Salvage for 2xp weekend?

I'm thinking of branching my Ebil to Salvage in preperation for 2XP weekend. I plan on using tickets to make commons. What do the gurus think would be the best slavage lvl range to go for?

Rigth now mid-tier seems very good. That could change soon enough though.

Go for the white .... commons, right? The ones that you have to roll for and can't "buy" with tickets directly.

I believe history has shown all of us incapable of properly predicting the "right" things to gamble on for 2XP week-ends. On the other hand, I don't think any gambles have failed for ebil gamers on 2XP week-end, just failed to be as good as some others.

Someone has been having a lot of fun with Scientific Theory. The prices have ranged from 20K-700K for the last week. I supposed they are hoarding until there are only 12 left, then dumping after the prices skyrocket. I've tagged along and made out quite well, but the influence in nothing compared to seeing such an ebil marketing ploy in action.
As far as DXP, it really depends on whether it will apply to AE missions.

I guess I can gamble and not really be out anything (other than a chance for an UBER recipe) if I roll for salvages and start stock piling for 2xp weekend. Still curious about how others think the decent commons (i.e. Bronze recipes, DW Thunderstrikes, and Crushings) are going to go.....

Yeah, I saw Sci-Theory going for that much and I just walked over to AE and rolled up 4 out of 15 rolls. 120 tickets saved me quite a bit of inf. I keep wondering when people are going to realize that they don't have to pay these ridiculous sums for common salvage...

That being said, it ain't gonna be by DXP weekend! I'm gonna make a KILLING on common salvage by just rolling em at AE and posting em at Wents, rinse repeat. That's my big prediction. I've already been stocking up on commons purchased on the cheap during mid-week lull.

based mostly on storage capacity, 100 IOs in a bin Vs. 30 salvage. I tend to craft to IO store and sell as slots allow. now I am wondering if just rolling 80 commons in AE and listing what I get would be more profit.

Depends how you're looking at your profit. Inf per ticket? Inf per slot? Inf per hour?

Personally, I'm expecting inf per slot and per ticket to be lower than rolling bronzes. However I expect a lot of turnover, which should push inf per hour thru the roof compared to bronze rolls. Even if inf per hour averages out to about the same, the amount of work involved in rolling common salvage vs crapping IO's is significantly less.

Regenerating Flesh and Nevermelting Ice have been big winners in previous 2XP weekends, but I think it is the item that no-one thinks to stock that usually runs out. Your best bet is dig up an unplayed toon and to list one stack of each salvage type at a ludicrous price.

IIRC, the shortages happen after 2XP when everyone takes a break from doing content and slots up their toon at whatever post-2XP level they are at.

So if my memory is correct, a good trading strategy is as follows:
1) Craft and list mid-level generic IOs at exhorbitant prices during 2XP, particularly acc, dam, rech, endmod (People don't want to waste 2XP time, so they will slot the bare minimum and will pay "buy it nao" prices)

2) Buy up cheap salvage and recipes during 2XP (people don't want to waste 2XP time, so they will dump everything on the market for 1 inf)

3) Immediately after 2XP, guess what the shortages will be and list a few stacks at ridiculous prices (e.g. 10 tech commons at 1M each). These are a trap for scrub marketeers that will try to "control supply" by buying out all of the stock of one item.

4) Watch the salvage market after 2XP and wait for shortages. Insta-sell the cheap salvage you stockpiled in step 2 into any shortages that develop. They key to fat profit here is volume, not sky-high prices.

5) Craft the cheap Set IO recipes you picked up in step 2 and list them for sale during the weekend after 2XP weekend.

6) Salvage shortages will also happen on the weekend after double XP weekend. Your experience at step 4 should reveal what items to flip.

7) This is a guess - there will be a lot of respeccing the weekend after 2XP weekend, since people would be hastily picking powers during 2XP, so it may be a good time to pick up crafted IOs on the cheap. Particularly generic Acc and Dam IOs IMHO.

Some of this advice is from memory, some is guesswork based on experience, so other forumites might like to comment.

CoT has most of it. Don't forget to stock pile respec recipes as hasty slotting and power picks during 2XP will require respecing after. Respec recipes are worth more after 2XP. Its a good item to flip.
