You can buy up to five more story slots. I did. I typically have five or six "official" stories, a work in progress, and a more or less personal testing ground. Before more slots were made available, I routinely rotated stories.

I'm a new player that has (already) made three AE stories... and while they're hardly perfect, I'm quite proud of each of them.
