  1. As long as I've had it anyway. The DoT isn't that minimal either, I think it's 30% or so of extra damage.
  2. Nice idea! I'm always up for taking on Lusca and more events on Union would be terrific.

I'll be there if I'm home. Living in a cold country means need to take advantage of the summer while it's here so prioritizing stuff other than gaming at the moment. However, I'm not on holiday then and sunday and monday evenings are generally a good time to catch me ingame

    Fun at last!

Yay Wammy! Glad you're enjoying your dominator. I think that's the way to go with them - controlling enemies and then tickling them to death (well not really, not finding the damage that bad anymore after I got the last ST attacks.) Anyway I tend to build my doms balanced or even secondary heavy too.
  4. Er, well.. I've had problems getting into playing the blaster again since abandoning it sometime before I6. I don't think it's because of the build, though. It does pretty well endurancewise and as long as I pay attention to the blue bar and use Power Sink regularly, I never really run out. Funnily enough, what I miss most is Health and to some extent Hurdle.

I can't remember if this is the exact build I went for but it's something in the ballpark.
  5. Right, here's the build up to level 40. I'll swap some damage/recharge for endrdx if needed but so far (at level 15) endurance is really pretty good as long as I don't try to solo or fight with Sprint on. That's why I feel reasonably confident to push Stamina to 22 and get Glacial Armor earlier.

Slotting was a bit of a pain as I had plenty of slots in the late teens and way too little in the 20s.

Any comments? I'm a bit unsure about slotting for Energy Absorption. I guess Hibernate doesn't really need slots?

    A Spad for I7

More a question that a suggestion, but I was intrigued to see you're taking fighting pool. Wouldn't Medicine be a better choice since it wouldn't be damage type specific so you'd get some help against fire, psi and toxic as well?
  8. I might not be able to make it today as my ADSL suddenly stopped working this morning. I'm going to try a borrowed ADSL modem to see if that helps, but in all likelihood I'm going to have to wait for the tech to come check it out tomorrow or (knowing them probably) Monday. It looks like they may have installed something else in the building and messed my line up.
  9. Idris

    So...

The resistance isn't stupid, the resistance is completely irrelevant since it's negated by the HP loss.

It's not a huge nerf but it might be the last draw that will make me drop MoG from my build (since AVs were what I primarily used it for anyway).
  10. Build Up it is. I'm actually relieved as I feel it's less fun a power than the others, must have been stuck in Blaster mentality that Build Up was essential.

Nothing else I have is even remotely skippable, Ice seems very power hungry. In theory I could take SS as my travel power and save a power choice but anyone who has teamed with any of my melee characters knows I need my Combat Jumping.
  11. Idris

    So...

MoG suffered a bit from defence changes

  14. I'm trying to figure out a build for my Ice/Fire tanker and no matter what I do, I'm one power choice short pre level 40. So what do I drop?

    Icicles
    Build Up
    Hasten
    Incinerate
    Greater Fire Sword

I think it's going to be either Icicles or one of the ST attacks. I'm tempted to drop a ST attack as I really like the look of Icicles and it's an AoE geared build, but what do you think? It's my first tanker so I'm not quite sure what kind of ST damage output I should be expecting. Dropping GIS or Incinerate would leave me with just two ST attacks.

I'd probably pick up whatever I left out sometime in the 40s.
  15. Idris

    Fire secondary.

I think it's the lack of single target big hitters, lack of control and the abundance of PBAoE moves that can get you squished in a team without good aggro control. It's the standard blaster problem of having the damage but not being able to use it, only worse. Putting two pbAoE auras there in addition to the 4 other pbAoEs seems needlessly cruel.

    [ QUOTE ]

With regards to the tohitbuffs, I don't know the exact mechanics but I do know that while FA can be used in PvE and accuracies dropped from attacks, in the testing I've done of PvE, 3 slotted FA does not even come close to replicating 2 ACC's in all attacks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So this was PvE testing or was that a typo? It makes a big difference if the base to hit is 0.50 or 0.75. To hit buffs perform better against accuracy enhancements as base tohit gets lower. The same happens in PvE when fighting higher level enemies. One doesn't consistently outperform the other, it depends on variety of things.
    [ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
Also there are no accuracy debuffs, only tohit debuffs

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think thats what you've highlighted there Idris. I can't recall it as it was while ago but there was a post where ACC was praised over tohitbuffs in PvP purely for this reason.

Relying on FA will see you suffer from debuffs more than if you relied just on ACC as they're where the debuff is applied. Again, iu'm not saying this with 100% certainty until I can find the post with it all explained in and lik to it.

Edit: Second thoughts, think I can't find it as it was on US forum not here. May take me a while to find it on there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not what I've highlighted at all. My point was, if the tohit part of the equation gets close to the tohit floor, accuracy will be poor no matter what enhancements in the power. Say you slot 3 ACC SOs, giving you nearly 100% accuracy bonus (I can never remember the ED percentages). If the tohit part of the equation is floored, you will have around 10% chance to hit the enemy, which seems pretty poor considering the investment.

25% did seem pretty high so I did some digging on US forums for the real base value of FA. It's 18.5% as confirmed to devs, so about 28% 3-slotted. Scrapper Tactics is about 11% 3-slotted.

Let's take some examples. A Katana scrapper gets hit by a hefty 50% tohit debuff while fighting a squishy with no defence.

    1) 2 ACC SOs

    (0.50-0.50)*(1.05*1.66)

ToHit part is floored so well effectively get 0.05*1.05*1.66= 0.088

    2) FA, 1 ACC SO

    (0.50 + 0.28 - 0.50)* (1.05*1.33)= 0.39

    3) FA, Tactics

    (0.50 + 0.28 + 0.11 - 0.50)* 1.05= 0.41

Now, if the same scrapper under same debuff attacks someone with a high defence instead, the accuracy SOs do in fact perform better because the tohit gets floored regardless of FA and Tactics. However the net to hit will never be higher than around 10%, unless the power has a very high inherent accuracy bonus.

How let's have the scrapper attack a squishy who has no defense and no tohit debuffs whatsoever.

    1) 2 ACC SOs

    0.50 * 1.05 * 1.66 = 0.87

    2) 1 ACC SO, FA

    (0.50 + 0.28)* (1.05*1.33)= 1.09 -> 0.95

    3) Tactics, FA

    (0.50 + 0.11 + 0.28) * 1.05 = 0.9345

A combination of both is the best here, but Tactics + FA still wins 2 ACCs. FA alone would lose to ACCs, though.

This is taken from Arcana's guide to defence on US forums. I've never seen anyone contradict the net tohit formula yet, but I guess it's not gospel. It's also as always possible that I've completely misunderstood something, in which case I hope some kind soul will set me right
  17. Yes, built-in end recovery matches the cost of the toggle, you get extra by slotting it but still not near Stamina levels.
  18. Idris

    PvP Scrapper

Er, why do you say that SoTW is useless while Flashing Steel is a part of the regular attack chain. Flashing Steel seems clearly inferior choice for PvP as it costs more, recharges slower and does less damage. Its only advantage is that it's a cone, but how much of an advantage is a melee cone in PvP?

Also, what you're saying about ACC enhancements vs tohit buffs seems very weird. I'm not sure about the exact value of the tohit buff FA has, my planner says 25% base so 39% slotted. If that's the correct value, it's a huge buff and much superior to an ACC SO. Tohit buffs are calculated before defence, accuracy enhancements after. It's probably a good idea to have both, but loading 3 ACC SOs in your attacks helps very little if defence floors your tohit. Base to hit in PvP is so low that tohit buffs tend to perform much better. Try to calculate accuracy for a few example scenarios and you'll see it. The formula is:

    (base tohit + tohit buffs - defence) * ( base accuracy * (1+enhancements)

So for example a Katana scrapper with 3-slotted FA hitting someone with 40% defence in PvP with an attack that has 1 ACC SO:

    (0.50 + 0.39 - 0.40 )* (1.05*1.33)

Also there are no accuracy debuffs, only tohit debuffs. Again, you need tohit buffs to hit despite of these.
  19. I don't see how you'd need Stamina that early. QR is plenty good enough to last until 30s. I'd keep Hurdle in for Sirens but delay Health and Stamina, and get IH and TLD earlier instead. Definitely IH as it rocks in Sirens. Also, I know it's a respec build and all but what's Integration doing that late? You never know when you need to exemp and there seems to be no reason to delay it.

If I did a full PvP build for Idris, I think I'd consider Laser Beam Eyes. It's just so annoying when someone escapes with a sliver of health. Then again, everything you have looks useful so I don't know what I'd drop.
  20. But Hurdle also has a vertical speed component and CJ doesn't. I'd put the slots in Hurdle or divide them.

For zonal PVP it might be fun to have after the hospital changes in I7, but its not necessary in theory.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd agree if it wasn't Regen but by the time he gets out of the hospital he'll be at full health and end again anyway
  22. Some ideas besides the ones already expressed, I agree Hasten is definitely worth it, Inferno doesn't need Acc and Nefarious manages to run low on endurance even with 3-slotted Speed Boost. You can add them if needed and respec them out after you get Transference, though.

Keep Fire Breath but put a Range enhancement into it. Without the range it's a bit meh but with it it's suddenly awesome. I think you could get it in the 20s, though, and get Stamina two levels earlier. By that time you'll be really hurting for endurance. Some damage slots in Fire Blast could also be worth it. Personally I didn't take Blazing Bolt, it's a good snipe but I don't feel snipes really fit /Kinetics. The 4 attacks I have are plenty enough because my recharge rate is so good with Hasten and stacked Siphon Speed, and Kinetics can keep you really busy.

I don't have ID yet but might pick it up in the 40s, the brute won't need it but it's nice to have if you team a lot with other squishies. If you get Hasten you can also drop some recharges from the secondary. I have 3 accs in Transfusion and I'm always glad of it when fighting CoT.
  23. Team with controllers, stick close to them and voila, you have mez protection. All human peacebringers are made to shine in teams. If you are playing one only solo, you shouldn't really judge. That's like saying Empathy is a useless powerset.
