I'm looking at the login screen (Can't connect to the login servers yet). I am shivering with antici....
...pation. -
It is interesting, my old main is retired, even his costumes are mostly just clothes, with a hazardous environment suit for space travel, and just one actual super hero costume. I even changed his name.
He's just done and in retired-hero/Welcome to Tranquility mode. -
I just made an FF/Sonic Blast defender, took him through the old tutorial and funneled him into galaxy. Had a chat with Rachel Torres and smacked down some Vahz 'till he reached level 4. T
I parked him next to BAB as the sun set with Galaxy Girl's stature set above us. (Why yes, I have screenshots and even featuring "The Way We Were" [at least in my head])
RP wise, he has personal force field, I think he should at least be able to survive when the destruction begins. -
Any character that I had that was not a villain or a Praetorian started in Galaxy. It was nice and quiet and especially in those first few months around launch I could run around and get the first few kinks out without worrying about excess chatter and the competition for free range mobs.
It will be missed. I am almost sad that I never rolled a warshade and leveled through the Galaxy contact...but I just can't get beyond the soul melding cthuloidness. -
Mine mine mine! Nom nom nom!!!
-
Holy hell...my preconceptions, they burn.
Must, level faster! -
-
My current main was midwifed into herodom by Galaxy City...he's going to die defending her and (via server transfer and rerolling) rise from the ashes reborn as a new AT. (Which will cannibalize his off server "corpse" for goodies as he re-levels up.)

Let's see, my statement was:
Quote:My oldest character is a Mind/Rad Controller and he's been 42 for five years. I hate Mind, it's so...crap.
I am happy for said Dominator though, and hopefully it is wearing a Jean Grey inspired costume. -
Hrm...I would have to say Masterminds in my "Hate" category.
In my "don't like but I really really want to" category are Defenders.
I only have one defender that made it beyond the 30's and he's my sole, remaining first year Winter Lord baby and I feel nerd-bound to not let him go. He's also the only electric blast character I've gotten above the late 20's, so there more motivation. Corruptors really threw me off my "lets try to make a defender work" bit. I have a traps defender in the early 20's but he's just tedious to play.
However, a Green Lantern themed Force Field/Beam Rifle or Force Field/Fire defender may get me over the hump. Otherwise, I'll have to go with a Beam Rifle/Sonic Corr.
Hated power: Mind Control
My oldest character is a Mind/Rad Controller and he's been 42 for five years. I hate Mind, it's so...crap.
Especially after my Boy!Fortunata made 50. The Fortunata hit all of my buttons for a CoX toon with FABULOUS PSIONIC POWUH!!! It did such a complete job, I didn't even roll a psi blaster when that power proliferated. So Mind stands as the set whose theme appeals to me, but whose reality just repels me.
Edit: On and until recently I haven't been a fan of Tanks, but something changed last year: Kinetic Melee. Now I am "tank fevered" with a Dark Armor/KM tank at 50 and an Invulnerability/KM at 46. That's just how much I love KM...but with the rise of the Claws/Regen Brute, I am afraid I must cheat on them. -
Volcanoes scare the piss out of me. Especially super volcanoes.
Reading this, just kind of ruined me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toba_catastrophe_theory -
Brutes are the current object of my obsession, but I also like tanks.
It isn't available yet, but I am most looking forward to playing a claws/regen brute.
My favorite powerets are Claws and Kinetic Melee, with Claws edging KM only because of Focus and Shockwave. -
I'm rerolling my namesake: Hqnk. He's a claws/regen scrapper, but he SO should be a claws/regen brute. (Tank would be better, but I'll take what I can get.)
I'm not deleting the 50 scrapper, but I'll just exile it to a holding server and bring him back as Hqnk's rival. -
Superman was nerfed heavily after Crisis on Infinite Earths. He's been getting steadily powered up, but nowhere near Superboy Prime (aka Pre Crisis where he could toss around planets) levels. The last time he really moved a planet by himself was in Our World At War when he took an extended dip in the sun.
Now in NuDc's Action, he's starting off more nerfed, which Morrison is on record stating. Where he is by the time NuJLA/Starts starts is up in the air. Maybe he actually needs kryptonian armor to be truly invulnerable in NuDC. -
Force Field/Fire Defender: YES!
Claws/Regen Brute? :FAINT:
Dark Blaster/Dark Manipulation:OUBLE FAINT:
I'm in for the long long haul. -
I would name it:
"Praetoria"
Or
"Enricheville" -
I've experienced this bug many many times. And I'm stuck in it again!
And the GM's are SLOW as molasses on a cold tin roof. -
Quote:Actually I would include Namor because he's a flying brick and the Eternal Gilgamesh.Erm... my main point is that Marvel has had a lot of incredibly powerful flying brick combo platter power characters that wear capes and tights. (Which is pretty much all Superman and the Sentry have in common. They're both CPP flying bricks in capes and tights.) I wasn't listing characters by power level or anything. And if you start including characters like Surfer, you can add in guys like Namor, Juggernaut and a myriad of others too.
OOOH!!!!!
According to the old OHOTMU, the Eternals all had full psionic control over their bodies. They weren't indestructable but were hard to kill and could kill fast. That sounds one of the more "super" extremes of a Willpower set.
Alright time to make a new tank. -
Quote:But none of them, Blue Marvel aside because he's a Sentry-Like retro addition, were Superman. They all had limites welllll below Supes, until power creep set in in the late 90's. Especially in Hyperion's case. Gladiator was "close" in that his strength could fluctuate into the Shift-Xish range. Thor, Beta Ray bill were Class 100. Hyperion pre power creep was in the 75 ton range. The Thing was stronger then he was.I disagree. Considering, as you said, Thor and Gladiator, and then Sentry, Hyperion (in his umpteen incarnations), Beta Ray Bill, Blue Marvel, and I'm sure a bunch of guys I'm forgetting Marvel has more than enough Superman expy's and has had them for a while.
As for Batman, I can only think of Moon Knight off hand, but I know there's other Batman homages too.
Now Hulk strongest there is with his "Keep going up as long as I'm pissed" strength.
The closest thing at least through the 80's and 90's that Marvel had to a "Superman Class" reoccurring character was the Silver Surfer. -
-
Strongly disliked the comic. The movie was more palatable because it was much shorter. I strongly dislike Superman messiah stories and All Star Superman is one of the worst offenders.

I've gotten a tank to 50 since the alpha slot opened and a bunch people I know have started new toons and are playing them in small groups. There were a lot of lowbies in play during the Sister Psyche WTF and I'm thinking something similar will happen when one of the Incarnate TF's or Lady Grey isn't the WTF.
