Praetoria themed-SG

Hello Virtue people! Forgive me please if this has been put forth already, but I was wondering if anybody would be interested in making a Praetoria-themed SuperGroup Blueside. Now, I'm aware of the thread that proposes a group of toons who STAY in Praetoria, but I'm talking about a post-rift RPSG (RP levels are flexible, though I'm into it myself).

Ideally, it would be comprised of those individuals who seek a peaceful solution to the problems between Praetoria and Primal Earth. These could include both Loyalists AND Resistance. Though, probably the Loyalists would be from the Responsibility side, and the Resistance would be the Wardens (or whoever the non-crazies are). But people who are concerned about the future of their world and want to see it prosper, and are willing to overcome their personal philosophies in the face of a greater, common goal: preventing all out war between the two worlds.

To this end, of course the SG would be willing to recruit local heroes from Primal Earth, as fellow ambassadors of sorts and to solidify Praetorian-Primal relations. Like the Praetorian factions themselves, there would be different groups within the SG as well. Sort of like how the Vanguard has The Gauntlet, The Sword, The Herald, etc, with each specific section given its own theme or task it should focus on (this would be mostly for RP purposes, and wouldn't hamper how you want to play the game). Maybe even go so far as to give each division their own colors, and if it ever gets large enough, section of the base, with a commander for each, etc etc.

So if this hasn't been proposed already, would anybody like to start it up with me? I have no concrete ideas for names or anything, but I had a few ideas. Please chime in with your own if interested.

Possible Names:
Sons of Praetoria (I like this one, but the male exclusive title is kinda ehhh)
Children of Praetoria (too youthful and juvenile sounding. Maybe for a teen-centric spinoff SG?)
Praetorian Ambassadors (Nice, but since I think they need a military/armed forces branch, among other things, the focus seems narrow)

That's all I got for now. Ideas, input, or a link to a thread that proposes something like this are all welcome.

SG Name:

Novus Legatus

Ooooh that's kinda neat. Would you be interested in joining?

I'm up for using Novus Legatus, or still taking suggestions for other names if anybody wants to make this thing with me. I got a few random folks in-game interested, so hopefully we wouldn't just be starting with one or two people.

This sounds interesting. How do you intend to find other Praetorians IC? Simply through word of mouth?

I've been to the D as my Praetorian character (an agent of Powers division, but specifically the Responsibility section), because it has the only way back to Praetoria, but it doesn't work for him. but he knows other Praetorians can still use it both ways, so he hangs out there, finds Praetorians, and tells them to look him up if they come to Paragon, to form a sort of halfway house and Praetorian Embassy once they cross the rift. I've done the OOC recruitment broadcast a couple times, and a few people have told me they're gonna make a Praetorian toon and to PM me when they get out.

Still, I haven't actually formed the group yet with the registrar in Atlas so we'll see.

BUMP!
C'mon people! There's all this new lore flying about! Praetorians unite blueside!

A few quick questions.

How should people contact you in-game?

What sort of base will they be setting up IC?

Upon joining, will people be given an ultimatum on treatment of members from a different faction?

How will the group keep out people with malicious intent, such as, say, a Crusader that's all "omg no way, i'm so goin to ruin ur stuff"?

Contact me as my toon Agent Rufus Darcia, or my global handle which I think is @Emperor Justin.

The base will act as a form of Praetorian Embassy, but unlike actual Embassies, it won't be legal Praetorian ground. This means positive members of the Resistance can reside there without any free-thinking Loyalists being obligated to arrest them. Likewise, it means Primals can inhabit the base and come and go without it being seen as an invasion from a legal standpoint. Sort of like Pocket D, which is neutral ground, and organizations like Longbow and Arachnos don't have any authority or jurisdiction. But unlike the D, which isn't affiliated with anything but itself and having a good time, the Embassy would be equally affiliated with Praetoria and Primal Earth.

The rules for residing within the Embassy or as part of the Legatio would be that you present a positive example of your respective government/homeworld. Primals don't get to go nutty and break ****. Praetorians don't get to act like chompers and slam random stuff. Loyalists agree that beyond their capacity as representatives of Praetoria's acting government, they hold no jurisdiction and cannot enforce Praetoria's laws on Primal Earth, or within the Embassy. Members of the Resistance acknowledge the Embassy as neutral ground that is not inherently Cole's domain, and should therefore not treat it as such.

So I guess a short answer to that question would be "Sort of." The Embassy recognizes that the situation is sensitive and difficult, between Resistance and Loyalist, Primal and Praetorian. Tempers will flare and mistakes might get made, but open, violent attacks won't be tolerated from anybody.

As for keeping people with malicious intent out, generally speaking I'd think they would gravitate Redside if they're playing an IC person who is into that sort of thing. But if there was just a nutjob who managed to slip by, they'd probably be given a warning, then get booted or arrested IC. I imagine the leaders of the Embassy would hold some kind of interview process for incoming Praetorians or Primal Ambassadors.

I should point out that my main Praetorian toon, Agent Rufus Darcia, is a Loyalist, but ultimately sided with Kang at the end of the responsibility arc. And he also doesn't see himself as a leader, or at least, not the big cheese kind of leader. He'd be happy being in charge of a covert ops division of the Embassy, or something like that, but he doesn't think he's capable, or worthy of leading the Embassy (but will if nobody's gonna step up, because he also thinks the Praetorians in Paragon need to present a unified front for multiple reasons).

I hope that helps. This is all just ideas I have, and anybody who wants to help me get this thing started is of course welcome to insert any input they wish. I'd like it to be a community thing and not just a "Me" thing.

You can just sum that up with "The SG base is in/on a parallel world/pocket dimension and as such is not part of any government body." IE it is dimensional Switzerland.

But yeah I have some Praetorian toons that would work well with that. I'll have to look you up online sometime.

Except I think it'd be a fair share more active than Switzerland. for instance, Arachnos is CLEARLY up to no good regarding Praetoria (along with everything else) so the embassy would definitely have a "No Arachnos Personnel" policy, and may even go so far as to actively and regularly combat them. They'd also frown upon any militant incursions from either world, and while diplomacy would be their first step to stop it, if that didn't work, they'd go to their guns. Be it Longbow attempting another ill-informed invasion of Praetoria, or Cole deciding it's time to send one of those big effing Clockwork stompers over.

Double-postin'

Here was my thinking for the various divisions within the Embassy. Please note, being in one division or another does not mean you would be excluded from normal game activities. They’re solely for RP purposes. Though I think some ATs may gravitate to some divisions rather than others (Like, a scrapper in the fighting division, a healer in the ambassadorial division, etc), it really just boils down to what you think your character would be best at.

I’m going to list the SG default titles next to the individual names I’ve come up with for the various ranks/groups (or Houses). I think that aside from maybe the lowest rank and a couple of the highest ones, the ranks won’t have any special privileges associated with them, but will be there to designate which house a toon belongs to. We’ll see.

Novus Legatio General Information:

Group Emblem:

Group Colors: Primary-White Secondary-Gold

Group Ranks:

Leader/Imperator-the head of the Embassy. They are a skilled orator, negotiator, fighter, and commander. They embody the ideals of Novus Legatio, and are the pillar that supports all the houses.

Commander/Consul- There are four Consuls: one for each of the three houses, and a fourth to oversee the coming and going of Plebians. Each Consul exemplifies the traits and ideals of their particular House. For example the Consul of the House of the Sword would be a powerful warrior and fighter, spearheading the military operations of the Embassy, while the Consul of the House of the Voice would be the consummate diplomat, able to talk their way into and out of any situation with perfect aplomb and courtesy, and so on.

General/Domus de Gladius (House of the Sword)- the warriors of the embassy, and those who are used as a last resort when diplomacy doesn’t quite work out. When obvious and threatening incursions are made into Praetoria or Primal, they are the first to respond to the threat, keeping the military presence in both dimensions restricted to that of the native’s forces.
Emblem:
Colors: Red or Orange and Gold

Captain/Domus de Vox (House of the Voice)- the diplomats and peacekeepers of the Embassy, those that act as its representatives and Public Relations people. They work hard at trying to overcome the villainous stereotype Primals have of Praetorians, and the backward, undeveloped image Praetorians have of the Primals.
Emblem:
Colors: Blue or Purple and White

Lieutenant/Domus de Animus (House of the Mind/Spirit)- The thinkers, researchers, scholars, and intelligence gatherers of the Embassy. They may work as scientists devoted to studying the rift between the dimensions, the technology or both worlds, or as spies, gathering information on potentially dangerous threats that may come from either world.
Emblem:
Colors: Green or Brown and Gold

Member/Plebian- those new inductees to the Embassy who have either not decided which House they wish to join, or those new arrivals from Praetoria who seek temporary asylum while they find their feet in the new Primal Earth. While they will not be held to any particular responsibility within the Embassy, they will still be expected to behave accordingly, and will not be permitted or given access to Top Secret information, missions, or all services the Embassy provides.

While this House has no emblem or colors of its own, they may share the laurel wreath and white/gold that symbolizes the Embassy as a whole.

Again, these are my ideas and are open to adjustment/renovation/whatever. I haven’t actually started the SG yet. I have not visited the Registrar in Atlas or anything, since I’ve only gotten a handful of responses in the thread, and only one in-game that was from somebody who wasn’t at lvl20 yet and was still stuck in Imperial City. If I can get a couple people in game to sign up with me, then we’re a go.

Novus Legatio is now open for business with a whopping TWO members! I've got another guy on a different forum coming in, and soembody in-game who's stil lstuck in Praetoria. Any and all appropriate type toons are welcome (what that means is no openly psychotic folks, and nobody with "PRaetor" in their character name unless it's a Resistance guy making a joke)

Bumping this for great justice. Just joined recently, and the people are friendly plus the concept's neat!

I like the idea. I'm actually still kinda feeling out where I want my Praes to go (since I haven't blazed through all of the lore yet. >.> Yeah, I'm slow.) but I could definitely see this as being an option.

Good luck to you, in the meantime!

I'm glad you joined up and are enjoying the group! Welcome to the forums.

As for the rest, we've got a great handful of people now, but we still need somebody to head up the intelligence division. So if somebody has a character that would make a good spymaster slash scientist slash brainy research guy or something like that, it would be awesome.

Cheers.

I'm imperfectly happy with the name (I'd have gone with something more descriptive like Friendly Praetorians), but an RP hero SG for Praetorians is something I'm definitely looking for for two of my characters, a responsibility Loyalist and a Resistance Warden. I'll contact you in-game.

We have a website now! It isn't much, but I'm working on it!

http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.asp...&TabID=3123533

Gonna try and get us a Virtueverse page one of these days as well.

The SG has exploded with growth, which really surprised me. I think we've got at least 12 unique members, and a couple alts, and I've gotten messages from 3 or 4 people who want membership as soon as they leave Praetoria. Woo-hoo!

I just made it through the rift last night and have only done a few tip missions so National Justice is still very, very new to Primal Earth and I think he would be a great fit. I'll find you in game.

Hey, I tried to send you a friend request under @TheThirteen

I'm very interested in this group.
