Inviting my own characters to an SG

Is there any reason that we can't get a way to invite our own characters to an SG?

This is one of the main issues I have with this game at the moment. Having to ask others to temporarily join the SG and then drop is silly.

The reason is simple - in order to invite, promote or demote a character, said character needs to be online, and because you can only have one character online from your account at a time, you can't invite your own characters.

I never said it was a GOOD reason, merely that it is simple. I, too, would love to be able to invite, promote, demote and shuffle around my own characters. Very much so. If this were possible, I might even care about SG bases and SGs more consistently. But since right now I need the help of other people who aren't always available, I don't bother.

I've always wondered why SG invites can't go through the email. For example, on my Steam, I can get a message that says "You have been invited to [Group]" and I can click to join or not. Obviously, there's potential for spam in putting this in CoH, but there's already email spam to begin with. I don't know if it's even possible with CoH tech, but it sure would be handy.

I still have a bunch of characters created around the time going Rogue came out that I still don't have in an SG because I hate asking other people to help so much. It's also an extra pain if they are strangers since I have to log on the leader, go into the base and lock down all the storage just in case they turn out to be a thief. And then after the invites log the leader back in and undo everything afterward - if I can find someone willing to help in the first place.

My SG all up and quit when the trials came out and there was no small group/SG path. Since then I've leveled a character to 50 but have no way to get her into the SG. I'd love to see a way to self invite.

It costs too much money for too little benefit. Trial and low-status Premium accounts won't be able to invite others to SGs, and I'm not paying another $15 a month just to have what I feel should have been a basic functionality from the very beginning of SGs back in 2004.

And you have to know how; I don't. And I shouldn't have to perform some elaborate workaround for such a simple task.

Any Preem account can be used to invite your alts into your own personal SG, a Freebie account would have to spend $15 in order to receive a Reward Token and gain SG privileges. If you bought the $1.99 CoH special you can use that to invite your alts in your own personal SG.

Not sure how this would work if all of the toons are on the same account. The game seems to be pretty picky about not logging in an account it thinks is already running.

On Liberty:
Aardwolf - level 50 claws/invulnerability scrapper
Anchor - level 50 level gravity/forcefield controller
Dr. Dusk - level 50 mercenaries/dark miasma mastermind

No. What you do is check out my guide to making the launcher less intrusive.
It has the instructions for allowing the launcher to have multiple instances of the game up.

Then:

  1. Log in the primary account and log on as someone with SG invite rights.
  2. Log in the secondary account and create a character.
  3. Have the primary account invite the secondary account character in and give them invite rights.
  4. On the primary account, alt to the character(s) you want to invite and have the secondary account character invite them in.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

There is a setting in the loader to allow more than one instance of the game to be running but you will need 2 accounts to do this.

I used to play odd hours which is why I started 2boxing and then all my friends left the game so it was just more convenient to make my own sg's.

ALL your friends didn't leave the game. There's still a metric buttload (as opposed to those wimpy imperial buttloads) of us still here!

Thankyou *sniff* I appreciate that.

Surely you know someone who would volunteer. If not, I'll do it. Even if I didn't have throw-away toons on ever server (which I do), it takes less than a minute to make a new one.

BTW, I've been surprised on multiple occasions when people that don't know me that well (in my opinion) have promoted me to superleader in order to get a new toon of theirs to that rank.

Same offer. I've done this for plenty of people.

Agreed and agreed. But the fact is, at the current time, either you do the workaround or it doesn't happen.
