I have no doubt that it was a generic letter that he sends out to everyone. It just floors me that he actually sent it to me considering the lengths we had to go to for this project. The very least he could have done was send a little more personalized letter (even if he didn't want to apologize).

    Oh well. *shrug*

I would gladly say more, but I don't think this is the place to be blasting an artist that may not have been the one about which this thread was started.
I will just say that DKW is not the artist in question.... but they sound like they could be long lost relatives.

Ego is a pitfall that many artists in various mediums tend fall into.

I saw it just the other day on one of those Make-me-a-cake shows. The "customer" set the parameters, but one of the cake artists went in a completely inappropriate direction. At the judging, she flat out said (paraphrasing) 'I don't pay attention to what the customer wants, I trust my own vision'. The "customer" then responded, "So, what you're saying is that in the end, it's all about YOU". And the "artist" nodded affirmatively!! oi.

I've seen it where actors fight with directors over their 'vision' of a character... Hello! The director exists for a reason... to direct, point, guide a vision into cohesiveness. I've seen productions where actors have been allowed to run amok, it's not pretty.

If an artist wants to run solo, all the power to them. Some artists have been successful at it, but it's pretty rare.

If an artist wants to make money and treat their talent as a business, then they need to recognize that any business requires collaborative effort in one way or another.

There's a place for ego, and there's a time to set it aside.

I did receive the work and am satisfied with it (though I'm considering whether or not to have it colored).

I just wanted to share a couple excerpts from the letter the artist sent along...

    1. Yeeeeeaah... because sending you emails throughout this process was SO productive.
    2. Yeah, you're probably right, as an actress I would have NO IDEA how important feedback is. (He knows I'm an actress, as I'd mentioned it in one of those "feedback" emails I sent).

  4. There's an option at the bottom of the advanced search page to search for threads or posts... I usually search for posts, then just skim the "quick look boxes" for posts that seem relevant to what I was looking for.
  5. While I agree that statistics would be more helpful, I'm just saying I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss someone's "perception". It took a LOT of players to run a boatload of stats before it was taken seriously last time... Perhaps look at this as a call for assistance
  6. Something for the "knowledgeable folks" to remember.... Back before Synapse found the problem, the "drop rate bug" was shrugged off as a "perception issue" because it didn't happen to everyone. So... it wouldn't surprise me that it might be back after patching the Halloween Event in/out.

Actually, it was the first thing I mentioned to Hubby.
"You know some boneheads are gonna be stupid with that emote, right?"
    "Yup."
    *rolleyes*

Otherwise, the pack looks pretty awesome. The costumes are nice, and the run power is cool. Although, I'm in the "not sure I want to give up my CJ defenses for it on some toons" camp.
  8. I don't know if it's feasible, but would it be possible to attach a sort of "zone flag" with the events? So that when an event spawns in a zone, that zone is then "timed out" for, say, 30 min.s from having other events (be it zombies, banners or Eochai) spawn in it.

This would prevent the events from spawning back to back within a zone so as not to interfere with regular content hunts and whatnot. Also, it would prevent situations where teams have to fight off Eochai while also trying to beat down the banners... especially since the banners themselves are on a timer.

I also agree that the banner event could have used a little more time at the top to allow for team gathering and strategizing. Or, as has been suggested, as a reward with each banner downed... kinda like getting extra time on the bank mishes.

As for the eternal night... I have to say it does become dreary for playing after a while. I can stand it for maybe 5 days, then I just don't feel like it anymore.

I really do love the Halloween events.. all of them. It just seemed like they were a little overwhelming this year.

It's possible that the mods are limited to the scope of customization options the vBulliten system allows. I'm guessing this is the compromise they were able to implement within that scope.

But it's a compromise, so those who really really really really neeeeeed to see their comments can do so.

    No.

You can still give rep to others and leave comments.

To see the rep/comments others have given you, click on the rep icon in your own posts. To see how this works, try it on a post you know you've received rep on.

To see a list of your posts, click in the space to the right of your avatar name to access the dropdown menu, or go to your CP -> Profile -> Statistics -> list posts.

Not sure what your definition of "a lot" is, but I know "several" people who couldn't give a rat's tail over it.

I predict that it will make a stir for a short time, until folks get tired of the SLOW-MO aspect. Then, as another poster mentioned, it will get tossed into the dustbin with the rarely used fly poses.

Don't know if it's applicable, but I believe there is also a setting in the graphics tab of the options menu in game. It's there with all the resolution choices, if I remember correctly. Be sure to "apply now", then restart the game for it to take effect.

lol.. I can't disagree with the first part of your statement...

But as to the second part... the events should be secondary to the regular content. Consider that the events themselves ARE currently timed so as not to interfere with regular content. How much sense does it make then, to have them popping up back to back thereby interfering with regular content?

We are not talking about tweaking the events themselves (at least I'm not), but rather implementing a kind of timed "zone flag" so that they don't occur back to back in the same zone. Imagine what would happen if they were to decide to add yet a third event into the mix next year.

In order to restore the divide between the top and bottom boxes, simply click on a tab (any tab) and drag it down - this will recreate the two boxes. You can then create more tabs. So long as at least one tab remains in the bottom box, it will remain in existence.
    This

You should have some default tabs at the top of your chat window. I've found that if I grab one of them and drag it down to the middle (or past middle) of the window, the "lost" tab will sometimes suddenly reappear, along with the mid-bar. Worth a shot.

I've also seen mention of it from other posters who went to Herocon. So, I believe it is in the pipeline... and am thankful for it.
  23. Y'know, I've said before, I understand the lack of new shineys... but there are longstanding issues with bases that have not been addressed... some of which would seem to require minimal effort to fix.

My personal peeve is the salvage limit:

    Quote:
    Q. Salvage Storage Racks, Why only 30 pieces of invention salvage?

    A. In short, the market. The market system is designed to have a steady supply of salvage coming in. If large salvage racks were added, it would create a temporary supply problem of unknown duration until the salvage racks filled up.

Since having salvage temporarily dry up would be a big problem for all players, this number was intentionally kept low. Once the impact on the markets as a whole can be measured, we will look at adjusting these numbers again.
In light of the horrendous effect MA initially had on the market (in spite of several warnings from the market folks), the "we don't want to screw up the market" argument no longer holds water. It is LONG PAST TIME for this nerf to be re-evaluated.

I can't count how many times in the last year new builders have come in and asked (in various ways) why this limit exists. 30 pieces per rack is not enough to support a SG much larger than 3-5 players with their alts. Please raise the limit to at least 100 items per rack so we can quit using our lvl 50 char's as salvage mules.

Other small fixes include (but are not limited to):
    • No artwork for Pocket D beacon
    • Empowerment stations list 15 minute durations, they were changed to 1 hour in the 8.16.06 patch but the text was not updated.
    • Upkeep Overpayment - if you pay too early, your next bill for rent will be due 2 weeks earlier than it should
    • Storage needs to be sortable, or simply default sorted by item instead of by time (such as using the same sort order as an NPC store)
    • Inf to Pres trade-in at the Register is a huge ripoff. A level 50 turning on SG Mode gives up about 150,000 Inf in order to earn 2,000 Prestige, the Register charges 1 million for 2k. Certainly SG Mode should remain the best income source, but the Register should be close, not 500:1.
    • Storage log can be spammed to remove history
    • Animations for certain defensive items work only upon initial placement and don't work anytime after that.
I'm not looking for all base problems to be resolved, but if BAB can manage to sneak in a walk toggle, is it so unreasonable for us to wish for a bone from Sunstorm?

That's not taking newspaper/radio missions, Mayhem/Safeguard missions, and AE missions into consideration. None of those are affected by the Halloween event.
You're not taking Oro mishes into account, either.

Having finished all the Holiday events on as many toons as I wanted, I teamed up with a friend to get a badge through the Oro. There was a "hunt 35 family in IP" mish that came up as part of the arc. Wouldn't ya know it, but both a Banner Event and a Zombie Event popped up back to back. Since the mish specified IP, we didn't have the option to move to another zone for the hunt and were stuck twiddling our thumbs for 40 minutes until the events cleared.

I don't think 'Just wait to do regular content for two weeks until the holiday events are over' is the right answer.
  25. From Sunstorm's post history:

Q: Why was it necessary to take raiding offline?

OK, so now that things have calmed down a bit, here's the low down on this one.

... The reason it's still offline is because a number of the {PvP} systems have been partially reworked for the changes. We're not exactly sure what would happen if base raids were turned on again, so we're keeping it locked away in a cage over a deep pit for now.

In fact, base pathing was removed not just because the base editors would have fun with it, but also because some of the bugs caused by changing items for raiding were not easily solvable. Yes, we'll be looking at options regarding base pathing. Considering some bases have almost a 3 items per square foot density, that particular setup may not be viable. There are other ways around the pathing problem though.

Hope that clarifies things a bit.
