I am running 10.6.3 on a 2.4Ghz macbook (black) usually through a 19inch monitor. GMA X3100 graphics with maxed ram.
CoH has crashed my computer twice today. Not just the program, the whole computer just shut down without warning after about 5 minutes of gameplay. I had Enhanced GFX turned off - actually I had it set to minimal graphics as I always play. I have been working all day on the same set up (external monitor) and no issues with other programs.
Did i17 kill the GMA X3100 graphics set for macs?

I just wanted to start a thread about day jobs and which everyone feels is the most helpful or the reason they go for the ones they do. For myself, I always get a tinge of guilt if I am not logging off at some kind of DJ location so I have become pretty compulsive about it.
I tend to go for the Ally Rez accolade on most of my toons as it has come in helpful more than a few times even on my healers. That said, if I am slow leveling a character, I will go for the Wentworth's DJ just for the teleport ability before the Ouro badge comes at 25.

So what say you, CoX? Which day job is the best for you and why?

And has anyone transferred yet? I don't see anything different on the log on screen and it still says "buy" server transfer. Can someone clarify the process?

It's easy if you want it to be. I hit my first 50 and he is great - love to hit a fast ITF or run Hami's every once in a while and just blast away, but there is something lost when you are not just itching for that next level to get 3 more slots or one more power - hearing everyone on your team say "Grats!". Leveling is just plain cool and it's even better when you have a sense of the I/O sets that you can get. I am learning more from slotting my lvl 34 than from slotting my lvl 50 after he topped. I sure as hell am slotting all my melees for Kinetic Combat to get that extra def. and figuring out how many travel powers I can afford to 3-slot for BotZ. And the results are great! I can take on bigger groups and more purps than I ever thought I could.
I am rolling recipes at current level and putting what I can on the market just to keep the mid level I/O's in play and a chance to top out my 34 at 34. Not for PVP or for inf., just because in IMHO makes the game more fun.

What's the deal with the lack of mid level I/O's? And I'm talking blueside. I can barely squeak together a set of anything decent these days at lvl 35. And it's not because I am underbidding, looking at the sell dates on recipes and enhancements, only one comes up for sale per week. Postitron's, Numinia's, etc., - there is just nothing for sale until you get to 50. Maybe it's the deluge after AE, but there is a severe lack of them right now.

Is everyone hunting purps on their 50's after lvl'ing up on AE? I have really enjoyed playing my alt scrapper, but i/o's in the mid 30's would make the grind a lot easier to deal with. The only way I got a LotG +recharge is when I lucked out on a reward merit roll because there are none for sale at that level.

Hopefully this will change with the holiday event merit rolls that are sure to hit the market, but what does this say about the players in general? Is everyone simply playing their 50's these days?

Stockpiling of salvage has already begun! I have noticed a lot of major fluctuations with commons like iron and even circuit board topping 100K blueside.

Thanks for setting this up and count me in on the next one. Great example of how a well balanced team can kick it through the missions. Our team finished a bit later than Gen Gintoki's, but we didn't have any deaths either. Although I did get lost in those frickin' council maps a few times.

Had a great time with the Hami raid this past weekend. Thanks to Tammy and all the team leaders for keeping it all in line and very successful.
I will be farming bio-nukes for the next hami raid I can make, but I have a question. In warburg there are "biological mutagens" and "nuclear blasts", but nothing called a bio-nuke. Which one is everyone referring to?

I have a 50 Eng/Eng/Eng Blaster and he is my primary. I wouldn't call him a Blapper because the defense just isn't enough to hold multiple enemies at once, but I do rely on Total Focus and Bone Smasher as a finishing blow to Bosses - the stun is a powerful compliment to the knockback when soloing and he can hold his own for the most part.
I can solo most missions at +2 difficulty and my attack chain starts with torrent, exp. blast, then single target blasts or melee combos depending. Most mobs don't last long and I almost never need to drop Nova. The key is defense with Combat Jumping, Fighting, Energy Mastery and smart, albeit expensive i/o's: SM/L - 19.98, Melee - 17.48, Range - 22.48. There are builds that can get better, but they sacrifice too much playability imho.
A key to teaming is playing more the Blaster role and watching your KB. Explosive Blast is better than Energy Torrent (knockUP rather than KnockBACK) unless you have your Damage maxed and take out the minion groups with this combo or you just like pissing off Tanks.
Anyway, personally, I love this build and have a blast playing it. Pun intended.

Yeah, but when you have to tab through 49 goons to get to the one you want to target, it gets old really fast.

I sent this info in another thread, but thought I would re-post here. NC Soft asks for a whole bunch of sys info which is nice, but the only solution they offer to this issue is to modify a plist file that does nothing but turn your cursor to black and white with the same issues as before in my case. Please post here if you have different results.

Let's hope ASAP means before next weekend...
In the meantime, please keep posting, bugging, etc to keep the Devs aware that we are in need of some help here.

Running a Macbook Intel 2.4GHz with 4gb RAM, GMA X3100, 144mb VRAM on 10.6.1.
Same results after switching resolution. Mouse just does not like anything it can interact with, including salvage, but not recipes.
Contacted NC Soft support and they asked for a system profile file to examine the problem. Will post any results or workarounds.

As I have read in the recipes forum, this is what I understand Purple Drops to be:

Anything Lvl 47 or higher can drop a Purple. All enemies have the same drop rate, so it doesn't matter if it is a minion or boss or whatever.

Purples drop at about the rate of 1500-1. While there is some debate about the drop rate changing with overall recipes in i16, this is the established number previously.

That's about it. Basically, to get a Purple, you just need to start killing a LOT of things that are 47-above.

I appreciate all the numbers that everyone is running, but I can't help but notice that prices haven't changed much at WW in regards to top-notch recipes and there are a lot more purp recipes and enhancements on the market than there were a week ago.
I know at the outset this is because more people have stepped out of AE. I am also seeing a lot more instances of PI1 and PI2 like in the pre-AE days. Obviously, more purps and more recipes are getting out there because the number of players, not because the number of famers. Maybe, this nerf is more about the overall supply and less about the individual results.

Too many good general responses to this worded much better and with keener spite than what I could come up with. I just wanted to add a few thoughts:

First off, you bring up the "numbers game" that you don't want to get into. To state the obvious, this forum is about the market and inventions in the game. We LOVE numbers and LOVE the fact that the game gives us access towards including the numbers within our gameplay.
FAIL!!!! Post this gripe elsewhere unless you are looking for flames.

Second, you say that you have been in game for 5 years and only hit 2 purples. I have been in the game since the Mac edition, which is not even 9 months and have already purpled out my first 50. Let me say that again, I HAVE NO MORE ROOM FOR PURPLES IN MY BUILD. I have played nearly all the main content, I have also farmed, and I have played the market like a two-dollar ***** on a 50 cent alley, but I have gotten what I, personally, want out of the game while playing sparingly but with tons of focus.

Third, I know I said I wouldn't say this because others did, but I can't help it: There is no reason you need purples to enjoy this game. There are plenty of great I/O sets, Proc Enhancements, Accolade Powers, etc. to beef up your character without purples.

I would suggest that you check out the copious amount of information in this forum on on other websites to focus on what you want out of this game for your characters. You might find that it may not be to get purples at all. If it is, then I am here to tell you from experience that you can make that dream a reality in a very short amount of time.

I've found that my usual flipping of rare salvage has been cut since Dbl xp. The margins just aren't what they used to be. On the good side, it forced me to look through some low cost recipes, crafting and then making a killing on quite a few - 6-8X profit after crafting costs. There are some where I seem to be the only one crafting as for the last week, my enhancements are the only ones listed. Downside is that almost all my slots are constantly full as the turnaround is not as quick.
Hopefully today's downtime means that i16 is dropping as I write this. After everyone spends a few hours tweaking their power set colors they will be out there testing how their purple heals look and then drop some inf.

Someone has been having a lot of fun with Scientific Theory. The prices have ranged from 20K-700K for the last week. I supposed they are hoarding until there are only 12 left, then dumping after the prices skyrocket. I've tagged along and made out quite well, but the influence in nothing compared to seeing such an ebil marketing ploy in action.
As far as DXP, it really depends on whether it will apply to AE missions.

Just purchased the game after really enjoying the Mac Beta. Now, how do I transfer my characters that I used during the Mac Beta to the main servers?
