Quote:If you have the Pocket D teleporter, use that to get there. Even if you don't, the entrance to Pocket D in KR is easy to access.True, Faultline is just such a horror to get to. Seriously, tram line? Please?
Plus, if you're already in the Hollows, you can exit to Skyway and access it from there.
It's really not that hard to get to. -
Quote:Faultline, The Hollows and the RWZ would like to have a word with you regarding that blanket statement.Paragon Studios' motto is "we'd rather give you entirely new zones than revamp the old zones". This is an approach that's focused on pleasing existing customers at the expense of incoming new customers, and it shows with GR.
Also, in some ways, Ultra Mode is an overhaul to all zones.
That having been said, it would be nice to see the low-level contacts and mission structure on CoH get an overhaul to make them more like the ones in CoV, which don't send you from zone-to-zone nearly as often. -
BaBs and the rest of the animation team:
Thank you for the walk toggle. Other than playing with it initially, I will probably never use it. However, I know this will make my "RP-weenie" friends, and many others like them, very, very happy.
To those that feel the need to criticize it, not everything put into this game will be useful to, or enjoyed by, all. If you don't like it, or intend to use it, that doesn't mean it's a waste of time/resources... because it has been a requested feature for a long, long time, and will make a portion of the player base very happy. -
Quote:Why facepalm? This is actually a waste of resources that could have been used for something else. It was like someone said Hey man lets give em walk and see what happens. Can't use in combat, have to reapply all toggles, and I get the facepalm not the devs really?
Twice.
/em facepalm -

And because I forgot to say it: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I love it! I don't know how to describe this, but I've not been this excited over an addition to the game in a very long while. I know it might be minor, but it's the small things that make the game, and this is a lovely, lovely addition. I can deal with the limitations. I just love my ability to walk now
Surely the end is near? -

Isn't it a bit early (or late) for an April Fools joke?

I'm fine with unlockabes, if they either unlock the costume part/weapon for all characters on the account or, if they gave you a "unlock costume part X" token that could be redeemed one time by any character on the account. That way, you only get to use the part as many times as you've "earned" it, but you could give it to new/low-level toons.

Quote:Well put. While you probably expect me to say it, I'll say it anyway: Never has happened, and from how things look, never will happen. I LOVE Oranbega. It's probably the coolest tileset of them all. The only tilesets I actively hate are the tilesets I hated the first time I saw them, which are largely restricted to the pink caves and their derivatives, like the snake caves and the Cimeroran ruins. I disliked them from the first day I set foot in the Shadow Shard for their blandness and tubular design, and I dislike them now for the exact same reason.
You know what the funny thing is? I never stop being impressed. I have, for instance, a few characters I made expressly because of how their costumes looked, and every time I log them into the game, I can't stop giggling like an idiot, thinking "Man, I can't believe this is really happening!" I love these characters, and I can never get enough of them. EVER.
I don't get bored of good graphics. I can look at them day after day after day and the fine details and cool little touches will never stop impressing me. For instance, even to this day I still adore all the care an attention the Necromancy upgrade has put into it. All of those whirling, spinning red thingies, all the little scurrying worms and beetles... I love it!
I'm very much the same. I think some of my greatest joys in this game come from finding that new costume piece/color combo that makes the look just right. Now, I have the power-effects to play with too... -
Quote:Brilliant.Uh, you can do Hero contacts and content, use WW and so on once you're a fully switched Hero - but when you're in the gray area, you can't.
So your brute will be able to do anything a normal Hero can do, but first you're going to have to pass through the stage of being a Rogue, which is one step above a Villain, but one step below a Hero - and while that's your status, a lot of Hero stuff will be blocked off to you.
Let me tell you a story, with colors...
BRUTEY <--- This is Brutey, the brutal brute - he is EVIL, and lives in the Rogue Isles, which are also evil. He does evil things, and his friends are evil too - but his enemies are GOOD. Note the red color - this helps to see he is evil.
But one day, Brutey decides to rethink his poor life choices, and wonders what it'd be like to be less brutal, and more hugglesome - so he goes to another dimention, called Praetoria.
PRAETORIA <--- This is Praetoria. The color of Praetoria is purple - purple is a mix of red and blue. This is important.
In Praetoria, Brutey starts to do things that aren't evil. He starts to lose his color, and becomes rather GRAY. His friends still think he is evil, even if he seems more hugglesome than before, so they continue to socialize with him, because that's what friends do.
BRUTEY <--- This is Brutey in Praetoria. He is somewhat gray now, owing to a clash between hugglesomeness and evil.
But now, his enemies also notice the rise in the hugglesome factor, and they begin to tolerate his presence. They allow him to travel around their zones, and not just his old evil zones.
But they don't totally trust him - there is still some evil amongst his hugglesomeness, so they don't make friends with him, and he can't socialize in the nice blue palces.
But Brutey continues to do good deeds, and stops being naughty completely. Suddenly, one day, he stops being gray, and finds he is BLUE!
BRUTEY <--- This is Brutey. He is now blue. Note the color - this is a good color.
All Brutey's old friends, who are still red, get mad at him, and tell him he's not allowed back, and they won't hang out with him anymore.
But Brutey is not sad - he's found that the blue people are nicer than the red people anyway - and because he's found hugglesomness is nicer than naughtiness, he doesn't miss his old friends anyway - and there are lots and lots of new blue friends to make. They're all very happy he's now fully hugglesome, and no longer naughty, so they all become his friends, and he can hang out and socialize with them in the nice blue places.
Brutey is now very happy in his nice new good blue home, and he has fun all the time - except when he goes to a PvP zone and his old friends drone him because they're still mad at him. -
Quote:Last 6 issues have been garbage?Considering how light everything has been these days I would be shocked if there was really that much extra stuff to do. Personally I feel they have only got one chance at this otherwise thats pretty much it for me. The past 6 issues have been garbage, I say this because I know the devs can do alot better than this.
Garbage.
Really?
REALLY?!?
You know, I've often said that you seem to play a different game than the rest of us. This pretty much seals it. The last 6 issues may not have been perfect, but garbage?!?
You're either being a total drama-queen, or you're a glutton for punishment. I know that if any game I played put out 2-years worth of what I considered garbage, I'd have been long-gone.
So which is it? -
Suggestion: Get a team of 8 (preferably with friends) together before any event starts with the understanding that you will rush there as soon as it hits. That should address your "I'm always on a small team" issue and probably get you at least 1-2 badges per event, so long as the team is at least decent.

Ok, so it wasn't just my inagination. ToTing seemed much harder last night than in previous years. [Not a bad thing per se, though I can see low-level toons having a hard time]
Last year, we found a spot where we could get up to 5 doors to trigger into a relatively small area and had HUGE, crazy fights there that would push non-maxed-out toons to the limit, but had very few wipes.
This year, same location, and we wiped quite a number of times with a smal/mid-sized team. I wasn't sure if the SSKing was afffecting the spawns somehow, or if the genreal diff had just been raised. -
Quote:Ditto. Jaded, we have become. My exact reaction to reading the title of this thread..."Oh great, what now?"
I got a chance to partake in two events last night. Unfortunately, at the end of the first one, the Aspect wandered into the side of a mountain behind the Midnighter's Club and was untargetable.
In the 2nd event, the banners and GM dropped so quickly, our smaller team of 5 had no shot at doing significant damage, so we got no credit. Still had a good time.
In both cases, things were a wonderful chaotic kaleidoscope of custom colors and critters. At least twice, I tried to target custom mobs (red/white singularities and green imps) thinking they were part of the mobs. -

Quote:I'm with you except for the Collins thing. Sorry, no real improvement there.Ugh....I hate myself for being a Redskins fan....stupid Redskins....soo glad we benched Campbell...Collins really helped!
Yep...Zorn and crew are gone before or at the very least at/during the bye in 2 weeks. Which is sad but...*shrugs*
Edit: Oops, used a word I thought meant something else. -
While I do agree that more bosses seem to be showing up (3-man team at +1/x6 running into 2-6 bosses at a time), have to disagree that this is a bad thing. I'm enjoying the heck out of it.
I can't remember the last time I've had this many fun, down to the wire fights, where the outcome was seriously in question. Heck, even my IOed out Brute and Fort are actually being challenged.
Please leave as is. -
Quote:What lessons would those be, besides "don't go in there!" My understanding is that part of the reason they decided to totally rebuild it is that almost no one ever used it.
"Hey we're doing mishs in GV and you're just lvl 5. Need an escort?"
"Pffft. I'm a veteran of the old-school Hollows. I'll get there on my own."
When they intro'd the Hollows, and for a good time thereafter, it was a very heavily player-populated zone. Eventually, people got lazy and went for the easier/quicker solutions, which is why it "needed" a revamp. It's a more intelligently designed zone now, but the players in it are not learning the lessons they used to.
And yes, I realize this equates to old curmudgeon "In my day..." -
It was. Repel might be the power i've had more fun in th game with that other powers. It's not as cool or powerful as others, like say Lightning Rod, but I've done so many fun things with it.
Playing soccer with low-lvl Hellions (as the ball) in AP/GC...
Trying to launch mobs into the portected areas of AP without the drones disintegrating them...
Pinning tough mobs into corners in perpetua-boing....
Zooming down the advanced slope with every singel glowing toggle, incl Repel turned on (ooked really cool zoomed out)...
I love Repel. -
Quote:Sooo much was lost in regards to the lessons the old Hollows taught before temo travel powers and the zone re-vamp.I remember playing my first creation, a tech tank. I needed to go see this police guy in someplace called The Hollows. Don't ask me how, but I was in Skyway at the time and saw the gate to Hollows. I entered the Hollows on the south side and ran my lvl 5 tank all the way to Lieutenant What's-his-name, taking huge damage from these fierce magician-type villains. I died three times and on the fourth time I made it by hugging the wall and running like hell.
I can laugh about it now, but is still the single most terrifying moment I've ever had in-game. And I loved it. When I got to the contact I stood up in my chair and screamed in triumph. -
Quote:Back in the early days, people tried a lot of bungie-jumping with TP. It can be done, but you have to start before the player starts to fall.Let's see, mine would be my first day in CoH Beta I decided to wander around and "explore". Saw a tunnel and thought ohhh cool I will head this way (at level 6). Ended up in Skyway and proceeded to "Hover" for a bit to check things out only to get turned around and lost.
Long story short...
Couldn't figure out how to get back to Atlas and had to call a friend via phone to ask her to log in and TP me out of trouble because I couldn't figure out how to get into the train station. There was a large group of players on top the train station however, I was far to embarrassed to ask them how to get into the train station. *hangs head in shame*
2nd Story -
Same friend came up with a brilliant idea when fighting CoT's on the roof tops in KR. If I fell off the roof, she could TP me before I.... SPLAT...
30 splats later we decided it wasn't possible
My favorite, 2 min into the game noob moment was coming to a dead-stop in front of (what I later realized was) an invuln tanker, who was running one of her auras. "Oh that's cool. How did you do that in the costume creator?" I asked.
Fortunately, the player was afk.
Nivie's post reminded me of my favorite thing, probably ever, that I did early on in the game (back when I knew nothing about being an efficient player and was more focused purely on "oh neat" moments... I kinda miss those days.). I had a Ill/Kin 'trooler (FX) and had both Repel and TP foe. I'd get on top of medium-height buildings in KR, turn on Repel, stand right on the edge of the building, and TP foe the CoT (and others) from the ground to right in front of me. BOING! theyd go flying, crash to the ground below, only to be TP'ed right back to me. Rinse, lather, repeat, until I finished them off with brawl.
Not very efficient, I know, nor much of an XP gainer (most of the damage they took was from falling), but fun. -

Quote:The "tesla cage" type hold effect seems to be working properly. At least with procs and VEAT spider minions. This is happening on most holds from what I've seen, interesting to hear that it's happening on grav as well though as the hold proc from gravitational anchor (purp immob set) is playing the grav hold animation properly, so I had assumed the grav holds would be working alright and hadn't got my old grav troller out to check them out...
I've noticed that with Char on my new fire/earth (ZOMG! I <3 EARTH ASSAULT!!!1!!) dom it often does not show any visible effect for my holds, or does the stun animation. The mobs just stand there.
