Mid's Hero vs travel powers at lvl 6?!?

Hi,

I just returned to the game and I downloaded the last version of Mid's hero and saw the travel powers were at lvl 6 now and told myself that the dev finaly did something good to make leveling more enjoyable in a way so I started my toon and just reached lvl 6...nothing changed, they are still at lvl 14 so Mid's hero is bugged or am I missing something?

I guess Mid's was too hopeful but I'm asking just in case. It would be a good idea though and not hard to implement either.

While I'm at it, is there a way to customize the new power's color in game?

thanks

There is a Veteran Reward that allows you to select a travel power at level six without taking the prequistes. For people like you and me without that reward you just have to remember that you'll need one and to wait until level 14 when making your build.

Powers can be customized during character creation or at any Tailor/Facemaker.

It's because some veterans can take travel powers without a prereq.

You can recolor primary and secondary colors in game at the costume shop. Travel powers and APP powers can't be recolored, yet.

Yes. Ninja Run is *NICE*. Fortunately, I've got a level 4 character on-hand, so here's the values (go look up the base values yourself :

WITH NINJA RUN
Running - 28.99mph (36.77mph with Sprint)
Jumping - 30.30mph
Jump Height - 22.60ft (23.00ft with Sprint)

No idea what they're like when you've got Hurdle, Swift, and Sprint fully tricked out at 3 slots each, but my level 30 (my highest character) has 2 SOs in Hurdle and 1 in Sprint (all level 30) and is getting:

Running - 37.95mph (47.49mph with Sprint; compared to his capped 81.04 with Super Speed on instead)
Jumping - 59.67mph (only 6 or 7mph below his Super Jump cap)
Jump Height - 37.32ft (37.72ft with Sprint)

The only reason any of my characters have travel powers anymore is that I can't be bothered to respec 'em and my new characters have little desire to get any, either, other than perhaps Teleport...

Of course, the costume pieces and emotes are also worth the $10, but Ninja Run's definitely the most practical of the Super Booster powers.

I'd rather take a travel power than taking both swift and hurdle which defeat the purpose of buying ninja pack and only reason to slot a travel power is to get a IO bonus and the good ones are too expensive.

Well, you don't really need Swift. That's just icing on the cake (since you'll get up past 53mph with 2 slots on it and Sprint & Ninja Run active). At least for me, since I prefer Hurdle. And if you want Health and/or Stamina, you're going to have to take at least one of them anyways.

Minor off topic question. Ninja run is good and all, but what about the squishier ranged AT's in the game, wouldn't it be better to have hover and fly (or at least hover)? I ask this because (90% of the time) melee attacks are more damaging than ranged attacks. Wouldn't it be better to be able to remain out of melee range all of the time with hover? If you are saying it is possible to avoid melee troubles without hover (and still blast, control, ect), my whole perspective of this game will have to change. (No hostile intent, just confused now) (Backstory view, ranged squishy=hover/fly, curious as how to avoid melee without them)

Like Combat Jumping, Hover's not really a travel power, so... Not that I've bothered much with it. Not much room to stay out of the way on most indoor maps, at least not without getting the camera too close to the ceiling and screwing up my view. I prefer to just stay back and jump back if something gets too close - Ninja Run's speed and jump height might be suppressed (rarely keep it on in fights anyways, 'cept on my Regen & WP and Mastermind characters, mainly, toggling it on if I need to chase something), but Hurdle & Sprint aren't and neither is NR's air control, so I can usually get out of the way when needed.

Heck, the only character of mine that has Hover at the moment is my L29 Mastermind, and he's only got that because I was tired when he leveled and accidentally got that instead of Air Superiority... Doesn't have much use for it anymore. Used to use it in tiered rooms to go up to the next level and things like that, but since he's got Ninja Run (and nothing to strain his End so he can keep it on full-time), he just jumps up.

Well, that depends. How long were you subscribed for before you left? Veteran rewards are retroactive for old accounts that get reactivated. If you played for 4 years with no breaks before you left you should have 4 years worth of badges already. Really depends on how much time you built up when you played before.

Also, veteran rewards will never be for sale, since it defeats the purpose of them being "veteran" rewards. They're a thank you for keeping an active subscription for a length of time, not a reason to stay subscribed.

People have been asking about buying them or pre-paying for them since they were first introduced.

18 months.

leveling up seems to have been quickened quite a bit though, I went from 1 to 20 during the last weekend and it was taking me much longer to get there the last time I came back.

I know a number of people who have switched from Hurdle-Health-Stamina to Swift-Hurdle-Stamina to bolster their use of Ninja Run as a travel power.

OTOH, Ninja Run is comparable to Fly's speed at getting around without any extra support.

And with support, it's fairly awesome - 1x SO'd Sprint, 2x SO each for Hurdle & Swift (level 32 Blaster, L35 SOs) gives me 50.08mph running, 61.61mph jumping, and 38.82ft jump height. Almost tempted to add a 3rd slot to Swift & Hurdle, and 2 slots to Sprint just to see what it gets me up to.

Just FYI, Sprint has a somewhat stronger runspeed increase than Swift (50% vs. 35%). Swift has the obvious advantage of being an endurance-free passive, rather than a somewhat costly toggle to use during battle, but if you are using it for getting around town it might like the extra slots before Swift gets them.

Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.
