I have always had a fairly fast and friendly response when this problem popped up in the game. Average wait time for me has been 10 minutes. The GMs were very polite and helpful. My absoulte favorite thing that happened during one such incident was when GM Ronnie showed up in my game as a police drone! It still makes me smile.

I downloaded and have tested on my older pc. (HP/WinXP/AGP 7900 GS card) and so far so good. I Have my settings ingame pretty much maxed (no DOF ..hate that 'fuzzy' look in the distance) and all runs beautifully. Seldom have any lag, rarely crash and the game looks beautiful...I love the detail. What I noticed with these new drivers is that there seems to be an even more refined texture detail. Leather looks more real, there is a more 3-D appearance to the figures and there seems to be a lot more metal surfaces that have the reflective shine. I don't think it's my imagination, as I have always noticed how awesome the detail is. (The drivers before the last were terrible and I had to uninstall them...the control panel wouldn't even show up.)
I have always kept my drivers up to date, but this is the first one that seems to have made a major visual improvement to my game. (Even noted I could move around a little faster in Grandville, the only place I ever noticed any lag at all when I play.) I sure would like to know if anyone else is of the same opinion.

I have an older pc/WinXP/AGP...7900GS card. Installed the 190.62 drivers and they work great for me. I can still double-box without a hitch, all is aok so far.

My suggestion would be to start with the easy stuff first. (Good idea to do as Xalaqia said and post HiJackThis and CoH Helper).
Before you start Coh, shut down any unnecessary programs running in the background.
Empty out temp files.
I close my anti-virus program ONLY when I am on CoH..have had little lag since doing this.
I use Defraaggler to do a quick defrag. (ESPECIALLY useful right after a patch/update..amazing how that frags the came parts.)
Flush your dns files. (Open the 'run' prompt and enter ipconfig /flushdns. I made a quick-launch icon for this.)
See if those things help at all. The info from the HiJackThis and CoH Helper will pinpoint any other things. Also, make sure your driver are installed cleanly, and they are up to date. Hang in there..

Since 'helpless' is a description of how they are being held (therefore an adverb), shouldn't it say
"The target is held (verb) helplessly while being slowly crushed by the vines."

If your mouse comes with its own control panel, try setting the scroll wheel to the 'middle button' setting. I did that to make mine work ingame, and it scrolls fine on IE. Worth a try.

I'm just an average player, and don't PVP or PL. I notice little things that make the quality of game life way more enjoyable. Others are into 'numbers, stats etc.)and are a bit more technical. There are lots of things in the game that would make it more fun and productive, and looking at things with new eyes is always good.

Gaspard, that looks so familiar to me...a while back, I was seeing the same artifacts. It was my failing video card. As soon as I got a new one, all was well again.
