Dark Armour
its a decent set, however, the set is VERY toggle heavy (i think 8 of the 9 powers are toggles), so will have to get your end under check or you will burn end
other than that its a great set with a lot of flexibility and mitigation as well as the heal
Please see the guide in my sig. With the right enhancements and playstyle, you can become a monster with Dark Armor.

"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."
I don't have a DA brute, but I've managed to make one of the toughest tanks I've seen with DA, mostly thanks to the exotic resists. It has the best heal in the game, and one of the best things for that heal is the Theft of Essence proc. With that slotted I've found that Dark Regen sometimes fills both bars.
In my opinion, DA has more potential than any other armor set.
Supposedly, DA is sub optimal for brutes because the control auras hurt fury. I've heard just as much evidence against this as I've heard theories for it, though.
My bottom line, if you're having fun, you're not doing anything wrong.
Where to now?

Can anyone offer any practical insight into the efficiacy of Dark Armour? On paper, it looks good to me, good resistances, what looks like a godly heal (dark regeneration) and some other nice stuff like cloak of fear and oppressive gloom to keep minions nicely subdued.
But like I said, that's my take on it on paper, what's it like to play for real reals? |
Also, the bad rap comes from mainly 2 of the toggles, Death Shroud and Cloak of Fear, and Dark Regen. The toggles use .52end/sec and DR uses 33.8 end/use. This will definitely cause problems if you don't slot right.
Needless to say DA will benefit greatly from IO's. I have a FM/DA that has no endurance issues even spamming DR every time it is up as well as about 25%defense to everthing in addition to my decent resists. He is a blast to play can take on anything out there. It took me a lot to get there, but then I like playing the sets that are more challenging.
My SS/Dark brutes latest build (had him since CoV Beta) is below.
As they've said /DA is end heavy, but I think the rewards are worth it. Just slot attacks and defenses with end redux and you should be fine. I used to have both Cloak of Fear and Oppressive Gloom, but the -tohit attached to Cloak of Fear really is meaningless and if you're running Death Shroud then you're constantly breaking the fear effect and they get to attack.
Anyway, try out the set. I rolled a DA tank as soon as the set was ported to tanks just based on my bruting experience with it as was not disappointed.
