Played it on my level 33 stalker.
Mission 1: Straightforward rescue mission, interesting use of Council Empire mobs reskinned, I did something similar in my own arcs, no blatant typos or logic flaws.
Mission 2: This was fairly challenging, would be nice if there was a clue given for rescuing the hostages. This might sound silly, but since the MA doesn't give rewards for these, and if they're optional, it's kind of disappointing to do the objective and not get anything. Purely a flavor opinion, mission still works. The boss wasn't terribly tough alone, but with the patrols and the ambushes, I faceplanted after killing him. Wound up buying purples (which the contact recommended the AE inspiration vendor! VERY NICE TOUCH!) and wading through it like the tea house scene from Kill Bill. (except my stalker has sunshine fists. ANYWAY) The custom villain group was very well designed, IMO.
Mission 3: Can't the circle rent an office building like a decent villain group... Kidding, it fits to have Circle missions in Oranbega, even though I hate it. Died once on the Boss, restocked on Inspires and clobbered her. This is a mission where I -might- reccomend the ally betray feature, I don't see the Thorns letting you run off with one of their books.
Mission 4: Pretty straightforward, at this point I was expecting EBs so I took my normal layout of inspires. The plot twist and the smug speech later seemed fitting with the general flow of the plot.
Mission 5: The finale. In my opinion, this mission could have used a different map, and possibly a set of chained objectives, with the recruit being first, the "boss" second, and then the counterspell, due to the way you worded the results on the counterspell itself. Lots of little tidbits dropped for possible future arcs and some kind of disturbing characterization.
Overall, this arc's pretty much finished and polished, and there's very little feedback to be offered. It was enjoyable enough, and I think with the last mission being tweaked a bit, it'd be great. I think it's worth a 5 star rating as is though, honestly.
Edit: One last thing. I'd say this arc's morality is more steered towards vigilante, maybe it was created before the new hybrid alignments were put in? -
Mission 1:
Opening dialog contact has a misplaced period on the third paragraph, probably due to general bugginess with text editing in the AE interface.
Once in the mission:
Nothing terribly difficult, my only comment is that once you get to the end of the map, you're given a new objective which makes you backpedal through the map back to the entrance, and since you used the tech computer model, it's kind of jarring that they just appear from thin air in the middle of the hall. I'd suggest either letting the player spot these on the way through the mission and destroy them, nothing's really gained by having them sprung once the mission seems complete. Could see this being really annoying if someone had wiped the map, because then you're just going through empty hallways looking for items.
Mission 2: Nothing really glaring at me from the contact dialogue.
Once in the mission: This one needs a pass for proper capitalization and spelling.
Zoo Securty Lt: Typo in the name, your other mobs in this group have security spelled correctly so I'm guessing you just missed it. The description of these mobs also ends without proper punctuation. They're a custom mob, so I'm wondering if your choice of the classic "Super Soaker" AR was intentional, my recommendation would be to change it.
Doctor Louvier: His description calls him "Doctor Doolittle". Not sure if that's meant as a jest or you changed the name after creation. Punctuation error in the description.
"Boss": His group name is Independant Investigators, the correct spelling would be Independent.
Mission 3: Contact Dialogue: Only glaring typo was "ameobas". It's actually amoebas.
Mission says I'm going into a sewer, but it actually starts in a building. Uses the building to sewer transition map, but I think it'd be better suited to just being a straight sewer.
Nav text says "Defeat all creatures in sewer" but it's not necessary, you only have to do the rescue. Now I don't want to recommend turning it into a defeat all, but it might actually work if you used a smaller, plain sewer map.
Mobs named "CheetahSplice" both male and Female: I'm guessing you missed a space there, since the other wolf mobs have the proper space.
Mission 4: Contact Dialogue: Seems fine, handled the "twist" very well, in my opinion.
The recurring character from 2 and 3 returns, I rescue him and he just runs off. Not very helpful.
The "boss" was kind of a clever twist and I laughed at it, as well as the police banter about rumors about paragon heroes.
I noticed at this point that I got a "duplicate" clue, being told I got a characters cell phone number twice.
Mission 5: Contact Dialogue: After accepting the mission, you have an open quotation bracket.
Example. I thought "Why don't I just go punch bob in the face. (not the actual in game phrase, I'm trying to be spoiler free here.
Final Boss was an EB (Guessing it's an AV if you try it in a group) and wasn't terribly difficult. Mission exit pop up was, well, kind of depressing. Made my "saved the day" experience seem much less, well, saved.
So, overall:
Story's fine. No logic holes, was entertaining enough that I read through everything. Missions are playable, with nothing just "broken" but there's a few touch ups that could be done. Main thing, in my opinion, is it needs a really thorough proofreading and editing pass, they seem to pile up through out the arc with the dialogue.
Didn't rate it as it seems it's a work in progress, but it's definitely a good start. I don't want it to seem like it's worse than it is with all the piece by piece feedback, but with some polish it can be a great arc. -
Have been working on this arc for about a month and a half and finally feel comfortable with publishing it and letting others see it. Looking for feedback on it and suggestions if anyone would feel like doing so.
It's meant to be a story arc explaining a character shift from Rogue to Hero morality, with the final mission having a "choice" between the two ideals.
Redemption or Revenge?

Yeah Im slowly banging my way through this.
Now the problem I have is with the nav bar.
Originally, i had 4 villains attacking a zone, and in the nav bar it said "Stop the Attack! Bob, Sue, Larry, Joe."
Then I changed the bosses to plural navigation objects so it says "Stop the Attack! 4 villains to defeat!" and reduces, with each completed objective, but the last one always has the nav bar say "Defeat Bob!" even if it's Sue, Larry, or Joe, and Bob was defeated first. -
Quote:The problem there, is Dr Aeon tends to post "in character" and that wouldn't exactly be in character.Sometimes, it's all in the approach. Had Dr. A said something like...
"Dr. Aeon here! Remember me? Sorry for seeming to be AWOL, folks, but Pratetoria has had us all doing other things. We've been keeping up wither everyone's concerns and are looking in to all sorts of things that'll spice up live here in AE, and make a lot of people happy, but while we're doing that, I thought a contest would be a great way to get people back through the doors. So... Im here today to issue my Third ARCHITECT CHALLENGE! Its been a long time coming, so I hope youre all ready for this one..."
Heck I think his references to Neuron were meant to subtly imply Praetoria -has- kept him busy, but what do I know. -
New question!
Is there a way to have a captive/ally simply fall down and stay down upon rescue?
I tried to do this with the dead slab emote, but two results happen.
If it's a captive, they fall down, then immediately stand back up and run away.
If it's an ally, they fall down, then stand up, then fall down, then stand up, and eventually start following me. (Even when set to no combat and not set to follow) -
Played and Rated: Dhahabu Kingdom and the Indelible Curse of Hate: #367872
Top notch arc, just found one spelling error, and something Im fairly sure you can't even control, the contact's face image in the dialogue box does not match the color of your custom NPC contact.
Can I take a rain check on reviewing my own arc though? It's not quite ready yet. -
Quote:It's not. I've run over 30 alignment missions in the process of taking him from Villain to Rogue to Hero (10 to Rogue, 10 to Hero, 10 to Hero again) and 3 morality missions total. The one rogue to switch, then the hero one twice. The second hero morality mission gave me 50 reward merits, so Im thinking one of the above posts is correct and if you're crossing alignments, you'll actually have to run 3 Hero Morality missions for your first hero merit.Just to be clear, Alignment missions (a single Tip) are not the same as Morality mission (the 11th mission). If you made that small error, that may be your problem.
Kinda sucks, but oh well. -
This thread?
It totally delivered. -
I've recently taken my brute to Hero Alignment, and have run the morality mission twice and I am still not getting any Hero Merits. Is there something more I need to do?
-
Quote:I can only speak for myself, but if Im building something in the AE, Im not responding to anything short of a tell. That screen is huge and blocks out everything.I always try to to do this. What's interesting, if annoying, is that a lot of times they don't respond. Something I've been trying to do recently is casually ask people after a team starts disbanding from a TF or GM run. I've gotten a few maybes that might pan out.
Also, taking the perception thing into account, there's still a fair amount of broadcast invites for AE power leveling in the Atlas AE on Freedom... -
I came into this thread expecting a pun

A new question!
Is it possible to have dialogue be said without it being tied to a present mob?
IE, something similar to the Praetorian missions where your contact or allies will call you during the missions. -
Absolutely hate Defenders.
I -used- to love Tanks, but that was long long ago.
Then they did the Global Defense Nerf and then followed up with ED and it was like "well, lol thanks for the neutering!"
Seriously. My Inv/EM tanker once tanked 3 Eochai and about 20 little pumpkin men during the first halloween event. How can I ever go back to tankers in their current state after that? -
1. Are the new powersets from Going Rogue available for custom creations in MA? IE, can I make a Kinetic Melee AT? This would apply for all 4 new sets.
2. Is there a way yet to set multiple win conditions?
IE: Defeat Commander Roger completes mission, OR, defeat Operative Wilco completes mission, on the same mission?
3. Is there a way to have actions from seperate missions in an arc carry over and impact later missions?
IE: I defeat Bob baddie in mission 1 on the way to beat up Operative Wilco, and this adds a clue "You defeated Bob Baddie". Later, in mission 3, I set up Bob baddie as a conditional spawn, with his objective being completed in the first mission being the trigger. -
Quote:So the first Fight Nights were not Fight Night?Be that as it may, as far as I am considered without Generic Villain, it's simply not the same Fight Night.
Do you even know what number Fight Night this would be?
Because it was not Generic Villain's creation, you know. -

Quote:Yeah, it might be another week till I get to the next morality shift.Gratz, my Ice/Kin Corr cleared his good name and did the hero turn last night, it's kinda wierd exiting the hero base in RV, some guy called me a traitor last night, I got a good lol out of it.

Last thing Wiki states about this was that the sale of the CoH IP to NCSoft put a wrench in the works regarding releasing the product. But this was back in 2008. Is this pretty much dead in the water at this point?
I know a quickplay pack was released at some point, but never got to see it myself. -
Maybe, hadn't even thought of that, so I'd basically need to go to Hero, then to Vigilante, right?
Edit: I should point out that unless they add something new to the isles in the future, there's very little "new content" there for this guy. I think I still need to run Reichsman and that's about it. -
Now I've gotta decide if I want to take him full hero, or just leave him as a rogue so he can still hop over Red side and beat up stuff. Oh, and the whole RP thing too, if it comes up.

It might have taken 5 years, but my little goody two shoes brute is finally able to run around Paragon.
Sadly, I think everyone that would care besides me has quit.
