  1. Yes, this is the "let's get Lalane" mission.

Ok, could everyone intending to come please PM me the following details.

    Character(s) you're bringing.

Powers and "level" (Including details of any flange being used to raise it)

    Greatest Desire

    Greatest Fear

Do you know about Hikari/Minako, how do you feel about each "half" of her personality?

Other stuff you think I might find "interesting"

This will be dark, this will be nasty, the only promise I make is not to permenantly kill any character without prior consent. I will stipulate that all players are over 18, although I don't think that really applies to anyone intending to come.

    You have been warned....
  2. IC this is going to be happening Tuesday, OOC it will happen either Monday or Wednesday evening, over IRC (I'd prefer Monday but I know it's short notice for everyone)

If peeps want to be involved can they PM me either on the boards or in game and I'll apply the magic fudge stick to get everyone there...
  3. As Z says, this is a hypercaffeinated productions MS paint special... I would have *killed* for anything that could handle objects by the end of this.

We needed at least 2 more days than we used really, since we did paper storyboards, screenshots for the real storyboards and then dialogue, and we had to do some cutting in between the paper and screenshot versions. I spotted at least one error before we sent off the final version, but fixing it would have been near impossible since we'd have to completely redo the entire page.

We didn't repeat many emotes, it was mostly set the emote running and then screencapture as fast as you could hit the button, and pick the best one. The positions of Min and the teacher mesh so well because...they're two different merged shots.

The hardest bit was probably the oranbega sceenes... we just couldn't get the victim to die at the right angle! We ended up doing this with a sup invis/recall friend tp'ing her onto the spot, turning the toon so the angle was right and then waiting for something to notice and kill her.

The rest was all done using 3 accounts, two live and a camera, and blending the scenes together... if you look really closely at the teacher in the classroom scene, you can just about spot where the camera moved slightly before we took the shot
  4. This one suited the anthology title so well we couldn't actually think of another title for it.

Special thanks go to Ravenswing, Gideon and Doctor Temporis, all of whom made this caffeine fueled production possible at all.

a zip file can be found here and I can link the individual pages if people really want....

    Functional bases

Since you take nothing with you, even if you want to "split" with a fairly tight 8 man team, you then have to face the prospect of at least a month and probably a lot more with no working base facilities.

For new players, they will want to join a large, established SG simply bacause the intrastructure will already be in place, when you're on your first free month you want to try as much as possible, not be told "in 3 months time"

For players who start alting, they face a grueling slog raising the prestige a second time, or using up a valuble alt slot within the SG they've already established and contributed a lot to.

I can see this schisiming into a lot of SuperSG's who won't accept anyone who alts and expect very very rigid rules to be adhered to, a few very very tight SG's which are entirely populated by a handful of players and all their alts, effectively closing them off to new players, and a lot of disgruntled "have-nots" who don't belong to either a clique SG or a SSG and hence can't even use the PvE functions of the base never mind the PvP game simply because it will take them so long to raise the funds.

For small groups of friends, this isn't too bad. They'll form the clique type of SG and if you're fairly committed to the game you'll have your base long before you have a 50, and then all your alts benefit from the PvP if you want it, it's the fairly casual players that will suffer.

    Functional bases

I think you've missed the point slightly.

Small supergroups cannot physically raise the starting funds to setup a base.

The maximum boosted prestige is 300,000. The minimum needed to build a PvP capable base is in excess of 1.2 Million (1.2 million will buy the minimum PvE functionality, but is still 2 rooms short of being PvP enabled, needing a vault and 1 more room of choice)

That "missing" prestige has to be raised by the group members, and current good estimates is about 1k/hour (that's normal mission running in a team)

say 1.5Mil (low actually, probably closer to 2mil) 1200 man hours to earn enough for the base. assuming you have 10 very dedicated players who are doing _nothing_ but earning prestige and are playing 5 hours a day (these are not casual gamers) then it's going to take 24 days to get your base up and running.

Then you have to earn your IoP and be prepared to start accepting raids, knowing that some of your very expensive items are targetable, you have no static defenses, just the members who are online...

For a casual SG of friends you might have 8 players tops (because more and people get left out of SG teams which leads to division and splitting) playing for 15 hours/week each. This group will need 10 weeks, or more than 3 months, to earn enough prestige to get a base.

The football team allegory is valid, but the super SG's are the premier league clubs, and the best of the rest are the office 5-a-side teams - they might be good but they can't even play.
  7. Catch up on levels, or on hours, I think we're trailling on both.....

Happy days, especially the reactor with Sara and Mag going head-to-head in the "Proximity bomb chicken" contests... I suppose you _can_ let someone snipe them, but that wouldn't be fun...right?
  8. 1122 hours?...that's quite a target for us to match

Congratulations to the four of you! I only wish I'd have more time to see you in action more often (what do you mean, there's a whole world away from the statue? )

I'll never forget the first (actually quite possibly the only ) time I teamed with Jest, and the joint GoD/Cirque TV respec was great fun.
  9. And salvage, don't forget your salvage. While we don't know exactly how much salvage will be needed, it will almost certainly be a lot and of a certain type to do anything.

Your salvage is yours, until you choose to give it to a SG, and will stay with you even if you up and change. It's only items you've donated you'll lose.

    Deleting Bases?

If you don't pay the rent all that will happen is your non-existant Power and Control rooms will stop working. It will still be accessible, any decorations you have placed will be in exactly the same place.

If you decide in a couple of months you _do_ want to use the base, you'll just have to pay the most recent rent payment, they don't build up over time.
  11. Information gathering that I hope will be some use to looking at whether base costs are out of proportion, how many alts, active primary players and secondary players does your SG have.

A primary player is someone who spends the greater proportion of their gaming time on an alt within the SG, a secondary player is someone who spends the bulk of their time on an alt that isn't part of the SG, but does occasionally play the alt in the SG.

    Guardians of Destiny
    Number of members: 15
    Number of primary players: 5
    Number of secondary players: 2

Seems a really useful adition to the game to be enjoyed by all, and that is all that I am complaining against. A massive base with teleporters and medical centers are not what I am asking for, just someway of being able to use this salvage and enhance my game experience.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If all you want is the ability to do something with your salvage and maybe a pretty room this becomes a lot more affordable. The quoted 1.2 Million is for teleporters and infirmaries as well.

The only thing I'm not certain on is if you can use auxilliary power items without having main items. If you can then the cost is about 455K - 300K of that can come from alt padding, and our SG (7 players - 5 primries, 2 other secondary alts) has earned about 100K since I6 went live (just over in fact) without particularly heavy play (most of us have been playing CoV and RPing too!)

If you can't place auxillaries then the cost jumps to 750K

450K to find. 1K an hour is about right for casual playing, so assuming your playing on average 2 hours a day and have 5 people, 45 days.

Organise a couple of weekend massive SG events (we often do TF's/storyarcs at the weekend) and 1 5 hour session with 5 people will net you 25K, so for "heavy casual gamers" (a could of hours a night and more on weekends, assuming 20 hours/week in total) you get 100k a week, or the base in about a month.

Remember that alts under 35 earn both prestige and inf (and while the inf is lower, the prestige is the same, our current biggest earner is getting both) so if you're really stuck sign all your alts into the SG, play in pure SG mode and bankroll them with your higher levels to make up for the inf loss.

For an utterly unfunctional pretty place, you can build a 3 room apartment in the emtry room with the 20K given to starting SG's with 1 player. You just have to remember to move the entry portal to 1 edge of the room.

The prestige earning rate is taken from the rates we've been earning at over the last few days in CoH and CoV, it seems to be somewhere between 1000 and 1500 (team of 6, heroic dificulty missions)

Higer difficulty levels may well give a prestige boost to the end of mission lump sum, can anyone confirm?
  14. Does it count if it's within a hour in completely the wrong direction?

Me and Doc definately won't be comming for both days, but we're close enough that we could make a day trip for one of the days...

No tickets yet, neither of us is amazing comic fans (in the "we enjoy them and love CoH, but two days at a con is stretching it" sense) so we'll see who's going before making final plans...after all, entrance tickets can be bought on the door, it's hotels that are hard.

    Functional bases

We've been doing the calculations for our (fairly small) SG.

A fully functioning base (power, control, teleporter, infirmary, 2 workshops) is about 1.2 mill prestige (this isn't a PvP raidable base, but has enough room even on the smallest base plot to add the remaining missing rooms so long as they're 2x2 and the vault.)

pad the SG with alts/friends to 15 - 300k pres, 900k still to find.

1 hour missioning with the SG nets 1-1.5k prestige (normal instanced missions, team of 6, all SG members)

900 man hours to build a base.

We have 6 active SG members playing for an average of 2 hours a night (this is low, since RP and CoV eats into our time)

It's going to take us 75 days (or 3-4 months) to build a PvE functioning base (pessimistic estimate using 1000/hour). This is the bare minimum functional base.

For a "normal" SG - 15 members all active primary alts, again assuming 2 hours playtime a night it takes 30 days, about a month. Whether this actually _is_ a normal size for a SG I don't know, most of even the "big" SG's that are full list 10-20 primary players and are then alt padded.

If you have a "full" 75 man SG, all unique players and averaging 2 hours a night it drops to 6 days for minimal functionality. This size of group pulling in abour 150k a day.

A dedicated gamer clan like they have in the US could be pulling in 250K a day (assumes about 30 players playing 8 hours) and I have the horrible feeling it was these guys they had in mind when they set the costs...
  16. Hard to think of an IC justification - IC we're in the States where they don't celebrate it. We can't "do" fireworks in game, and not else happens other than standing around fires (we could move to steel I suppose)

To be honest, what's the difference between a party at the statue and a normal night, especially if you're not drinking IC?

    Christmas on the other hand...

    Hugely bugged.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No change there then.

I mean, the SG system is currently a walking disaster.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hush, close your eyes and think of pale sandy beaches with clear blue seas, fish darting amoung the coral reefs just below the waterline.

Now, back on topic for the halloween party! What are you doing with Anna's costume?
  18. Awwww! Kawaii! I wanna see!

Stupid work computers that I can't play CoH on....
  19. I've seen the blast leggings, and as I said, haven't added CoV in yet...
  20. Not a clue birdy, I know it's proportional to the value of the base and then 1-3% on banked prestige.

I _think_ that if you have only decorative items you can still use the base if you're in arrears on the rent, it only stops the power and control from working.
  21. Yay!

*Goes off to play with the shiney and dream of the day she might have enough prestige to afford more than a shoebox.*
  22. Not got CoV linked and I've noticed some changes, most noticably that the schoolgirl scarves have gone walkies...

Must go post a bugrep about that :P

$64,000 question - Is the baroque top available for heroes if you have both?
  23. Control 2 costs 150K and is a 4X1 rather than a 2x2 room. If you run it along the edge of the plot there's just enough room left in the centre for a studio hub room.

Actually, depending if you are allowed to touch corners, there's enough room left for either a 3x1 or a 4x1 on the plot, although I'm not sure what rooms come in 3x1...
  24. I don't think Hiki's violates any copyright laws...

Public decency laws maybe, but not copyright laws...
  25. If you're a lvl 1 alt, does it matter?
