I've been thinking Quantum Flight could be very nice for PvP if you could spare some slots for it so you could phase in and out pretty frequently. 3 recharges and maybe 1 or two reductions, together with Hasten which you already have.

Quantum flight will suck your end dry and i'll tell you why .. its a power that as long as its active it uses more and more end the longer its on so 1-2 end reduxs will not cut it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As far as I can tell it has got 40 seconds or so of fixed endurance cost, after that it starts to skyrocket. But even those 40 seconds are pretty expensive, which is why I was suggesting the endurance reductions. With 3 recharges and Hasten it's up almost every 20 seconds.

I think the worse part was having to have people escort me to mission doors rather than slacking off when actually inside the mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good point, since this is what the Kheldians can avoid, having a travel power at level one.

    Finland, style capital of Europe

Just one more reason why residents in Finland should be excluded from PvP zones. (thanks to Brighteyes for the link)

You mean our incredible stylishness throws you off your game? I get that.
  4. I love Domination, it makes me feel like a god, it makes me grin like Cheshire Cat. But I do think there's some point in what Hammerfall suggests. Sometimes I feel too binary, some boss fights are either trivially easy (with Domination) or really hard (without Domination). Maybe they could remove some of the damage bonus and give the attacks a slight boost, but leave some as it is. Double mag is my favorite part about Domination anyway.
  5. Five words: fulcrum shifted fireball with containment
  6. Actually I have to admit that I do see a disproportionally large amount of low level kheldians sidekicked up in teams. But honestly, I think it's just the fact that they already have a 50, not that the AT they're playing is a kheldian. Does that makes sense? Some people just don't feel like going through the low levels again, whatever the AT. Maybe the AT makes it easier though, since it's a bit like walking credentials. I know I get more global friend requests in PUGs when I'm on my PB than with any other toons and as incredible as the PB is, I doubt it's all because of skill.

I actually thought my peacebringer was great at low levels. Travel power right away and Nova at level 6 is just uber. I don't understand why people would want to PL more than on any other ATs as they seem to be specifically designed to make low levels go smoother. I guess someone skipping Nova might have worse time of it, though.

heh my WS didnt have any pool powers till 44... and then i only picked hasten cause i ran outta WS powers that fit into my build

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know what you mean.. it's a strange feeling looking at all the pool powers you're usually desperate to squeeze in your build and thinking "meh, I don't really need that".

I have Hasten, SS and Stealth on my PB now. Hasten is great to have, the rest are luxury powers that I took because they didn't require any slots. I wish I could trade in some of my power choices for more slots.

I took out Indigo easily though.

    Elite Boss or Hero?

Anyway it could be a rock paper scissors thing. For example my decidedly non-gimp EM/Fire brute had huge trouble with Professor Echo arc - she couldn't do much due to being perpetually on her backside. Eventually managed to beat the EB version by munching 8 lucks. I'm sure it wouldn't have caused my dom to even blink.
  9. You wouldn't need to slot Revive so much if you took Parry.
  10. I've been thinking Quantum Flight could be very nice for PvP if you could spare some slots for it so you could phase in and out pretty frequently. 3 recharges and maybe 1 or two reductions, together with Hasten which you already have.
  11. Maybe us Icy assaulters have too low damage. Some people did report soloing a multitude of EBs with /ice too, though. I haven't even tried soloing many EBs with mine because I always preferred to team. Controlling is just more fun when there are actual crowds to control.

Those fire dom videos were fun to watch, though. He did use a lot of inspirations. Indigo was a Hero and took him forever to take down, he had Domination at the start and hit it again halfway through, and was perpetually out of endurance. Don't fire doms get Consume? He seemed to do very nice damage and looked extremely blasty for a dominator, but I'm not familiar with most fire animations.
  12. I think it's Arbiter Leery. I misremembered by the way, the videos were of Wretch, Indigo and Ice Mistral.
  13. There's a thread about doms soloing elite bosses on US forums at the moment. There's even videos about someone soloing Indigo, Sea Witch and Ice Mistral there. Makes me want to play a fire/fire dominator.
  14. Integration has a nice regen rate boost which is really what makes most difference at that point (well that and the knockback protection). It's just all around wonderful life transforming power. I felt terribly squishy in teams before it, afterwards everything turned easy.
  15. Just tough it out until level 16, after you get Integration Regen is wonderful.
  16. I have been in Sirens a few times with a couple of different toons and when it flows it's a great adrenalin thrill.

I dislike that it often gets so uneven in Sirens. It seems to me that some people like nothing better than being on the winning side , ganging up on the sparse opposition over and over again until they get tired of banging their head to the wall and go away. I personally have no interest partaking in PvP fights where the result is painfully clear in advance, whether I'm on winning or losing side. I'm talking about 6 on 1 kind of odds here.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating one-on-one in PvP zones. I like that someone else can swoop in whenever and completely turn the tide. I like swooping in and turning the tide myself. Just not interested in mindless slaughter.
  17. People always factor in containment and since that's 3x damage in PvP it has a huge effect on numbers. However without containment troller damage is pretty depressing and it's not exactly trivial to get containment in PvP. Doms at least do same amount of damage regardless if the target is soft controlled, hard controlled or not controlled at all.

I've yet to see convincing numbers where controllers pre epics consistently outdamage dominators. Not saying it's not the case but as far as I remember the only thread I've seen with actual numbers was much more in dominators' favour than I would have thought.

In my opinion dominators should outdamage controllers without question, though, but then I think some specific controller builds are grossly overpowered when it comes to damage, especially post-pets and post-epics. Doms are not the only AT they outdamage.

Yes, that makes 1.5 halves. This is made possible by Claws/SR being that awesome.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Right. Now I only worry that the buff in I7 will actually stealth nerf the fun.

Hey, I've been thinking about making a Claws/SR myself. Better hurry while it's still gimped right?

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's half the fun! Actually, half the fun is in being the only person left alive in the team engaged in battle, tanking Nightstar and wiping out her minions with only the Elude on your back and the purples in your tray (and then almost getting wiped out by a group of white Nemesis on the way to the next mission).

    [/ QUOTE ]

So is that all of the fun, or did you change your mind about it and there's another half of the fun still unrevealed?

I ask because I need to make an informed decision about this.
  20. Hey Kin, IMO that's just not true about Doms. They're not that hard to solo even on low levels, just very slow and end heavy so it feels painful. But definitely safe. I think the main frustration about doms is the huge aggro they draw and the low survivability they have on sub-par teams. The fact is that if control is insufficient or fails they tend to be pretty much out of luck because the damage is insufficient to wipe out the threats fast enough. In a team wipe the dom tends to faceplant first. When CoV first came out I was in lots of PUGs with my ice dom, everybody was unfamiliar with the ATs and the new enemies, teams were large and fighting +2/+3 at low levels and I had generally a pretty miserable time. On the other hand, I always felt my presence made a huge difference to the survivability of others, so in a way it was satisfying.

Also, in my experience Domination is much harder to build in a large team. When soloing I can get Domination bar up loads of times in a single mission, in fact I generally fill the bar before the ability recharges.

The larger the team, the harder it gets as I have less time to blast, the rest of the team takes targets out fast and there are often bigger gaps between fights.

I would suggest never turning Integration off at all, with quick recovery and/or stamina there is no real need, it doesn't drain too much, and the mez protection alone is worth keeping on for all mobs.
Mine gets put on when I log in, and then forgotten about.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, Integration is like a permanent part of my costume. Thankfully it doesn't seem to suffer from the toggle drop on zoning bug either, for some reason.

I think you might like a corruptor with a good debuff secondary. /Cold or /Dark or something.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really, as I was thinking something like an Ice/Energy/Fire Corr with Kin.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For team support on CoV? I wouldn't. I love Kinetics, it's a great set and awesome support for brutes in particular. And of course it's an awesome combo with a blast set (but energy? Ew with the knockback and kinetics. And Fire/Kin is extremely squishy and basically needs at least as much support as it gives.)

But is it really what teams on CoV need the most in general? Kinetics makes you do more damage and storm through missions like nothing else, but it has very little in form of defense. The way I see it, everyone on CoV has damage. What they lack is mitigation so I would say that defensive buffs and debuffs are really the way to go if you want to build a support toon.
  23. Judging by what you say about defenders and blasters I think you might not like a dominator that much. They have a weakish assault secondary where the best attacks are melee attacks. And you should really use the secondary a lot to achieve the 90 seconds of uberness that is Domination.

That said I have two dominators and the AT appeals to me a lot. They're like rabid controllers and very unforgiving of any errors by the player or the team. Squishy aggro magnets in a game where it sometimes seems that nobody wants to take aggro. Support toons in a game where everyone else has a damage primary. And VERY binary in that a fight that is trivial with Domination up can be impossible when it's down. But they will be getting a mystery buff in I7 and when Domination is up they feel like gods. If you want to go for a dom, I think Plant, Mind and Ice are the best team sets. My Plant seems a bit stronger than my Ice, but it has also had the benefit of better teams at low levels, and I suppose I'm a better dominator myself after taking one to 40 with no prior control experience.

I think you might like a corruptor with a good debuff secondary. /Cold or /Dark or something.

PS. I think aldwych might have something to say about the Finland part, him being from Netherlands, the land of dead. (Holland is the place with wooden shoes and windmills, Netherlands has the restless dead.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not to mention the fact that Finland has some other fine people as well. People with extremely fine tails!
  25. Congratulations Syn!

Hey, I've been thinking about making a Claws/SR myself. Better hurry while it's still gimped right?
