  1. In some respects I am happy with the change. Before I have asked for fights and been told that 1v1 fight with Rad is pointless as they will not hit me. Ive always thought that Rad is strong due to the fact that it buffs/debuffs practically everything and never felt that I won through IR alone.

    The best way to avoid getting hit is movement anyway IMHO so hopefully Rad will remain a very nice PvP set.

    P.S. Heal is nice solo with its fast recharge but, personally, Ive found it hard to heal team mates in PvP as its PAoE and quite low healing .

    From top of my head I think its fire tanks, dark scrappers and nin stalkers that need it vs KB.

    I think controllers have always had stronger holds, even a Rad controller has a stronger hold in EMP then a defender even though its a defender set. I believe this also goes for sleeps and stun and like powers.

    It is interesting that Dom holds seem to have the same Mag as controllers whilst not the same duration (again controllers have the longest duration, I think), -dom or power boost that is.

    I really think acrobatics is a strange one because I am also convinced that it has protected me and other people from controller holds. Then again thinking that and it being true are two different thing as whenever Ive tested it one was enough.

    As far as I know it is:

    Players:- Mag Res: 1
    Minion:- Mag Res: 1
    Lietenant:- Mag Res: 2
    Boss:- Mag Res: 3
    AV:- Mag Res: 4

    Not sure infact if Elite Boss is 4 and AV is 5 though.

    Controller, whether primary or secondary, holds are mag 3 I think, which either suggests that acrobatics is mag 1 and -1 = a hold or it is mag 2 and 0 equals a hold (1+1-3=-1 or 1+2-3=0).

    From what you are saying non Dom and Controllers holds are either mag 1 or 2, most likely 2 as I am pretty sure staked hold would brake through acrobatics.

    However there could be another important point and that is not all power that seem the same are. It generally accepted that Total Focus is 100% for mag 3 stun and 80% for mag 4. This being the case it could be possible that some holds follow suite thus explaining why people, including me, think acrobatics has protected them from holds one time and not another (not including controller crits).

    I know this may seem far fetched as I dont think it has been suggested before but are the hard figures for any of these powers really known by the players? I remember detoggle figures for sets like Force Field and Storm were published by the devs way back so maybe hard figures are known.... just not by me, fore sure .

    And if you add rewards for PvP kills, then you get the same effect as in the WoW "Honor" system: The best way to score "high-quality kills" was apparently for two high-level guilds to meet in a discreet out-of-the-way location and do a set of mutually agreed kill-exchange round-robins, so that each player in guild A got to kill all in guild B three times, and vice versa.

    (Three times, because you could only score points for killing any given opponent three times a day, if I recall correctly...)

    Sort of the PvP equivalent of power-levelling.

  6. Usually but really depends. Made a villain the other day on Defiant and since it had taken me a while to make by the time I took hin into SC it was empty, (BB was quite crowded earlier but since even at level 20 he isnt PvP worthy I wasnt going to try my luck there).

    Late evening can be good on Union for SC and Ive seen quite a large group of villains about recently at half one in the morning, by and large BB tends to be empty of anyone really wanting to fight.

    Also on Union Warburg tends to be a bit dead with the same faces on for a few punch ups and duals on roof tops, that still going on btw? Been a while for me.

  8. You can also get grant invis and team with another stalker who should have concealment pool and grant invis, stealth,hide and invis I think reaches stealth cap.

    With Nin's -perc power you would make a great team.

    Solo though I would live by one rule... dont bother to try to kill an Ice/SS or Ice/EM tank running tactics and FA .

    Hmm, wonder if EM/* stalker can take em down solo.

  10. Playing Nin so pretty much the same, only reason I wouldnt have it on auto is I dont want to go in for an attack only to have it kick in an root me like a tit in the middle of a group of 6 heroes .

    SR has quickness and speeding up AS,Placate and powers attacks can really boost damage output IMO, (hide getting detoggled can be a killer on slower recharge).

    Think Elude before AS is a very efficient, if little cheap, way to make sure it works and personally I would take it over overload purely due to the drain at the end.

    Nice other effects on EA from the looks of it.
  11. Seems like a popular build. For my EM/Nin stalker for PvP I am getting concealment, teleportation and speed pools. For last I am undecided on leadership, flight or jumping so really no room for fitness and I think it can be playable without, esp. with elude equiv.

    For PvE however I think stamina would help alot.

    One thing for PvP and PvE for */Nin is that Nin has no protection from KB at all so acrobatics should seriously be considered IMO, while fly can help your in trouble if u get a -fly on you.

    Regen stalkers

    Since they have less health health regained per tick is less so they do lose as they have practically no dam res.

    That being said Ive found stealth + ability to regen health is a nice combo. MoG on a stalker is in some ways far better since they already have less health anyway and can maybe avoid being hit by Psi more then a scrapper.

    With Dull Pain you can hide more easily but if that were to be changed you would have no protection from hide being knocked off due to damage as other sets with defence have.

    That is what Ive found out so far at least.

    P.S. Regen stalkers have two toggles from secondary set as oppossed to scrapper regen's one so less likely that integration will be the 1st to drop. One real weakness for regen stalkers is however end drain as they cannot get protection from it other then stamina.

    Since the changes to toggle dropping are, I think, comming from their effective use by blappers does anyone know if other sets are likely to be altered, (e.q. Storm, FF)?

    Chances are the will be global but wondering if anyone knows the facts.

  17. As an ex psychology student I find myself very interested in why people here enjoy PvP as opposed for instance PvE.

    Is PvE too formulaic? Do you like a to challenge yourself? Do you like to challenge others? Do you like to have pride in a well earned reputation? Or do you just do it because its an element of the game and you want to get value for your money?

    Genuinely interested in people's views behind the toons. Also maybe what has brought you round to it and past background.

    Ill/Rad fight, while perhaps interesting, would most likely end in a 0-0 draw esp. in a 10min fight.

    Everyone has said their views and in the end its only a game so why really care?

    Ill still be up for it at some point purely on the bases that I said I would.

  19. Looking over it I would think yours is the better build esp movement wise and faster PA. Seems 3 recharge in blind is about .81 of a second faster then 1 (going by builder), may go for 2 but 3rd to me seems alot as we will be busy activating other powers and using insps.

  20. Would totaly agree, thing is though someone has called me out and suggested I would be a coward if I didnt fight. TBH I will be happy losing, I like PvP and have done for about 12 years now and the knowledge that ive fought against a better player and, hopefully, learnt something from it will mean at the end of the day I will feel Ive not lost out.

    This is my present plan for my Ill/Rad, I havent read your yet as I am interested how they compare. I made a mistake on group invis and health I think but this was my 1st ever character and so far I am quite happy with it.

    Epic so far I havnt chosen and vs another controller without backup I would be tempted to get Psi for Indom. Will. I dont intend to create the char purely to fight one person though so will probably go for Primal Forces for overall PvP.

    This is based upon I6, hopefully we can get together before I7 (and at at this rate I am pretty sure I could level 20 toons by then) but if not then it may change, I7 will after all be coming out on test 1st.

    I am looking forward to this but would like to to make one condition and that is it is done without any bitter feelings on either side and purely on the grounds having fun.

    And after all this, if I beat you, does that mean there is skill in PvP here or not?
  22. At the mo I am trying to level a EM/Nin stalker, MC/Ice Dom, Rad/Psi Defender (actually really alot of fun) and Ill/Rad Controller (why is it the devs in their wisdom decided to make the slow end of the game only reward you with powers every 3 levels?).

    Takes a day to level to 14 but Ive played both Ice and Dev before and dont think I could stick with it till 22 .

    I think what QiSnake said makes alot of sense tbh, chances are since we are all posting so much on this forum we all have, to some extent a PvP mentality. When we go against someone who doesnt then it really shows but for me I usually take it that it was their lack of PvP experience or interest that won me the fight rather then a belief that I am that good. Maybe some of us feel there isnt much skill because thinking up sneaky ways to fight in teams and solo is second nature to us? Who knows.

    Could be fun though some time for everyone to make one of the same ATs for a punch up, not to prove anything, but rather to brake up what, for me at least, can sometimes become routine playing.

    On a side note it interests me why other people chose to PvP. For me its not to beat other people but rather because I like to see what I can think up and what sets work well with one another and against what.

    How about you guys?

    P.S. Why was it my comments exactly that you were fed up about? Seems to me I am only one of a few who wrote along the same lines.

    Anyway Ive just thought of a great way to end this Imaginary. Why dont you suggest an AT, any AT, TA/Archery defender for instance, we both level one to 14, that way we can have a travel power of our choice and also dont waste time leveling too far for what is basicaly a waste of time anyway.

    If its about even it proves little. If on the other hand you beat me something like 14-0 then you will have certainly proven your point.

    While at that level you dont have many powers to make a difference hopefully at the end of the day skill will win out .

    You seem to have something to prove Imaginary. If you think accusing someing of being too scared to fight you will get you a fight your sadly mistaken, dont go in for manipulation myself.

    At the end of the day you and I are just two players in a multi player game who both have the right to say what they like on forums as long as it does not put people down.

    As far as I know ive not done that and if I have it was not intentional and please except my appologies.

    Never turned down a fight but quite frankly I have no intention to fight you as I have nothing to prove at all. It is, after all, only a game. You are welcome to take that any way you wish.

    PvP is so damn easy in this game it isn't even funny. Get a good build, get one or two tips and start having Arena matches/stepping into PvP zones. I give it about a week before you know practically everything you need to know.

    Think it really just shows that most the time its not so much skill that wins fights but lack of skill that losses em. Oh and after a week of practice? Yup, why not? If you have a PvP mindset and do nothing other then PvP for a week solidly there isnt much reason why you cant be as good as anyone else, seems to me thats the point of the thread, to suggest that it doesnt take long to do, oh and to get people to argue over an old and well debated point.
