool. It has 2 options on the drop down - Defragment and Optimise.

With all of the recent changes and patches - I would try to Optimise the drive you have running CoH and see if that helps.
  18. I use uncommon words or ones that can be twisted into new meaning.

    Shattered Velvet

    Kerfuffle

    Sam Moo Rai

Take a verb, adverb or adjective and mix them!

    http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/adjectives.htm

    http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/adverbs.htm

    http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/verbs.htm#verb

    Then you get:

    Cool Clarion
    Concord Squeeze
    Wheezing Nostalgic

Just match a few words up and sometimes they click.

Also songs names or partial lyrics.

    Heart of Glass
    Night Moves
    Lee Ho Fook
    Hairy Handed Gent
    Amuck in Kent
    Monster Tailor

That is just from three songs!

So inspiration is everywhere and hence the reason I make alts everywhere and often delete at 50 and re-roll!

Hunk of burning love - Smoldering Valentine.

    Farm Reviews

If it is a farm then the required objects are in order of importance:

    1. does it bring levels easily
    2. does it gather ticket drops quickly
    3. is it interesting enough visually to warrant multiple replays

Understand something for those who are arrogant jackholes - the writer may not speak English as a first, second or even third language, so the story may not be possible for them to even write.

The entire use of Farms is to either provide Levels or Tickets. The groups who come far too quickly for you to read any dialog and so if they are visually attractive then it is more fun. That is the sole criteria of those who use farms.
  20. I would love to see a Hellions biker Rally!

A Skulls/Hellions gang war like the Council/5th thing oh yeah!
  21. Not even looking at the build (I'm at work) however I can say a few easy ways to get you going is pickup a few low end sets early in your auras (Quills and the Dark one) - the couple of points damage is less important than keeping everything going.

Cloak of Fear is useless until your late 30's when you can get the accolades and IO sets to power everything.

I got it and never run it on mine and he is 33. I just don't have the slots yet to power everything.

Eradication in Burst, Quills and the other Aura. Miracle + and Numina + in Heal - chance for end in your dark heal amd just fill any less used powers with end generators.

    How about looking at this from the Dev/Support point of view; The servers were very clearly nertzed. Likely everyone was on hand to try and get the darn things back to working state ASAP, which likely takes a fair while when you;
    1) Have to figure out what the hell was wrong in the first place
    2) Get rid of the wrong-causing thing
    3) Get a patch in to make everything work again
    4) Get the servers down, patched and up again and make sure they STAY up

Oh, and 5) put up with people screaming about how horrible they are for something that is about as much their fault as...well, something they have little control over. Can you see the future in the machines? If so, I'm sure they'd love to hire you.

But, apparently, trying to be logical and reasonable about problems (And, yes, I WOULD have liked to go on last night too. But, strewth almighty, it's not the end of the bleeding world) is enough to get me labelled a boot and *** licker and Dev Apologist.

So, really, why should I bother with straight-faced replies to ingratiating little ****s with the common courtesy of pond-bilge, when I can have fun watching them rage instead?
If you are a technician who works on servers and networks you know how you are viewed and don't care.

If something drops - the users say - why didn't you have a backup system in place. Nevermind that they refuse to pay extra for said redundant system.

Once it's up it isn't a thank you for fixing it - it is a what took so long?

If you can't deal with it don't get a job in the career field. It is the essential - what have you done for me lately career field.
  23. Glad to see folks trying this!

It does really teach you how to manage your blaster and actually use those inspirations not die with 4 greens sitting there. I know I was dead set against Farming as a whole but in this mission once set as a lowbie blaster to -1 x 8 - it is flat out a challenge to stay alive and get thru the first 2 spawns + the ambushes.

It is not a door sitting cruise thru a boring mission. It is INTENSE and if you make a mistake you will die!

I do enjoy it and getting to 22 in 2 hours and having a bunch of tickets to roll on the Wheel of Cheese is great! I got back to back to recipes that sold for 60 million - so 2 hours and 120 million later I was at 22

    Graphics card

    ATI 6870 $175

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo

It really is a great card if you have a PCI-E slot.

I can run almost everything at high except Anti-aliasing (I run at 4x) and Occulsion (I turn off) running at 1280x1024.

I also turn off bloom and depth of field (I just don't like how they look).
  25. Is there any reason that we can't get a way to invite our own characters to an SG?

This is one of the main issues I have with this game at the moment. Having to ask others to temporarily join the SG and then drop is silly.
