Very nicely done. Gives me something to think about, as to actually wanting Temperature Prot. or Rise of the Phoenix.

Your use of fonts appears somewhat inconsistent, unless it's intentional.

I typically sell crafted enhancements rather than recipes. This is because other characters typically craft their drops and share them through a SG base, and what's left over gets sold. It also allows me to accumulate inf on a single character, which puts higher priced things within reach than would be the case were the inf scattered over a variety of characters.

I agree: WP/Dark is one of the strongest combinations. Then again, Dark Melee makes any tank tougher regardless of primary, and is especially beneficial to defense sets because of its to hit debuff.

Some further tips would be to:
    • take taunt, and
    • pick a level 41 pool that gives you a variety of multi target attacks, even if they do little damage.
From a min/max point of view I think Earth Mastery works best; Salt Crystals and Quicksand are available straight up.

TIP: Slot SIPHON LIFE with 3 accuracy and 3 recharge.
2 recharge, 2 acc, and 2 heal would be my recommendation for a SO build. It does a fair amount of damage now, but slotting up heal means that it can restore up to 20% of your health, pretty handy for a tanker.
    Quote:
TIP2: Pick up SOUL DRAIN and 3 slot for accuracy and 3 slot
with recharge to keep your damage level up when soloing.
Soul Drain has a built in accuracy bonus, 90% opposed to 75% elsewhere, so you can free up a slot for elsewhere.

There are only a handful of powers I set up like this. A Brute, maybe: likely the auto attack will be Brawl. I used to auto attack Taunt on tankers, but seldom do now.

I set up Hasten on auto once I know it isn't going to cause endurance problems, for the characters that have it. When I tried a Kin, I set up Speed Boost on auto to simplify the delivery process, especially in teams where people tended to wander behind walls. That's about it, though.

    2. Delete one from the "published" side, and add one of my new ones.

    3. Unpublish one of the stories to promote a new one. All of my stories have been played 1-2 times, but that's it. If you unpublish, what are the consequences? Is the worst that happens is that I "lose my stars"? Or is there a major penalty for republishing the same story over and over?
As far as I know of, there is no penalty for unpublishing and republishing an arc, apart from losing the ratings, unless you unpublished it because it was banned.

You can buy up to five more story slots. I did. I typically have five or six "official" stories, a work in progress, and a more or less personal testing ground. Before more slots were made available, I routinely rotated stories.

Also, having bought them all long ago, I do not remember if this is one of the groups that needs to be unlocked with tickets. If it does, you will need to do that first before they will appear. If so, you need to do that at the ticket vendor upstairs.

You need to create an Ally mission event, and add Statesman as the Ally. He will be an ally even though he appears from a list of enemies. The default enemies will be surrounding him unless you set it to Single, but when the players defeat them States will follow them around and fight as a friendly. Any enemy can be made an ally by this event.

Beata Beatrix - SS/Inv Brute. My first brute, my first level 50 redside, and the founder and leader of my villain group. But she has mostly taken a back seat to

Anactoria - Dark Melee/WP Brute. This is my redside badging character, and the one that gets the most play. My second level 50 redside.

Ranavalona - Claws/WP brute. Probably going to wait until Going Rogue to finish levelling; right now she mostly takes a back seat to my Stalker (katana/WP) for redside play.

My comment on brute powers is a simple one. The primaries all have their interesting features and advantages. But I cannot imagine creating a brute with a secondary other than Willpower. More than any other AT, a Brute needs to never run low on endurance, and needs to keep going. Willpower's 2 potential endurance recovery powers put it head and shoulders above most other sets; only Electricity and maybe Fire come close, and they don't offer as much survivability IMO.

Yeah. I hadn't done much AE work since i16 hit, although I bought slots as well. But the most recent Dr. Aeon contest meshed perfectly well with an idea I had been kicking around for quite some time. The basic concept fit perfectly: Statesman has been captured by Hellions or Skulls or what have you.

I play AE missions regularly, and seek out things that look like they have some story to them, the more offbeat the better. The ticket system enhances my non-AE experience and makes life much easier.

And I agree with all that's been said. AE is still one of the gems of this game.

Some are more predictable than others. Dr. Vahzilok's and Infernal's map have very clearly defined back spawn points. Before that, all bets are off, but you know where anything set to spawn at the end will spawn.

If you can think of a reason to use Johnny Sonata's Hell, that's another one. I used that to set up a multi boss encounter where the player would have to be fairly careful about which spawn was being aggroed at a time.

The order things are added seems to be important as well. I always set the required encounters first, and then add details like side encounters and patrols.

    Taunt auras?

Do powers that have taunt components as player powers (Invincibility, Against All Odds, Rise to the Challenge) have any similar effect as custom critter powers?

Most standard enemies can be re-colored and all can be re-named. These enemies continue to give out the same XP and inf they do regularly. It is possible to create entire factions out of standard enemies from different standard factions.

It is also possible to create custom versions of standard mobs. If I use the Circle of Thorns from 13 to 40, I always use a custom version that removes the Spectres completely and cuts down the number of Fire, Earth, and Air Casters that appear in any given spawn. You can make Council or Fifth Columns without Marksmen, Galaxies, vampyres, or warwolves.

The only drawback is that the groups you create by selecting from several supplied sets will all be labelled as "Custom" in the generated summary.

So, if you want greener Circle of Thorns, you need not confine yourselves to the ones that appear green as supplied.

This is correct. You can softcap Shields with SOs if you take Maneuvers. Without it, there's about 5% per position that you need to make up with set bonuses, and that is fairly trivial to do. Ranged defense seems to be hardest generally.

  20. I didn't spend a great deal of inf on mine. I really only need Weave to cap against ranged defense, or when faced with serious debuffs. The only really out of this world expensive buttons on this are the one set of Obliteration, and the Miracle and Numina uniques, both of which were bought by saving merits.

The build performs quite adequately as a tank, but lacks the recharge that I put into my electric/shield tanker. This is my first shield tanker. The electric is the second, and the one that got the expensive stuff.

I haven't done a whole lot with canon characters in my arcs so far, either. A lot more of them come from the personal mythology of Heraclea's origin, or from forum memes, than from in game lore. I do use Doc Delilah in one, and a bunch of standard heroes in another as captives in need of rescue, and Chris Jenkins in one; but for the most part my critters are my own.

The lowbie arc I'm working on is somewhat more canon-driven (but hardly canon-based) than any I have made so far. A depowered Statesman is more or less the first McGuffin; he is victim and not the chief antagonist.

I always liked Superman. (Batman, on the other hand....) So it's surprising to me that I rather like the portrayal in at least some of the lore of our Batman analogue (Manticore) while the game's Superman analogue seems something of a schmuck. (On the other hand, Manticore comes off rather badly in "The Origin of Power".)
  22. Kinetics.

    I tried.

But even on a controller, if you are on a team you are "the kin". And I hate being "the kin". Being "the kin" is like being "the healer", only worse.

And Speed Boost is a teammate debuff with sugar coating. It can't really be that important where you are positioning mobs or where your PBAoEs go off, can it?
