  1. I'm sorry but using an alternate service is kind of avoiding the whole issue. As I said we texted and that was fine, but I feel like not being able to send tells can drive new players away.

In MMORPGs, one of the things that keeps things so fresh is teaming with new people. In COH people make a very big deal about "no blind invites" so most people send a tell asking if you want to team before inviting you. This leads to trial accounts not really teaming unless they accidentally get a blind invite from someone who is apparently a jerk for even sending a blind invite.
  2. I would also greatly support that. I was also thinking possibly letting them send tells to global friends. Since you gotta accept a global friend they obviously wanna talk to you.
  3. Hey guys, question's in the subject line. I'm just asking because this honestly seems like trial accounts being able to send tells would help them get into the game and possibly pay for it.

I first noticed the obscene amount of chat restrictions on trial accounts when I made one a while ago. I was thinking about coming back and just wanted to see what was different. I got a tell asking if I'd like to join a group and when I tried to respond was told that that's not allowed. So after pouting at my computer for a couple minutes at a missed oppurtunity I decided to broadcast that I'm available for a group, but that wasn't allowed either.

Now I'm trying to get one of my friends into the game. First thing I did was gfriend him so he could ask me questions later. Later I log onto my higher level guy to put the smack down on some rikti and I send him a tell to see how he's doing. Couple minutes later I get a text message on my phone asking why he's not allowed to talk in the game.

I can understand some restrictions on trial accounts but the chat restrictions just seem extremely unneeded and like they're just gonna drive people away from the game.
  4. My guy's a DM/shield so when I use Siphon Life I like to imagine my guy saying
"Look at my shield! Look AT IT!"
    haha.

I don't know if anything will beat saying "This is not the stalker you're looking for" while using placate on an enemy. That's a personal favorite

    Thor

You know, I've never heard the suggestion of auras on weapons before but I would also greatly like it.

I dunno about having all weapons available for every weapons set. Personally I'm a big fan of purely cosmetic changes (I don't want my katana to actually do fire damage but I want a sword made of fire), but I feel like it would be harder than just swapping pictures.

For instance what if a katana scrapper wanted to use an axe? Would he weild it with two hands when the axes are made to be weilded with one hand?

But it sure would be nice if they could give us more options for some of the weapon sets like you said. If shield can get a shield made out of fire or ice and have it not affect their powers then I don't see why the other weapon sets can't get a little love too. And mace has so many weapons, many of which I'd call a club really so I don't see why sword sets can't also get something that's not a sword but still makes since for the powers being used.
  6. Yea I ment midnight grasp haha. I agree with the siphon life comment. Always a fun power to use to kill someone off.
  7. So When you use Midnight Grasp as a killing blow and the Tentacles don't appear, I always feel like some kinda Jedi Knight.

I just stick my hand out and my enemy crumples before me. It's become one of my favorite things to do lately. Anyone else get this feeling or is it just me?

Now if only I could get a beam sword in addition my life would be complete.

    Channels to join

Hey guys. I was wondering if there's a well used AE story arc swap channel.

I'm looking for a place to go that has other people who want to play story driven arcs and want their arcs played so we can swap and then rate each others fairly.

If this or any other particularly useful channel exists on freedom please tell me.
  9. Haha he's level 5. I'm not gonna really start putting time into him till my scrapper dings 50 and he's got 10 more levels to go so it'll be a while. I'm really just kinda planning out what I'm gonna do right now.

As of now I'm gonna take the ice arrow soon and then just respec outta it If I ever get to the point where I feel I don't need it anymore.
  10. OK thanks. looks like I'll be skipping Poison Gas Arrow and taking ice arrow, and then possibly skipping glue arrow after I've played around with it and figured out whether or not I find it useful enough and if I think I need something else more.
  11. I'm toying with the idea of skipping ice arrow on my fire/TA. Right now I'm trying to identify any powers that may be skippable in either set so if you have an idea on another power feel free to spit it out.

My argument for skipping ice arrow...I still have char and flashfire for holding most mobs. With a little slotting char will be perfectly good for holding bosses with.

Argument for taking ice arrow...real easy and quick way to hold bosses. More control for if I feel a need to hold more mobs.

Right now I'm seeing the crucial powers from /TA as poison gas arrow, the two -res arrows, and oil slick. Then slightly less important, glue arrow and EMP arrow. Should I reorganize how I think about the set?

    Thanks for any help

probably the most skippable now that anyone with three identical insps can make their own awakens)

Huh? What's this? I've never heard of anything like this

    Re-Rolling

Water spout is like tornado. If you have a way of eliminating the knock back it can do good damage. Otherwise it will mostly just knock enemies around and chase them down.

Personally I liked it. I used it kind of like another placate on bosses. Used waterspout, let them get tossed around until I was rehidden and the AS'ed them again. If you don't wanna do that tho then you'll just find it to be a very aggravating power.

And since they speed up the assorted TA animations I haven't had a problem of 'dying while animating.' (Which was my complaint about the set some time back.)

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ah they sped up the animations then? That makes since cause I thought web arrow felt quicker. I was around when TA first came out and the main reason I never used it was just that it felt so darn slow.

I agree with Luminara on everything except the won't be killing things fast part.

Take ring of fire. Slot it for damage.

    Slot Char for damage.

Take Hot feet and slot it for accuracy and endurance reduction first then add damage and some slow in when you can. (Frakenslotting from slow sets works quite well for this).

Slot Fire cages for accuracy, end reduction and recharge. Immob duration isn't needed.

Slot Flashfires for Accuracy, Stun duration and Recharge.

Take Bonfire and use it as an attack. Fire cages gives -KB to the mobs for 10 seconds. As long as you refresh it every 10 seconds Bonfire won't throw the mobs aross the map. If you refresh it every 5 seconds only the mobs that you miss twice in a row will go sailing out of Bonfire.

If you want an idea of how well and how fast fire can do this even prior to imps check the photos in This Post .

That's a fire/storm but /TA gets disruption arrow which means that you wind up doing all most as much damage all most as fast. You are much safer as the defense provided by stacking Smoke and Flash Arrow reduces incoming damage and helps to prevent mez (which detoggles Hot Feet) by making more of them miss.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the responses guys. Yea I knew about the -knockback (I had an ice/storm and used tornado as an attack because of the -knockback and loved it).

Looks like I'll take both flash arrow and smoke and I can't wait to destroy mobs.
  16. Hey all, I'm starting up a fire/TA troller. I wanted something that would be very usefull to teams and still able to hold it's own soloing which I think this will do. I have one main question:

Should I bother taking both smoke and flash arrow? Would the -to hits stack and if so would it actually be worth it? In my opinion, I think I'll be killing a lotta stuff so fast it won't matter much. Maybe on teams?

Also, what's this new overpower thing? I took a break for about a year or two and last I knew there was containment. Is overpower a crit for the hold/immob or is it simply in place of saying containment?

Any other suggestions people might have about this particular match up would be nice. This is my first time using both fire and TA so feel free to comment on anything you want.

    Thanks All!
  17. I had a PB a while ago and I enjoyed him greatly. My impression has always been this, PBs are somewhat better for the people who want to solo because they are consistent in how much damage they'll do and how their powers will perform.

Based on what people have said WSs are much more fun because of more unique powers that are much more dynamic. Also, WSs can put out much more damage and such while on teams so It sounds like they're more fun on teams.

It actually works pretty well. Go into a mission, get a huge mob around you, activate mudpots. Take a nap. And then when you come back, everything is dead.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Haha this reminds me of a stone/stone tanker I rolled a long time ago when mobs could get inside of each other and if you hearded you could hit multiple mobs with single target attacks.

My guy never made it to the higher levels but I used to take a group around a corner, put on mud pots and rooted, hit 5 guys at the same time with stone fist and then come back in a couple minutes to my xp.

I was never saying that Stone is incredibly underpowered or anything. I just have been noticing a trend with the powersets devs have been releasing of them making powersets able to do several little things instead of how a lot of the powersets were at release being increadibly good at one thing.
  19. Hey, so I was thinking the other day and it seems like stone is almost pointless nowadays besides for pure cosmetics of the set.

With new sets these days like shield and WP, players can get good roundabout defense. Stone gives good defense with a little defense but it also greatly decreases the players speed (last I knew, this mighta changed).

In my mind the only redeeming factor is the granite armor. So I'm just wondering, is there something that I'm forgetting about stone that makes it really good or is it really just that stone defense is getting left in the dust by new and better sets?
  20. Ah I never thought it seemed quite like double. Still, 1.5X is a heck of a lot faster than 2X once you hit 32
  21. I noticed the other day that killed enemies in AE don't count towards double XP that the character's built up. I was wondering if this will ever get changed or if they intentionally did it this way and why they might of done it.

I honestly don't see any thing that could point to getting the double xp that you earned in these custom missions that could be potentionally game breaking.
  22. Is there any way to spawn only the boss by himself? For my mission that I created I want the last guy to spawn by himself because it makes more sense storyline wise.

The problem is: he doesn't have any other minions for me to have spawn with him, If I spawn him with another group as minions it doesn't make sense, and if I spawn him with his own group then two bosses spawn!

If worse comes to worse it would make sense for me to just spawn him with really easy servant minions.

By the way, the arc is "The Paladin Unchained" arc id: 47285. If you don't have anything to do then I'd appreciate some feedback on how to improve the arc.

    Thanks for all the help
  23. I find you can usually tell when it's just a farm mission from the description. Or If the introduction dialogue from the contact is really short then it's prob just a farm. I'll typically drop these if the mobs aren't fun or just boring.

To self promote real quick. I recently wrote an arc titled "The Paladin Unchained," it's more storyline oriented so you might like it.
