Well, after reading this I'm really tempted to make my next Hero a member of this overly taboo'd group. I've always been one for equality in all it's forms, despite not falling into any particular category that defines someone as socially unacceptible by the hive-mind. (Oh, except for 'Gamer', haha.)
I've been known to claim I'm [censored] anyway when anyone uses it as an insult just to make them realise how stupid it is to say. I really hate it when people insult others based on who they are, as opposed to what they do.
It's just a big fat taboo, that shouldn't be taboo, but is. Y'know, everyone equal, judge someone on their actions towards you, not their creed or lifestyle. Treat individuals as individuals.
Now I just need to avert my girlfriend from joining CoX after all this time nudging her towards it. "Wait, you play a [censored] character? I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME." "No baby, it's not how it looks!" *dodges flying lamp* "It's just who I am! I'm an Online Role-Player!"

"I di'nt come here and spend all that time getting in to leave empty handed, chief." Vincent took a step towards Axel. "You know what I had to go through to get into this fortress? Why I even tried?"
One of the Enforcers pulled Vincent back and slapped him across the head with a heavy blow, Vinnie stayed with his head slightly dipped from the blow as he continued to speak. "You've clearly mis-underestimated me and my honourable intentions, Mr. Hunter. I want to speak to Don Alicia."
The enforcers pulled on Vincent to take him away. -

Vincent shook his head.
"Tryin'a get myself a new boss, y'know." he paused to choose his words wisely, "If death is the price for failure I'm ready an' everythin' but I dunno, buddy. Y'know if ya didn't have such good security I could'a shown ya what I'm good at."
Vinnie dipped his head and dragged himself to his feet. "I'm joss here t'make a name fo' myself, Mr. Hunter. Sneakin' around was my opening act."
Vincent, a tall, 20 something hitman already had a name for himself amongst the Mafioso. He was known as an Assassin who only ever worked for mafia interests and stayed unaligned to any one faction. He kept to a single rule that he wouldn't assist infighting between Mafia factions as it'd be bad for his business. Any target otherwise was accepted with zeal, and his considerable talents were more than enough to provide a 100% success rating. -
Vincent Zampelli
Vincent looked up at Axel with arrogance, behind his round amber tinted glasses, his eyes barely fixed on the man before him. Lifting his head, revealed from beneath the duster a torso covered in dense tattoo's of all shapes and styles. A closer examination of his skin would reveal surgical scars running along the lines and contours of the tattoo's, the paint that hid the purpose.
"Understood." he said with an unmistakable Italian-American accent. His voice-tone cold but co-operative. -
I simply hold belief in the fact that we must destroy and render all that stands before us, before we can successfully attempt to rebuild society. Giving it a fresh slate as it were.
((The name "Terra Liberation Front" came about because it's about freeing the Planet from those who don't deserve to control it's fate, or harness it's power. It also sounds sound anti-heroic and is a play on words. Terra = Earth/Terror, Liberation = Freedom/Theft, Front = Group/Facade. Plus, it gives a nice addition "cause" to a group who're basically about being Super-Villains to their heart's content, who, in general just do as they please and have pretty 1 dimensional existences as enemies.
As for Anarchist's being good, I personally think they're the good guys IRL, fighting the man and the machine, for a fairer world. When you put them in the context of the City of Heroes game world however, I think they're on the Villains side, especially if they deal with people in "The Messiest Way Possible", they're bad guys, cos they could go after any of the Citizens in the city who aren't breaking laws, which makes them bad guys and targets for any Heroes who may oppose them. Simply because the game world is White and Black, Heroes and Villains, Right and Wrong.
Heroic Anarchists would have to play it by the book to avoid the Freedom Phalanx, Longbow or PPD coming after their rogue butts, unless you're going to ignore the game world backstory, in which case you may find it hard to interact with other RP characters. Saying that, it's entirely possible to pull off.)) -
The man stumbles in and falls to his knees, hands tied behind his back, he keeps his head low and defeated. A burgundy red Duster covers his entire face, matching the colour of his smart trousers.
One of the Enforcers holds up an Assassin's Claw-Glove, signalling that the intruder has been disarmed. -

The Inevitable Revolution!
The Terra Liberation Front stands beside you, enlightened brother. Your allies will be few and far between, only those like us who see the world as it is meant to be will rally to the cause for now. In time, of course, there will be little choice but Chaos and Disorder as Government loses it's grip and the people rise up to strike down the ageing monster!
The new world order is coming, this is proof. Our paths will meet.
Stay vigilant,
The Hatesman,
TLF Chief Architect
((The Terra Liberation Front
I'm thinking we could perhaps team up into a Hero/Villain alliance. When I posted the idea for the TLF to the Miltia forum I got feedback saying that a few Heroes would find it hard to combat the TLF's goals because they believe in them. I hadn't thought of it as a possibility for Heroes to be Anarchists because of the way the world perceives "Anarchy" to be counter-productive to everything mankind has striven for in it's short and illustrious history of self improvement.
An underground Hero group is something new and interesting though. Perhaps using masks to hide their true agenda when they need it. The problem I have is that as a Hero it's hard to actually RP that in the world, because you never get to fight Longbow or the PPD, and some of the Villain groups are the ones who probably agree with Anarchy and Chaos in these forms like the Freakshow and Devouring Earth.
But, yeah I was shocked to see this title "The Liberation Front - Anarchist Super Team" and it not be about the TLF. Lets work together.)) -
I have to say go with the short mohawk hair, bald head either side, long beard. There's no way to genuinely recreate the "Ushanka" well enough and pass it off without copious imagination, so just make it look like he doesnt need to wear it.

That guy sure as hell don't, and I'be be scared of him if I saw him with a broadsword running at me.
Can I suggest his second costume be like a homeless stragglers outfit? Wobbling around with a bottle of Vodka in his hand, just waiting for a Hellion to come push him around. *Swig* *BOOM!* IRON COSSACK!
Powers: Go for the Broadsword/Invulnerability scrapper. It'd be far more satisfying than a Super Strength guy from what I can tell you from personal experience. As an RPer you just need to claim he also has Super Strength, making his sword twice as deadly. -

No one minds a newbie, it's when they start mixing IC and OOC, and going a bit overboard with "evil" that difficulties arise.

See I'm the opposite...I stopped going to Pocket D because I once got ridiculed for being steretypically evil, when I was just being a jerk to heroes. Isn't roleplaying a bad [censored] villain allowed? Plus I dig golden age comic books. I want my good guys good and my bad guys bad. Not all hanging out together in a night clubBut I guess we all looking for different things from the game, each to their own.
[/ QUOTE ]
I know that story well. Although, going to Pocket D and being a subtle jerk with Hatesman is always ludicrously fun. The key is to reply to the ridicule as a Villain and keep on rocking. Everyone loves a well played villain really. Don't be put off. -
With tonnes of messing around today and some cool characters I've discovered you can easily make:
Tsoo, Warriors, Hellions, Skulls, Lost, Trolls, Circle of Thorns and Family characters.
Which, if you have one of each on a team would make for a great excuse to RP the most Famous Villains of all, and get away with it. I've made these characters below so far then ran out of slots and throw-away alts to delete:
"Herculus" Warrior Slasher - Natural Scrapper - Broadsword/Invulnerability
http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/7139/herculuszk6.jpg
"Found" Lost Pariah - Mutant Defender - Radiation/Mind
"Desert'r" Damned Hellion - Magic Tank - Fire/Fire
http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/8172/desertrsw1.jpg
"Blue Hand" Tsoo Sorcerer - Magic Defender - Storms/Archery
It's pretty easy to make these guys if you take the original design of one of the gang members and make it your own, and hero-ise them a little. You can use ParagonWiki.com for any reference to costume designs, Gang Names or powers you might need by looking up the gang you wanna recreate. Eg: ParagonWiki.com/Tsoo
[ QUOTE ]
Shame you cant have a dark/storm controller to make it 100% right.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah some builds aren't perfect, but getting close is good enough. When I made the Sorcerer, I just made a combination of Tsoo Bosses, the Archer and the Sorcerer. Eh Voila! Blue Hand. Who's hands are Blue instead of Red, see what I did there? No longer to be caught Red Handed, oh-no-no-no.
Desert'r has Deserted his Hellions and weilds the Flames of the Desert. He's got blonde hair and gold horns too, making him look sandy desert type of a fire Tank instead of the classic red/orange inferno fire.
Found (the character who I've developed the most), is a Reformed Lost Anathema, who was originally a Hero before becoming Mutated by the Lost Mutagen, then he was freed by a Psychic Empath Heroine. He manage to absorb a portion of her Powers giving him a weird version of Empathy which is represented by Radiation Emission.
Herculus is a classic Warrior who decided, after witnessing the untold destruction of the Rikti War, that he'd change his ways... he gave up being a gang member for a few years and now he's decided to pick up his broadsword, and a few Armour pieces lying around to get back on the streets to fight for the good guys instead. (He just likes to fight, much like Desert'r and being a Hero is a legal way to do it.)
If anyone wants to use the costumes, names or backstory's for Herculus and Desert'r ask me for em and I'll free them up for you to use, so long as we team up.

I'm never going to see you on Villains again, am I?

Ah the curse of wanting (to do) everything and getting (to do) nothing! I believe I have a dastardly plan however. All I'll need is a clone, a second account, a cheap gaming laptop and some duct-tape... To the Hatesmobile! *Logs into Villains* -
Nice... The American CoX website seems to have nicer features but a poorer design than ours. Perculiar.
But, I was suggesting, a short list of events that new Role-Players could Skim-Read. Even I haven't read every snippet of the timeline and I doubt I'd remember all of it with so much information to process. This Historical Short-List would just contain the biggest events and biggest differences between our world and the CoX one. Simplified even further and made even clearer than 5 topics per decade as the above link shows. -
Russia actually managed to Nuke America in the Cold War... Major league stuff... Maybe someone should put together a list of Major Events from CoX History that characters should just KNOW.
*To-do List expanded...* -
Nice idea, I'm tempted to make a Supa-Troll. Dyne o' Might (The Troll) was one of my favourite Pocket D characters when he was around. I think some of these are do-able, I'm gonna hit the Character creation tools and see what I can make... I shall post any successes here.
Oooooh. Change of heart, Dibs on a Tsoo Sorcerer! *Teleport* *Knockback* *Heal* *Teleport* *Knockback* *Heal* -
Mr. Smiles aka Professor Turmoil has joined the Terra Liberation Front, and far be it from me to hijack this initiative, but I've been trying to do the Golden Age SG with the TLF for a few months, it seems I 've been lax promoting us recently so please do read away:
Tanker Heist Prologue: http://uk.boards.cityofvillains.com/show...ge=1#Post853853
RPSG List: http://uk.boards.cityofvillains.com/show...part=3&vc=1
"Ultimate Super-Villains" can also be read "Golden Age Super-Villains". So if you're interested in Taking Over the World, Robbing Banks, Getting Revenge on Heroes, or just spreading good old-fashioned lawlessness. Come on in!
I tried to get good RPers who first joined to make characters that were classicly Super-Villains, instead of just posers. As such we have a selection of 5 Arch-Villains much like Arachno's has. They are:
[The Hatesman] - Statesman Rip-Off, Political Zealot, Scientific Genius, Cheif Architect (Mutation/Science/Magic Origin)
[Neutrality] - Darkly Witty 'Techno-Mage', Merciless Killer, Self-Imposed Second in Command (Tech/Mutation Origin)
[Scorpio Rose] - Gifted Gang Leader, Cool Vixen, Callous Attitude (Mutation/Magic Origin)
[Dark Golem] - Hulking Mass of Volcanic Stone, Magical Monstrosity, Tormented Prisoner (Magic/Natural Origin)
[Billy Horrorshow] - Psychic Media Junky, Highly "Influential", In It To Win It (Mutation Origin)
You can elect to follow any Arch-Villain and become their Henchman if you so wish. I'm hoping this will promote great internal SG RP... More on that later. If you're interested in us however, you can go register on our Forums which tend not to work too well... covtlf.suddenlaunch3.com (If you can't sign in an account, contact me in game @Zero1278 or the character "Hatesman".
...I was going to finish with some quotes from the Arch-Villains, to further highlight the SG's style, but y'know what, I think we only really need one:
"No matter what the future holds for us, in the end Anarchy will become The Order, and we Meta-Humans shall inherit the planet... Now the only problem with that is that I'm a very Impatient Man." - The Hatesman -
[ QUOTE ]
The funniest thing me and hatesman had to go throught was that these people wanted to hold a mass RP/IC arena match, because he /she insulted a friend of ghosts (hatesman) IC and he wanted to defend his "honor". I decided to join. In the end only four of us decided to fight. The match began( Battle Royal) and ghost and I didn't attack each other only the others, why? Well because it was an IC match that means that we "had" to act IC, and not only are hates and I in the same SG but IC-wise good friends/regularly team up. Why would we attack each other? Anyways I found it funny how OOC AND IC we got accused of cheating, even after we explained OOC and IC that not only are our characters friends, but would never attack each other.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't forget the part where the one who engaged the battle was 20 levels higher than us and suggested a featherweight (Level 11) cap to make it fairer on us. Oh and the part about us winning with a substantial victory. Oh and as for accusing us of cheating... Sounds like loser talk to me.
Monayz plz 2 b bouncer? THXZ!
Anyway tonight in Pocket D, I was rather mischevious... I used a method I got from PCGamer Mag, that I like to call Follow the Nooblar, where you simply follow the person who's causing trouble... simply "F" for "FollowTarget". Creep them out with your stare and lack of chat.
The key's to success:
1. Say nothing at all.
2. Use a really creepy character.
3. Use creepy emotes when stationary. (drumdance, drum and slashthroat are good)
4. Only ever follow them to the edge of the bar you're in... once they're out on the dance floor or in the monkey arena you've won and can return to your station until they return and you can follow them again.
My apologies go to anyone who I may have inadvertantly disrupted RPing by Following the Nooblar.
And on that note, may I suggest we get in the habit of Petitioning Harrassment if anyone harrasses you, outright... not just poor RP but actually being totally distruptive to your fun. Send a petition report with the details! No second chances, just report them nice and silently... eventually "Generic pest1" will have so many complaints he'll be banned from the game altogether.

BTW! I like your attitude.

Thank you. -
From the Helicopters cargo bay, thousands of messy leaflets decend from the sky in a brilliant flutter of chaos, breathless and almost still in their decent they blanket the streets carelessly inviting one and all to the Mercenaries Ball. One man hidden behind dark black Sun Glasses and dressed in a Modern Grey Suit stands atop one of Aeon Cities hulking Skyscrapers, next to a large Gargoyle, he calmly watches a Helicopter pass, a few Hundred Metres beneath him, distributing the mass of leaflets as it goes.
Doctor Hermann Oswald, the man behind the glasses, the man behind The Hatesman alias, steps freely from the 50 Story ledge on which he stands. As he does so he shifts his weight forwards, pushing off from the ledge, inverting himself allowing his limbs trail behind as his head tucks inwards, to most anyone else this behaviour would be Suicidal. Aeons Employees within the Grey Monoliths, stare from the window, envying the courage that this man apparently has to end it all, returning to their desk-jobs as he passes. But as The Hatesman enters the cloud of Leaflets, mere seconds from the Pavement below, he awakes from his fall, snatching a leaflet clean from the sky and rotating his feet towards the ground. Smashing into the Concrete at full speed neither his feet nor the ground he treads on bears any damage, a shockwave and the sound of thunder below outwards from his location, leaflets already at home on the ground scattered into the air in a flash of sudden power.
The Hatesman rises slowly and steadily from his crouched landing, holding up the leaflet to read it as he does so. Seconds pass as the displaced leaflets flutter down around him to rest on the ground again. His eyes narrow a fraction as he closes his palm, crushing the paper within. He sets off towards the morning sun of the new day that dawns, as his palm opens with a crackle of electrical energy, the paper within it is fried into black dust that whips away into the atmosphere... -
Well now...
I was going to [censored] and complain about a lot of things on this thread but, mainly about the state of Pocket D and some of it's fool inhabitants, but luckily my first post didn't go through, I was able to dis-engage the Hatesman and go to my happy place where I decided, we clearly need to solve the problem of Pocket D like true Heroes!
We all accept there's a problem, with the Quality of Role-Play and Role-Players ("Tools"), Griefers, and the High-Quality RPers moving away. Anything else I've missed, add to that list. But I figure you can't change anything Physically there, but we can change the people.
My favourite peice of advice ever goes:
"If you dislike something, change it.
If you can't change it, change yourself.
Just complaining will change nothing at all."
With that in mind... any thoughts?
My ideas so far:
Getting Rid of Greifers
Dominating any Griefers in the Arena or simply ignoring them. Domination can be obtained, if you aren't good at PvP, by a number of ways (Tested By Myself):
- Create a Timed Event. Enter a Stalker. Waste their time by hiding. They'll get bored eventually. Alternatively, challenge them to an event, go in, exit as soon as possible and return to your seat mocking them for their idiocy when they return.
- Set the match to "No Observers" and lie profusely about your defeat, they'll eventually leave.
- Pay me lots of Inf to deal with them as a Bouncer. (>_< MONEYS YAY!)
Fixing Broken Tools
Actively Teaching Bad Role-Players how to Role-Play well, by bringing them into our community, and showing them how much better it can be if you just use some of the Hints, Tips and Tricks of Zortels fine post Stickied in Position 3 on our Forum.
Come, let us save the one place we can all go to Interact, and not lose the one major thing the Devs actually gave to Role Players to inhabit.
I'm getting Reports tonight that Pocket D's dead to the world... -
To bring in Hatesman brand logic. You can't enforce a law on anyone as far as you can physically apprehend or stop them.
Just look the other way if there's something you don't like, and if you can't do that, polietly. POLIETLY, Tell the person involved you aren't happy. Have a little discussion with them if necessary, but don't be all up in their face cos it just won't work. Pocket D would have to be a PvP zone for everyone to conform to the willpower of others.
Reading the first page and adding my late wisdom currency, (1 cent instead of the usual 2 because I'm cheap) I think if you're talking about anyone in Pocket D there's a good chance they're a freak. Not a member of The Freakshow, I mean, a genuine freak. You aren't looking at an average bar, you're looking at a bar full of Supe's or Meta-Beings as we term them. My point being, the kids who wanted to eat the bunny were Super-Freaky Children, they won't conform to the same set rules a normal kid does when it comes to personality.
I was more put off by the underaged sexual stuff I over-heard between a teenager and a certainly-not-teenager, but as it was a private conversation (I was being sneaky), and the characters and situation were fictional, I can't see much of a problem. It's a moving interactive cartoon really, with limited movement. That's all it is. -
[7:23pm The 8th of May 2007]
[WSPDR News, Broadcast to Satellite viewers around the world. The shows anchor finishes reading the headlines, turning to a close up on camera 2, he seems a little dazed and robotic for a few seconds as he speaks the following sentence:]
News Anchor: "...and, now in a change to the schedule tonight, it's time to go to a Special Report by Amanda Vines on location at sea. Amanda are you there?"
[The camera cuts to a cold, wet and windy scene overlooking the side of a boat towards Cap Au Diable on the horizon. The Camera pans around to reveal it's location aboard a large tanker vessel with Arachno's flags fluttering in the wind, the famous reporter Amanda Vines stands with a large WSPDR microphone before the Camera. Her make-up is running and her eyes display a glazed expression, nevertheless she speaks bubbly and full of life. Gun Fire, Battle and Shouting can be heard in the background.]
Amanda Vines: "Thanks, John! Welcome to the deck of the Tanker Perseii, owned by our hidden master, Lord Recluse."
[A man known as Billy Horrorshow is standing in the wind and spray in a casual grey suit behind Ms. Vines mimicking her every word. His voice is un-audibly, drowned out by the weather and sounds of fighting.]
Amanda Vines: "I'm here with The Terra Liberation Front as they free this tankers cargo of High-End Explosives from the Arachno's organisations web of corruption..."
[The camera pans left over to a large Dark Golem seemingly made from Black, Volcanic Rock, it tosses Arachnos Soldiers over-board into the Grey Sea carelessly shrugging off bullets and mace blasts.
An Arachnos flier spins into the Camera view bellowing smoke, flames and a deafening whirring sound. It continues to spin aimlessly before slamming into the ocean over the side of the ship, drowning the sound of it's screaming engines underwater. The camera pans back to Andrea as "Dark Golem" can be seen in the background beating the snot out of more helpless Arachnos soldiers. Amanada remains totally unphased.]
News Anchor: "Uh, Amanda. We're going to have to cut your feed back to the studio."
[The Picture flickers back to the News Anchor at his desk making the Slash Throat jesture to the producers. The picture flickers back and forth for a while before finally staying with Amanda.]
Amanda Vines giggles patronisingly and speaks in a bubbly manner.
Amanda Vines: "I'm afraid that's not possible John..."
Hatesman appears to the left of Amanda.
Amanda Vines: "...because it's time to meet my special Guest, 'the Hatesman', leader of the quite glorious Terra Liberation Front."
Hatesman ignores Amanda arrogantly pushing her aside, filling the entire TV screen while the chaos subsides in the background, Arachnos apparently defeated.
Hatesman: "Hear this 'Free World'. Arachnos isn't free enough for the Terra Liberation Front. The apparent freedoms for Meta-Humans here in the Rogue Isles are restricted by rules laid down by the hypocritical will of Lord Recluse. On this day begins the campaign in which he will pay for this treacherous order."
Hatesman moves away from the camera to reveal a shot of the ships colossal deck stretching off into the distance. 3 figures are gathered in the foreground, they can be identified as TRACOR-005, Dark Golem and Billy Horrorshow, Hatesman points to a figure standing on the very front tip of the ship in the distance.
Hatesman: "Get a close-up of that."
[The camera zooms in on a dark figure bathed in a Purple aura. Throwing his hands out, a gigantic black portal tears into space before the ship at his will.
The Vessel slowly sails into the 10 story high portal, dissapearing into a black abyss. The Portals Architect turns to the Camera briefly, dissapearing in a teleportation flash. The screen goes dark, one purple eye fills the screen, staring intently at the audience. The camera angle zooms backwards, revealing the eye to belong to a man named Neutrality.]
Neutrality places a hand on the camera as Hatesman, Dark Golem and TRACOR-005 can be seen leaping into the Portal. Neutrality leans into the camera his evil face commanding the screen.
Neutrality: "Witness Freedoms Prologue!" he bellows in a crazed pan-atlantic accent.
Billy Horrorshow leaps into the Portal now less than a hundred metres away. Seconds after Billy dissapears Amanda can be heard screaming.
Amanda Vines: "What's going on!?"
[The screen flashes the letters "TLF" before buzzing and flickering to static for a few seconds and then switching to an Arachnos "Technical Difficulties" screen.]
[Usual programming begins again the following morning at 9am.] -
