Nope they are just getting ready to ban all of us
for being better at farming than them

Just to list the issues I have with the MA -
1. Limited publishing slots. Have to throw away ratings, stars, etc. to publish.
2. Ratings system: Too volatile and open to griefing.
3. Small file size. Not that I want a ton more, but 100k is just a little too restrictive. I'd get along find with about twice that.
4. Limits on objective types (can't lead hostage to WP, can't set a specific boss w/a specific onjective) and bugs (Hostages changing groups, Boss animations not working)
5. Removal of mobs unique maps from the system with no timeline for replacing them (and at least in the case of maps, no announcement that they were even removed).
6. Signal to noise ratio. Trying to get something played a lot without a large SG or Voting Cartel is like winning the lottery.
All in all, the MA is an interesting idea, but with the limits on the system, I'm not sure if it's worth the time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then by all means, stop using it - it's not a game requirement, it's a game option for you to use, or not use as you see fit.

I thought he had very good constructive criticism of the MA he did not bash everything he listed things he disagreed with I did not see him bashing the Devs or anything I thought it was more of I think they should look at this. -

There's been countless farming threads, and I've stayed out of it until now. Let me just say this:
I don't care what other people do as long as it doesn't hurt my ability to enjoy the game. That is, let them farm, just don't hinder my gameplay. However, the farming HAS hindered my gameplay. Since the MA went live, I've been unable to get a team for anything except MA farms. I've been trying to get teams for my trio of new characters (L1-10), but it has been completely impossible. The only missions are farms.
Now, even this I would have no real trouble with, except that there's NOTHING to them. They can't put even a LITTLE thought and story into it? I mean, the point of playing is to have fun, not to grind xp (or let others do it for you).
I suppose from some perspective, doing sewer runs doesn't have any more story to it, but there is still a goal in mind - usually to reach King's Row via the sewers. The farms don't have even this little.
[/ QUOTE ]
That is funny I have found more teams for non farming the last few weeks than I have in the last 3 months.
In fact I had more request to pad in the last 3 months than I did team invites.
Maybe you are not looking properly or not in global channels I am not sure but I have had more teams available. I seen less ITF's the last couple weeks but then again 99% of the ITF's where speed ITF's to farm merits -

actually, it may be... positron still hasn't defined 'egregious'
[/ QUOTE ]
His exact words were
"Players that have abused the reward system egregiously may lose benefits they have gained - leading up to and perhaps including losing access to the characters power-leveled in this fashion."
He never said farming a lot will get you banned. He said abusing powerlevelling tactics excessively will get you in trouble.

What is that threshold I mean it comes off to me as nothing more than a scare tatic it been happening since day one when people use to farm Werewolves with blasters and hover because they had no range attack so they hover above killing Wolves.
Winterlords; Family Maps; Derek Map I mean the list keeps going from there; lets not forget street sweeping and sitting in the tram for xp. The MA was not even as bad as the old people going afk with footstomp on near a portal racking up xp for hours while watching movies. That is why you no longer get XP from mobs coming from portals it was nerfed do to farmers. (I mean there is even more if you want to cover some of those)
Funny how no one was ever threatened with bands for doing the same thing in the past.
They know they can not fix the bugs or make enough changes fast enough to keep up so they are resorting to scare tactics (imo)
Just keep playing and do not worry about it. -

Oh! Just got done with my first successful run with an easier minion group and nets more xp.
Thanks Posi!

Really? So this new nerf was nerfed cancelling out the nerf to create a better MA with even more XP's? YAY for nerf nerfs..!
[/ QUOTE ]
Still making tweaks. Should be finalized soon.
However, since the ban hammer and report happy people are so abundant i'll just unpublish the arc while i'm offline and only publish it when I want to farm.
Genius!
[/ QUOTE ]
I said that was the way to go and what farmers would do. I did it day one on a mission in case people cried about it I just unpublished it each time I was done using it.
Farming is still easy in AE you can still build mobs that are easier for your toon to fight and harvest it just is not as fast as it use to be but still not going anywhere -

My account is prepaid until November. Enough said.

I can say I have had more fun in the last few weeks than in the last 3 months in this game.
I even had time yesterday and was able to run a TF as well as it is been easier to get groups even non farming ones people wanting a team to help run their arcs.
I done that a couple times and had fun doing it -
[ QUOTE ]
MA was not intended to be only a story tool. It was also intended to be possible to level from 1-50 using the Architect. If they removed XP, then that would be impossible. People making farm missions are getting those missions squashed in short order. If you get enough missions squashed, you lose your Architect priveleges. In relatively short order, enough farmers are going to be banned from the system that they will gravitate back to PI and GV. The only farmers left in AE will be the smart ones who don't spam broadcast, and don't advertise that their arc is a farm.
[ QUOTE ]
It is rather easy as a farmer not to get you mission squashed it is quite simple. When you are ready to farm you publish your story run it and before you log unpublished the arc
They are not going to go away they will just be hidden and out of site. -
How about this for cruel take a large defeat all map custom make every mob with endurance drains + sappers and anything else that sucks endurance set up glowies and and in a couple elite EB or AV's with short circuit and power sink
I mean just lay on the -end on every mob
I mean people just love fighting all that -end mobs -
I used the word Farming on purpose as a joke I used a croata map since it best simulates a real farm.
I created a custom group and there are not enough mobs to be a real farming mission
I mean a lot of the toons of plant; ice, storm some sonic etc
I mean corn on the cob; winter wheat; Farmers Wife harvester with a shovel winter storm
I knew it get banded by name alone
I always fine it funny that people ban things or report it without ever playing it -
I mean i know mine was for name alone and who ever reported it did not play the short mission it is a joke
Yes I did it to see if people where stupid enough to do that without playing it haha
Just curios where you tell why it was band
No I am not upset I find it quite funny -
[ QUOTE ]
Okay, I saw a post about it in the MiA forum down there *points*, and it was complaining about the crazyness of it all.
Arc name: Who Cares 2
I can't give an ID because, apparently, people keep reporting it as a "farm" - I had a chat with the arc ownerHowever, as far as farms go, I'd love to see what people use to farm that mission
So that you have an idea of what to expect:
http://www.walkiry.com/CoH/Freak%20Madness/index.html
That's what the final room looks like when SOLO - granted, on difficulty 4, but still... I should put together a team of scrappers to dive in sometime.
It took me half an hour of solid scrapperlocking to clear that thing, and I got hammered pretty badly regularly when the smashers would stack enough stons to temporarily supress my toggles (the indignity, I had to use six inspirations!). It was glorious! And something I'm sure some fellow scrappers will want to try too
[/ QUOTE ]
Another question why are people so concerned about people farmingit is wasted energy they are not going way just let them be
-
Man now I have to dig for the darn thing I want to see my dm/sr get hammered
I need to really IO out my katana/sr and try him sometime but my merit farmer is not quite up to level yet -
Since it all depends on your build and what you need like a dm/sr has a different criteria than maybe a dm/reg and so forth so it all depends on what you are looking for from your IO sets and do you want more damage maybe you do not have all the global +acc etc :]
So here are a few
Say you need more healing than damage
Nictus-Heal
Nictus-Heal/HP/Regen/Rchg
Nictus-Acc/Heal
Mako-Acc/Dmg
Mako-Dmg/Rchg
Mako-Dmg/EndRdx
53%acc
78.5%dam
26.5end
91.7heal
58%rech
Global
1.87%HP
9%Acc
Imob res3.3%
1.5%HP
I mean the options are crazy on what you can do with this power and make it work
-
I went 3 HO's acc dam
1 golgi and 2 heal IO's that gave me end boost one heal and a heal/rech I am running a dm/sr so I get a 20% quickness boost -

If the new design philosophy is that you have to run TF's in order to get even the moderate level of rewards that I do today - then I'm going to be on the outside looking in.
Run flashbacks. The payouts aren't as good as TFs in terms of merit/unit time, but they don't suffer from diminishing returns either.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd be fine with that - so long as I am still able to team to do this. I am a bit concerned that the fact that only the arc holder gets the reward will make it harder to construct teams for this kind of play. I do not play this game to solo, so if that's what I have to do to support my IO habbit, then I'll probably be unhappy.
Look, I get it, you HATE the market. It's not like I'm its biggest fan, but here's the thing - if you have some patience it can be a way to convert INF (something I can get) into Recipes (some of which I never get). I'm a casual player in terms of playtime. I play at most 8 hours per week (and usually a lot less). I play in sessions that average an hour in length (typically in lieu of some TV after the kids are put to bed). My richest toon is a lvl 50 villain who has about 40Mil on him.
Yet... I still am able to make use of set IOs and have a lot of fun with them. I go after the low to mid cost items (I cringe if I have to pay more than 2mil for something) and am somewhat creative with them. It is one of the few remaining reasons that I play the game (going on 4 years now and I've pretty much worn the non-TF content to death). Although it is far from perfect, the current system is working for me and I'd prefer if they didn't mess it up. If merits turn out to be purely additive, then great. If not, I hope they do something to adjust things.
[/ QUOTE ]
Flashbacks are treated like Task/Strike Forces - everyone gets the reward.
[/ QUOTE ]
You realize that a few Arcs can get you merits within the same 1 merit to 5 minutes return in the Arcs I completed one on test in 4 minutes and some give 5 merits and can be done in 25 minutes or less time frame all solo. Grouping will slow you return rate down so I think you will see a lot of solo Orbous runs for Merits to maximize there return -
[ QUOTE ]
Seriously You think 120 million inf is absurd compared to running 5 positrons ?
Yes. Easily. Positron is not hard with the right group construction (i.e., small).
[/ QUOTE ]
I run TF's rarely I am not a casual but I am not a power gamer either I kind of fall in between in the middle of those.
The reason i run few TF's comes down to time and when I play mainly off hours I rarely stay logged on for more than 2 hours sometimes I log in for 15 minutes yep a door mission and log type stuff all I have.
So with the current changes I should never team again with my lvl 50 unless I do a tf. Because it is a better return for me to run one or 2 orbous over and over again because I can get there times dowm to 3-10 minutes ranges and just power cycle through them every time I log on. Just take the same toon and grind it out over and over if I team it slows me down.
I run with a lot of pugs as it is how does this help the game. I think the system discourage teaming and will cause issues
That is my humble opinion on where this will be going. -
[ QUOTE ]
Where is that list of "nerfs" vs "buffs" that shows there has been a *lot* more buffing over the past few issues?
I know someone made one somewhere...but I can't remember for the life of me where it is. And searching for nerf will likely result in a few thousand DOOOOOM posts.
Anyone else remember this post and where it actually is?
[/ QUOTE ]
Some of those buffs where two years after the fact when they got over nerfed years ago
Then again you have to been around for those days to know that -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I'd echo the concern about a majority of 'fast TFs' being run by the same groups of players repeatedly and often, rather than by everyone and at the same intervals. This is especially true because average players who are likely to generate average times will play less, and do taskforces much less often, than 'powergamer' type players.
Ie, if average people do perhaps one regular-speed TF X per week, a farmer or power-gamer who does three 'fast' TF Xes per day, everyday (by alternating characters), will generate twenty fast "time samples" to the average person's one normal time sample. How will this be dealt with and accounted for, especially in a manner that will be fair to average players and in light of the fact that the optimal-reward oriented TF players will simply move on to the next piece of optimal content if their current content is made unoptimal?
At what point, basically, will 'adjustments' based on relatively small numbers of people running the content quickly, stop?
Additionally - villains need more SFs. Really, I expect it's going to be ridiculous how much easier getting merits will be for heroes as compared to villains.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is my concern there is a reason I have done more Katie TFS and Respec TFS than most the others ones. It is time factor I rarely get to play more than 2 hours at a time. In fact alot of my toons where grinded out levels at 30 minute intervals.
I do run large task forces when I can that averages out to about 1 every 2 months heck I only average about 2 -3 katies a month and they are Super Fast
I run Lady Grey Statesman; synapse a couple times I done the Rikti Task Force a few times.
It is not that I do not like the content it is hard for me to have 4-6 hours to play a TF
I hate running Orbus but that looks like the way I will have to go just grind out Orbous missions over and over and over again -
[ QUOTE ]
A boost of up to 1/3 more players is still a boost. Just because it might not hit imaginary "good" numbers to you, it's still *excellent* boosting. COV underperforms *to you*. Not to the investors, sorry. Seeing as how the games, I dunno, still being played? And supported? Guess again. ED was no deal *whatsoever*. I was in beta, been there, done that. I thought it was a fantastic idea. And frankly: I don't know where your numbers are coming from, but you only know raw numbers, and not "numbers left because of X or Y." Your supposition is just that, not fact.
Every single game on the market - and I'm not including the obvious exception because it's so out of the realm of reality that it's not worth comparing to - takes dips constantly. This game has been consistant, and every issue brings BACK players who have otherwise decided "I must go!" Not too many games do that - none, that I know of, really. This is the game that players come BACK to. Read up on some of the 'I'm back!' threads to see that much. This is just the top of the heap, in the forums. I've run into plenty of people in game who have come back, after a long absence, and asked what's going on with the new stuff.
They are impressed as most of us are, with the things that the FREEMY FIFTEEN have done. Why not take your head from your nethers, and admit they've done a fine job? I mean.... that IS what the thread's supposed to be about, not more venting about very, very old news.

due to the high volume of bad word of mouth this game got from ED that statesman cut the staff is no surprise at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
lol - make up more stuff please, you're good.
* No word of mouth existed about ED: COV launched to huge results, and everyone who started the game at that point *never knew the difference* because COV *included it to begin with*. No one who owned only COV at the start had a CLUE why there was any issue with slotting. it's a perfectly good change, that some people (ie: map-hoarding tankers) didn't like. Get over it. It's old news.
And: Statesman didn't cut the budget. Others did. Read up on the history before you start making stuff up dude.
None of this is a surprise? Really? Because it seems to me that like the rest of us, YOU are also still here, PLAYING the game. A GREAT game at that. ED and all.
They've done a huge amount of work, essentially on a shoestring, for so long. They deserve all the kudos they can get.
[/ QUOTE ]
Please when cov released they did not even bring there subs up to 200k which they broke in COH it gave them about 70k boost in subs. Please I was on the board when ED was leaked during COV closed Beta. Three months after COV released they lost a 1/3 of the subs they added and by 6 months they lost half of the subs and it is kind of plateau on a steady stream of about 130-150k subs.
Yes I know how many subs they had at every 3 month mark because I read all the investor reports over the last several years. COV underperformed from what they expected it to do. -

Overshadowed by Villain-player 'outrage' about Rockjaw's comments was a very important piece of info that came out of the Omega Sektor event. As previously stated by Jack Emmert and commented on recently by War Witch, 2006 saw the CoH/V team cut by 75% / from a team of about 60 to a team of about 15. It provides some insight into why David 'Zeb' Cook left, why Emmert stepped off the project and why content releases slowed in 2006.
More interesting was the fact that War Witch was the only person who did zone creation during that time. It seems increasingly likely that Castle was the only person working on power systems, BAB was leading probably only one or two people in looking after animations (he'd need someone else to hold the camera while he swung his sword around - bow wow chicka chicka bow wow! ;-), SexyJay probably had costume design all to himself or as part of a small art team (two or three people).
We're aware of Ghost Widow as a programmer and there are probably a few more, but not a huge number (so perhaps 5). Positron would have needed to be a man of many skills (deck of many things?) to help guide things forward and to pick up the slack where it appeared.
(I'm sure I'm forgetting some people, but I think pohsyb came back to CoH/V when it was bought by NCsoft, so he wasn't on that list.)
So: 15 people. Enough to keep the game going but certainly not sizeable to enough to release huge content releases for free every 4 months. The fact that they recovered to release 3 very good issues in 2007 is testament to the work ethic of the team.
Having seen a number of "WY ISN"T THIS BUGZ FIXXED???" threads appear recently, here's your answer: 15 people.
My thanks to those 15, both known and unknown to the forum community. It was appreciated.
[/ QUOTE ]
I just now saw this thread none of this surprises me. After COV sales under performed due to the high volume of bad word of mouth this game got from ED that statesman cut the staff is no surprise at all. ED should have happened before COV most felt it was brought on by PVP right or wrong that perception caused so major flak. That and Statesman poor handling and backtracking he did on the subject -

It seems typical of the forums of late. Devs say were getting 20 powersets ported over, and people cannot seem to find the good in this. The list gets announced and the first 30 posts all seem to be "OMG DEV HATEZ VLZ< I GONNA CRI NOW!"
*sigh*
I don't think they could have released a list of sets that would have made the community happy.

Ice armor or regen for my brute would have made me happy.
Broadsword for a brute would have made me happy.
Empathy for corrupters would have made me happy.
Kinetics for MMs would have made me happy.
Illusion for Doms would have made me happy.
Giving scrappers energy aura would have made me happy.
Giving tankers energy aura would have made me happy.
(why should villains be stuck with the ultimate in craptastic)
Giving thermal and cold secondaries to heroes, who will use the buffs to MORE effect than us to start with, and then will be able to powerboost them on top of it....that is guaranteed to make people angry.
Giving scrappers fire/fire so they can Fiery Embrace+BU+Greater firesword crit +dots = 1 shot kill. let alone however many other attacks they can get off in that time period......sorry, not going to make villains happy.
Heroes recieved very very GOOD powersets, while villains recieved garbage in return (with a POSSIBLE exception of storm secondary). And for those who are hoping and praying the VEATs make up for it.....COME ON. You know deep in your hearts that anything made for villains has to be WORSE than warshades and peacebringers......and those are pretty poor excuses for ATs.
[/ QUOTE ]
The crap fest that is energy aura thank goodness we did not get that .I hope that is the last power set they port over in fact the brutes can keep it for all I care
Fire/fire is cool with me I want stone melee but no way that can be a direct port over -
[ QUOTE ]
I agree that the devs do not care about PvP. If they did the power sets would not be going more to the Hero side, or that is the general opinion i am seeing. The PvP zones are rarely crowded unless they are shivan hunting.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lets see some of what I have seen on my server in the PVP zone Hero side only
Do a search 500+ people on line ok lets filter to just the pvp zones I do all of them 5 people in PVP zones not hidden wow if I had any interest that just makes me want to run and PVP
Hum do a search late night couple days later about 350 people 5 people in pvp zone
That is when I play mostly evenings early sometimes late
That was last week I was not able to check this weekend I was out of town
In fact by what I seen the best chance for pvp is on arena nights on the test server -
I say yay devs this is a good start
People griping well someone always has to complain about something!!!!
They where up front about what to expect about powers throwing a tempertantrum is not going to get something added or removed at this point.
As a guy who loves to play scrappers we pretty much looked at the sets and had it narrowed down to fire/fire or ice/ice for scrappers
Me I have no EM fetish for scrappers I wanted Stone Melee and I looked at that set and what I could do with it as a scrapper paired with dark armor all I can say is happy dance so i knew it was not being ported because they have to tweak things on that set. So i wait until they do it will come like most things with a wait. -
What come on Devs what about us old timers no temp travel powers; debt starting at level 5 I mean running around the Hollows at debt cap because you got a mission on the other side of the zone 1 mile away and no way to clear it other than to suffer threw it.
I mean back in the old days we use have to go up hill in the snow to and from school
