Latest Nvidia driver-190.62
This is my first experience with a GPU. Since I am using an older computer, I went with an older card so I wouldn't overwhelm my PSU. I added EVGA FX 5200. When I go to the EVGA and nVidia websites, I have downloaded the most current driver listed for the card itself.
My COH logon screen says I am using an older driver and I should update the driver.
Seeing threads like this one where the driver is not matched to any specific series of cards, is it possible to load this driver (or perhaps one a little older and more stable, since some of these drivers aren't always stable yet) for my older card or should I just leave well enough alone?

Kry, I always check to make sure that the driver supports my older card. The driver before the last was ca-ca...the conrtol panel was even missing, so I rolled it back to the one that had been fine. I always test the new drivers by logging into CoH to see how the game runs, among other things. This newest driver is WHQL (I don't do betas). Do you remove all traces of your old driver before installing the new one? (Driver Sweeper is a good program for doing that.) The 190.62 is specific, and you can check the list to see if your card is supported. In the long run, the driver to use is the one that gives the best performance and visuals, even if it is an older one.

I downloaded and have tested on my older pc. (HP/WinXP/AGP 7900 GS card) and so far so good. I Have my settings ingame pretty much maxed (no DOF ..hate that 'fuzzy' look in the distance) and all runs beautifully. Seldom have any lag, rarely crash and the game looks beautiful...I love the detail. What I noticed with these new drivers is that there seems to be an even more refined texture detail. Leather looks more real, there is a more 3-D appearance to the figures and there seems to be a lot more metal surfaces that have the reflective shine. I don't think it's my imagination, as I have always noticed how awesome the detail is. (The drivers before the last were terrible and I had to uninstall them...the control panel wouldn't even show up.)
I have always kept my drivers up to date, but this is the first one that seems to have made a major visual improvement to my game. (Even noted I could move around a little faster in Grandville, the only place I ever noticed any lag at all when I play.) I sure would like to know if anyone else is of the same opinion.
