  1. All they would have to do is give the user the options to limit email to:
    - Friends
    - Global Friends
    - SG Members
    - Alliance Members
A nice checkbox option beside each of these, and you have control over what you receive.

But I don't think it's going to happen. The spammers have to purchase an account which equals $$$ to the company.
  2. I added that to Jay's costume request thread a LONG time ago. Would be nice to see ... but I'm not holding my breath.
  3. /signed for this.

As for the other responses - no, I dont want to form a 1 man SG to do this. Tried it once & frankly the rooms are too massive - I'd like a regular apartment sized room(or rooms).

And what if you want your own personal space, and are already in a SG?
  4. How much does he do commissions for? His style would be awesome for my plant controller...
  5. This has been suggested ... a number of times. I'd personally prefer this to be the next power set, but they appear to be going with Pistols and Demon summoning.

From an evil farmer here. We would use spawn point placement to jam pack a map full of mobs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not if it was done intelligently by the Devs - i.e. a grid system of selectable spawn points for each map, combined with a max number of mobs per room/hallway/map.

    Hi,

I am struggling to find the best discussions on the ways we might extend or improve MA so that it works as a storytelling and RP mechanism. I know there has been a lot of discussion about farming, but it seems to me that AE is one of the best implemented features in CoH, but missing a few key features to make it actually work for the more story and socially inclined players.

Any suggestions for threads that I should check out?

    Cheers,

    Sib

    1. Spawn placement
    2. Map Editor - with full control of map layout, elevator placement, tilesets, object placement, lighting, etc.
    3. Increase the cap from 100k
    4. Increased text field size. Some are limited to either 300 or 1000 characters.
    5. Multiple contacts in an arc ( 2 per mission - for the intro and on exit )
    6. Selectable music ( mission intro, placeable on the map, on on mission exit )
    7. Allow creation of a bank type map where multiple missions can be spawned in sequence, while on the map.
    8. Branching missions - dependent on user actions

Simply put, the captives I placed don't run after being rescued. In other arcs I've played, the captive runs after being rescued. What am I doing wrong?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This doesn't work on outdoor maps. I bugged this some time ago, doesnt appear to be high on their priority list....
  9. Up to 60 ratings! I wish I had kept all of the feedback from the beginning, but here are the last few that have been left:

@<private>: Feedback on Architect Mission Tales of Croatoa: A Rose By Any Other Name....: That was a great story. I particularly liked Rose's dialogue. Aside from a couple of typos, my only criticism is that the final clue is a bit jarring. It seems like a lead-in to a sequel, but the story of Rose and her family is wrapped up. If you do want to allude to a sequel here, I'm not sure how best to do it. In any case, 5 stars. You might also enjoy my Croatoa arc, "The Love Talker," which will return when the Burning Forest map does. :-)

  10. Ok, just to drum up a little interest ( only 8 ratings so far ), here are a few screenies.

    You get to:
Rescue damsels in distress, fight cool pirates, fight uncool pirates, endure many incredibly bad jokes, and be a party pooper!

I can't edit How to Survive a Robot Uprising until they fix that stupid glitch where some of the mobs have a default text that's too long, though >.<

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, yes you can. make your other changes, then go into the NPC Description text fields that give that error, Blank them completely out so the errors no longer show; and hit republish. You'll need to re-blank them everytime you edit though, but it works for me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Put a "..." in there and you wont have to keep reblanking it.
  12. I could always use another play on Tales of Croatoa (178774 ).
  13. [ QUOTE ]
But when you actually get into the mission, your nav bar has several objectives that come out of nowhere. (in lots of rainbow colors too, a little bit overboard) It's hard to completely resolve this. My best working solution was to have a pop-up stating what you saw more or less when you come in. This might work here as I don't remember any pop-ups.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I believe I had a few humorous popups on most of the maps. The multicolor objectives were to help differentiate them from each other. I've played so many arcs where you have a long list of objectives, which tend to run together.

    [ QUOTE ]

The worst thing I have to mention here is the map choice. It has the dreaded layer cake room AND the weird twisty turny room that I always seem to have trouble finding the correct way though. The GM spawned on a ramp that I had the hardest time trying to find. Also, this was a problem in mission 4 as well with the big sprawling office map.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've tried quite a few different maps, and they almost always have the same issue with the car spawning in some odd corner. I'd say 50% of the time it spawns in a desirable location. If you know of a cave map with a large back room that is only one level, I'm all ears.

    [ QUOTE ]

Also, it's not really a bad thing, just an odd way that things turned out through no fault of the author, but in the mission sendoff text, it's all to the right of the picture of the chest except one lone word way off on its own just below the picture of the chest. Another odd list of objectives in multiple colors: "take out the trash", something about a barrel, rescue someone, and "mop up the floor" (only the ones in quotes are...uh... quotes). I never did figure out exactly what "mop up the floor" was.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've never seen the bug you mentioned, although I have seen the contact become invisible. May just be a random bug. To "Mop the Floor with someone" means to kick his/her butt. Pretty common expression... which I used in place of "Defeat All". I've yet to figure out why it seems to be including the glowies as part of the defeat all.

    [ QUOTE ]

Mission three comes and I'm in the burning Skulls building rescuing some hostages including Amanda Vines (though she was made more generic as just Amanda with a removed bio), some guy, and a foreign dignitary looking guy with a beret and a briefcase that would probably be familiar to other players, but not me. I also fight A pirate boss! Don't remember his name (I should probably take better notes) And finally there's a clue in an urn (which I probably shouldn't have drank first) which completes the mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Too bad you didnt mention the clues leading up to the hostage in the final mission ... oh well, I tried.

    [ QUOTE ]

Like I mentioned, I had a bit of trouble in this large and sprawling office map finding the last party and the last two bosses. But I had no problems with any of the mobs, even the mission where I was autosk'd up to 40. The humor was pretty constant throughout, though some were better than others. The pirates guarding the hostages use lame jokes, but that's also supposed to be part of the overall joke. But making a joke about a bad joke isn't much better than just the bad joke.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hmmm, I've never had any problems with the parties ... Horatio tends to hide in corners at times.
You didnt like the Pirate jokes? The point was that they were torturing the guests with bad jokes.

    [ QUOTE ]

Overall, I enjoyed it pretty well. The mobs were well chosen, most of the humor was quite enjoyable, and even searching over the big maps for the last objective wasn't too horrible.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Glad you enjoyed it and it wasn't too horrible.

    Mob = 1 enemy unit
Mobs or Spawn or Group = multiple enemy units
Critter = 1 Non-attacking/Non-attackable pet unit (i.e. a Kitty Cat that follows your toon around OR found wandering around a map )

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which, honestly, all sounds so non-intuative to someone who's never played an MMO before...even many people who have played a few before.

The only one of those that is correct usage in the English language, according to Merriam-Webster, is the "Spawn or Group". I can see why many people get confused, when in hectic situations.

I feel that this is a 'live and let live' situation.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Shrug. The new MMO player can either learn the terminology or you can confuse the existing player base. I think the former is preferable.
  15. I've already submitted a suggestion to have the ability to select mission difficulty within the AE building.

/signed for anything that adds to the time that I spend actually playing missions.

Lowdown – This arc is all around goodness! The customs were some of the best looking I have seen and it was a shame they did not have bios. The arc featured funny and clever writing (lol's at one of the first mish objectives). You felt engaged through out and the four mishes pasted quickly. A word of warning, I played on a scrapper and thought a few times I would have been in a world of hurt had I not been so tough.

Funny Level – Milk through the nostrils!

    Fun Level - Fun-tas-tic!

Let’s up it to 11! – The last map was a pain and I wasted several minutes searching for the last party to break up. Arr, where be the pirates bios?

Overall Rating – Despite a a few minor wrinkles that I am sure will be ironed out (I was only the second play on it) it is very fun and I would consider it a "must play" for those that love humor based arcs.

Cool. I fixed the two typos you pm'ed in game. Bios might be a bit problematic, i'm sitting somewhere over 99% - but I'll see what I can do. ( Had to scrap three of my custom faction earlier to fit in text - that was painful )

I've been through several maps for that final mission and this is the one that flowed the best and actually had the front and back positioning working for the AV and the hostage. If you have any suggestions...

I decided I wanted my favorite toon, Star Spangled Shield, commissioned and contacted PlayWorkArt. He did an awesome job. I love it.

This is a fun arc, but has a pretty serious bug that renders it unfinishable for heroes under level 40. Carnies won't spawn for heroes below level 40, even though they're marked as spawning much lower since they will spawn earlier for villains. I went through with a 34 scrapper and ground to a halt against the last mission for the handful of 40 Carnies inside. You should seriously consider removing them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm, I had exclusively played this with my level 50 toons. I had always assumed that a mob at too high a level simply wouldnt spawn. But you're correct, a level 30sh toon going against a 40 mob is a bit much.
I'll have to think about this one ... either restricting the level ranges with issue 15 or removing that faction.
  21. I have one mission where the final objective is to destroy an object. It would be nice to be able to set the number of hitpoints to a higher amount.

I have an ambush triggered off of this object, but it's usually destroyed before the ambush has time to get there.
  22. This one could probably fall under the category of creative contact.

Did you host some type of 'event' related to the arc? I didn't find anything about that, either.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've seen a number of arcs where they've had their banners posted. I assume they've extended this service to include MA promotion, even though that's not explicitly stated.

OK, that is kewl! How does promotion of an arc qualify as an event and how can I do something like this with my arcs?
