In a slightly weird move, Positron has moved to working on CoX's new endgame system and other ultra secret projects, and War Witch is now the new lead designer. Weird, as that seems like a demotion for Posi... but good that he's still around, I guess. And War Witch has done good work, so that's pretty good too.
Anyway, I like the interview over on mmorpg.com, apparently content is going to be king for Going Rogue and the update after it (which they're already working on). Music to my ears, that. Thoughts? -
Hopefully I'll be on for awhile when you run one of these again, it's a fun challenge. I also have a former Lost/Rikti Blaster that is always itching to take on the Rikti, heh.

Dang night class. Have fun, all.

Heh, I do hope 22 works better for you, DC.

Happy birthday! Hmmmm, January is such a good month for birthdays, isn't it? Such cool people born then.

Build up for Peacebringers does need something. Either an increase in duration so changing to a form doesn't hurt it so much, or make the form change have less of a duration (and it sounds like the extended duration would be easier). After that, it would probably be okay, or at least on par with other Build-ups out there.
I suppose I wouldn't entirely be against upping the recharge for a much longer duration (like 20 seconds), but not the 180 second recharge for Fiery Embrace. I think Build-up needs something for Peacebringers to put it a little more competitive/on par with Warshades, but that's it. -
Wow, this saddens me.
I like that the devs are there, even though we certainly shouldn't abuse that privilege. I wonder if people were being a little too free with BAB's inbox?
Hopefully you'll still post and respond to things, BAB. We like your presence on the forums! -
Yup, good advice Rajani. That's what I usually do on hunts that need to be in spots. For that one in particular, I look for Fir Bolg on the south part of the map, as they're either near the zone and can get pulled in, or they're in that SW corner of that area.

You know, Masque, an AE contest is a great idea. I rather wonder how many people try for the gamewide contests, and would love a smaller one that we could try out and be more "community-ish" with it. That and fiction would be fun.

Quote:Ah, so trying the "going rogue" route with that? It's a toss up. Be able to reach over the counter and zap the annoying customer and make him do the Shaky Shaky Dance, or immolate him where he stands?
-ponders-
It's a tough choice.
Flux, don't encourage Masque. Heh. -
Heh. We shall see, Mental, we shall see.
It's actually kind of nice to see the 'ole Favre magic working for the Vikings. I always got nervous when the Vikings were ahead while playing the Packers- he had a strong tendency to pull victories out at the last minute. It's part of the reason I don't watch their games live anymore, heh. -
Happy Birthday, DC. All the cool people are born in January, aren't they?

Ah, football. After years and years of watching the Minnesota Vikings put out good teams, but never make it to the Super Bowl (nor have they won it the four times they made it there in the 70s... oy), I have reached a point where I don't let myself care how they do. So even if they make it to the Super Bowl, note that I will refuse to be drawn into any taunts, even if they're playing someone's precious Colts or Jets.
Though I would think a Peyton/Favre matchup could make for a great Super Bowl (sorry, MG). -
I always liked the arc, personally. Pretty much the only requirement to liking it is being able to deal with the Carnies without too much of an issue. They're usually a fun challenge, so I like it (and they're usually easier on a character that has some defense to drop their end drain on defeat). From there, the story is pretty interesting, as you slowly unravel how the Carnies work and track down Vanessa Devore. Actually, I'd say it's on par with a lot of those arcs in the 40s, as what you are doing sounds quite important (as well as being interesting). Taking on all of the plots Nemesis has, finally dropping the Countess Crey, etc.
Hunts are always pretty "meh." As Hawkwood pointed out, the second to last Striga arc is a pain because of all the hazard zone spawns you have to deal with. Stephanie Peebles earlier on is pretty easy, as the spawns are smaller, etc. in the port area. Taking on 5-6 War Wolves at once in the mid-20s is usually a bit tricky for most characters, though (especially since you'll probably have a boss and a couple of lieutenants in there). All that's too bad, as the Striga arcs are pretty interesting. -
Yeah, that one's a bit odd, as there aren't too many hunt missions with that high of a counter (or with that rare of a mob on the streets). The earlier advice to drop a lot of mobs is a good one, as a lot of the mob space in Peregrine is shared... you could see Carnies, Malta, Rikti, or Crey in a lot of the spots.
Carnies usually spawn in the central area of Peregrine, but you can find them in the docks on that SE side. Sometimes there are big spawns of them hanging out on ships.
Heh, I just got this mission as well the other day. I couldn't drop a mission yet, so I just paused with him and played another alt (good thing about COH as well). He'll be ready to drop it when I play him again.
I'm glad it didn't keep your experience down, as this really is a good game, as you said. -
Heh, I went heavy on the smilies in my second one, too.
-
Oh, Des, I jest and you take me so seriously.
And (here's another joke!) I'm not sure I need to get out more. If it's normal for people to want to be a demon (succubus) or want to date a girl that could suck your soul out and has bat wings (I can't remember the bio of some of your characters, so I'm joking off the cuff here), I should be purchasing a shotgun with lots of ammo and boarding the door shut! Hmmmm, though I suppose all those freaky Twilight moms fall on this category, too!
Excuse me while I go get a shotgun and some 2 x 4s!
Heh, Shakespeare already appeals to the masses of today. Shakespeare is bawdy enough to make watching an episode of SNL look tame.
I did note a few of my characters that would probably be fun to play/be, too. -
Well, there are some fairly rare recipes in the teens that end at 20, so I could see some value to doing this, I guess, if that's the market you are going for. If nothing else, it'd be nice for those random sets that cap out at 20, and that are unfortunately a bit rare right now.
But yeah, 32ish is pretty good, as there are never enough of those recipes in that range these days.
If the OP wants to stay at 22, a Blaster would be pretty effective, but the earlier suggestion for a Scrapper like DM/WP isn't that shabby, either. Scrappers truck along pretty well at those levels, and I think I had my DM/WP going through the Midnighter arcs at Unyielding levels or so... and not very slow, either- I didn't have to slow down for endurance or health, really, unless I had to fight a few Warrior Bosses at once. -

You two are... weird.
Anyway, I honestly don't think I want to be anyone other than me. Though I suppose I wouldn't mind having super powers, so I'll play along.
It's kind of a tough call. Grey Pilgrim is a strong contender, as when I'm really ticked off, I do wish I could flame up and burn some stuff, heh. I think I would want to stick with Super Jump on the one hand, since it'd be pretty fun to hop around like that (as long as I didn't completely wreck everything I landed on, like The Tick).
You're right about flight, though, Viv. It'd be great fun to do that. So my Archery Blaster, Menelmacar, or my Energy Blaster, Marvelous Mentalist, would be fun there (both for their primaries, and for their ability to fly). -
That was interesting. We were pretty safe as long as we stuck together. I think most of the deaths occurred when we were split or trying to take on 2 mobs at once. Still maddened by how weak this guy can feel. It didn't help that I exemped below my ST disorient power, which is usually rather helpful.
Not sure why I'm okay with Controllers, though I usually avoid buffing Controllers (I suppose Kinetics is technically buffing, but it's a bit more dynamic than cycling through teammates and shielding them). I guess they don't have blast powers that make me feel like they should be doing more damage... I've just played too many Blasters.
Voo, you should keep doing these, it's kind of a fun concept. I probably don't want to do it next Saturday, as that's pretty much the only night I can fit longer TFs in, and my last Tanker on Victory needs to run a Posi.Still, I would join in when I can.
-
I don't have a guide, but my WP/DB Tanker went ahead and got every attack. It's worth it to me, as you have options for what you are doing and facing, if you're exemped, etc. Empower can be fairly nice while solo (at least until you start getting your AOEs lined up), and Weaken is generally quite nice on teams if you're having a hard time of it (or if you're running solo with a lot of mobs).
Once I got to 35 and 38, I did tend to focus on the AOEs, but it's nice to have those attacks and combos for when you exemp down. If you solo, I would recommend increasing how many heroes you equal. I usually teamed with my WP/DB, so I felt like I was wasting all my AOE potential while solo, heh. The change in difficulty settings really changed that.
Oh, and my WP/DB was able to fit in Tough, Weave, Aid Self, and still picked up a hold from the epic pools, so it is possible to grab all the attacks (and Taunt) and have room in your build. -
Yeah, it's about marketing and promotions, so I do find it interesting that they'll toss out these many to a site and not to someone that already knows about the game!
Eh, I'm sure they have some funky process that I don't know about, or even hope that someone who knows enough to apply on their site will pre-order instead. Just grousing for no good reason.
800 or so are still left if anyone wants to grab this. -
What do you mean by an Olympic event?
TF races in game sound kind of fun. I probably wouldn't be able to make it (unless the event matched when I can get in game, heh), but it seems like it would be pretty fun to do.
I wouldn't mind some more fiction events, either. I'm obviously keen on that because of my own personal interests, but the last two have shown that us Victoryites can do some decent writing, and I'd like to see some more. Even though I'm still waiting on the prize from the previous contest.
If we did a costume event, I wonder if we could do a forum related one? People always hate how subjective it seems with just a few judges online, and I'd be interested to see how it pans out here. I suppose it would lend itself to favoritism, but we don't seem to lean too much that way. I would think you could do an anonymous voting system using Google docs or something, too.
That's all I can think of for now, I'll toss out more if they come to me. -
Steadily ticking down... 3175 when I started my process, 3125 as of this post. Thanks for the heads up, Ham. Love that mmorpg.com had these, and Cryptic wouldn't toss them out for someone that asked for one. Whatever.
