  1. I agree that using purples is very expensive. I don't agree with your assessment that defense is required. I run an Elec/Fire Brute at +2/x8 very successfully and don't have any defense on him at all. What I have is lots of recharge and +HP. There are a couple of enemy groups that give me problems, but when you are farming you go for the groups that fit your build the best. That is why I suggested the demon farm for his Fire/Fire build. He could run that on as high a difficulty setting as he wanted and never have to worry about anything.
  2. You could change the focus of the build, but that much recharge sure makes things die really fast. I think if you pay close attention to your health bar and use healing flames a lot iy will work ok. You will never bo the best farmer, but it should work.

The Demon farm is a mission given by Harvey Maylor about halfway through his story arc. It is outdoors and has all Praetorian Demons who do primarily fire damage.
  3. I would say if you are facing mobs that do fire damage it is great. Those that do other damage types could cause some problems. You could farm with it since the AoE damage output would be very good, but you are still pretty squishy and your primary doesn't provide any mitigation. If I was going to farm with it I would take him blue side and get the demon farm.
  4. Yes, but if you look in mine I have added it to Temp Protection.
  5. Well, I will check in before you start and see if you have room. I have 6 level 50 Brutes, so which ever fits the best I can bring. My namesake is a Stone/Stone if a tank is needed.
  6. I have an EA and I don't have Overload at all. Once I was able to softcap defense I respecced out of it. I hate the crash associated with these types of t9's and tend to avoid them if possible.
  7. I have tweaked some of your slots to avoid breaking hte rule of 5 on sets and actually ended up with slightly higher +recharge. You had several things over slotted, so I changed those. It looks like your goal was recharge, so I focused on that. I think you will be highly dependent on Healing Flames with this build, but it is up very quick and hasten only has a 5 sec downtime.

  8. Is this open to anybody? I can bring any of the Brutes listed in my sig. All of them are IO'ed except the DM/WP. My Stone/Stone would probably be best if you don't already have a tank.
  9. Not a bad build overall, but you have gone beyond the soft cap, so I have tweaked it a little for you. My main goal was to increase Psi defense some and get the recharge on Energy Drain to be better. Both of these will keep you alive. I didn't change any powers, but Overload isn't needed after you are softcapped.

Yes, I know this and I can still finish this arc in just over 30 minutes. I could finish it quicker, but it seems I always miss a mob on the last mission and have to search. I need to go back and try it since the change that reveals the last few mobs. Maybe I can beat that 30 minute timer for the badge.
  11. Do you need defense? No you don't, but it definitely helps. Willpower is a set that works well with just common IO's or SO's, but adding set bonuses to that makes it very powerful. What set bonuses you use is your choice, but defense is always a good way to go. Slotting for +hp and +regen also works very well with the set.

As far as your build the only concern I would have is the accuracy of your ST attacks. Kinetic Combat only gives 22.94% enhancement to acc and if you up your difficulty much you might miss a lot.

But like I said, that's my take on it on paper, what's it like to play for real reals?
As several have already said, DA's biggest problem is endurance management. With the new APP's now available that no longer has to be an issue. Energy Matery has Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection which will go a long ways toward fixing that.

Also, the bad rap comes from mainly 2 of the toggles, Death Shroud and Cloak of Fear, and Dark Regen. The toggles use .52end/sec and DR uses 33.8 end/use. This will definitely cause problems if you don't slot right.

Needless to say DA will benefit greatly from IO's. I have a FM/DA that has no endurance issues even spamming DR every time it is up as well as about 25%defense to everthing in addition to my decent resists. He is a blast to play can take on anything out there. It took me a lot to get there, but then I like playing the sets that are more challenging.

No defeat alls or escorts [Edit: Actually, there's one escort, but it's pretty fast], you get all your powers, and it's Rikti, so you pick up some Vanguard Merits while you're at it.

Thanks for the reply. I will try the old posi task force. I didn't realize till I looked on Paragonwiki that it had been added.

I have pretty much run Villian side content the last 4 years and just don't know the Hero story arcs that well. Paragonwiki is great for telling you what merits they award, but it doesn't tell you which can be run fast.
  14. I moved my Stalker over to Hero last night I am looking for a few good oro arcs to run for merits. What a some of the ones that can be done the fastest for merits. I will be setting to -1/x1 without bosses and stealthing as much as possible.

I have only leveled 2 heroes to 50 so I am not real familiar with the best story arcs on blue side. Thanks for any help.
  15. I have only leveled one stalker, but what I found works the best for me is to stealth the mission set to +2/x1 with bosses. I will stop and kill the single Lt. mobs that spawn at lot on that setting also.

I also spent some time speed running oro arcs, but I would set to -1/x1 without bosses for that since I was only interested in merits. I normally picked "Spy Hunt" from Dimitri Krylov for 16 merits, I could finish this one is just over 30 minutes.

It doesn't change the fact they have to keep fury up but this way if Fury crashes for some reason you have a nice way to get back in the grove.
What villain power are you talking about here? Also, it is pretty much impossible to ever have your fury bar at 100%

EA was probably not the best choice to go with WM, but I made him back when the strong and pretty thread started to see just how bad it could be.

I found out it really wasn't that bad after all and after IO's he become quite tough, but there are much better secondaries to pick.
  18. SM/DA Brute + Fire/Kin Corrupter = perma stunned mob that melts to RoF + Fireball and the brute will have limitless endurance.

Things will die so fast you don't have to worry about aggro.

Soft capping S/L is very popular and works really well, but it is not absolutely needed. I have a EM/Elec without any defense at all and I still run at +1/x8 just fine. I went for massive amounts of recharge and use endurance drain as mitigation. If they don't have any endurance they don't attack as much. One of the great things about this game is the ability to build the way you like and still be affective.

I can run that chain pretty consistently with my recharge, tossing in Pulverize (which stuns I think) and Clobber as needed on harder targets.

This is similar to what I do with my WM/EA. I use Crowd Control, Whirling Mace, and Shatter mainly and fill in with Clobber or Jawbreaker. I never use Bash or Pulverize at all. I have enough recharge that I can normally just cycle the 3 AoE's continuosly.
  21. What is wrong with using Kinetic Combat sets? With the new rewards for running tip/alignment missions they are pretty easy to get now. Each piece costs 1 a-merit to buy, so you can pick up one pretty much every other day. They are also on the market more now since the merge. I would stick with using them.
  22. DM/SR looks like a very good combo and I am currently leveling one myself, but I think it fails to take advantage of what the fire/kin corrupter offers. You have to ask yourself which secondary would you play if you had a /kin with you at all times. Since /stone has already been eliminated I would choose /dark myself and pair it with claws, fire, or stone. Dark Armor benefits the most from having that /kin with you at all times. Try a Stone/Dark and watch entire mobs get perma stunned so your bubby can burn them down in complete safety. Of course Stone Melee is also great single target also.
  23. Elec Melee is not the best farmer around that is for sure. SS is best when it comes to farming, but Elec can do ok. I guess you have to look at how much fun you have playing it and you can use it till you get SS/??? leveled up. SS paired with /Fire, /Shield, /WP, and /Elec all do well farming.
  24. Elec/Elec can be a very good build against certain emeny groups. I have found that /elec is great against Malta, Carnies, and rikti which gives most other sets a lot of problems. One of it's biggest drawbacks is it lacks any kind of defense so it is very hard to soft cap. Since that is the case I would go for lots of +recharge, as much as you can find.
