Hi,
I just made a DP for the kick and took Swap Ammo and I don't see the point of buying a power slot just to get almost nothing in return. I understand it can bypass some resistances but it's kind of expansive and there are many lethal sets that do well enough.
The worse thing about it is probably that it is unslottable though which is a big handicap at lvl 50 compared to other power sets.
Is there something I'm missing about that power or is it really as skippable as it appears to be?
thanks -
Quote:it depends what difficulty you want to survive at.Hi folks,
I'm new to the game and after having tried numerous Blasters i've decided on trying out a Scrapper.
I've have down to a Kat/WP or Spines/WP, they both seem great but which one is better solo 1-50? Which pumps out the best dps and has the best survivability?
Thank you
The best survivability for highest difficulty is defense soft cap at the moment (45%) and the cheapest to achieve it are /SR, /Shield, /Invul for 8-man.
All the others lack the survivability for +4/8-man without high investment in IO bonuses to get defense soft cap but Kat and BS help a lot their survivability. -
Out of curiosity, any reason for Katana instead of BS ?
-
I thought about skipping melee defense when I took Whirlwind though but since I'll need steadfast, Weave, CJ and maneuver anyways, I'll get melee and aoe too although not that high. the cost seems too high for my budget too.

DM/Regen with the goal of using only Siphon Life, Midnight Grasp and Smite eventualy (with soul drain of course and DC as an occasionnal aoe).

Hi,
I was wondering if I could hope to ever play at the highest possible level of difficulty (all levels to the max) as a regen?
I use the run + leap away while attacking but while it works against 3-5 mobs, it doesn't against much more than that.
I was wondering if there is hope with the whirlwind (3 slotted with endurance) + ranged defense strategy? Whirlwind is a huge endurance sinker though.
Are there other strategies out there to play at the highest possible difficulties as a regen?
thanks -
Elec/SD sound nice or Elec/Fire
great aoe + knockdown and SD can be soft cap easily enough so it has great survivability as well -
Quote:18 months.Well, that depends. How long were you subscribed for before you left? Veteran rewards are retroactive for old accounts that get reactivated. If you played for 4 years with no breaks before you left you should have 4 years worth of badges already. Really depends on how much time you built up when you played before.
Also, veteran rewards will never be for sale, since it defeats the purpose of them being "veteran" rewards. They're a thank you for keeping an active subscription for a length of time, not a reason to stay subscribed.
People have been asking about buying them or pre-paying for them since they were first introduced.
leveling up seems to have been quickened quite a bit though, I went from 1 to 20 during the last weekend and it was taking me much longer to get there the last time I came back. -
Quote:I'd rather take a travel power than taking both swift and hurdle which defeat the purpose of buying ninja pack and only reason to slot a travel power is to get a IO bonus and the good ones are too expensive.Yes. Ninja Run is *NICE*. Fortunately, I've got a level 4 character on-hand, so here's the values (go look up the base values yourself
:
WITH NINJA RUN
Running - 28.99mph (36.77mph with Sprint)
Jumping - 30.30mph
Jump Height - 22.60ft (23.00ft with Sprint)
No idea what they're like when you've got Hurdle, Swift, and Sprint fully tricked out at 3 slots each, but my level 30 (my highest character) has 2 SOs in Hurdle and 1 in Sprint (all level 30) and is getting:
Running - 37.95mph (47.49mph with Sprint; compared to his capped 81.04 with Super Speed on instead)
Jumping - 59.67mph (only 6 or 7mph below his Super Jump cap)
Jump Height - 37.32ft (37.72ft with Sprint)
The only reason any of my characters have travel powers anymore is that I can't be bothered to respec 'em and my new characters have little desire to get any, either, other than perhaps Teleport...
Of course, the costume pieces and emotes are also worth the $10, but Ninja Run's definitely the most practical of the Super Booster powers. -
Quote:sigh, which means never... I wish I could pay 10 bucks to get it instead...
thanks -
Quote:I see. how many months before getting it?There is a Veteran Reward that allows you to select a travel power at level six without taking the prequistes. For people like you and me without that reward you just have to remember that you'll need one and to wait until level 14 when making your build.
Powers can be customized during character creation or at any Tailor/Facemaker. -
Hi,
I just returned to the game and I downloaded the last version of Mid's hero and saw the travel powers were at lvl 6 now and told myself that the dev finaly did something good to make leveling more enjoyable in a way so I started my toon and just reached lvl 6...nothing changed, they are still at lvl 14 so Mid's hero is bugged or am I missing something?
I guess Mid's was too hopeful but I'm asking just in case. It would be a good idea though and not hard to implement either.
While I'm at it, is there a way to customize the new power's color in game?
thanks -
Hi,
In an attempt to make my SS/WP more enjoyable, I'm looking for help to improve my mid built if necessary before I start putting the puzzle together. Here's the built I came up with:

Hi,
I'd like to know if we can make mobs with kamikaze powers or are we limited to the 2 vhazilok ones (Meaning lvl 1-20 max)?
thanks -

Fighting purple con Boss i pop inspirations, yes.
I personally love charged brawl, building and maintaining Fury > ALL for Brutes imho.
[/ QUOTE ]
I always had trouble against 2 bosses at the same time and against elite bosses. What you did is nothing to brag about, sorry. and anyone can do anything using inspirations.
now, if you can take the alpha strike of 8-man teams at high difficulty or fight elite bosses and all this without inspirations on a /WP, that would be something.
Well, if I had taken air superiority before, I've had much less trouble to be frank. -

I love this build so far (currently Level 36). ZERO downtime for my brute means I can get fury high and SMASH! SMASH! SMASH! With nothing but plain SO's big groups of orange con minions and Lt.'s = keep em comin, red con elite boss = no problem, purple con boss = bring em' on. Is there anywhere I can improve the build in the run to 50? I was concerned about the slotting of Tough and Weave. Thanks in advance.

I'm curious, with or without inspirations? -
[ QUOTE ]
Sorry, what? If you're asking if using Placate on a Smoke Bombed foe will still get you a crit, then yes.
[/ QUOTE ]
yes, that's what I meant
thanks -
Hi,
I know that Smoke bomb's placate doesn't allow crit but since it requires to hit to affect mobs, would Placate power work or is it canceled by SB hit?
thanks -

Okay, this is a fairly easy topic to explain. Knockback and knockdown are exactly the same mechanic (they use the horizontal axis). Whether an attack does knockback or knockdown depends on the magnitude - if the magnitude is less than 0.7 (maybe it's 1.0, I don't remember, but there are no player powers AFAIK that are less than 1.0 but greater than 0.7) the power will do knockdown. If it's greater, it'll be knockback. Knockup (all jokes aside) is a similar but separate mechanic - it uses the vertical axis instead of the horizontal one.
One thing of note is that if a power does knockdown and also accepts KB IO's, you will effectively be increasing the magnitude of that knockdown and turning it into knockback. This is not always desirable, especially in a power like Footstomp. Enhancing a power that does knockup (Knockout Blow is one example) will simply increase the vertical distance of the knockup.

thanks. -
Visibly, my question wasn't understood....like I wouldn't know it's different in effect...
I meant the mechanic behind. kB is magniture 1+, KD is less than 1 but PW said KU uses a different mechanic. I guess if a power says KU, Mag 1+ = KU instead of KB, is it correct? -
Hi,
I've read ParagonWiki about KB, KD and KU and while it is clear how KB and KD works, for KU, it only says that it uses a different system than the otehrs but it doesn't elaborate, how is it different? is it only that it is KU instead of KB if the power says it is KU (like knockout blow) ?
Thanks -
[ QUOTE ]
100% chance of the low magnitude knockup
It wont work against (almost all) AVs, they tend to have high resistance to knockback/knockup.
% chance can be seen in game drag the power to your chat tab and click on the link it creates or type in yourself like: [Air Superiority]
[/ QUOTE ]
if no % it means 100%? like Knockout blow? -
Hi,
I've heard a lot of good thing about air superiority but looking at it in Mid doesn't tell me why it's so good, does it have a high % of working?
Some say it's good to keep AV on their butt, how so?
Why does it stack with war mace when it's a KB effect and mace is mostly desorient effect?
While I'm at it where can I see the % chance of applying the status effects? Mid doesn't seem to have them.
Talking about mid, any idea when it will get ugraded to include I14 sets? Gladiator's armor is not there.
thanks -

Only real disadvantage is that you give up the small defense buff that you would get from Combat Jumping. But really not a major loss.
