Quote:Don't go putting words in my mouth. I never said that I personally don't check my comments.... forcing the nasty horrible comments that you can't look away from with a prybar out of view.
Or, you know, just not look.
I am simply saying that Mr. No Pants statement that the system was COMPLETELY optional is NOT COMPLETELY correct.
I have been trying to explain that the system is only MOSTLY optional.
For it to be COMPLETELY optional, the "turn off" option should actually turn off the rep FUNCTION for the person who so desires it.
My personal OPINION is that the system is not being used "as intended", has become a point of contention (this thread & several others as proof), has become a "mod sink", and does not contribute to the purpose of forum discussion. -
Quote:If you use your User CP to check on threads that you have subscribed to, the rep comments are right there. And what noitice does it give you. Is there some sort of pop up to let you knwo you have comments. Is there a public display of comments. Is there a bolded "new comments" near the top of the screen. If you look for comments you will see them.
Sometimes they are closed, sometimes they are open.
They do not STAY closed. It is not a matter of "looking for them"... they will be there whether you want them or not... hence, NOT OPTIONAL -

I think Aura was referencing the star system on the old forums... where stars were given to individuals, not just the threads. I believe THAT star system was disabled. -
Sorry, it is not COMPLETELY optional.
People can still rep and leave comments even if you have it "turned off".
Also, the comment page DOES NOT STAY CLOSED, even if you have rep "turned off".
Having rep "turned off" ONLY means that others can't see what level rep you're at.... it does not actually turn the FUNCTION off.
Therefore, it is not completely optional.
Playing on the Forum Games threads is optional.
Leave a tool out for the trolls to use, and it will get used. duh.
Just disable the function completely, it's divisive and does not contribute to the forum community in a positive manner. -

Greetings Players,
We are noticing a lot of abuse using the Reputation Comments option when leaving negative rep for other players. This is simply unacceptable. If you want to leave your fellow posters comments please understand that these comments are also covered in the Rules and Guidelines.
From now on those that are found to be abusive will have their Reputation reset to "0" (zero) making your rep power have little to no value and we will also be taking action against your forum posting account.
The Rep system is nothing more than a forum game and a way for you to have fun with each other. It was not left turned on to allow players an anonymous way to abuse, troll and attack other players.
Please review the Rules and Guidelines and think twice before posting those comments in the future.
Thanks for you support and understanding.

Quote:Actually, "import" is perfectly fine as it's used there, although "importance" might be more generally accepted. Replacing "import" with "important" would not be correct.as much as I hate to bash the dev's proofreading ability, they missed yet another mission clue.
Contact: Sunstorm
Mission: Defeat all foes on cargo ship
Bug: The clue dropped from the council guys at the start says the following,
Quote:... Brave soldiers of the Council;
Know that this mission is of particular import to me ...
(stuff like this just annoys me when I'm trying to get into the background of a class I haven't really toyed with.) -

Well then, I'm gonna start one exclusively for Great Basin residents! So there!

I don't know if this has been mentioned, I actually noticed it pre-i16, but it seems more prevalent post i16...
The player rating system wants to put commas in character names that have spaces.
This becomes a problem, because the system will not recognize character/toon names that belong to a global... the name becomes separated into individual names. "Punchy Pixie" becomes "Punchy", "Pixie". Since the names "Punchy" and "Pixie" don't actually belong to the global, the rating stars will not show on "Punchy Pixie".
I've tried going into the text file and editing the commas out, but the edits don't stick... the commas just come back in game. -

Completely useless to the hard working, agricultural providers of eastern Washington. Why not expand it to places people are far more likely to come from? I don't know, like Seattle?
Coeur d' Alene is actually just a few miles east of Spokane, but y'know those Idahoans are a bunch of radical potato heads...
This is of course coming from a former Pacific Northwet 'Greener now living in the NV desert. -
I like using the P-wiki's page for how to gain badges that have effects (there's also a page for villie badges).
-
Quote:heh.... yah, you won't see the "badge ding" again, but you should be getting "SG credit" for the badge. Double check with Vidiotmaps or P-wiki to be sure you're re-hitting them all (I tend to sweep a map for badges & plaques all at once).Hey there, just started a base a while back and collected a bunch of exploration badges pre-SG mode. Now I'm standing over ones I already have for 30 seconds, hoping they'll reactivate and allow me to build a beacon. doesn't seem to be happening - tried it in Oroboros and starting in Atlas Park, but can't tell if I'm 're-getting' the badge. Any hints?
thanks!
L.
Another way to tell if you have the beacon badge is to switch your badge list from "personal" to "supergroup" via the little buttons at the bottom of the badge list. -

- They have Base Raid ideas/tech, but not full, and no ETA
After close examination of Sunstorm's posts, it was obvious to me that he was being focused on Powers. The business of him being "assigned" to us is looking more like it was a temporary/side assignment primarily for i13.
Once again, base concerns are put on the back burner... and it seems the burner is turned off. -
P-wiki article on exemplaring with IO's
Basically, regular IO's scale.
Set IO's work a little differently... P-wiki IO general info page... be sure to check out all the links in the articles, there are a lot of details to sift through.
I'd run down a few basics... but my eyes are telling me I've been up too long already, and I'd prolly screw it up. -
Sunstorm's post history
Read it carefully and ask yourself where his focus really is.
Personally, I think there are some existing problems with bases and the base editor that should be addressed before adding extra decor on top of it all.
These are the things Sunstorm apparently has on his list for us (personally, I think it's rather truncated):
Quote:My questions would be, do we agree with this list?Old Issues given new complications:
- Storage Security
- Crafted item deletion in light of IO usage
- Lack of info about crafted recipes
- Empowerment buff balance issues
- Empowerment station help text still says 15 minutes (at a time when the devs are trying to make this more popular)
- Cost/Benefit balance of the 3 levels of PVP Cannons (eg, Scanner vs Advanced Scanner vs Elite Scanner), especially with the new crafting costs being so simmilar
- Concerns over path-restricted base designing as an abstract cost of base raiding
- Lack of a beacon to the Midnighter Club (now that there are contacts inside)
.
.
New Issues:
- Salvage storage capacity, including Holiday salvage
- Rent has been reduced to meaningless amounts of Prestige.
- bug with Base Day Job location and base teleporter vet power
- Idea of joining multiple SGs (inspired by dual builds in I13)
- Idea of removing crafting, either completely, or for all PVE items
- Loss of Magic Doors
.
.
Old SG issues:
- Inviting/Promoting/Demoting Offline members
- Players looking to join SG's able to contact SG recuiters. (Via SG register or other method)
Do we need to ask him to change/update things on it?
Is HE even still the one we need to talk to concerning bases? -
Quote:This has always been the case as far as I remember in the last couple years. Sometimes if two doors on the same building are hit, both spawns will come out of one door... or even solo, sometimes the spawn will come out of the next door down. *shrug*when two doors near each other are both engaged by ToTers. The second group ... coming to a door next to an already engaged first group and door will spawn their door critters at the first group's door.
Quote:(On another note, I'm not seeing the lack of Jack this year, as some have said. My fav zone for Eo and Jack is Brickstown, and yesterday I led a team through 10 or so GM spawnings and Jack appeared 3 times. It actually seemed better than last year's event when you could easily go through 15 Eo's before seeing Jack.)Wow! What kind of luck charms do you carry, and where can I get one?
Quote:
... leaders of full teams jumping zone to zone and giving incorrect instructions?! ( For instance, there was one little team in all of Perez Park, and the leader of said team proclaimed that they could make the banners vulnerable just by gathering at one. Uh... no. -

Is there a trick for it?Quote:2. In the options window, keymapping tab, set your keys the way you want as standard. At the top of this window, hit the "save as default" button.
The buttons at the bottom of the general tab are for everything else. Which is why I listed doing the keymapping first, and the general tab last. -
Okay, I've composed a "last chance" letter... changing names, to avoid libel...
Quote:Straightforward enough?Artist,
Yet again we have a situation where I have not heard from you in a timely fashion.
It has been six weeks since you sent me your last rendition.
This is my third RE-send in addition to my initial response within that time.
This has become an all too familiar pattern.
Again, the commission was for an ink/no color drawing, initially commissioned April 19, 2009. Furthermore, I paid upfront with my m/c (transactions posted 4/20 & 4/21).
I have spoken with other artists as well as other people who have commissioned similar works, and they all agree that this situation is unacceptable.
If the work is not completed within 2 weeks, I will consider the commission as services not rendered and will contact my m/c company in regards to reversing the charges. I sincerely hope it does not come to that.
The ball, as they say, is now (has been) in your court.
I will be sending a hardcopy of this email via certified mail #
to your address at:
Respectfully,Artist's address
(me)
Seriously, it hurts me to write stuff like this... I really really hate it. -
Quote:1. Set up a new hero with your basics that you want as standard for all.Wait... wut?
TUTORIAL plz! With pictures! I've been re-organizing my screen on EVERY new character. How do you do this? Step by step please, don't just tell me to "figure it out". I'm lazy.
2. In the options window, keymapping tab, set your keys the way you want as standard. At the top of this window, hit the "save as default" button.
3. In the options window, graphics tab, set your graphics, window sizes, shading, etc. the way you want for standard.
4. In the options window, general tab, set everything the way you want as standard. Go to the bottom and hit all the "save" buttons. BE CAREFUL... The buttons are aligned, but one of them is labeled opposite of the rest. Be sure you are hitting the "save" buttons and not the "load" buttons. Hit "apply now".
Now, when you make a new character, go into the options window, to the various tabs and hit the "load" buttons. viola!
You may still need to customize keybinds and other bits for each toon, but at least you won't have to reset every minute detail every single time. -
Quote:Though I appreciate the offer, I'm not really comfortable with this. It sort of defeats the premise of having paid for an original piece of artwork... and it is still HIS work.If it becomes evident that the artist is not going to continue, and the sketch you have on hand is exactly what you want just not finished, I'm willing to finish rendering it for you. It would be a digital file, so you'd have to get it printed yourself.
My next question would be, if it comes down to canceling the commission and asking for my money back, does that automatically rescind the permission I gave him to use my likeness? or do I need to do that separately? Some of his work is on the rather naughty side... I don't want to come back 5 years down the line and see that he's used my likeness in one of "those" pieces. -
This thread deserves some serious
-
What Aett said.
It is nice to craft higher IO's and store them in your base (if you have one) for future use. -
Paragon Wiki is your friend
I had to look it up too... the nav bar thing is a little confusing, especially once the banners go down... I've not had any luck getting to the GM Aspect by using it. If there are several teams in the zone, it's likely the GM Aspect will go down faster than you can say "boo"... and you have to be in the vicinity in order to get the badge for it. PITA, if you ask me. -
Quote:I'm quite aware of this...... unfortunately you're now a problem customer to that artist. It's their fault in the first place, though if they were willing to ignore you in the first place, the heated messages are likely not helping the problem any. You're likely getting pushed back out of spite now, or possibly because they don't want to even deal with any thought of you now.
As an actress, I am very conscientious of artist's sensibilities. Browbeating is not my style. In fact, I've made it a point to keep my notes and comments very positive even when asking for adjustments.
It's only after HE has ignored me so many times that I've had to resort to expressing my disappointment in his lack of communication and foot dragging (not in the work itself). I've kept these notes straightforward, not personal. Amazingly enough, whenever I've sent these negative notes, I've received a reply within a couple days.
The positive notes get ignored until I send a negative note, which then suddenly garners a reply. I did not set this pattern, HE did. But now, of course, I'm the problem customer... that's just bass-ackwards. -
Is long enough?
I commissioned a piece of art (animated portrait) in April, ink, no color. This artist travels the sci-fi & fantasy convention circuits, is fairly well known and has a reasonable portfolio. He had an entire questionnaire that I filled out, and we discussed themes and tone.
The next day, I gave him some photos for general reference and posed (a very specific pose) for him to take quick pics with his phone. I paid upfront with my ccard and he said he'd have a pencil sketch for me within 2 weeks.
Two weeks became six. When I finally did get the sketch, the pose was somewhat reversed of what I had specifically done for him initially. So I sent him my notes and waited for a response... resent, and waited... and waited... and resent, and waited....
It's only after I sent him a "strongly worded" note, that I finally got a response.
This has become the pattern over the last several months. He only responds when I send him nasty notes. At one point, I even sent him hardcopies of all my e-mails... certified mail, return receipt.
It took 5 months to get a pencil sketch based on my original pose (I even sent him new pic.s). There were a few adjustments, and the latest sketch is pretty much spot on. I've again sent him a note with only a couple comments in a fairly "thumbs up" tone.
It's been yet another month with no reply.
I'm really tired of sending nasty notes and I really hate that I feel like I've been put into the position of nagging. So, how much longer before I tell him to stuff it and call my ccard company to dispute the charges?
