When I get a get a badge. My characters should start singing and dance the badge celebration dance! Preferably so would those I am partying with. If that results in a team wipe, a small price to pay for this joyous moment.

I can see this for the accolades that do something to the character, but since a standard badge doesn't really do much there isn't a great deal of point putting work into this.

A possible reason could be to make the badge award event visible to other nearby players.

For an accolade sure.
For an everyday(read as exploration and most of the defeat badges) not so sure.

How about giving us a badge "KABOOM" effect, a bit like the level ding, but obviously a lot less impressive?
