  1. Towering Inferno/Burning Building/Firetrap.

This could somehow be linked with the Hellions firebomb attacks in Steel Canyon.

Inside the building you have several people trapped a the end of the corridor behind a wall of fire you can put out with a fire extinguisher. Free the people from the firetraps and lead them to safety.

    That is all.
  2. I'm not 100% certain what Teeheehee is saying, so I'll address the myriad ideas which he brings up:

I think Teeheehee is wrong about landscape variety and here is why. Please allow me to rearrange your post:

    [ QUOTE ]
How many extravigant or vibrant landscapes do we have like that in Cox, not many i believe...

The vast jungles of the nerva archepelago
    the thick forests of croatoa
    the towering cliffs of cimerora
the towering buildings of steel canyon.
    the shadow shard,
    the abyss
    pocket D
    Ouroboros

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's naming but a few. THere are an enormous number of landscapes in CoX... in fact, I'd say it's one of CoX's strongest points.

Winter event zones = The massive frozen landscapes created by the silver surfer
Steel Canyon burning buildings, burning offices of the Hellions = the burning waerhouse in spiderman 2
Any of the many underpasses in zones such as Talos and Boomtown = the dark fast pased underpass in the dark knight
the lengthy deserts in the hulk - I'll give you this one, I've not played in a desert, but ... deserts are kinda dull...
Any cave with the Devouring Earth = the crystal cave in superman

SO, I would guess that you're talking from the perspective of a villain, perhaps? I am not qualified to say much about villainside (becuase I got bored with the dull landscape and solo-gameplay).

    [ QUOTE ]
Now i think that the general atmosphere of the CoX world is quite dull and 'grey' because there isn't too much excitement associated with city back ally's

    [/ QUOTE ]

Here you are getting to the point, I think. It's just groups of mobs hanging about waiting to be aggro'd (even if they ARE in the never-ending mugging animation). Sure, this is common to most MMORPG games, but it is an element of gameplay which could be changed for the better, come on! It's 2009!

When you take a look at the films you mention, the common element is that something is happening in those scenes - Something is happening in The Hulk's desert, something is happening in Spiderman's burning building.

Okay, so maybe what you're getting at is the fact that although you're in the exotic looking Shadow Shard the mission maps are boring old council/crey bases and warehouses? I agree, this deservees a revamp and would make the gameplay much more interesting - I sign for more and varied mission maps, please.

Where the graphics are concerned: While I agree that the scenery in CoX is a bit duff, I'd also go on to say that we're talking about very old game graphics here. The buildings are blocky and angular, you can often see tiles when you're a long way off (though the trees and water have obviously been updated over time). Not only this, but I think that travel powers make/made it very difficult for the developers to create a mood. Flying/teleporting and superleaping high above the trees means that the moody atmosphere in Perez Park's wooded area is completely wasted, hardly experienced and usually teleported past.

In World of Warcraft (I know, just bear with me), there were several memorable areas in the original game where you really identified with a mood. For example, when you are travelling through a forest inhabited by stealthed tigers and come across a pirate bay! Wow! It's exciting because it's interesting, there's a hint of danger and it's fun! In CoX, there are very few such special moments - you can always fly away and avoid coming this route in future. These are examples of the subtle touches which REALLY made WoW succeed in a way that no other game has.

Going off topic slightly, I get a sense that players want a move interesting environment: One where they can interact more with the scenery, perhaps they might click something and get a reaction - "Wow! I never expected that to happen! Hey guys, try doing this!" - that kind of thing. Anyway, I'm sure it will happen one day.

You know in Grandville with the big TV's on the walls and you can see Lord Recluse? I think he means using that technology but adding sound throughout the mission. So you could stop and watch the TV's or just skip right on by.

While he mocks you mercilessly from afar! Muhaahah, you'll never stop him this time!

I've currently got a "Barbarian" Axe/Will brute running around at L40. It's been great fun and the knockdown has been good mitigation. I've not tried Mace

    This is my experience.

I just wish they'd give us more realistic armour! -rage- It looks horrible! Those helmets are nothing short of abominable, and don't get me going on the armour...

Merits shared per account are a nice idea... But unless they fix problem with villains getting less merits, that won't happen, or if it will... Well, we have enough "devs hate villains" sentiments already.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Solution: share merits per side. Red/Blue.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Which will probably lead to even less villain content being done as all the villains run TF's on their heroes.
It is already hard enough to get a team villain side without making them play heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So they should be doing hero side content to pimp their villains? I don't think NCNC would approve, but that's just my guess.

(I suppose there should be an exchange rate between red and blue side for those doing trading of inf across, because it certainly isn't 1:1).
  7. All the metaophors have been taken waaaah! There's no more words! EEEK!
  8. Hero2

    Badge Explosion!

How about giving us a badge "KABOOM" effect, a bit like the level ding, but obviously a lot less impressive?

I think badges are something to celebrate!

  10. The temp powers are a good concept but all too brief. The badges are a bit of fun though.

    Ghosting.

    NEWSFLASH: Repetitive Missions are Boring.

Ghosting boring content is to attain an objective is perfectly understantable. The solution is to make content interesting, varied and FUN, not to prevent people from ghosting.

Maybe even, heaven forbid, CoT style robes!

That's my prediction for the Magic powerpack they're working on.
  13. You can't seriously want a medieval zone? What is this? The Crystal Maze? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSX5UvyiJ5o

    farming

I was going to post another thread about farming, my question being:

Is farming looked down upon now, or is it just the state of the game?
  15. It's good for a first try. I didn't like the randomness of the whole thing, there's too much dancing and this means that it loses pace.

Other than that, it's not bad. The synching of emote and chatter is really good, and the audio levels are really nice.

Now if you could think of a plot...
  16. What does your enhancement screen look like? Stretched? Are the circles more like ovals?
  17. [ QUOTE ]
I was speaking with Samantha earlier. Apparently she's joined a gentlemens club for the aggresive over-60s. I asked her if she was afraid and she said she wasn't worried about knocking out old members

    [/ QUOTE ]

Samantha has to nip out now, as she's off to meet a gentleman friend who's helping her restore some old furniture. She's just purchased an antique chest of drawers which her friend says has suffered from having candles placed on it. Samantha says she's looking forward to stripping her new tall boy while he scrapes the varnish and wax off next to her
  18. Is there a way to stop the enhancement screen from stretching when using a widescreen resolution?

I wouldn't mind if it meant putting black bars at the sides of the screen and faking 4:3, but the stretching is horrible.
  19. To compliment the Re: 50+ mil, NO TY. http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....part=1&vc=1 thread I would like to post a link to the following US thread:

This topic has also made it over the Atlantic, and it was only yesterday that someone was asking whether they could trade Merits.

The subject came up in the 'random roll' thread and it seems worthy of its own topic.

As a marketeer, I love the idea- I see it as a solution to the current level-spread problems, and supply problems in general.

    Smurph is a powerful advocate.

    What's everybody think?

That's going back some. I deny knowledge of this quote - too late
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I want death traps. Heroes gather in a room, suddenly a cutscene on a monitor shows the villain taunting them as the doors close, and swarms of special tough mobs with nasty abilities enter through secret side passages.

Or the ceiling starts to descend and they have to destroy the door before it squishes them - hope you're not on a low DPS team.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Make a new thread, this is too good to waste as a mere comment.

Surely it's been suggested before, though?
  22. This is good. It's like that Recluse "video" (.gif?) in arachnos bases.
