To clarify, this only happens when trying to use "super tailor" NPCs, including the Icon rep in RWZ and Trina in the Tiki lounge. You can visit basic tailor NPCs, which now includes all trainers, and edit your costume just fine.
I've bugged this one a couple of times now, so hopefully it's worked it's way into the QA pipeline. ANY issue which causes a client crash should really be given high priority. -
While the initial arc isn't as good as it could be, the overall story that progresses through the teens in does become enjoyable, IMO. Don't just base your opinions completely off the initial arc (in before "first impression"), because things aren't as they appear.
Oh, and it's explained later on why Zephyr wears the Ascension belt. It won't pacify the folks who rage because NPCs are not under the same costume limitations as players are, but at least it's explained in-story. -

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but when you see stuff missing that probably shouldn't be missing, please /bug it. Don't just sit there and complain about it.
-
This has already been reported in the I21 VIP beta bug forum, which the QA team has been reading. It'll be fixed eventually.
-
The bonus points script will be run later today (Wednesday) during the announced maintenance.

So for like 99% of the playerbase, nothing at all changes.

Oh, hey, I get to try my new thing out!
Here goes ...
Quote:...and this is why.
This is a gross violation of my privacy and civil rights, and I will not subject myself to this. I will be unsubscribing permanently as soon as I send this message. I'm posting this so that whoever in NCSoft may see it that may change this. If you take this out, I may continue to subscribe in the future. But as it stands, I'm done. I've been paying for the past seven years almost, and for the last two or three without even playing most of the time. No more.
Nice. -
I raise a toast to the memory of our forum's human geek news aggregator.
I won't be able to see a Time Manipulation character from here on without being reminded of you. -
Quote:Don't argue with her about Cole. Unless the devs come right out and say otherwise in no uncertain terms with no way of being misunderstood, she'll continue to think that he's just pure, monsterous evil in a flesh suit. And even if they do that, she'll probably find some way to twist it to fit her own black and white idea of morality and that only good and evil exist. Intriguing storytelling be damned!Don't get me wrong... even in that guise he is reprehensible, but at least there was a moral core to what he did.

Quote:Or worse, it realizes what it is truly capable of and begins evolving into what its Praetorian counterpart has become. If this leads to Seedling Invasion events with Praetorian "allies" showing up I'm sending the Devs the BIGGEST Gift Basket I can find....
On another note.. what will Primal Hami's reaction be? Will he see this as an ally or an Adversary? If the latter, methinks that we are about to get caught in the biggest crossfire in the games history..... -
Quote:Read it again. It seems to me that it is Cole releasing the Hamidon Seeds on Primal Earth, and that the plan is to let them do enough damage, and kill enough of the super powered opposition, that when he arrives, he will be hailed as a savior on Primal Earth just as he was on Praetorian Earth.
Duray was the one who released the seeds into Primal Earth. His plan was to overwhelm the Primal Earth heroes, throw some tactical nukes down in order to "neutralize" the Devouring Earth outbreaks, then spin it to make the Praetorian forces look like the good guys. In addition to introducing elements of the fully-realized Hamidon to Primal Earth, this would also result in many civilian casualties; Emperor Cole wants neither of those things to happen. So he murderizes Duray and sends word that he'll be needing more Duray clones -- clones that didn't have the stupid idea of releasing Hamidon Seeds into Primal Earth. -
Also, the community reps try their best to announce scheduled maintenance here on the board. Something like Freedom launching, which will require an extended downtime, will absolutely be announced in advance.

Quote:There was never a solid lore-based reason given by a redname, but the technical issues are very much real. During the beta in which VEATs were introduced, there were all sorts of problems involving the packs. Textures wouldn't show up properly on them, animations wouldn't work right, and sometimes the pack would just vanish. I experienced all of these first-hand. Eventually, in order to hammer out all of the problems, the packs had to be permanently fused to the player character models. Of course, once dual builds became available, a flaw in this became apparent as VEATs with a Bane build found themselves still in possession of the packs.Originally, the fact that the pack is permanent was listed as a "Known Issue". It was later, removed the from the list and classified as "Working as Intended" due to technical issues with allowing it to be removed. The "lore" reason given by a Red Name at the time (I believe it may have been BaBs, but not certain), was that the pack is surgically attached to the spinal cord, and can therefore never be removed.
The Crab Spider attacks use specialized animations which animate the pack. If the pack is not there to be animated, this causes weird things to happen. Since changing builds does not change your costume, it would be possible for someone to create a Crab, switch builds to a normal Solder/Huntsman, go create a packless costume, then switch their build back to the crab, and not be wearing the pack.
While it sounds like it would be a simple matter of replacing the "back" slot when you switched builds, obviously, it's not that simple. If it were that simple, I am sure they would have done this long ago. Besides, I know how quickly the words "can't they just" make the devs see red.
This is neither a bug nor is it really working as intended. It's a work-around that was and still is necessary to get the Crab pack to work properly on player characters. As such, there's no simple fix. -
I'm sure this has been beaten into the ground. I'm also sure that there's been a developer response as to why this hasn't happened or why it likely won't happen. But I'd just like to make the humble suggestion that the available choices of SG and VG base teleport beacons be expanded to reflect a post-Going Rogue City of Heroes.
First of all, I'd like to see beacons to the Praetorian zones added. I realize that there are are no Praetorian SGs, but Praimal Earth characters can already freely enter Praetoria via one (and only one) portal, tucked away by some bathrooms inside Pocket D, and even team with Praetorian characters. I see no reason why SGs can't gain additional access to Praetoria by snagging all the exploration badges there.
Also, I'd like to see Paragon City and Rogue Isles beacon use extended so that those SGs ad VGs with Rogues and Vigilantes among their memberships can use their base teleporters to travel abroad if they take the time to go around and earn the SG beacon badges for those zones.
Finally, I'd like to see a beacon to Cimerora added. I realize that story-wise, the Midnighters are supposedly accessing Cimerora without Ouroboros' knowledge, but the fact that we players can have our own crystals of ice and flame kinda goes against Ouroboros lore anyways.
Now, in all my examples, there is one consistent thing which makes giving players access to these beacons difficult: they're all gated in some way or another. Access to the original Praetorian zones depends on owning Going Rogue (or being a VIP once Freedom launches), and access to First Ward will depend on being a VIP or having bought a license for the zone; being able to travel abroad to the Rogue Isles or Paragon City is dependent upon being a Rogue or Vigilante; traveling to Cimerora is dependent upon having gained access to the Midnighter club and being level 35.
Standard Code Rant being in effect, I cannot say with any certainty if it would be possible to connect the required flags to the appropriate beacons, or how much programming time it would take if it were possible. But I think it's worthwhile to just investigate this at some point if nothing else. -
Quote:Despite what many forum-goers believe, our development team isn't full of idiots. I'm fairly confident that they realize people will likely exhibit different spending habits once they have a limited amount of Paragon Points or actually have to pay real money to acquire them.Oh boy.
I hope they aren't actually thinking of using the purchase data on beta as some kind of indicator of what people will spend their money on when it goes live. When I'm using play money I'm not really too concerned with what I'm spending it on. My real-life cash? That's another matter. I doubt I'm alone in that. -
Street Justice? No, that set's good to go. It was pulled from beta because it's where Synapse wants it to be performance-wise, and because the devs want to try and keep the beta build as close to release-candidate condition as possible. Street Justice was always meant to be added to the store sometime after the I21 launch, so there's no reason to keep it available during this last phase of beta.

Quote:That's a VERY unfortunate side-effect of Time Freeze being based on Anti-Matter's HP, while everything else is based on recharge time. If you can slow his recharge enough, this should be less of an issue. I look forward to Beam Rifle and Time Manipulation characters slowing him to a crawl and disintegrating him.I agree with everything you said, Snow Globe.
My biggest beef with the trial still has to do with the "time freeze," though. If he's freezing time, how come the clock keeps going, his DoT attacks (and especially Disintigration) still do damage to us, and his stupid space ship can still nuke us with Obliteration? -
/JRanger to pretty much all your ideas, Snow. Keyes is meant to be difficult and require micro-management of the various tasks while having to deal with a constant threat from the antimatter pulse. With the amount of time the trial spent being run in both the I20 pre-beta and the normal I20.5 beta, if the developers hadn't meant for it to be the beast that it is, they would have changed it. They recognize that it's difficult (and thus, less people play it because it's not OMG easy like BAF), so they've appropriately increased the completion reward.
I personally enjoy the Keyes trial because it's trickier than both BAF and Lambda. It's a challenge. Well, not much of one, really, because it's usually won or lost during the last fight. So your point about the antimatter pulse doesn't really hold up. Sure, players are defeated. But you're level 50; debt does not matter at that point. Besides, between defenders and corruptors, self-heals from powersets and pools, Rebirth Incarnate abilities, and good old fashioned green inspirations, mitigating the antimatter damage is not hard to do. It's only difficult if you go running off on your own during the trial and get in over your head, or people foolishly continue to attack Anti-Matter during the reactor phase -- both of which should be nipped in the bud by the trial leader. -
Don't get me wrong when I call Alien: Resurrection mediocre. I like the film; it just could have been much better than it was. And I really like Alien 3 too.
-
Quote:OMG YES!Some of the episodes I would've put on that list (in no particular order):
- Growing Pains: Aka 'The Annie episode.' Robin meets a girl with no memories, and they find that Clayface is chasing her for some reason. The ending to this episode is one of the most powerful in BTAS.
Batman: [places hand on Robin's shoulder] Sometimes there are no happy endings.
Cop: [regarding Clayface] We'll book him on the robberies and B and E, right? Anything else?
Robin: Yeah, murder.
-
While not nearly as high on the scale as other peoples' choices, I'm gonna add Alien: Resurrection to the list. It was full of really good character actors, all stuck playing one-dimensional characters in a mediocre film that could have been better had the original version been made.

Dune.
I've read the book, though. Wasn't exactly over-the-moon, so I figured I shouldn't waste my time with the adaptation.
Also, It's been a long time since I've watched Blade Runner and 2001; I should probably reacquaint myself with hem. -
I'm in Winston-Salem, and I actually thought it may have been something wrong with my house's foundation at first, because you just don't hear about earthquakes around here. Wasn't until I checked out my twitter feed that I found out it was indeed an earthquake.
